Super clean & well located. Lots of choice of restaurants & amenities. Staff very efficient & helpful.

A lot of steps around the hotel. Golf buggy to town & lifts available …took a bit of getting used to how to access & find as a VERY big hotel.

Also is on flight path as near airport & some building noise by the waterfront from a new build going on. Didn’t bother us but worth mentioning.

Steps do mean that the views are incredible & the waterfront restaurant & sundeck are amazing!

This is a beautiful property with amazing balcony views of the ocean! We loved being able to walk down to the main area of Cavtat with all the restaurants and shops. You cannot beat the sunsets in this area! The views are stunning! This hotel has a parking lot onsite and the staff were so gracious to help us park and retrieve our car. There is a huge buffet spread every morning for breakfast. It is close to the airport and a short drive from Dubrovnik. We enjoyed being out of the chaos of Dubrovnik and coming back to this peaceful gem each night. Sitting at the restaurant or eating ice cream by the water and watching the sunset was one of the best parts of our trip!

A 5 star property, let down heavily by disenfranchised staff and lacking the 5* attention to client care and hospitality.

+Stunning location, real estate, views, potential

-smoking permitted everywhere except inside rooms but people were smoking on the balconies so this smell went into the rooms.
-staff are not particularly warm (reception and bar)
-food overpriced and poor quality
-shower runs between scalding and freezing
-breakfast not well serviced given 5* status, when entering for the first time no-one explains where to sit etc.
-noisy rooms (from adjacent cleaning and hotel services)
-bottle of water given on the first day but no daily top up.

Having travelled the world, this does not match 5* accommodation....a shame as could be a truly special place if they improved on some basics. We stayed in a 4 star in Croatia and this felt more 5 Star than this hotel.

This is a wonderful hotel and we’re surprised how much we liked it. It had a unique history (built 50 years ago under the communist government. It is the brutalist architectural style.

The views from our room were phenomenal as was the restaurants and amenities. The room was not as organized as it could have been with little stored for suitcases.

Great views from every room, private decks, pool areas were beautiful. They offered a golf cart shuttle instead of takibg the steps down to the promenade and beach areas which was nice coming back after dinner at night. Greeted with a bottle of Croatian wine, small eats and fresh flowers. Huge breakfast selection to enjoy!

The hotel is most certainly not a 5* property.
The room was recently refurbished and was the best thing about the hotel.
The breakfast was pretty awful. Same repetition everyday. Only 3 types of fresh fruit cut out, same daily. Eggs- boiled or fried or runny scrambled daily. No mixture of decent nuts. Tuna salad for breakfast ?? Really? Same 3 types of cakes, cookies daily. Muffins looked like they were baked in mum's kitchen, not professional at all. Most of the time no brown or sour dough bread.
On my last day, at breakfast, I found an olive in my plate with a metal shrapnel which is used to remove the stone still in the olive. I took this to the person in charge at the breakfast desk and he looked at me, said oh sorry and walked off with it. No further comments or acknowledgements about this. If I had eaten it, I would have ripped the inside of my mouth to pieces.
I went to the Sauna, they didn't have towels, you have to get a beach towel from the pool side to go to sauna/steam.
I used the gym, no towels to dry your face & no clock on the wall.

THE MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL- there is construction going on across the road from the hotel, we were NOT INFORMED of this. Our room was facing the construction sound. Even though we couldn't see it, we could hear it and it starts 8am EVERYDAY except Sunday which was too late because we were leaving.

5* is called 5* for a reason. It has to prove it has the standard, this one definitely didn't have the standard.

Had a wonderful stay at Hotel Croatia. The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming throughout our visit. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable, with beautiful views that made the experience even more relaxing. The breakfast buffet was also excellent, with plenty of delicious options each morning, and friendly staff. Definitely a great place to stay and would happily return!

Great hotel for one or two nights, but I don't think the accommodation is worth the high price to stay here. Check-in was frustrating as not much info was given and it seemed the woman was annoyed I had so many questions. Trying to find the location for the pool & outside access to the sea was difficult. There would be one sign, but then you would come to a crossroads with no additional signage, and twice we took the wrong way and had to back track. Bed was SO hard. Most frustrating was breakfast. You werent allowed to get your own coffee. The one waiter just never came back, but kept tending to the table next to us and wouldnt look at us when we waived them down. Finally my husband went to get his own coffee but was scolded for doing so and she said she would bring us coffee. NEVER brought us coffee. After 20 MORE minutes we just left.

