A wonderful place

This is like a home stay and the host, Cherry is awesome, She picked us up from the station, have given us all the details about local sightseeing. The room is big, has a nice balcony and you get a cool panoramic view of the mountain and sea. The breakfast was awesome and the property is too clean and tidy. You will get a refrigerator inside room. I will love to stay here again, once I make a plan for Monterosso, Cinque Terre.This stay was actually beyond my expectation.

Cherry, the owner, is lovely and welcoming. She picked us up from the train and took us up to the property. Access to the town and beach is otherwise via 170 steps down to street level and then a short walk. Cherry stocked the minifridge with complimentary beverages, and in the morning, she had tables set and a selection of breads, cheese, croissants and yogurts to choose for breakfast. The room and washroom were clean, and stocked with towels and soap/shampoo. We enjoyed our short stay!

Great location only a 5 minute walk to the town but this is after a lot of steps going down to the bottom of the apartments. Be prepared for lots of steps walking back up to the room.

Cherry was a most gracious host. The room was very clean, modern, with nice decor. It had a nice balcony with a view. It was in the newer part of town and about a 10 minute walk from the train station. It was another 5-10 minute walk along the coast to the older town center. We loved the quiet location with the frogs chirping at night and birds singing in the morning. Room was cleaned and Bedding and towels were changed daily Fresh fruit and bottled water were provided in the room. A nice variety of good food was available for breakfast, even when we had to leave to catch a train before 7 am. We were traveling light, so the 176 even terra cotta steps from the street to the room was not a problem for us after hiking from Vernazza. Grazie for a great stay, Cherry!

The place is very clean. The towels are clean and doesn’t feel or look worn. Cherry is very friendly. she was able to accommodate our early checkin and late checkout. Her breakfast has varied selections. Her recommendation for restaurants were excellent. The view from our balcony was priceless. After traveling for many days, this was a great way to end our trip.

Beautiful apartment in a quiet neighborhood
The ocean view was pretty as is the hillside across from the room! Cherry helped us on arrival and departure which made the hillside setting easy for us. February weather was surprisingly sunny and warm and we felt lucky to enjoy the beautiful scenery without the “normal summer crowds”. Highly recommend

Modern apartment - Great host!

A great modern B&B with very friendly host. Cherry is a very nice local lady and picked us up from the train station as we let her know in advance of our train arrival (you will received an email from her after booking). Apartment is clean and spacious with gorgeous sea views. Cherry's breakfast is generous and buffet style. As she clearly notes, when walking up from the station, there are a significant number of stairs (160+) so only book if you can handle this. Not a problem for us as we were ready for hiking. WiFi is a little weak in the room but we managed. Would highly recommend staying with Cherry.

The owner, Cherry, was very nice and accommodating, including rides to and from the train station and an early breakfast on the day we left. This room is centrally located in Monterosso and is very homey. It does have 175 steps to walk up to the room, however, I was able to do it (with frequent rest stops) and I'm not a person used to that much steps :). Overall a good place.

Best host ever

Cherry is the most gracious host we have ever encountered. We asked if we could come early and leave bags and she asked what time our train arrived and picked us up with our heavy bags and drove us up the hill to the room which was beautiful. An excellent place to stay. Many stairs up from the road but they are new tile with many landings so not a bad climb. We had to leave early and she had breakfast ready early and drove us to the train station. This is a great place to stay!

Nice B&B!

Nice bed and breakfast. My husband and I stayed here for 3 days. Owner picked us up at train station and brought us to her place which was awesome! Cherry ( owner) made great recommendations for restaurants and things to do. Breakfast was simple but good!
Room had AC, everything was clean and she came in once a day to make your bed and clean your room.
Stairs to get to her place so you must be mobile.

View-tastic!!

I like that they pick you up when you get off the train because there are a lot of steps to get to the room. The room was a welcome stay after the hustle and bustle of Venice. We slept with the patio doors wide open! Love the view is vineyards and hearing the rooster. I also loved breakfast. Lots of options. Excellent stay.

