Beautiful views and private beach area. The beach was extremely rocky (not the hotels fault) so you really need water shoes to walk the beach or enter the water. Location was ok as you can walk to the Cable Car in about 10 minutes to go to the downtown Taormina. For the price, it was worth the trip. I would go back.
For breakfast, the food was good, but there were bees everywhere. I kind of lost my appetite when every time I went to eat my food there were bees on it.

I loved this property and will stay again! There was 4 of us and we stayed for 6 nights. The staff were amazing- kind attentive genuinely helpful. The room was quite clean beautiful and bright with a view overlooking the sea. The breakfast was basic but good and the dinner was delicious. We went out most days nights because we wanted to see the surrounding area. Location is great - you can easily walk to the cable car however if you’re from the states this may feel scare as they don’t have a side walk and cars go very fast. At one point the bus came past us and it felt like the scary instagram reels. You do get used to it and locals walk these narrow roads often. If you don’t feel like walking the staff will call you a cab and it was only $20 each way for 4 people which is actually less expensive then the cable cars. There is also a bus stop 20 feet from the entrance. Other great experiences were the beach and service at the beach. The beach is private and there is an attendant to help you with seating towels drinks and etc. right next door there is a place to borrow kayaks and paddle boards. The view was amazing and overall it was an incredible stay!!

Great hotel away from main town. To get to town you need to walk along road and then take cable car, or taxi. Water to swim is amazing, so clear and clean, I would recommend booties as is small stones which can be a little uncomfortable. Our room with balcony was large, shower and bathroom were small but worked. Breakfast was a good range however didn't change except for cake selection. Restaurant at hotel had plenty of options and was a beautiful setting. Loved our stay here.

Loved it here. It’s vintage & authentic Sicilian. Still bougie even through it was an older hotel. The breakfast was good with a lot of options. You get chairs on the beach & they will serve you drinks to your chairs. Would stay here again.

We had a restful stay at the hotel by the beach. The hotel itself was rather dated and needed some upgrading in the quality of rooms, bathroom (no proper shower) and entry was using a single key (not digital). The staff were friendly and welcoming, particularly MonaLisa and Francesco, who were very helpful and informative. Free parking available.
We were looked after well by Mario in the dining room.
The breakfast menu lacked variety, serving the same hot food and fruit (only melon and kiwi were fresh, the rest were canned fruit). The juices were not fresh fruit but from a machine. Lunch and dinner menus were tasty with a good selection. Overall, a nice place to rest and away from the crowds.

Would stay at this hotel again! Loved the easy beach access (i.e., chairs, towels, umbrellas - included). Slightly far from the main town, and the road to walk into town or the tram was not very safe for walking. View was stunning, breakfast had many options, and the staff were beyond incredible!!!

It was old world charming. The perfect place to relax. Night views were incredible. The staff was wonderful. We loved our room. It’s isolated beach front so to get to the center and top of Taormina you have to walk up the road and take the cable car. We loved it! Grazie tanto.

Gorgeous beachfront. Loved the dining area outside! Food was good, breakfast options plentiful. Shower was extremely small!! I’m thin and could barely move so definitely a consideration for those who enjoy a spacious one.

Loved the beach and amenities. This was the best part of our experience! Gorgeous views, warm water and comfortable seating. Great service overall, would stay again for sure and ask for a room with a larger shower!

i have traveled to italy several times and have stayed at this hotel in the past.
the hotel has been renovated to a very good quality.
my on line request specifically stated i was looking for a bay from view. upon arrival, i once again specificed that i would have a bay front view. although reserved, i was told that one can not be garanteed such a request. and that if i did want a bay front there would be an additional
cost, Welcome to naples, where not only is the street hussle a scam and the taxis dont even charge you what the meter states, now the hotels seem to play the same game?

The hotel is outdated, the drain in the room shower is clogged and I've got a nail fungus. The hotel is full of moskitos and I ddin't sleep all nights. The breakfast was very poor for 4-stars hotel.
The was only one thing that really great - font desk clerk MonaLisa. She was very friendly and helpful with all our requests.

Great beachfront retreat. See and listen to the sea from most rooms. Incredibly solicitous staff at the front desk, in dining area and on the beach. The rooms are a bit small but comfortable. Very good value in expensive Taormina area.