The room while a shade small was very comfortable with a great in bath shower.
Lovely lotions and potions mounted on the wall and full at all times. Good stock of towels.

The hotel itself is well run very spacious.

The pools have sea water which is a wonderful addition.

My only criticism would be the buffet. Next time I come I will bring the chefs a canister of salt and pepper!

Every item was made to look perfect but almost everything on the evening buffet was tasteless. Pity, as the offering is very generous and a great variety.

For example, each evening risotto was offered, it looked great but seemed like rice boiled in plain unsalted water.

Staff at all times were very polite and professional and very well presented. The addition of recycled footwear is a unique approach. Bravo

Check in was swift and efficient and we were assigned 601. Lovely quiet room at the end of a corridor. The sea views are amazing.

I had to google if we could drink the water from the taps. A small note to say this would have been appreciated as no bottled water was provided. Also an undersell in relation to the spa. No information was given.

A big shout to to Fernando that served us at breakfast. He was very courteous and professional!

Thank you to the team for a really lovely stay. I look forward to returning.

The hotel itself is in a magnificent setting, set within the cliffs on a beautiful peninsula. A real architectural masterpiece with panoramic windows so you get amazing views.
The breakfasts were fantastic. Such a large choice. We did opt for half board but found the evening options no where near as good as the breakfasts so we ate out instead. However don’t let that put you off as they also have a steak house and another nice restaurant, not just the buffet style one.
The spa is nice. I had a treatment and the massage was fantastic.
The indoor pool is salt water. Cold even though they said it was heated but it was refreshing all the same. The room we stayed in overlooked the sea at the back of the hotel. Tastefully furnished with a nice little balcony to sit and watch the waves - very relaxing.
One of the best features in my opinion was the buggy service down to Cavtat and back to the hotel. It’s either a steepish meandering bank or over 100 steps so this was ideal for those who have mobile issues or anyone who just couldn’t be bothered to walk. Free service too. Fantastic.
The staff were polite, friendly and very helpful.
Entertainment was just a piano bar but that didn’t bother us as we like to venture out on an evening.
All in all a lovely stay in a very nice hotel

My room was nicely situated I had an amazing view, probably the best thing about the stay.
Reception staff were lovely and helpful. Room service was hit and miss, something I broached with manager.
Half board was not great. Breakfast adequate for my needs, dinner buffet, never had a hot meal, everything ‘warm’ aside from salad counter. Food left out in some areas just dried out or did not have adequate heat source. That area tended to be to the left of the entrance to the hall.

Staff in dining are in general ‘miserable’ couple of times had to ask for dirty crockery to be moved, and then seemed aggrieved at having to do it. Happily chatting amongst themselves was the order of the eve.
Later in the stay changed seating and had two lovely servers who were had to make sure all was good with me. Older female staff need to learn how to smile!
Just exhausting was glad to get home
The building and amenities I am sure are 5 * but service and food are definately not. Would not stay again.

This place is amazing! It was my birthday whilst we was here, I didn’t tell anyone but when we came back from our day out we had a cake waiting for us when we arrived. Little things like that made our trip unforgettable. So clean and easy to get around and you don’t need to leave the hotel regards to breakfast and dinner wise as it’s all here. There is a golf buggy that takes guests down to the harbour and picks you up to transport you back again - very welcome if you have done a lot of walking.

In particular, the carpets appear dated and could be refreshed or replaced with alternative flooring. The shower temperature constantly changed while taking a shower. It was so bad, my wife and I had to be careful that we wouldn't be scalded abruptly during a temperature change.

There was no streaming service available in the rooms. The TV only had 30 channels and most were not in English. I understand that they are going to be in the native language, but this was 2025, streaming services are paramount when traveling. For this expensive hotel to not have in-room streaming capabilities is absurd.

Personal opinion, but bed was incredibly uncomfortable. Neither my wife nor I were able to sleep soundly throughout the night.

The airlines lost my wife's luggage and no one from the hotel offered to assist in finding it. I understand this was the airlines fault, but no one offered to help translate when we had to coordinate the return of the luggage.

Small issue, but the bathroom did not have an exhaust fan. This caused the scalding hot shower to continually fog up the mirror and build up steam that then released into the sleeping space.

The hotel has stunning views! The room was big enough so we didn’t feel crowded and the washroom was big enough for the 2 of us to get ready at the same time.