Lovely hillside hotel with great customer service

I can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was at Affittacamere Alle 5 Terre! Our room had a balcony with a lovely view of the sea and the hillsides. The room and the public spaces were quite stylish with lots of original art. We enjoyed a tasty and varied breakfast during our stay. And then there was Cherry, our warm and fabulous hostess. She picked us up at the train station when we arrived and brought our luggage to us at the train station at the end of our last day in the Cinque Terra. Now that's outstanding customer service! The location may be an issue for some, but not for me and my wife. Getting back to the hotel after a night out was a short walk from Monterosso's old city, involving climbing several flights of stairs (the price you pay for the beautiful view). I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a lovely Cinque Terra stay (as long as you can climb stairs. Getting a cab in Monterosso seemed quite difficult). My wife and I would definitely stay here again if we return to Monterosso.

24 hours in Monterosso

Cherry was an amazing host! She had accommodations for us to park our SUV rental car, drove us there to leave the car, drove us back up with our luggage, then drove us to town for dinner! She then picked us up from dinner and allowed us to take our time in town. She encouraged us to sleep in and text her when we were ready for her to make breakfast, which ended up being 10:30am. That day she allowed us to leave our luggage in one of the rooms all day since we were doing the Cinque Terre walk. We did not return until 8pm and she didn't mind at all! She allowed us to clean up there too before getting our car and leaving Monterosso that night. Amazing hospitality and would highly recommend! Need to be able to climb steps well (176 to get to town) but that is the case for most of the city.

The owner, Cherry, provided us with 5 star service. We called her the day of arrival and she picked us up from the train station. Our last day we had to take the train at 6:45am and although breakfast wasn't served until 8am, she served the entire breakfast at 6am and drove us to the train station at 6:30. Accommodations were comfortable and what you would expect for 3 stars. We had air conditioning, private bath, and a balcony with view of the ocean. Breakfast was great with meat, cheese, cereals, eggs, fruit, torts, coffee. The exper was above expectations.

Nice hotel close to attractions

The B&B provided a small but adequate and clean room.The breakfast was good as well. A key feature regarding this B&B is that Cherry, the lady in charge of the rooms, sent me a text the day before we arrived, asking when we would arrive in Monterosso and in response to my reply suggested a place and time for her to pick us up. This, I think, is quite important for three reasons: one, if a time isn't agreed upon to meet Cherry, she may not be present at the B&B when you arrive and there would be no way to enter the building; two, it is somewhat difficult to find the B&B on your own; and three, it is quite a hike uphill from the town to the establishment, particularly lugging luggage. But all these difficulties are removed given the consideration of Cherry to pick you up and deliver you to your room and set you up with keys and information regarding breakfast. She was most helpful. You get a nice view too from the lofty height that the B&B is situated at. Of course, there is the price that one has to climb about 10 stories of stairs each time you return home. We enjoyed our stay and would choose Affittacamare Alle 5 Terre again for another trip to Cinque Terre.

Great Place, the Steps are Worth It

This was a great find in a beautiful location. Our host, Cherry, was very friendly and helpful, even meeting us near the train station to drive our bags up to the top of the hill for check in. It is a long walkup to the B&B, but after all of the walking that everyone seems to do in the Cinque Terre area, the steps are a minor climb. Clean, nice room, great shower, great breakfast. Just an excellent place to stay.

Loved this charming hotel and our host.

This was an excellent experience. Our host was gracious enough to pick us up and deliver us to the train station so that we would not need to climb any stairs with our luggage....very kind. Did I mention stairs....there are a lot of stairs but they are well constructed....evenly spaced and sturdy....not a problem. Our room was comfortable, had a wonderful view and was full of charm..will highly recommend to our friends and family.

Convenient bed & breakfast

This location is more like a Bed & Breakfast than a hotel. You're in a cozy space with your own locked room and private bath. You are in a neighborhood/residential area. Be forewarned that you are climbing A LOT of stairs at this location, but the owner will very graciously pick you up at the train station and drive you to the top of the hill so you are only taking a few stairs down to the room, instead climbing a bunch of stairs up. Only about a 8-minute walk from the train station. Very convenient and quiet. Great breakfast with yogurt, granola, pastries, juice.

Fabulous B&B all around

Our stay was amazing with the owner and staff very helpful with all our needs, even driving us back to the hotel when my wife couldn't quite walk anymore because of insect bites on her legs that got swollen after the treacherous hike to Vernazza. Fantastic job my the staff. Will highly recommend to our friends.

