no way should this room be allowed to be marketed for four adults! There is a futon which is supposed to be the second sleeping area, it was extremely small and so uncomfortable. My mother and I shared that and we’re under 53 and we still are experiencing a backache.. with that said the grounds were beautiful. The staff was nice, but the room was old and not as clean as it should have been.

This place is overpriced, dirty feeling, dark, and staff assistance non existent. No wifi except piggy backing off the casino. The casino is a small and dingy as well. I do not recommend. 40 min from Reno with the fastest way driving back to 80 in Cali - Truckee.

We booked the room online. Before we got there, we called the office and confirmed with their stuff that our room had two beds, not once but twice. However, when we checked in, the room has only one room. Apparently the stuff do not know their rooms at all. The only reason I gave two stars because their manger kindly provided some extra blankets and sheets to help out.

Highly disappointed and dissatisfied with the condition of the room. The walls had damage and scuffs and stains. The curtain that they had to divide the bathroom from the bedroom area was stained with brown substances. The shower did not work and there was left over dental picks from someone in the bathroom trash. Do not recommend and will not be staying there again

No door on the bathroom was a problem. The beautiful shower was right inside on the left. Absolutely no way to have a private shower experience.. A really nice curtain for the door would have made the bathroom more comfortable and could easily be removed for anyone who wished. No amenities. I didn't find out till the last day that the casino next door had a good food selection.

When I used a flashlight to see what buttons to touch, I saw how dirty the coffee maker actually was. No bars in the shower prevented us from taking a shower. One of the sinks was clogged and filled up with just a little water flow.
Needing to go to the casino for check-in, ice, coffee pods, whatever, was not convienent. Parking was also not ideal with a long walk from the car to the hotel entrance & then up the stairs. A very kind employee, Mark, helped us up with our luggage. I, a 75 yr old woman, carried everything downstairs when leaving - not fun.
All in all, we would never stay here again. We stayed in Ashland, Or at the Stratford Inn for less than half the price and for exceptionally better amenities, breakfast, and room layout.

Great location, close to Soule Domain restaurant and King’s Beach. The interaction with check-in staff was WEIRD. A lot of whispering to each other before someone finally rung us up, said almost no words, handed us keys, and pointed to the casino exit. There’s no elevator (we were on the second floor; my friend has knee issues, so that was a bummer), and parking is limited. The furniture was a little dated, but the room was quiet and beds were comfortable.

This is a hotel with a casino in it. My son wanted to play casino games before a day of snowboarding. It was clean and recently updated bathroom. Very comfortable beds. The only thing that I didn’t care for was the dimly lit room. There were canned ceiling lights that had covers more appropriate for aiming at hung pictures. There was only one table lamp with a black shade. One of the two bathroom mirror’s lights weren’t working. For one night it was ok but very overpriced.

Reminder to take the curtains down and wash them we pulled them shut and lots of dust. Room was comfortable and big however the thermostat they couldnt get to work so it was too hot and we had to crack the door open at night.

This was not an enjoyable place to stay. First thing was that the listing says someone will greet you to check you in… NOPE there was a sign stating you needed to go into the casino to check in. Second. We got to the room and were baffled by the setup of the room. We got a room with 2 beds because it was not a romantic getaway. It was a trip for myself 50 year old female and my adult son and daughter. There was a double sided fireplace in front of one of the 2 beds that looked straight into the bathroom. Zero privacy. If someone wanted to use the tub or toilet you had to make sure everyone else stayed clear of the fireplace.
Third. It was just dated and dirty looking. The cabinets in the bathroom were in need of repairs, there is no door on the bathroom but rather a dirty curtain on a bent out of shape rod.
Fourth. I rented this room because it had a jacuzzi tub in it and I knew we would use it. When we did the water was barely more than Luke warm.

The room was great, clean and stocked with what you would expect. My only issue was the shower only had cloth shower curtains and there was no door to separate the room from the bathroom. I like to keep the room cool, therefor the bathroom was always chilly and the water temp in the shower was not very hot. Otherwise great option for someone looking to stay in north lake for under $800 a night and have access to a small casino.

