Relaxing and Amazing stay

It was an amazing stay with my fur baby.
Phillip was welcoming, friendly & helpful with sharing information.
Cabin is surrounded by nature. Peace & quiet. Relaxing.
Short beautiful walk to the dogs beach.

Lovely bush cabins in peaceful setting.
Our cabin had a high ceiling so it was lovely and cool.
We had a lovely few days and definitely would return.
We very much appreciated being able to bring our dog, who enjoyed the bush path at the back of the property.

The beds were very comfortable and clean. The unit was well appointed but some maintenance needs doing. The grounds were totally lacking in care and attention. The pool was cloudy and the games room could do with a complete overhaul.

Nice way to finish the school holiday

Very pleasant stay, 10 minutes walk to the beach through the rainforest. The swimming pool is easy to access and well maintained.
The kitchenette is very basic and could do with a bit more cutlery.
The ceiling fan was rather noisy.

An oasis to detox from consumerism and the hustle and bustle. Nestled in the forest, this accommodation encourages contemplation, relaxation and engagement with nature.

Our stay here was wonderful from the very beginning. Phil was so helpful, he even walked us to our cabin instead of just giving us directions which does not often happen these days. Phil also called us the morning after we checked in to see if he could provide us with any advice on activities we could do while in Byron and have us good restaurant advise. Other reviews said that the place was a little run down but I did not think that at all, the cabins were exactly what I would have expected from a rainforest resort, they blended in instead of sticking out like most modern architecture and had all the basics you required. The walk to the beach was lovely, the dog really enjoyed it. The surf can be a bit rough so it you are looking for a good place to take your dog and have a swim the Ballina spit was excellent half hour trip south . The pool was also great to relax around after a busy morning and it was the perfect temperature. This place is perfect if you want to experience Byron but want to be a little removed from the hustle and bustle of a tourist town. Conveniently 5 minute down the road is a small supermarket, delicious Indian and excellent pies at the bakery. Overall a great stay !!

Lovely rainforest stay

Nice rainforest stay. Phillip the host is very lovely and helpful. Rooms are from the 80s. Loved waking up in the morning drawing back the curtains and watching the sun filter through the trees & listening to the birds. Pool ok, but it is July. It’s heated. Table tennis & fire in common area was a nice touch. Kitchen in the2nd bedroom is a bit weird but we made it work. Main bed very comfortable. Would stay here again. Bit far from town but I also liked that. Great morning walk to the beach. Wish I could have stayed longer.

This property is a very nice respite tucked away in the rainforest. It is extremely quiet away from the hustle of byron but only a few min out of town (too far to walk but close to suffolk park). The facility is older, but the cabins are clean, the property is clean, linens and beds are comfortable, and it is PET FRIENDLY. This is a HUGE selling point for me. There are very few truly pet friendly places to stay, nice big screened in porch. Very modern and updated pool with lovely night lighting and heated. Short but a little confusing forest walk to the beach (signs would be good?). The manager is extremely friendly and helpful, provided excelling dining suggestions, and easy check in/out at our convenience. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again

Lovely 15 minute walk to amazing beach, nice pool, internet spasmodic but grateful to have to book next destination.
Netting against insects not great so I’d bring camping coil on next visit.
Friendly & not too big like other places but had TT & pool table & clean pool. Etc

Philip sent an email to say \"Hi\" after my plan arrived and I was on my way to the resort. He asked how I was getting there, and sent suggestions for a good route. He told me my cabin number, and that it was all ready for me, with the heater going. When I arrived, I went to say Hi, as I was a bit later than expected - got a bit lost on the way! - and he made sure I was settled in with plenty of ideas of what to do and where to go. It was a lovely, laid back environment in which to relax

Great Getaway

We stayed for 3 nights here & loved the cabin we were given. It had everything you needed & it was well placed to be able to drive to Ballina, Mullumbimby & of course Byron Bay. Phillip had some great ideas for dinner venues & we were very pleased with the one we went to. So much to do & see & with the placement it was a great choice for us.

Nice dog friendly cabin in a rain forest setting.

Very quiet, difficult to hear road noise. Just whip birds and bush turkeys.
Studio cabin, with separate toilet and shower. Not well insulated, but air conditioning.
Large covered patio outside.
Overall, a very nice stay.

Great to be able to take the dog with us but the resort is rundown and in need of an overhaul. Fly screens on verandahs are not secure so bugs come in and dogs can get out. Pool area is nice and camp kitchen is convenient and large. Beds need replacing but other cabin amenities were fine. Good to have some staples like oil/salt/tea and coffee.

We unfortunately had very wet weather which resulted in significant amounts of water leaking into the kitchen area through the roof. We were warned that there was a leak in the kitchen roof but this was clearly an ongoing problem and was coming in via the light fiting (dangerous) we turned off light and hoped for the best. Cabin could have been cleaner and we had to kill and remove two large cockroaches.

Perfect little hideaway in the rain forest.

Beautiful Rainforest

I loved this place. You cabin is surrounded by rainforest and quite private. At night you could see the stars as you lay in bed and in the morning you wake up to the birds twittering. It really suited me. It is only a kilometre to the beach but it is more of a surf beach than a place to swim. I wouldn't recommend this place if you like the finer things in life. Accommodation is clean but very basic.

Really loved the setting of Rainforest Retreat, very tropical and shaded. The room was comfortable with self contained kitchen. Loved the sun room out the front, good area to cool down in summer.

Great place to stay for a short break away

It is adequate for a short break away. The place is old and needs some work. There was a pool and spa however they were out of action probably because it is winter :-). Privacy was good. We were in a studio room and it was clean with one queen and single bed. The bed was comfortable and plenty of extra blankets if needed. Table and chairs were in the outside area covered by insect screens. This was our first trip away with our dog and were extremely pleased it went well. There is a walk through the rain forest and past the camp site next door, through some waste treated water (over the path way) and over a walk bridge to get to the beach and worth it when you get there. Alternatively you can walk along the road until you get to the path but you can't avoid that water before and after the walk bridge. They had some bikes you could use and they had seen better days - all care over to you. Overall it was a good place to get away and close to the town by car. Enjoyed sitting outside and not getting eaten by the insects!!

Quite cabin in a great location

We stayed in a quite, roomy two bedroom cabin set amongst a pleasant \"foresty setting\" The accomodation was comfortable but a bit rustic and in need of a face lift especially the kitchen. We enjoyed the communal facilities with table tennis and pool table. .We also preferred to cook our breakfast in the communal kitchen. Easy attractive walk to the beach and a short drive into Byron The new owners are keen and pleasant and well on the way to bring the resort up to scratch.

Poorly maintained

The resort is in desperate need of maintenance. The screen door to our cabin was detached from the hinges, the shower leaked, the seat in the shower was broken with a nail exposed (I didn't need to use it but would be a hazard for someone with a disability), the fire alarm was detached from the wall which is a serious concern when surrounded by so much bush. One of the windows didn't have curtains so would be easy for anyone to see in if they walked around the back. Soap was provided but no shampoo or other toiletries so make sure to bring your own. The pool was a decent size and temperature but fairly dirty. The resort is in a quiet, secluded location, easy to park the car and its a short drive to town (or 40 minute walk). Overall, you could find better value elsewhere.

Great Getaway!

A few friends and I were heading up to splendour and booked late accommodation. This place was very affordable and one of the only places left. We were very worried that this may be really dodgy. On arrival our fears had vanished. The cabins were so nice. It was winter so the owners had already heated our room. They were very welcoming people. I would definitely come back here again!
