We saw a Dami Im concert in the ballroom. it was so good. we had already had high tea. Later dinner and the enjoyed a good night's rest in a well appointed room.

For the price the breakfast was very poor. As a vegetarian I was surprised to see bacon in the beans. No grilled tomato, no hash browns, limited fruit. Good range of pastries and the omelet I ordered was good.
My tea pot leaked all over the table so that didn’t help my mood!!

We loved sitting by the fireplace in the lounge area! The room we had chosen with the Valleyview was spectacular. 👍 We were most impressed that the room we had was cleaned and fresh bed linen and of course towels replaced every day. Having the bedlinen changed every day doesn’t always happen in hotels these days.

The room was clean, the staff were excellent, and the breakfast was also excellent.
We did have trouble with working the air conditioner, but staff came to fix it. We were disappointed that we didn’t have Netflix, as we did in the previous hotel we stayed in, but overall we enjoyed our stay, with the bonus spirit that took a liking to my bed!

The grandeur still exists at this iconic motel. High Tea in the afternoon is a must. The views are unforgettable. Take the time to walk the entire building and take in all the history.
Apart from the amazing views the staff are also what makes this place. Warm and friendly all throughout your stay. Buffet breakfast was very enjoyable and once again you get to take in the valley views. The room was very clean and tidy. Our stay was very quiet and comfortable. Looking forward to returning one day.

This is a lovely hotel - but it could be so much more.

There is evident history here but it is sorely in need of updating and redecorating.

Great staff, priceless views, a very good kitchen and a welcoming lounge - all good.

This is a hundred year old building so the rooms are compact at best.

Would I book to stay there again - yes I would.

The room for two people was inadequate. Elementary items - plug for washbasin, luggage storage, hanging space, hanging facilities, a coffee table were missing. Damage to the shower floor should have been repaired, a faulty bedside lamp must have been ignored by the housekeeping staff.
The reception staff and hospitality staff were very friendly, attentive and helpful.
The food in the Wintergarden restaurant and the Boilerhouse was excellent, and the staff very helpful with dietary issues.

Closing the Boiler House restaurant for dinner Sat to Tues feels like they are trying to forcefully \"upsell\" the Wintergarden restaurant. Coupled with the insistence of a minimum of 3 courses ffor dinner on a Sat left a very bad taste in the mouth.

We enjoyed a 2 night escape from the city and were delighted with this gracious, fascinating hotel. The history of the Hydro and the beautifully updated interiors were an unexpected bonus, also, the charming bar with spectacular views. The delicious breakfasts, again with stunning views left us disappointed we had other plans for dinner. The staff were all friendly and professional and our room was well furnished and immaculate. We look forward to another stay.

This is an iconic hotel. The room was small but extremely comfortable with incredible views. The staff were friendly and efficient. The hotel was full of antiques and amazing guest areas. The restaurant was in a room with stunning views and the food was excellent. Breakfast had good variety. I can not express how interesting this hotel was.

A treat to stay here, in the mountains. Wonderful welcome and service from the reception staff. The historic decor of the hotel makes it interesting to wander through. We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the magic views from the windows.

Beautifully renovated building with a high end luxury feel. We loved it! The only draw backs were the roadworks outside and the fact that there is no lift. Window are double glazed so it was still very quiet in our road facing room. The staff were friendly and helpful. The dining room is elegant. Food privey but good quality. We would definitely recommend.

Our room was clean and quiet and the hotel itself quite beautiful. We stayed for two nights on a Monday and Tuesday and I wish we had of known ahead of time that the hotel’s Boiler House is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays as was the Cat’s Alley tea room and bar. These were all facilities we were looking forward to enjoying so I would caution others to consider this if you are thinking of staying on a Monday or Tuesday. Dinner in the Wintergarden was really lovely and the view amazing, very pricey and you will leave hungry though so you will want to have a snack before you go.
The breakfast is buffet only and it is not worth the price, the breakfast service is limited and understaffed so food was not restocked and our coffee took so long we were not served it until after we had finished out breakfast. There is a cafe at the hotel that I. Would suggest is a better option but again, it was closed in the mornings while we were there.

A wonderful location with expansive views across the Megalong Valley. The property makes full use of these, from the rooms, dining room and lounge. Its an odd collection of buildings joined together, with many indications of its heyday which is being largely restored. The rooms are quite small, but comfortable, and there are plenty of public spaces to relax in.

Stunning grand lady of a hotel

The Hydro has so much rich history and the renovation is beautiful. The restaurant is great and the chef outdid themselves with a wonderful dinner. The staff were excellent and so polite.
The bar is fabulous for pre and after dinner cocktails.
The valley view room was a little small, nicely renovated but the bathroom needs an extra shelf for your toiletries.

The property needs to be renovated, it looks quite tired.

The air-conditioning system in our room was not working properly, the staff had to bring in an additional small heater to keep the room warm.

There is no in room dining which is a bit of an inconvenience.

Considering the price we paid for two nights, I think the Fairmont was a better experience.

The view from the room was great and also a big shout out to Marcus for always doing his best to assist, also a big out out to the young lady who checked us in, I failed to get her name.