The cliff-side rock beach was beautiful, but as someone who was new to swimming in the sea, it was too intimidating. The beach on the bay side was much calmer and a great place to hang out. The beach doesn’t have sand or pebbles, it’s more like a swim platform with free loungers for hotel guests. There are stairs to enter the sea, which is much easier. You can’t touch the bottom so if you have kids that can’t swim, you’ll need flotation devices. There are lots of fish if you want to snorkel

The buffet was delicious and provided a lot of food options, including eggs benedict. We also ate at the steakhouse on-site, which was delicious.

It’s definitely a slower pace hotel, so if you’re looking for nightlife, you’re better off staying in a hotel in Lapad. We were here for the relaxation so it was perfect for our needs. We could take a water taxi, bus or a Uber/Bolt/taxi to get to Dubrovnik.

We enjoyed our stay as it was me and my husband. If we had our teen boys, we would opt for a place in Lapad.

Only 1 thing....Croatia is now expensive 6 euros a beer. Spoke to staff they said they have been struggling as cost of living has gone through the roof since covid and joining the euro.

We had a lovely stay at Hotel Croatia. The location is uphill but offers breathtaking views, and there are buggies to take you to Cavtat. The coastal walk around the hotel is beautiful but hilly — bring comfy shoes!

Staff were friendly and helpful; housekeeping even remembered a request I’d made earlier, which was a nice touch. The room was clean and a good size. While not quite 5-star by international standards, it was comfortable overall. The bed and pillows were a bit firm, but fine for a short stay.

Watch out for minibar charges. We weren’t told that snacks outside the minibar were chargeable. One opened item was correctly billed, but another we never touched appeared on our bill twice. Reception removed it, but it re-appeared at checkout. Also, housekeeping knocked several times to leave chocolates — kind, but a bit disruptive.

Breakfast had plenty of choice, though the coffee and tea were bland. Dinner (€20 for three courses) was good value, and Cavtat town nearby is perfect for lunch. The gym was excellent and clean; the indoor pool was cold despite being advertised as heated.
Overall, the hotel is clean, well-located, and has great amenities. Cavtat is a peaceful gem compared to busy Dubrovnik. I’d stay again if the price was right, just double-check minibar charges

Every time we come to Croatia we plan a stay at Hotel Croatia. It’s such a beautiful hotel and the receptionists at check in are professional, super friendly and helpful with any questions. I love the complimentary shuttle to the nearby village as well which sits on the water but the restaurants and bars in the hotel are outstanding as well and can’t be missed. I can’t wait to come back again and enjoy the sweeping ocean views from the balcony. I give this hotel and staff a ten out of 10.

Mold in the shower, sink didn't drain and they couldn't get out vehicle out of the driveway for over an hour as they hadn't taken residents car keys up on check in. Not sure how this place is rated 5 stars it's a two at best. The service at the outdoor bar and indoor bar was very attentive and friendly so kudos to those guys but overall a dissapointing stay.

Room was clean and comfortable but lot of noise from scraping of chairs and walking on the hard floor in the room above.
Staff were very helpful, friendly and approachable. We had a small issue with our aircon which was sorted immediately.
Indoor pool was ok but outdoor pool was too cold to get into.
More signage around the hotel would have been useful.
Breakfast was good but it wasn’t explained how it worked. We spent the first morning wandering around trying to find a table.

Clean Room: but you need to ask for a refill in the bar, like tea.
Our room air conditioning did not work, so we just open the door in the balcony. I didn’t like staff going to our room without informing us apart from room make up.
Corridor carpet very clean and not smelly.
The lobby scent was so lovely!!!!

Buffet: we have the half board which was an excellent decision I made…food was delicious and lots of choices, menu is different everyday.
Although outside the hotel have lots of restaurants.

Buggy service daily going up and down the hotel was fantastic! It’s like riding on a roller coaster for some drivers:)

The hotel and room were stunning, the only negative was that the room was unbearably hot. When we asked the staff to help as our air con wasn't working we were told that the supervisor had decided to turn off all of the air conditioning as it would be too cold in some rooms (it's easily controlled in the room).

We requested a fan instead but they had run out as so many people had requested them so put us on a waiting list for one but we didn't receive one. We asked if the air con could be switched back on if so many people had complained that they had run out of fans but we're told the supervisor wouldn't be doing that.

Other than that it really was a gorgeous hotel and stunning location.

Our super refurbished room was very comfortable, clean and modern on floor 6 overlooking the sea. The sunsets were stunning from our balcony. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Fantastic indoor and outdoor pool areas. Breakfast very good with plentiful choice. Coffee unfortunately was strong and bitter, we found unpleasant! Dinner choice and variety was ok but not 5 star. the desserts in particular were tasteless We were pleased we stayed here as we had a very good stay overall.