When we stayed in Mid October the beach and balcony area was shaded because of the cliffs behind- which must apply to many beachfront properties in the area. So plan on doing swimming and sunbathing before 2 or 3pm. The property is almost a kilometer walk to the cable car that goes up to central Taormina along a beautiful but dangerous road with no sidewalk. This distance provides some relief from the crowds in many parts of Taormina

A 4* hotel that needs to live up to its rating.

An older property. The public rooms are kept nice and clean but the rooms are in need of new furniture and plumbing. The TV set (very small - is still an analog model)
We were told we were getting an update but I couldn't see what the difference was with the room I had booked (Photo, amenities)
The breakfast is plentiful but average. There were no takers for the scrambled eggs, bacon, and what looked like mini hot dogs. It did not look appetizing at all. The fruit except for the kiwi all came from cans.
On the plus side, every one there was very helpful, professional and friendly. The gardens are well kept with beautiful and interesting plants we had not seen before. The view of the sea is magnificent, especially at sunrise.

The good thing about this hotel is the location, however, this hotel built in 1968 is so far beyond repair and maintenance that only a total renovation or a complete rebuild would have us considering returning. For example, after we changed from our first room at 60 Euros per night extra, in the second \"upgraded\" room the shower leaked, the toilet was nearly impossible to flush (my wife was unable to push the flush mechanism leaving me the duty) and to used the toilet you had to either put your feet in the shower or sit sideways. The decor was without a doubt the original floor, doors, and furniture from the 1968 build. The only newer item was the 20\" tube tv from the 1980's?????!!!! The common areas are as dated and worn out as the rooms. This is a terrible hotel. There was no amount of effort that the staff could exert to make up for the location and their obvious frustration came through at the breakfast service when my wife was yelled at for getting a coffee 10 minutes early and we were stopped from taking a coffee and croissant to our room to enjoy on our balcony. For anyone reading this please understand we have spent two beautiful weeks in Sicily. We've rented a car and toured the island stopping in many locations, all were enjoyable with beautiful scenery and people. We've loved it!!! We have written this hoping to help you make the smart decision to NEVER book at this hotel.

We did enjoy our stay. We knew it was an older hotel and that was part of its charm the & staff very helpful.

One area we would suggest improvements is the breakfast.
To match the glorious surrounding the food was quite basic. Not many hotels serve tinned fruit so local fresh fruit would have been so much nicer

On the whole a hotel we would be happy to recommend.

The hotel was lovely. We had a room for 4 which had plenty of space and a beautiful view. The hotel beach was very nice and convenient for our son, who has a learning disability. The staff were very helpful. We especially enjoyed sitting on the hotel terrace overlooking the bay whilst eating breakfast, dinner or having drinks. We had no trouble parking at the hotel. Although the hotel is not far from other restaurants and hotels, the road has no pavement which meant that we tended to use the car if going out for dinner.

Proximity to beach a plus. Proximity to center of Taormina where restaurants and shopping are was a negative. No easy way to get to town other than car or taxi.

Perfect. The location, the hotel itself, the food, everything. Pretty amazing how well the 50s/60s furniture and fixtures have been preserved. Previous reviews that mention that the hotel is 'old' aren't actually fair. No, the hotel does not have flat screen televisions, nor anything else that would destroy its character for that matter. It does have incredible charm and it would be very sad to see it updated to become just another hotel. The staff was perfect also. Heaven.

Our honeymoon in Taormina was made all the more spectacular by our stay at Hotel Lido Méditerranée. Ideal location, we particularly LOVED the private beach which we could access whenever we wanted. Picturesque views which had me up at 5am every morning looking out from our balcony.. Most friendly and helpful lovely staff - in particular Julia and Francesco who really went out of their way to assist us and make sure our stay was perfect. Great location, Hotel provide enough and easy parking space which is very crucial for traveler who visit Sicily.
Stuff are so friendly and helpful, hotel restaurant serve good food and upscale service but reasonable price.

Loved our stay. Julia and the rest of the front desk staff were great. I strongly recommend splurging for the balcony over the ocean. Great to hear the waves crashing at night. Yes, the decor is dated but that was part of the charm.

One negative was not enough parking if you come in late at night.

We always love staying at this hotel the staff is warm and friendly and will help you out with all of your needs. Just being able to lay on the beach for a day or so and go up to Taormina for the evening is wonderful. The breakfast is breathtaking views in the morning hours.

Staff were very helpful, bit out of town for location but nearest centre for restaurants etc was within 15 minute walk. If driving forget about using car as parking is very difficult for access to shops etc, bonus is hotel have own car park for residents.

