Tucked in a quiet village yet close to many other Cotswold experiences we loved our stay here. Rooms are spacious and comfy, staff are friendly and helpful and it was nice to come home to the pub and restaurant after a long day of exploring.

From the moment we stepped through the door to one of the nicest welcomes we have had at a hotel to the moment we left was just perfect. Our room, ‘The Study’ was superb, and so clean and comfortable, and the decor and design is beautiful. Welcome tray with great selection of teas and cafetière for coffee. We slept so well. The dining room is amazing as are all the staff, and again one of the best breakfasts ever. Howard Arms you are amazing, we will be back. Thank you Keith & Gwen

The staff were absolutely lovely, and the breakfast spread was one of the best I've had at a B&B. My only suggestion would be that I noticed a few spiders behind the headboard and curtain, along with some dust and cobwebs in a couple of areas, which gave the impression that those spots hadn't been used in a while. Aside from that, I couldn't find anything to fault.

Ilmington is a charming village and it is still unspoilt by tourism and traffic. It is so bucolic as the sheep graze on the hills surrounding the village and the quiet of the night is worth the price of admission. We loved the Howard Arms. The Village room was spacious and had loads of history and beautiful features. Breakfasts were plentiful with good options. We will definitely stay here again if we return to this part of the Cotswolds.

Surprised on the upside by the welcoming and friendly staff, the coziness of the bar and restaurant which was clearly a magnet for the local community, felt authentic and welcoming! Enjoyed a wonderful dinner in the evening, and an incredibly generous breakfast which we did not manage to finish due to the sumptuous dinner the night before! Would definitely recommend for anyone visiting the surrounding Cotswold villages if you want something cosy and authentic!

The Howard Arms was fantastic! The room was clean and the bed was super comfortable. We were worried because our room was right over the beer garden, but everything was closed and quiet by 10 pm. The tavern decor is really nice and we had a very good quality dinner and breakfast there. It’s in a quaint small village and we took some lovely walks directly from the Inn. I highly recommend for a weekend or romantic getaway destination!

A delightful two-night break in this beautiful cosy inn. We stayed in The Old Beams room, which is lovely. Breakfast was delicious and served in the beautiful dining room. The bar area is so atmospheric with the flagstone floor, beams, amazing fire and candlelight. The food was also fab, staff were very friendly. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay for a winter break.

If you’re looking for an authentic Cotswold experience, this is your place!
It’s set in the beautiful countryside, away from the crowded villages. The Inn is adorable, and tastefully furnished in period design. The dining room serves delicious, English dishes, and there’s a cozy pub, along with a back garden area for relaxation! The only negative was no air conditioning, but we had a floor fan that kept us comfortable.

Pleasant stay in peaceful village.
Situated in a very sleepy village we found our stay to be restful and quiet. The bedroom - the old beams- was delightful including the sloping floor! Bed was very comfortable with super pillows. Hospitality tray was excellent. Good quality toiletries in the bathroom which was disappointing compared to the room and the blurb. Certainly highly functional though not luxurious. Mould in a number of places on the shower sealant not to be expected. Breakfast on both mornings was super. Staff truly warm and friendly. Dinner was very flavoursome.
Overall a very pleasant stay. Be mindful of rural buses - the last bus from Stratford is not a late one. Better to drive and park in one of the many car parks than miss the last bus and face a hefty taxi bill.

This was a last minute booking for us, and the manager and staff were wonderful. Great pub, out of doors area, updated and very clean room, and a wonderful custom made brakfast. The Inn is over 300 years old and charming but modern. They even sent us on a fantastic hike the next day. A great place to stay!

A fantastic find. A 5 star stay.
The only fault about our stay at the Howard Arms is that our stay wasn't long enough. The whole stay is about quality, from staff approach to the amazing food. We stayed in the Summer Room, which was clean modern, comfortable and designed for every eventuality a guest would need. The bed was amazingly comfortable which is our main requirement when staying in a hotel. I would certainly return, but for longer.

Staff very friendly. Manager offered to carry our cases up to our room on arrival. He also lent us a charging cable for the ipad. Breakfast staff very pleasant and very apologetic when the croissants failed to be delivered on our last day.

We arrived after a long 3 hour journey to be greeted by a very angry, dull, waiter/barman? who was very rude.
Then a very pleasant lady took over.
She was very friendly, polite, and courteous- her name was Kat - she really went out of her way to make us feel welcome and the rest of our stay was brilliant.
We later found out that Kat is the Supervisor and she certainly is an asset to The Howard Arms!
The restaurant and food was top class and once again Kat and her wonderful team were brilliant!

She was very friendly, polite, and courteous- her name was Kat - she really went out of her way to make us feel welcome and the rest of our stay was brilliant.
We later found out that Kat is the Supervisor and she certainly is an asset to The Howard Arms!

A beautiful location and a pleasant room. The evening meal was disappointing- a very basic roast and very little choice on the menu. However, breakfast was excellent with wonderful service- the best we had in the Cotswolds with every detail thought about.