From check in to check out, the service at HM was impeccable. The Front desk team, particularly Marcus and his phenomenal knowledge of HM's history, was incredibly educational and entertaining. Thanks to Marcus and his knowledge, we learnt so much about the history of HM and it made our experience so much more endearing. Every team member assisted us with our enquiries regardless of their allocated/designated work areas (Theresa!) and the rooms and facilities are sinply breathtaking. Thank you Marcus and the entire HM team for making our stay so much more memorable and one we will never forget. We will be back very soon and look forward to creating so many more fond memories here. An absolute 10/10. Thank you!!!!

A sad old dame

This property is a bit sad now, as it’s been given no love. It’s a heritage building and is showing its age, but that’s no excuse for peeling, flaking paint and lack of cleanliness (does anyone check the state of the floor in the lounge bathrooms?). It was a grand design, meant to be filled with people, but now many of the lounges are shut down due to lack of visitors and staff. Some staff (not all) are clearly unhappy and it shows (Belgravia Lounge in particular- check the management there); I think they need much more support. And can you not do better than an array of fried foods or sandwiches for the snack menu there? The only alternative early in the week is the high end restaurant, and that’s too expensive to dine there every night. Seriously, give the staff and the property a lot more love.

We spent 2 nights with another couple at the Hydro and loved it! They've updated an iconic property tastefully and kept as many Art Deco features as possible. The staff is excellent. If you're lucky enough to catch the Manager Marcus when he's not busy, he can share some incredibly interest history about the property. He seems to always be on site making sure things are running smoothly. 2 of us had the buffet breakfast which had plenty of choice and was replenished while we were there. Coffee to taste is ordered separately. The view from the restaurants and bar are stunning, and the bartender from Brisbane entertaining. I hope we get a chance to return! This was a return visit for our friends who have been 3 times in the past. They were impressed with the renovations. Would definitely return! There is road construction currently in front of the building, but it didn't interupt our stay.

The room we stayed in was very nice, a Heritage Valley View Room. It was however very small, but very well presented and styled. The bathroom was good, with a large shower.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful.
The interior of the hotel is very lovely and luxurious and the views from the restaurent and lounge outstanding, both very pleasant places to spend some time.
The buffet breakfast include in our deal was very nice, but not exceptional. The wait staff were very good.
The exterior of the hotel is a little shabby, and a notable point was the weeds growing outside our room window, detracting from the stunning views.
Overall a very lovely place to stay and highly recommended.

It's rare to find a place to eat that has both a good view and high quality food. The hydro majestic has both. The rooms were clean tidy and offered great views. Rooms are small. The outside of the building looks like it could do with some maintenance, but inside was beautiful. Lots of construction on the road at the moment. They have electric car chargers which is great!
Would help to mark the ground to make it clear for other guests with non-ev not to park there. Or take guests car and rego to ask them to move out of ev charger spot.

Beautiful hotel and gardens, lots of history and interest to see inside. Staff were fantastic, room was very clean, food in Belgavia Louge and Wintergarden was excellent.

Only let down was the general maintenance around the property. I do understand and appreciate its a old building but we observed water leaking from window seals, large piece of torn plaster in public lounge area and several light globes in public area still out after a couple of days.

Rooms are very clean, fantastic view of Megalong Valley (once mist disappeared) but quiet basic. No space in bathroom for toiletries, bedside lamps and main lights not bright enough to read with in evenings. A plastic chair at the desk.

Great hotel!

This hotel has an old charm but was as clean & new feeling as they come! The bed was very comfortable, rooms seemed to be newly renovated, bathroom was bright! We played tennis on the free court with a beautiful blue Mountain View, and drank a delicious ginger mojito whilst admiring the views! Would definitely come back

The historical aspect of the property was lovely. However, there is no lift in the hotel, so if you have dodgy knees etc try and get a low floor room.
Whilst our room had a lovely view, the room was dirty. The sheet on our bed had dirt, black hair and other stuff on it. When we showed reception the photo they we not interested. Had wanted to stay there for years. Wouldn’t again.

Due to heavy duty road works the property is suffering with mud around. I was never advised about the state of the area. The room is quite small for king bed. I had to duck to get to my side of bed.

We had a wonderful experience at check in. We were disappointed in the property not having lifts. If we had known this with my over 80yo parents we probably wouldn’t have stayed. The rooms were very small with no view. The breakfast service was terrible and a very long wait for eggs or omlettes (about 30 mins). We would not stay here again. For the price it was not worth it at all.

We were really looking forward to staying here as I had been to the afternoon tea in the past and the area is beautiful. The rooms are small and outdated, but are fairly clean. The staff were rude, specifically the front desk staff, which made the experience unpleasant. The rooms are too small to have a meal in your room and there is no where to eat on the property if you have any outside food. When asking the front desk if there was a place to sit together with other family members staying in other rooms the Indian lady at the front desk was very rude and unhelpful and at first told us we could not sit anywhere other than our rooms and then changed her mind and told us we needed to buy two beers to sit anywhere on the property other than our rooms. She made our whole experience with this hotel unpleasant.

Congratulations on refurbishing this impressive part of NSWs modern history. You should be commended in your continued maintenance of a property that has such old world charm - That will continue to take huge efforts on your part: loved the special touches (even heated bathroom floors)