Beautiful view of the sea from our room

The owner arranged to meet us on arrival and drove us and our luggage to the higher level of the BandB. The \"Vernazza\" room had two sets of French doors and a balcony. The cross breeze off the sea was incredible. A bowl of fresh fruit, a liter of fruit juice, and bottled water was available all the time. The breakfast of cheese, meat, eggs, yogurt, pastry, fruit and coffee was great. Upon checkout, the owner drove us to the station for an early train.
You must be reasonably fit to walk the hill to the bottom of the building and then 177 steps up. The

We greatly appreciated the roominess - a small kitchen area, sitting room, etc. This is so much better that a traditional hotel room. The staff was equally generous, providing a breakfast for our early departure and, most importantly, transporting us to the train station because taxis did not operate that early.

Cherry picked us up & drove us to the top with our luggage. Amazing view. Clean, Nnicely appointed & spacious room. The breakfast was excellent. We did have hiking questions re: the UPPER trails of the Cinque Terre which were not answered adequately to get us going where we were headed. Spent 1.5 hours locating the trailhead on foot- prior to a vigorous all day hike where we saw no one, so we did not do the \"usual\" hiking! That said, definitely nail down the trailhead before you stay here, but otherwise, DELIGHTFUL.

Great location, good views

Alle5terre is a steep climb above Monterosso and you need to be quite fit to stay here or pay to get up and down the steep road. The room had a balcony with views around the hills and to the sea. The owner Cherry was very nice and helpful. Monterosso is a really nice village and has a beach that was very well populated during our stay. There are plenty of places to eat and drink nearby and the train station is a short walk but steep climb away. Overall we enjoyed staying at Alle5 terre.

You can be told to get a taxi to the top of the steps with your bags. They don't tell you, they make you lug your bags up 172 stairs!

No air conditioning makes the stay unbearable in Summer.

All in all, a good place to stay. The rooms were large and clean with a great (albeit longer) view of the sea. The owner was fantastic - picking us up at the train station, and even arranging a free taxi to the train station on our way out of town. The walk was short, but with the stairs these little things left a very good impression. The breakfast was good, the rooms, the rooms clean, and the noise minimal. The only downside we experienced was not directly related to the rooms as the Cinque Terre was having abnormally high temperatures and most places (including restaurants) don't have air conditioning. So with no air conditioning in the room, we did get hot during this time. But, all the guide books say you can get away without air conditioning given the sea breeze, so it's hard to blame the facilities on hot weather.

Monterosso Getaway

Thanks to Cheryl for a lovely introduction to Monterosso. They were very flexible with our travel plans, breakfast was good, the room was clean and spacious. We had a lovely view of the ocean. Good thing we are semi in-shape, because they aren't kidding about the stairs being hard to climb. We were incredibly happy with our stay. We would stay here again.

Ten story walkup

The hotel is located on the tenth floor of a building without an elevator. Every time you return to your room you must climb those stairs. There is no staff present at the location, it is a cluster of rooms in an apartment building. Want a cup of coffee, a restaurant recommendation, a taxi call? No one there. If you plan to go during the hot season, be aware that there is no air conditioning. Most of the little details that might make things a little more comfortable they get wrong: no soap dish in the shower, no hangers in the closet, too much useless furniture in a small room makes it feel smaller, a 16 character gibberish wifi code that they don't even bother to put on a piece of paper.

We had a wonderful experience staying here. Great location and service. We left Monterosso at 6 am the day of our checkout and the staff went out of their way to bring us breakfast food the night before so we had some stuff to eat the next morning before we left the hotel. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Great room but lots of steps

This is a great situation so long as you don't mind a little bit of walking uphill at the end of your day in Cinque Terre. It's just a little off the main strip, which is nice in a lot of ways. It's much quieter than staying in one of the hotels right in the town. It's just a lot of steps up to the room once you get to your street, but as long as you're in shape for that, it's a great place to stay. Other than that, Very nice helpful staff, breakfast is fine, very nice room with great views and cool paintings by the owner I think (?) decorating the whole place. We stayed there for 5 days and no regrets at all.

B&B with a great host

Cherry the host went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and was so helpful. It s a no frills, but comfortable, larger roomed B&B. The breakfast wasn't great but wasn't bad and her hospitality was outstanding!! A great end to a hectic day of traveling or a place to rest when hiking the upper trails of Cinque Terre!

Our stay at B & B Alle 5 Terre was perfect. They met us at the train station and took us to our rooms. The view was amazing; the staff was very accommodating. One of our favorite places we stayed on our two week Italy trip. Highly recommend this place.