The view from the room onto the beach was stunning. If the hotel was a little dated in decor and furniture it made up for it in views and how great the staff were. The older gentlemen who looks after the restaurant was a legend, getting me my gluten free toast every morning. Beach chairs are also included with towels (as opposed to €25 at Isola Bella beach lol).

Great hotel in an excellent location. We had a very pleasant stay at the hotel. Breakfasts were included and were served on the patio by the beach. 5' walk from the funicular that takes you up to Taormina. The hotel has an 80's feel but the cleanliness, staff, location, and service will win you and have a great time.

Hotel Lido Mediterranee was absolutely wonderful. Lovely setting on the beach. Great friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you . We both loved it . We will definitely return to stay there .
Taormina was gorgeous. Hotel about a 15 minute walk away from the cable car up to the town . Even the weather could dampen our stay . We had a lovely holiday there . Thank you to all of the staff for making our stay so comfortable at the hotel.

Best location in that area

The view can't be better. Hotel is facing the sea and you can enjoy the sunrise from you bed literally. The sound of sea gets into you room - we kept the balcony door open overnight. Great secluded beach. Very nice terrace where you can dine outdoor at reasonable price with great view.

Nice hotel - but replace that chef, ASAP!

The hotel is nice; the facilities are good, above average, the beach was great. However, the hotel has a restaurant and there are no other restaurants in the area. The hotel restaurant is very expensive and the food is not very good (although the wait staff is good). Of the restaurants we visited in the 10+ cities we visited during this trip to Italy, this hotel restaurant had the worst food. The high prices are crazy, considered the mediocre food. In addition, do NOT order anything unusual in terms of drinks; you will be robbed - order directly off the menu or do NOT get the drink.

While at first we were a little disappointed that the hotel hasn't updated much since our last stay 15 years ago.. They more than made up for it changing our room upon request, and nice little touches which were not requested but they anticipated. ( I felt at home in a way they left me sad when leaving.. Like saying goodbye to my family! The beach is beautiful, chairs and towels provided, breakfast included with delicious cappuccino! My next stay will be here as it has always been every time I come to Taormina! Grazie Lido Mediterranee for another beautiful stay!

The worst experience in my life!

The condition of this hotel is very bad. Rooms out of date, two times smaller as you expected. You must wait 10 minutes before you will have hot water in your room. You will have internet for two device only. If you need wifi for you phone you must pay 5 bucks per day in addition. Ants in a room everywhere. No safe, no conditions, no glasses, no slippers and robes. Breakfast is tremendous and looks like your eggs was cooked couple days ago! You cannot order glass of wine! You must pay for full bottle! It's one star hotel with mould on the walls!

If you are looking for great service, a beautiful beach and good hotel food this is your place. The rooms need to be updated, and the bathrooms need to be redesigned. For the price we paid we were satisfied.

A bit rough around the edges, but good

A couple of reviews I read before booking said that the hotel was a bit worn. Definitely true, but the setting is so beautiful you shouldn't notice the shabby condition of the furniture, drapes and walls. It is also very quiet there except for the rolling surf. I'd stay there again because all things considered it was a great value in a great setting

Fabulous Hote with Stunning Views!

We stayed for 3 nights but could have stayed forever! Staff were very attentive, helpful and polite . Stunning views from our cute little Balcony, lovely setting like something out of a novel. Lovely food, fabulous breakfast under the shade trees. Very quiet and peaceful. Loved it .

Beautiful beach. Great area. Taormina. The room was simple but very nice. Breakfast was very good.

The walk into downtown was not so much fun. Not far, just under a kilometer, but very tight with cars & buses & no sidewalks.

Hotel location is breathtaking. Parking is a bit of a challenge and we took a taxi to go to the town so we wouldn't have to give up our spot. Other than that, everything was perfect. Good food with variety in the dining room.

Taormina holiday

Hotel well situated along spisone bay. Hotel was a great choice. Walking distance 900 meters away is a lift to bring you to center Taormina for shopping and dining and nightlife. Lift is a little far but a great way to get exercise in. Really enjoyed the hotel and its location.

Wonderful older hotel right on the beach! It has been kept up very nice and the staff is wonderful. You are a $15 cab ride into town which is much earlier than driving and parking yourself. Town is unbelievable!

