My expectations were not high, this being a two star property, and the room and proximity to the train station were good. However, the absence of a lift is a real problem. If I had realised we seniors would have to carry our suitcases up two flights of stairs, I would have booked elsewhere.

Convenient to train station yet quiet

Clean hotel very close to train station, yet quiet. Staff very helpful. We got a room with two twin beds. One person thought beds were great, the other thought a bit too soft. Can't please everyone. I would start again.

The location is about a 2 minute walk from the train station to go to Cinque Terre and if you pick the breakfast option the cafe for breakfast is just across the street.
Would definitely stay here again very good experience, clean rooms,comfy bed and private bathroom.

The property is very clean and a perfect location just a few steps away from La Spezia Centrale train station. Plenty of restaurants in the area and it is a short walk to the marina. Perfect location if you want to venture out to Cinque Terre or even Portofino.

Great sleeping experience

Lots of space on the room, comfortable bedding and super clean sheets and towels. They did smell clean too. Bathroom was clean. Owner, Lucas, is very customer service oriented. Very close to train station, restaurants and coffee locations. La Spezia Port is a walking distance from his location within a pedestrian area, shops, eateries, etc...
I have visited about 50 countries and many hotels with that.
I would definitely book them again. No doubt about that.

Convenient and budget friendly hotel

This hotel is very close to the train station - convenient for travelling to cinque tierre ($2 - 4 euros each way) and minutes away from the old part of La Spezia, which is very nice.
For those bringing their car, a completely free parking area is about an 8 minute walk away.
Communication with the owner was by WhatsApp and replies were quick.
This hotel is comfortable, but keep in mind that proximity to the train means some minor noise at night.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would definately recommend this hotel.

This hotel was absolutely perfect. Our check in started with our host Luca, the process went smooth and he was very welcoming! He then shows us to our room which was absolutely lovely. Hotel is very clean and close to the train station which was nice also. When I return to La Spezia I’ll be sure to stay here again!

The apartments are housed in a building that is 250 years old. Each of the original suites has been divided in to three units which have been nicely updated. The rooms are small but efficient, although the bed could have been better. Breakfast is across the piazza at The Cafe Elite. The staff at the hotel and cafe were all very helpful and friendly. The location can't be beat. You are about 5 minutes from the train station.

Location is very convenient as it is very close to the train station. Check-in was fast and easy. The staff member explained everything about our stay and accommodations, made some recommendations on what to do in the area, and showed us to our room which was located in the adjacent building. The room was very clean and spacious and was beautifully decorated. Upon check-in, guests are also provided with a coupon for a hot beverage, juice and a croissant at a near-by restaurant, perfect for a small bite to eat before starting your day. We would definitely recommend staying at Affittacamere Lunamar, and hope to be back ourselves someday!

Good location but very dirty

The staff was extremely helpful to allow me to check in late and the location is just few mins away from the train station - very convenient if you are staying for Cinque Terre.

The room is small and simple and it’s ok as long as it’s clean. But it’s not - it’s disgustingly dirty. The toilet was smelly and I’m not sure the room was cleaned before I checked in coz the rubbish bin the toilet was filled with others waste. And when I tried to take the shower and lay the foot tower on the floor. The towel was very dirty and you can see from the picture. I’m not sure if other rooms are better or they just accidentally gave me the unprepared room - I didn’t make any complain that night cause I’ve arrived late and the staff left after helping me to check in. I did tell another staff the next morning and he simply said he’s sorry. Understand there’s nothing he could do at that point but I don’t feel he’s taking it seriously even I showed him the picture.

A hidden gem -not to be missed

Lunamar is a hidden little gem. It's about 100 yards from the central station in La Spezia. That's perfect if you are planning to head to the Cinque Terrre for the day, but its thick walls meant we never heard any station noise overnight! It's also only a 20 minute stroll down to the port if you are planning to use the boats. Lunamar even has a lovely well-tended courtyard garden where you can sit out when you get back from dinner. The rooms are well appointed, spacious and with lovely soft furnishings. Private secure parking (just round the corner) is also available for a fee (which suited us as our car was packed to the rafters). Breakfast was served a few yards along the road at a lovely little cafe. It ticked every one of our boxes and we would definitely go there again. We recommend it highly.

We came in late, so the property was not manned. We had to call to arrange for someone to come, but they were there within 5-10 minutes. Property is nice. Amazingly quiet considering it is next to the train station and tracks. The breakfast was at the restaurant a few doors down and was minimal at best. Consequently 3 or the 4 of us paid up for a little more. I think it would be better if they don't make the claim of a breakfast

Ultra clean and comfortable room with a great bathroom. Situated close to the train station. The breakfast was just down the street in a lovely restaurant. They served fresh squeezed blood orange juice and freshly made pastries. If you wanted to get the full English breakfast you got a discount. Perfect stay.

The gate entrance to the reception is fairly easy to find. The entrance to the building is along the road to the train station. We climbed 2 floors up to our room with our luggage as there is no lift in the old building. The room is fairly small and the toilet with shower I would consider it small. My French hubby could hardly fit into the shower. The complimentary breakfast is in a cafe down the road towards the train station, which consists of a crossiant of your choice, coffee/tea and fruit juice. You can top up to have a full breakfast which we didn't.

