We booked a superior room having selected the hotel as a ‘pet friendly’ destination. However, on arrival it became clear that the hotel is (at best) pet ‘reluctantly accepted’. Pets are not allowed in any public rooms and only standard rooms are available for guests with pets. The standard room, was reasonably spacious with a large double bed and bath. However, there was no fridge in the room and only plastic tumblers provided but no glassware at all. The disappointing experience was alleviated by some wonderful staff who did their best to mitigate the problems to the best of their abilities. Since we were unable to take our breakfast in the dining room, as we were informed that unless caged our dog could not be left alone in the room, we offered breakfast in bed at no extra cost. Overall, despite the best efforts of the staff, the hotel can not reasonably be described as pet friendly and that is reflected in our overall rating.

Room was absolutely freezing rang reception brought a broken heater which we where concerned to use the noise from bar was like sleeping in a night club we put our order for breakfast to the room on the door at 6:30 pm and it was still there when we checked out we’ve stayed her 10/15 times in the past never again
When we went to complain on check out there was 60/65 people waiting to either check in out and a wedding and funeral so I just left room key on side and walked way discussing service for the price paid

We visited for Christmas with our child, dog and wider family. We liked the location and spa facilities, and the breakfast was exceptional. Our dog-friendly room was very small, especially with a cot we found to hard to get the pram in and out. We were close to reception and was woken up early by hoovering and staff (not reception staff) talking very loudly closeby. The reception staff were great but had an issue with one of the managers when raising an issue about one of our party’s rooms. The room could do with a bit of upkeep, like the bathroom door not closing and locking.

We had a very pleasant stay, mainly thanks to the excellent leisure facilities. The pool was clean and inviting, the jacuzzi was relaxing, and the sauna added a great touch to the overall experience. These amenities really made our visit enjoyable. While there’s still room for small improvements, the wellness area definitely stood out and made our stay worth recommending.

We then realised we could have ordered something off the menu asked about this as our breakfast was too cold to eat and said you can but will be a charge, even though they could see we had hardly touched our breakfast.

Beautiful hotel with lovely grounds and great food

Stayed in the standard double room. Lovely decor, plenty of space with big patio doors overlooking the grounds. Loved the food in the restaurant (Charchoa), great quality and excellent service. Enjoyed the hour at the swimming pool and sauna. Also dog friendly in the room which was great. Wi-fi connection was also very good and room came with a big flatscreen TV. The bath in the room was also lovely. Also had a drink in the Clubhouse and the prices were reasonable. Would love to come again and have some Spa treatments (only stayed for 1 night so didn’t have too much time)

Came for a special occasion. Although lovely touch to dress the room with petals and towel swan it wasn’t a romantic break. I was very disapointed that we were given a room that was very shabby scuffed paint on walls and had a very strong musty smell throughout our stay. I think it was one off the rooms they use for people bringing dogs. Just felt very dated and in need of refresh. Didn’t even have a hairdryer in room. Overall the hotel grounds are lovely and spa in nice. Food in restaurant was mixed. Had a nice meal there but the breakfast was cold and a bit chaotic in there. Overall didn’t get the experience I thought I would for the price paid sadly. Would not recommend or return. I did give reception my feedback but they didn’t seem to be that bothered about it too. Not the best experience at all.

The staff made our experience fabulous. Everyone we met was helpful, friendly and accommodating. I am disabled and needed to use a mobility scooter to get around, nothing was too much bother. The first room was difficult to access for me, we informed reception and were seamlessly and quickly moved to another room. The restaurants, expecially Fusion were amazing, the food was some of the best we have had! We celebrated our wedding anniversary and my husbands birthday, we were treated to a special desert and our room was decorated with rose petals, towel art and complimentary chocolates. I had read mixed reviews, however, our experience was first class. Yes some areas need touching up a little, having said that, the staff made our visit amazing. Due to medical conditions I didnt know if I would be able to use the spa facilties, Lilly to the rescue!! She escorted us to a different access point, where I was able to park my scooter much nearer, she checked I was able to access the hydrotherapy pool safely, this small act of kindness had an enormous impact on my wellbeing, she made such a difference, what lovely people they all are. Whatever they did, they did with a smile and genuinely cared. The only suggestion I have for improvement would be to have a sign in the car park asking guests using room facilities for events, to respect others by not drivng around the car park at speed or sit revving engines for over an hour, whist blocking access. We've stayed at the Ramside a few times over the years. It's nice enough but not outstanding. Our deluxe room was advertised as having Bathrobes and air-conditioning. It had neither. When i queried this i was informed that only guests on Spa breaks got robes....! (Our booking was made via Expedia so a discrepancy? )
Receptionist said she'd get some sent to our room. She did, so all good.
We had breakfast booked next morning which was nice.