Easy access in Taormina with Awesome Beach

We were touring Sicily. We needed a good location in Taormina. The hotel was as reviewed. The best feature was the beach with deep clear water on a beautiful bay. The second best feature was easy access to Taormina. There is a 1,500 ft elevation gain from the beach to the city in 0.6 miles. Not easily walked. The hotel is an old resort but it has some fresh paint. The staff is experienced and helpful. We bought the 4 single roll away beds in the Quad package. It was a tight fit in a small room. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was adequate. Dinner was formal and above our budget. Given that most things in Taormina are expensive, we thought the location, beach, parking, wifi and breakfast made it a good value.

Outstanding service and beach stay for the price!

The Lido Mediterranee shares a beautiful stretch of Taormina's shoreline with many four and five star hotels--it offers a Mediterranean beach vacation experience at a much more reasonable price. The reception, dining, beach and cleaning staff are incredibly warm, friendly and professional--they take their jobs, and the comfort of their guests, extremely seriously. The building and furnishings are not new, but the entire plant is well cared for and still possesses a stately elegance (imagine if an episode of Mad Men had been set in Sicily.) Every room has a breathtaking view of the beach, ocean, and mainland Reggio di Calabria in the distance; some have balconies, a nice plus. Breakfast is hearty (though the excellent cappuccino isn't free); all meals are offered on the spacious patio overlooking the sea, and there is also an indoor dining room. A true \"lido\" (beach club), the hotel provides towels, lounge chairs and food service by the sea. The sister hotel up the hill in the town of Taormina has a pool which guests may use free (but which I didn't get a chance to try out--the sea always seemed more appealing). The only surprise to this American traveler was the ban on irons--no iron in the room, and guests are instructed to use the hotel's laundry/pressing service. This may be common in Italy? There was a hairdryer and mini fridge. A truly lovely stay--I will visit again.

Quiet charming hotel right on the edge of the sea

The hotel has an old world Italian charm which for ourselves was perfect for the holiday we sought. A beautiful setting as close to the sea as you can get without getting your feet wet. The food at lunch time and dinner was exceptional and all Italian regional cooking and a menu that changed daily. Breakfast was perfectly acceptable. The staff were all very welcoming, helpful, cheerful and friendly. The hotel lacked a swimming pool and the sea with boulders and significant swell was not really suitable nor ideal for non-swimmers. Nevertheless having an easily accessible private beach and dedicated lifeguard should give all confidence. The sister hotel in Taormina had a lovely pool which we used. The hotel is on a fairly busy road outside Taormina but has small attractive resorts very close-by and restaurants etc. in walking distance, although unfortunately there are no pavements. You can get to Taormina high on the cliff by cable car (900m away) or by bus, both very inexpensive. Taormina is quite stunning and quite the most beautiful place you can imagine with loads happening. Would we go back? Oh yes!

Beautiful position for a charming Hotel

The Hotel has an old world charm in it's décor. There is a large terrace for outdoor dining or just taking in the view and two lounge areas indoors and a dining room. The reception is on the 3rd floor and the dining and access to the beach is on floor 0. The constant attention on the beach from the lifeguard was amazing and so helpful. The hotel supplies towels for their private beach and there are no charges for sun loungers or parasols. Although the breakfast is adequate it was much the same every day and a little more variety would be nice. The fresh fruit however was delicious. I had booked two twin rooms for the four of us and was surprised to find that I had to pay a supplement of 20 euros a night for an extra person in each room.Please be careful as this has never happened to me before in years of booking hotels.Why would you request twin beds for one person? The hotel staff were extremely helpful at all times and made our stay very good. The bay is beautiful and do take a boat ride around the coastline from outside the Hotel. Beautiful! A source of annoyance on the beach was the presence of 'lookie lookie' people and offers of massages who are very persistent. It is a constant interruption to conversation or reading. I would recommend the hotel for its charm it is like walking into an Audrey Hepburn movie set!

Nice hotel in the best location

I can't say enough about my recent stay at this hotel. If you're expecting glitz, glamor and ultra-modern, this is not the place for you. If you are wanting a beautiful hotel that retains the charm of its past, then this is the place for you. The rooms were large and immaculately clean. The hotel staff is some of the best I've ever encountered. Always helpful, cheerful and wanting to insure you have an excellent experience. The location is ideal for relaxing and water sports. Taormina is about 10 minutes away and easy to get to by cable car, bus or shuttle.
