The lady on reception was lovely, her name Larysa and she upgraded my sister and I to a prestige room with dressing gowns, slippers, a king size bed, complimentary drinks in the fridge, chocolate cinder toffee and a coffee machine, lovely touches and thank you so much!

Breakfast was not served at the time we allocated on the food passport we left outside of our room on the door before collection at 8pm,
This happened through out our stay here, and we had to call for our food, every single day!!!
We booked an insane amount of money for a room without a view, we got sent to the back of the hotel to observe the dirty roofs every single sunrise we spent there
When we checked in the first day, the toilet was unflushed
Our first stay, which was in December, we realized after a very hot passionate night that the bed they assigned in our room was two single beds joined together to deliver the illusion that it was a king sized bed, which was even smaller than a regular double by the way, which kept splitting in two, despite all attempts to sleep comfortably, we couldn’t!!
I am starting to think this is a poor attempt at a racist rage bait!!
We would like to be treated with better hospitality, and more attention the next time we check in.

The room was fine. Every morning at 4am staff would walk the corridor, talking loudly and letting every fire door bang, which there are a lot of on the corridors.

No staff on Reception fir check out for me to share my complaint with, attempted visiting Reception 3 times before I left and still unable to speak to a member of staff.

We booked the superior room which was lovely and very good value for money. The only thing that let it down was that the bath was filthy.

We didn’t have breakfast or use any of the facilities but we did order room service. The food was very nice and arrived hot and well presented.
The lady on reception on arrival and checkout wasn’t the friendliest which was quite disappointing.
Overall a pleasurable stay but could have been perfect if not for the dirty bath and unfriendly receptionist.

We booked a room which inc breakfast each morning. Every morning we were told by staff breakfast is extra £17.40pp Had to go through same argument daily of paying £35 then getting this refunded at reception as they would not correct the records. Witnessed 10 other people suffer the same fate. Awful way to start the day , not relaxing at all. The breakfast itself was not even worth it. Very poorly ran, constantly running out of everything from plates to eggs, juice etc. Constantly waiting for things to be filled as staff are not proactively monitoring everything and wait for customers to tell them before acting. Staff have a completely slopey shoulders approach to complaints, always just blaming another dept for errors. They managed to lock access to our rooms 1 hr before check out (for us and multiple other guests) Feel like I spent more time at reception than enjoying our time away. Urgently need new management team - completely ineffectively ran. The small terrace we had has clearly not been cleaned in months. Bird poo all over the railings, filled with old leaves and masses of cobwebs all over the door frame. Service completely ruined our stay

Receptionist was very welcoming and helpful. Rooms were clear and the food was good. My only critisicm would be the Gym and Spa facilities. The poolside was dirty as people had used their outdoor footwear to walk into the pool. The gym equipment was very dated but functional.

Our stay was a continuous, frustrating saga involving three different rooms, none of which met basic standards for comfort or cleanliness.
The initial room was incredibly dated. The mattress was so old that it completely collapsed the moment I sat on it, making it impossible to sleep comfortably. The bedding was also stained with dirty marks so clearly the cleaning was not up to normal standards.

Adding to the discomfort, the radiator made an awful, disruptive banging noise as soon as I entered the room and didnt stop regardless of it was on or off. We immediately complained and requested a move.
We were moved to a second room which, while slightly less dated, was noticeably grubby. The most disappointing aspect was the \"King Bed,\" which was clearly just two single beds pushed together with a seam running down the middle. This is unacceptable for a hotel room advertised as having a king-size offering. We asked to swap rooms again, but the receptionist insisted the hotel was fully booked and there was no other rooms.
It wasn't until we pushed for a refund that the situation magically changed. The receptionist contacted the manager, and suddenly, an \"upgraded\" room became available. This room was visually much more modern, but its appearance was entirely superficial, it was filthy. The final, and most disruptive, issue was the constant noise pollution. Every single time a toilet on our floor was flushed, we were woken up by a loud, horrendous banging and gushing noise.

the free upgrade was very much appreciated All the staff were amazing the free drinks and packet of chocs in the room were a welcome surprise especially as it was a birthday break .
However the meal in the attached restaurant was disappointing both taste and cost wise the and the drinks were too expensive

It was very average, definitely not bad, but not what I'd call great.

I stayed 2 nights, room didn't get cleaned - perhaps this was an environmental and sustainability thing. Not the end of the world but its nice to have your bed made in a hotel.

The breakfast was ok.

The bar was ok.

The gym was good. Quality well made robust equipment and clean so positive hear.

The pool was cold and too small. Very limited seating capacity around the pool.

The sauna ok, bit small.

The steamroom didnt really work but at least they had one.

Note i stayed in winter during a storm so i didn't get to use the gold facilities which looked good through my window.

Reception staff friendly.

Cracked bath and bath panel, a shower that fires water past the bath, past the sink and out of the bathroom door, you can’t put a straight shower head on a bracket that you can’t angle down, it doesn’t work. Room was dated and just felt a bit grotty. Not worth the price they charge.

Booked the hotel as I was told by reception that the bar shut at 11pm so when o finished work at 10.15pm headed there and arrive 10.40pm and they had shut the bar early - I had been working since 8am that morning and only booked that hotel as told bay was open till 11pm could have booked elsewhere a lot cheaper but their bars shut at 10.30pm. When got to my room the tv remote would not work the tv so very frustrated went to bed

The room was clean, really good large fluffy towels in the bathroom. Overall the room seemed a little tired. The springs on one side of the bed were noisy so had to sleep on the other side.