Super hotel - this is what they used to be like 25 years ago before corporate chains sanitised them. Lovely staff throughout all areas. Dining room is busy but staff lay your table and attend to you straight on arrival and also clear really promptly, so it always looks smart. Big selection of food for breakfast and dinner, we enjoyed all meals. There is a sunset terrace near the Piano Bar for spectacular evening photos over the Adriatic. Clifftop coastal path from the children's playground will take you the (long) way down to picturesque Cavtat harbour passing 20th century defence bukers on the way. Balconies are quite small but the sea views are teriffic. All areas spotlessly clean. October visit, the outdoor pool was freezing! Drinks are a bit pricey but not much different from the prices in town. 45 minute bus ride into Dubrovnik costs 4 euros, but make sure you get off when the driver says 'city' or you will end up at the cruise terminal miles from anywhere.

Beautiful property. Even in a hillside facing room, you feel like you are completely alone….until the people next door talk. Room was quite noisy. All the people in rooms on either side were doing was talking in a normal volume.

This hotel is absolutely gorgeous. I wish we had stayed more than one night! The rooms are clean and updated and have all amenities you’d expect. The robes and slippers were a nice touch!

The sunset view from our room was absolutely amazing. We had dinner at the steakhouse and the food and service were both good. The breakfast buffet also has a really nice selection and real brewed coffee, which was a nice change from our other accommodations.

I highly recommend this hotel! One of the best we’ve stayed at in Europe!

It was our first time visiting Cavtat and Hotel Croatia, the hotel is really quite large but it doesn’t feel overcrowded. We had a sea view room on the 4th floor which offered amazing views of the Adriatic, the views on the other side of the hotel face the beautiful bay of Cavtat. Staff were quick and efficient, we were able to access our room early. The pools are both lovely (outdoor one a little chilly in October but I still enjoyed it!) and the spa treatments good value. Breakfast was plentiful and had many options. The hill is quite steep but golf buggies will transport you up and down to the town if you wish. Bed very comfortable and room a good size with good quality shower and hair products in the bathrooms, so no need to overfill your case with conditioner! There seemed to be constantly someone cleaning somewhere, the whole town is very tidy. Would stay here again without hesitation.

Myself and 5 other couples recently stayed at the Hotel Croatia. It is a beautiful hotel that is close to Dubrovnik. The hotel staff was excellent. Rooms were very nice and a great breakfast. Cavtat is a nice little town that gives you a great place to relax and experience Croatia. Transportation by ferry is coinvent to Dubrovnik. Ivo at the reservation desk was wonderful to work with. He arranged an all-day 12 passenger 32-foot open bow Epidaurum boat to visit the Elafiti islands. Our group got to see a different view of Croatia with our boat Captain Maro. This was the highlight of our stay in Croatia.

The hotel is old and dated, although our room had been updated, it was still old looking. The place is enormous, i was told there are something like 500 rooms. The dining hall was just way too busy, and we visited out of peak season. Sorry but this is just not for me. I took the bundle package of flight from Zagreb to Dubrovnik and hotel, which was my mistake. The steak House was pretty good.

Nice room with great views, staff good. The lights were bizarre kept turning off and on. Had to put key in slot in order to keep lights on, but even doing that they would go off sometimes when you’re in the shower and then you have to turn the lights back on. It was just a pain in the butt. If someone was elderly, and that happened, they could trip and fall.

The hotel had a feel of company retreat, not cozy.
Luxurious bedding in room in bed was extremely comfortable. Room was quiet.
We had been staying at a really nice Airbnb‘s. much more like home. This was cold and sterile.

Nice hotel but need to improve access.

Hotel is great but, given that it is 125 steps to get up to the hotel, they need to improve the running of their golf cart service. They seem to only come down when they are carrying people down and frequently there were several groups waiting at the bottom of the hill with no cart in sight. They need to either run the golf cart regularly every 5 or 10 minutes or install a phone or other communication method at bottom. I saw many people, some of who did not look especially mobile, give up and trudge up the 125 steps.

Staff is great, like to mention how friendly and accommodating Mia at guest relations was, Also our house keepers were always smiling and chatty.
Unfortunately we felt a bit deceived by the name/price of our room type. We booked and paid for a superior room with a balcony and sea view but we found out any “superior” room simply means sea view. And after seeing the renovated rooms on the upper floors and our rooms having to be changed and key cards deactivating 4 times we do not feel like we had any “superior” perks. After talking to other guests it is best to book last minute as they seem to give any good rooms left to last minute guests at a lower rate