No hotel front desk. Had to walk thru casino to “players club” desk. Got locked out morning of checkout after being told we could checkout an hour later at noon. It’s a cute, funky little hotel. The staff was very nice, our tv didn’t work but they did send someone up to fix it. Our only disappointment was that when my husband went to the casino/bar to get a coffee and Baileys, they didn’t open until 9;00 am, it’s not your typical casino! But all and all it was fine. The room at the Borderhouse is in a very well taken care of, hundred year old building. Theres lots of history there including huge names like Sinatra, Monroe, Kennedy, etc. The accomodation and amenities were pretty much fantastic, aside from the jetted tub not working. Just keep in mind, the fireplace is in the wall between the room itself, and the bathtub area, so you can see straight through. Also there is no bathroom door. So just in case you're all about privacy, you will not find it here. It wasnt a problem for us. The beds are very comfortable, and the coffee was good. Green mountain coffee pods and a legit keurig. The people at the player's club (which is where you must check-in) are very friendly. Overall, I was impressed. It's in the middle of North Tahoe, so convenient to both King's Beach and Incline Village. Great room, great staff.

Overall a great experience, so I gave it 5 stars. Nice robes, towels, comfy beds, friendly staff. As a fellow business owner I would suggest three things. 1 Add sliding barndoors to the rooms instead of the curtain between the bedroom and bathroom. 2. Mark the light switches 3. Change the highend steakhouse to barfood and breakfast to match the casino and music venue. Food was amazing, but expensive.

Its part of the adjacent casino and you have to find someone to help you. No food available. Adequate but lacking what you would normally expect. The TV didn’t work, neither did the volume so at night it didn’t turn off or turn done leading me to not be able to sleep. During the day the volume was too low to hear. The fan also made loud noises all day and night.

The room was fairly comfortable in an outdated charm, sort of way. The bathroom was fun with a slightly cringey led light equipped jet bath tub. Relaxing. The front desk staff at the casino who own the small hotel next door are just not very friendly and unwilling to provide helpful customer service. We decided to stay because hotels.com offered a better price. The casino was adamantly not willing to accommodate a military discount or upgrade any accommodations, like offering two beds after knowing we accidentally ordered one. They had plenty of other rooms. In truth, the hotel rooms were quaint, cute even. It’s the Casino staff and its smokey stench of an 80s throwback hangout for lonely slot machine enthusiasts, is the only problem. Hold your breath, pay for you room quickly, answer yes to their robotic questions and then go enjoy Lake Tahoe.

Cute and comfortable boutique hotel in a convenient location. Our only complaint is that you have to check in at the casino next door. No one was at the player's club desk so we had to hunt for an employee. He had to call for someone to come and check us in. Strange there is no front desk at the actual hotel. Other than that inconvenience, we had a nice stay.

If I were to review just the Border house building itself I would give it a 10 out of 10. It is a really cool building, beautifully designed, great patio deck area and on historical registry. Great location for all the activities that we did. The room was amazing! A brand new jetted tub was great at the end of a long day of hiking. However it is connected to the Crystal Bay casino. It was very confusing to check there was no Clear Directions ever given. No information at the building are in the room as far as getting a hold of somebody. The casino is old, run down, and the smokiness is unreal! The area that it's located on is between a really nice area on the lake leading into a very iffy kind of area. Two major casinos one behind one in front that have been shut down and are elapidated. If it wasn't for this property being attached to the casino I would give it a 10 out of 10 for sure. One thing that I did not address with the establishment was at 12:30 the second night that we were staying there was banging on the door it was the sheriff's department. Three patrol cars three Sheriff's Department demanding we opened the door. I did they said somebody in the casino said I stole their phone. We had never been in the casino. So it was very upsetting and scary at the same time. I don't know how that came about and I have no idea why there would be three sheriffs just for somebody's phone being stolen.