Good Value in Monterosso

While our stay started out a bit shaky -- there was a miscommunication about how we were going to get in to our room -- but it all worked out. Our room was clean and well cared-for. The downside to staying at their second location is that it is a 15+-minute walk to the main location for breakfast and it is literally 177 steps up and down to our room. We're not wimpy people, but it did get tiring. On the upside, the housekeeper is wonderful and kept our room super tidy. And the owner is absolutely charming; any annoyances we had quickly dissolved after meeting her. All in all it worked out fine and was a great value.

Nice hotel and charming staff.

Hotel owner warm and helpful. The room was well kept. Only problem was the stairs, me being pregnant and having a toddler. But to be fair I was forewarned by the owner but there was limited availability in the area. The breakfast was a little trek but it certainly made up for it. Freshly made eggs and there were many options. It was a good value for the stay.

The good points: The room and bathroom was OK, breakfast itself was OK. Now the bits you should listen to carefully: The rooms are up 176 stairs, without a lift. On arrival they pick you up in a taxi and take you up a long winding back road to the top of the stack of tiered apartment blocks. It is 1.5 kms down this road (avoiding the stairs) to the front! It took us 30 minutes to walk to breakfast some 2.5 kms away in the old town in another of her properties. I can not recommend this B&B at all. We did not get to meet the hostess 'Cherry', she was always at one of her other sets of rental properties.

Room in town at breakfast location

This is not a \"hotel\" but an accumluation of rooms owned by one person with a central place to eat breakfast in town. We were taken to our room by cab (no way to get your suitcase up approx 150 steps). The room was very shabby and older, no view, and a 15 minute walk from town which is where the breakfast was served. The disappointment on our face motivated the employee to call the owner and a room in town \"opened up\". Fortunately, it was convenient as a well as newly remodeled. I wouldn't stay again.

Very quaint, a bit of a walk for breakfast but well worth it. Breakfast was wonderful, outside terrace with lots of atmosphere. Hostess made us feel very welcome. Lots of stairs when walking from town the short way, but a free taxi was provided from train to hotel and no steps to climb when dropped off at the upper driveway.

Great Hotel and friendly staff

We had a great time in Monterosso and a lot of that was thanks to how nice Cherry (the owner) was and the way were treated at the hotel. It was well run and we're given a lot of hints as to nice places to eat and things to do. She was even kind enough to drive out to meet us with her daughter after we had a problem getting back into our rooms and arranged for us to eat at a friends restaurant just before it opened up for the evening. The only issue we found with the hotel was the distance and the steps between the rooms on the hillside and the breakfast area, a walk of about 15-20 minutes. Its no barrier if you intend to leave the hotel for the day after you leave for breakfast but if you are an older visitor or want to return to your room frequently I'd imagine you've have some problems. However there are some rooms in the lower town (Old Monterosso) that you can arrange to stay in if you do think you'd have problems

Very nice space, a little out of the way

First, the place was beatifully decorated and the service -- from train station pick-up (on foot) to breakfast was great. However, the place is up a lot of steps and a little out of the action (still a nice view of the hills and water). Most confusingly, I had to walk 20+ minutes across town to check out and have breakfast. Yes, the B&B was a B&B, just not in one place! Shower was a little bit banged up and a few other noticeable things that could use some handiwork but room was very clean and had everything I needed, including a kettle. Lots of beautiful artwork too. Staff was very friendly and the owner cooked me an omelette to order for breakfast. Definitely on the more expensive side.

Nice place, but too many stairs

The hostess of this B & B, Cherry, was very nice, and provided an excellent breakfast--the best of my entire trip. The room had a nice balcony, with a really good view of the valley and the sea. Unfortunately, it was about a 1/2 mile up the canyon from the new town, and up nearly 200 stairs from there. Breakfast was served at their house in the old town, which is about another mile up the road. It was a long hike to breakfast. Also, the shower curtain was only about 1/2 as big as it needed to be, so the floor got soaked.

In the heart of Monterosso

After a bit of a hickup in being picked up when we arrived in Monterosso, it was soon forgotten with the charm of Gian Luigi and his wife, Cherry. Although our room did not have any views, it was most convenient, as the breakfast area was right outside our door and the heart of Monterosso was right outside our gate. So an easy walk to all of Monterosso, unless you are trying to drag luggage to the train station, which in that case is not easy. I would then recommend travelling with light luggage or a backpack, but as we were coming off a Europe tour, our luggage was quite heavy and made it quite tricky trying to climb on and off the trains. Overall our stay at this B&B was very pleasant, the owners were very friendly and would offer you advice on where to go and best places to eat, breakfast was great, with a coffee offered to you as soon as you sat down. You could order eggs, at no extra cost, which would be made to suit your taste and extra cofffee if you so desired. I would highly recommend our stay to anyone wanting to stay in Monterosso. I cannot comment on the other rooms at this B&B, as we were only on the ground level and did not have to climb heaps of steps to get to our room, as other people have experienced. I suppose in this case, we had to sacrifice a view for the convenience and ease of where our room was, but no complaints, as the view was only a short and pleasant walk away.