Very friendly staff but overall disappointing

Start with a good point, the staff is very friendly. The main reason that I booked this place was due to good reviews and the ratings, however, my experience of Affittacamere Lunamar is not quite that so I wonder if I was given a room that has not been previously used by other guests. Being close to the station was good but it was too noisy to open the window for me. Given a room on the 3rd floor without a lift, about 60 steps from the ground. It can be a good exercise but if you have a problem with stairs, you will need to check with the staff beforehand as they seem to have some ground floor rooms. The wardrobe was dusty and I had to wipe it and shower cubicle and toilet need to be refurbished. The design of the bathroom has an inherent fault as there was no way I could use the basin facing straight as the bidet was placed where a person needs to stand. Having said that, perhaps I could, if I don't mind rubbing my legs against the bidet which I am not prepared to do so. There is a rather misleading description of breakfast. It says, 'Free full breakfast'. I wasn't expecting anything grand but when checked in, I was specifically told that it was 'full Italian breakfast' basically one croissant (ok quality), a cup of coffee (good) and an orange juice (not what I would normally consider as an orange juice though). I remember seeing some good reviews on breakfast...hmmm....am I the only one thinking that the description needs to be corrected as 'Free Italian Breakfast'?

Great place for a great price.

Great little place. The Bungalows were almost like a reconditioned shipping container but they were updated nicely. It was in a great location, close to downtown Florence. I have no complaints other than the front desk guy more or less persuaded us into using their service shuttle and strongly discouraged us from driving our rental into the city. Come to find out that where the shuttle dropped you off was further than some available paid parking which would have cost us less and put us closer to heart of Florence. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Would take my rental instead of the shuttle.

Nice hotel convenient to train station

The location could not be better. It is very near train station. It is confusing finding the entrance because it seems two locations have the sign. The one closest to train is not entrance! We were checking in late and if not for a friendly local cafe owner we would not have found it. Also, as others have noted, the keys are super confusing. I understand need for safety but there has to be an easier way than the current system. I went to reception to ask a question, discovered it is not manned but certain hours and if you need something outside those hours, too bad. When I tried to leave reception area to return to room, I became locked inside the gate. No employee was there to unlock gate, I couldn't call anyone. Finally after about 20-30 minutes, I discovered how to get out. There was a typed little sign with instruction but it lost meaning when translated to English. The room itself was clean and fine and location great but for the other reasons, I would not stay here again.

Clean B&B close to the train station

Our hosts were excellent -they helped Us a couple times making phone calls for us and giving us suggestions for restaurants etc. The room was very clean & easyto get to! It was nice to have a kettle in the room for coffee/tea and a little fridge!!

Overall was a pretty good stay. The room was super tiny but it was just me so it didn't bother me at all. Very clean and they changed the bedding every day. The only problem was when I first got there. I had directions of where to go and when I finally managed to get in the gate the reception wasn't there and I had to ask someone on the street to call them because I'm traveling (obviously) and DONT HAVE A PHONE. They should know that not everyone is going to have a phone in a foreign country. It took like an hour from the time I got there to the time I got into my room and it's less than 5 minutes from the train station. These people don't really know how to run a b&b properly.

This hotel is steps away from the train station on La Spezia and a really convenient base for traveling to Cinque Terre. La Spezia is small and safe, but offers a good variety of restaurants and shops.
The hotel is operated by a family (son and mom) and they are incredibly sweet, helpful and generous. Upon arrival, I got a map and explanation of what to see and do in Cinque Terre and the area around, as well as restaurant recommendations.
Really great value for the cost. Very clean and well equipped rooms too.
Thank you so much! I hope to come back soon :)

Great place if visiting Cinque Terre!

This neat lil place was fantastic! Great location, clean with decent facilities, helpful & friendly staff. The only downfall is the breakfast... Us New Zealanders eat ALOT more than 1 pastry & a drink for breaky! In saying that, it was free, & better than nothing :)

Basic Hotel but brilliant location

We only needed an overnight stay and this hotel whilst basic was just brilliant. Maria the owner could not have been more helpful. The room was spacious and spotless. Whilst it didn't offer parking we were able to park our car in the undercover car park five minutes up the road (for a fee). We were given a breakfast voucher which we redeemed at the cafe across the road. If you are travelling to Cinque Terre by train than this hotel is for you as the station is only a seven minute walk. Can I suggest, if time allows, catch a bus to Portovenere, it only takes approximately 40 minutes and you will not be disappointed. It is right on the coast, it has numerous cafés and restaurants and enough touristy things to see to fill in a whole day.

The owners/staff were lovely people. BUT the room (a single) was tiny and VERY DAMP.Finally had to go to a laundrette after three days in order to get socks dry. Nothing dried.
The bed was exceedingly hard and narrow.It felt very damp. Nasty synthetic blankets, not wool, which added to the problem. The advertised breakfast came supplied on a tray and was suitable only for Italian tastes.
No staff on site, To get in and out of the place required a three key system that was frustrating and time consuming.