On check out asked to pay a bill of £144.18 obviously did not since room was pre paid. Not sure what this was about.

The hotel is really nice and staff are dead friendly. The second to,e we’ve stayed. The only gripe, which I don’t like moaning, was when we stayed last time the manager in the restaurant and staff were superb, couldn’t do enough. This time, whomever is the”manager”, isn’t? The food was lovely, the service for one lad was great, you blonde lad but thereafter was bad. Waited ages for drinks and about 25 minutes for the bill, which surely is where you should be on the ball? Had to ask for our bill twice! Wasn’t busy but staff not managed well? Maybe just a poor day but if you look when we last stayed and who the manager was, you should have kept him? Overall though a lovely place, thank you

We booked this hotel for a one-night stay on September 13, 2025 . Our experience was shockingly bad.

· Room was dirty on arrival: The bathroom bin was full of previous guests' disgusting waste. The toilet seat was also loose and broken.

· Extremely noisy: Room 316 is next to the hotel's loud chimney and extractor fan. The constant mechanical noise, plus loud music and people shouting, made sleep impossible. We have video proof of the noise.

· Worst customer service: We called reception multiple times—no one answered. We had to go down in person to complain. The staff did nothing for over 2 hours. When we complained about the noise, the receptionist offered a refund and told us to leave at 8 PM instead of helping.

This was the worst hotel experience we have ever had. We do not recommend this hotel to anyone. Avoid Room 316 at all costs.

The room was large and clean. The bed was comfortable but the breakfast wasn't up to standard for people with dietary requirements such as gluten free or vegetarian. The Carter and Fitch restaurant was good with great options for peoplw with restricted diets. The pool area was small and could get crowded if 6 or more people were in it but it was clean and well maintained. Overall it was a nice stay but the hotel wasn't quite at the standard I would expect for 4 star.

Worst stay of the year

Absolute horror show from start to finish. Checked in and the room was the noisiest place in Washington. It was right next to some huge fans to the outside window which were like an aeroplane taking off. On asking to be moved I was told they were in the process lf selling electricity back to the grid and that is the noise. Great. I was offered another room but these were standard not upgraded so no air con and boiling hot. Decided best to stay in the noisy room and then discovered the shower was in such poor condition the what just went sidewards out of the shower head and to top it off there was no hot water meaning I had to have a cold shower.

When I checked in someone was asleep in my room, I was then told I was “lucky” that there was one room left available in the hotel… as though I should have been thankful for the error.

Rooms were ridiculously hot, left uncomfortable through the night.

Walls paper thin, if you’re nosey and like to listen to other people’s conversations this is the hotel for you

Ok... great stay but a few thimgs contributed to losing that 5th star... the room, great but the privilege junior is massively overpriced. The spa needs some remedial repairs, also, weird as hell to have to get changed and walk down a hallway to the spa, pool etc where people are walking in shoes, worse coming back wet. Service in the spa wasnt great but the chlorine was exetremy high in the jacuzzi particularly, both our eyes are in porr shape yet no staff to complain to. Food was excellent although service was like 2 different hotels between friday and aaturday nights.

The hotel is very dated and other than the food there wasn't much to shout about. The restaurant was very good from menu choices to food presentation and taste. Breakfast was good but expensive for what it is.
The hotel room was very dated, creaky floors and doors, king size bed actually two single beds pushed together with a rubbish topper so you can feel the joint. Broken shower didn;t help in the morning either.

Staff on the desk were generally friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, I had a drip coming into my room through the ceiling and was moved after my second night.... the second room also had a drip from the sink waste pipe. The shower gel holder fell off in the middle of the night and the room's only window looked out onto a corridor (noisy and just plain weird).

Both rooms were very hot (at least the window in the first room opened). From a personal point of view, I found the mattresses too soft and the pillows an awkward height.

The on-site restaurant's menu sounded good but I was left disappointed each time.

EV chargers in the carpark were available and all worked while I was there.

George Washing Hotel - well worth a visit!

Whistle stop visit for one night - stayed here quite a few times! It's a good hotel although the lack of aircon in the rooms can make them a tad uncomfortable in summer months and even in freezing outside temps my room was roasting.

That said the staff are pleasant, the room was clean and in good condition and the hotel has EV points which is a great bonus.0

Due to the festive season, the Spa closed early, which meant when we checked in just before 6pm, we were unable to use the facilities. I advised the staff member that this was a large factor in booking the stay but I was not made aware of the changes in spa closing times. He was brilliant and extended my checkout to 12pm as well as upgrading our room to a Privelidge room.

Hotel room was nice we were there for a xmas do our partners came and had made reservations for the restaurant while we were in the party they were told they could not serve food until the 3 partys had been served so they had to get in a taxi to go for something to eat they arrived back at 10 got a drink in carter and miler pub and wete told they had to get out as were closing this was 10.15 there was no other bar to go to as there was 3 other functions on no bar for the hotel guest the young bar man was also rude rolling his eyes and saying it was the higher managment very poor service lots of people walking out the restaurant when they were trying to get food not good enough for this hotel spoke to reception and they said manager woukd ring no calls tho