Friendly hosts, great location, awesome experience

Holy smokes there are a lot of stairs. But they were so worth it. The host was fantastic, breakfast was the best we experienced in Italy, the place was clean and in a great location. We would love to stay there again. Note that there are a LOT of stairs to get to your room though, not for someone who is afraid of (or unable to) climb.

Wonderful view and comfy room

I was very surprised what an amazing room this was for the price. Wonderful view, comfy room. Private bathroom and excellent view. The breakfast was amazing and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The only problem is that they dont have a reception desk so we had to call when we arrived and wait about 10 minutes for them to show up since it was later in the evening. Later they told me we could have got a pickup from the train station which is a 5-10 minute walk from the B&B. Other than that I would definitely stay here again.

Great location and clean!

The B&B is located in a great area of Monterosso al Mare. The room was clean and offered a view of the Ligurian Sea.

The only issue my husband and I encountered was that we had to pay for our room and eat breakfast in the old town of Monterosso al Mare. I suppose this may not be an issue for most people on holiday. However, we were traveling with friends staying at another B&B close to us and we had to walk 20 minutes from our B&B to pay and eat. By the time we walked to the old town, ate and paid and walked back we were down an hour. Had we known this beforehand, we may not have stayed here or planned accordingly.

Regardless, it was a beautiful property and the staff was very friendly.

Beautiful view

Hotel was in excellent shape. Roof top terrace with spectacular view. If you like sleeping with the windows open expect that you will hear what is going on on the street. Our room had AC, so if a cooler more quiet night was desired, that was a possibility too. We enjoyed this B&B very much and would recommend it to anyone who wants to say in Manarola. Breakfast on the terrace was top notch.

Good hotel with great breakfast

Gian Luigi (hotel owner) is great! Very friendly and wants to make the most of your stay.

The hotel has two properties, the main location (where breakfast is served) and the 'many steps' location. We stayed at the location with lots of steps. If you are not in decent shape, I would not recommend staying at this location as it has over 100 steps. You do get driven to this location by taxi if you call the hotel in advance, prior to your arrival and departure. Since it has lots of steps and is perched on a hill/mountain, it has a great view. It's also about a 10 minute walk down to the beach.

The other positive is breakfast! There is an array of cakes, breads, fruit, cheese, hams, eggs/omelettes, and amazing cappuccinos!

Mixed feeling

The location and logistics are prohibitive and very inconvenient. You have to climb a \"LOT\" of steps to get to the room. Its no joke. I cannot imagine going back to this place again. NOTE: there's no reception or front desk. You have to call the owner for checkin. If you are visiting from outside of europe and don't have a phone, its a pain. Having said that, the hosts are very pleasant and nice. They have another property in the old town. That might be a much better option.

Wonderful if you like stairs

Comfortable bed, great service and breakfast by the owners Gian Luigi and his wife Cherry, she makes the best eggs! Loved everything about Monterosso Cinque Terre! There are 176 stair to walk up to your room, so we would only recommend this hotel if you don't mind all the stais. The owners are so fantastic that you will forget about all the stairs!

176 Steps and No Internet

Let me start by saying that the owners are super people and put on a fantastic breakfast. The building is clean and modern, with large rooms and comfortable beds. The place would have been great except that it is a second location for the owners and the breakfast and wi-fi are a 15 minute walk away at their primary location. Then there is the matter of the 176 steps up to the B&B from the road. There is no reception, so be sure you either have a working phone or stop at their other location to get the key before you climb up there.

Wonderful!

I spent one night at B&B Alle Terre together with my two sisters, and we are very pleased! Simple standard, but nice and clean, I would have preferred a shower cabinet instead of bathtub though. The owners are extremely charming and friendly! Nice breakfast in the old town included (these rooms are on the other side of the town). Highly recommended! (Be aware that there are a lot of steps up to the rooms - but the owners picked us up at the train-station when we arrived).