This is a lovely hotel with great accommodation and facilities. I had booked a deluxe room and from the Expedia room information this room had AC. Unfortunately, when we got to our room it was very hot ( 31 degrees outside) and it didn't have AC. I went down to the reception desk with my proof of AC showing on that website. Apparently, this is an error!! They do have rooms with AC, but it was £10 extra ( Premium room). After a bit of discussion and the member of staff phoning a manager, we were upgraded for no extra charge ( just a pity it took a phone call). Expedia need to fix this error on their website.
Overall, a lovely hotel to stay in.

Our stay was very good. The room was very spacious but could have been cleaner. I have lung disease and there was a lot of dust under the sidebourd cabinets. It certainly hadn't been hoovered for awhile. The outside area of the room could also have been maintained. There was a door leading out to a seating area. We didn't have a seat but the rooms the otherside of us did. The outside was grubby and hadn't been looked after so weeds had taken over but it would have been a nice place to sit. Around the outdoor pool area could have been cleaner. I know this is a large hotel and hard to maintain but it is 4 star and you pay 4 star rates so expect 4 star treatment and cleanliness.

I had high expectations of the hotel based on reputation and cost but it was not great. We were attending a charity ball event and had taken a bottle of champagne for drinks in the room beforehand. The hotel would not provide ice bucket and ice for bottles brought in by guests. Breakfast buffet was almost empty with 20 mins to go. And the staff seemed to be generally unhappy. Customer experience was just not so great…

I heard really good things about Ramside hall but when I arrived my expectations were lowered. Upon arrival, the staff were great, couldn’t fault them. When I got to the room, the room wasn’t great, lights didn’t work, wardrobe was absolutely full of dust, coffee stains on table, carpets stained and there was also stains on the walls. I asked for the room to be checked over, which they did, when I went to the room the second time everything was still the same as before. Was very disappointed, won’t be going back again.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE

We booked our stay at Ramside Hall as it’s an ideal spot to stay whilst visiting family, unfortunately we had the most awful experience, there was a wedding being held there which we was unaware of until we came out of the restaurant on our first night and was bombarded with groups of loud women and lots of children running around, we then decided to find a quieter area of the
Hotel to sit in, when going back to our room and during the night when trying to sleep some or all of the group of loud woman and children were staying in rooms opposite ours, the noise and banging of doors seemed to go on for hours, the second night was even worse as it was the evening of the wedding party, more continuous noise and banging of doors which was still happening at 4am which then led me to ring reception to ask if they would tell these people to be more quiet and show some sort of respect to others, these people were still continuing to be so loud and rude the next morning at breakfast so we decided not to eat ours, we will not be returning to this hotel as it’s been such a horrendous experience we still can’t get over it, one of the managers did say he was sorry but when we checked out the girl on reception didn’t have the decency to apologise just asked us what we had planned for the day she clearly knew how upset we was. It’s not the staffs thought but they should however think very carefully where they decide to select rooms for visitors not near very loud disrespectful people.

We had a spa day which was fabulous and then stayed over. We chose to eat in Charcoa restaurant on the evening. I ordered mince and dumplings and my friend Salmon. The food had obviously been there for sometime. Both meals were cold as were the vegetables. We sent them back and ordered a pizza which was cooked fresh. Everything else about the stay including breakfast was very good.

Stayed here for one night on business. Great rate for the night. Check in great. Room fantastic with a bit of wow factor upon entering. Very clean, comfy bed.

Fusion restaraunt food lovely but service not great. I was approached almost as soon as i sat down for food ordering but i hadnt seen the menu yet so i asked for 2 minutes. 15 minutes later a server came and apologised for the wait. Which at least she acknowledged i was waiting. Food came, lovely and tasty, but noone checked on me to see if everything was okay with my meal. Then when i finished my meal i waited for what felt like forever for someone to clear my plates. When someone finally came over i just asked for the bill and didnt even wait for my plates to be cleared. Just a bit of advice, when there is a solo female traveller eating on her own, she may not feel comfortable waiting around for so long. This doesnt bother me but i do know colleagues and friends who sometimes may feel vulnerable because travelling on business and just wants to eat and leave. This was not possible for me and i was left for around 45 minutes longer than needed. I did try to catch the servers eyes but they genuinely did not look in my direction at all. So felt a little overlooked. Bit of a shame.

Limited availability to the pool, you’re granted an hour but not when it’s busy. Which is obviously correspondant to the amount of spa usage.
We were only offered a late evening slot.
Nice room, a few issues, no bedding on the bed on arrival and no plug in the bath but both issues were resolved.
We would stay again but probably not a Saturday and try to pre book a slot in the pool better or the spa itself

Clean but not spotless - housekeeping can be hit and miss. A few minor maintenance issues with the room: missing lock on bathroom door, holes in carpet. Overall the hotel is pretty good, but what really lets it down are the guests: noisy, mouthy, and leaving a strong smell of weed in the corridors and outside.
