We didn’t check in until 4pm, and even then the process took an additional 15–20 minutes. The staff were slow in processing guests, and once we finally received our room key, we discovered it was located on the far side of the hotel, requiring a long walk.

Although we had paid for breakfast, it was very disappointing. The hot food lacked flavour, and we were surprised to be charged extra for non-filtered coffee.
We also had a spa treatment, which was good in itself, but the overall customer service was lacking. The spa facilities were poor: the male changing room needed cleaning, there were no shower gel products available, and rubbish had been left on the counters and floor. When we mentioned the lack of shower gel, staff said they had been waiting on a delivery for the past couple of weeks. The steam room appeared outdated, and only one of the two showers near the sauna and steam room was working. The area generally looked like it needed a thorough clean.
The pool area was extremely busy, with very limited space to place our towels.
Overall, improved cleanliness and attention to detail would make a significant difference, as there are several areas that clearly require improvement.

Room was lovely and I’m so glad we asked for a room upgrade so we could stay in the Manor House. Lovely lady checking us in also. The room was a little tired but to be expected, just a hole in the glass window which was making the room cold. Only hiccup was we asked for fresh milk for our coffee in the morning which took ages and led us checking out later than the required 11am. Other than that, lovely stay and hopefully stay again next summer and visit the spa when we have more time.

Have previously visited this hotel, we decided to return. The staff were absolutely amazing, friendly helpful a total asset to the company. Brilliant breakfast, we also had dinner here, which we couldn’t fault. We had a twin room, and to be honest I dont think it was worth the money we paid, which was over £200 for the night. The curtains were torn and the fringe was hanging off. The water dispenser outside the room, didnt contain sparkling water, it was empty. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. I stayed due to us being impressed on a previous visit and because of the location. We had no sockets by the bed, so had to ask for an extension, as my sister wears a breathing mask at night.

Breakfast was a buffet one morning yet served the other. I had been expecting a served hot breakfast both mornings. Restaurant feels like a goldfish bowl if you are unlucky and get tables around the edge (mainly tables of 2 so we did each day).
Hotel rooms are in a very tired and ugly building behind the attractive frontage of the hotel. Room was average, I expected better from a 4star. Window didn’t close, bed had a foot missing and bathroom floor tiles scratched and marked so looked very scruffy.

Excellent service, solid room and great housekeeping. But I think being held to a 3pm check in isn’t the best service (I arrived at 12.30, came back at 2.30 and felt the check in was just out of principle). Breakfast - service was great but porridge was terrible, no fresh fruit and why is an avocado charged at a £5 supplement to paying for breakfast?

Really disappointed.. we got a luxury double and I the pictures came with lovely exposed beams and four poster bed. I even sent an email to the property to say I am looking forward to sleep in that amazing bed as seen in the picture. The hotel replied saying” looking forward to see you …” what room did we get: … a very tired standard double bed , the robinet in the bathroom was not working well and was spinning in the empty, the bath tab was old and yellow the sink metal had chips , the wall paper was not right , no exposed wood instead old paper wall with air bubbles yellow and in places almost coming off, no light in the cupboard, no cosmetic mirror in the bathroom .. tea caddy and coffee was not plentiful for two persons. breakfast too expensive so we walked in the town where there are many beautiful old restaurants offering quality full breakfast. Positives: the bed was comfortable. Bar downstairs had a nice and friendly barman . Should have booked somewhere else ! my heart to see such a beautiful and old charming building being in such a state …

The room was on bad condition with broken and tired fittings. There was no hot water in the shower and the view was poor. Thete was no phone in the room to request room service or complain. As we were put in a room that was over both the kitchen and reception, the reception staff and chef's need to put on music at 7.30am and 8.30am woke us up early. Im preety sure this was a room intended as staff accommodation. The relaxing holiday we were hoping to have was far from true and cost over £400 for 2 nights. The manager was meant to call me but hasn't bothered. The location and bar staff are the only reason I haven't rated this venue as 1 star.

Very impressive entrance and front of the hotel, very Stratford! Our rooms were as far away from reception as it was possible to be, but you can park right outside. There’s a lock on the main door which requires your room key to gain entry, would be nice if they actually activated this rather than just leaving it unlatched for anyone to wander in.
Rooms were really good, the biggest bed I have ever seen! Table and two chairs, dresser, ample wardrobe and modern bathroom. The water fountain in the hallway was a nice bonus, especially with the jug in the room. A big plus to have Elemis toiletries provided as these are what I use at home, but maybe add a body cream, seemed odd to provide shampoo but no conditioner too . Cleanliness was spot on, including the daily service.
The hotel has a cosy bar and lounge but if you’re in the 200 block it’s about half a mile walk from your room and drinks are very pricey.
We didn’t have breakfast on site as it was £18 per person at the discounted rate, you’re so close to town with numerous alternatives.
As it was a birthday treat I had a treatment at the spa, which was eye wateringly expensive, literally over three times the price of anywhere else in town, but can’t fault the treatment and atmosphere. Maybe offer hotel guests a discounted treatment? A big selling point for us was the swimming pool and gym, both really nice and made full use of during our stay, but do get very busy!

We had a lovely long weekend stay. The hotel has lots of character . Set in a great location for visiting the area. All the staff were friendly and the breakfast choice and quality is excellent. We stayed in the coach house, a great size room with lots of facilities . Wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

Much better than expected as reviews were poor.Great from the start.Loads of parking.We were early at check in but were allowed to use the pool while we waited for our room to be available.Great family friendly hotel.We ordered room service all quick and efficent and food was good and hot.Breakfast was very good.I am gluten free and the staff could not have been more helpful.Everyone was very kind to my son and I.Will return most definitely.

Very disappointing stay. The room was shabby and the breakfast basic. The room needs updating and electric sockets installing near the bed instead of at the table. This was very inconvenient particularly for mobile phone charging.
On the second day of my stay there was a large wedding party which completely took over the hotel and all the public areas inside and out. As a result, there was nowhere to sit so was virtually confined to my room as I was unable to enjoy the hotel’s facilities. Also, some of the wedding party was on the corridor and it was very noisy in the early hours. It should’ve been pointed out to other guests that there would be limited access to public areas on that day. I did mention this as I checked out and the receptionist, though pleasant, said that there was still access to public areas. What she failed to understand was that neither I nor the wedding party wanted to be involved with each other. This was meant to be a very special trip for me, but I was bitterly disappointed. My two constructive emails to McDonald’s have been ignored, which I find rude and a sad indictment of falling standards.
On the second day of my stay there was a large wedding party which completely took over the hotel and all the public areas inside and out. As a result, there was nowhere to sit so was virtually confined to my room as I was unable to enjoy the hotel’s facilities. Also, some of the wedding party was on the corridor and it was very noisy in the early hours. It should’ve been pointed out to other guests that there would be limited access to public areas on that day. I did mention this as I checked out and the receptionist, though pleasant, said that there was still access to public areas. What she failed to understand was that neither I nor the wedding party wanted to be involved with each other. From now on I will always ask a question if there is a private function at any time during my stay.

Lovely overnight stay, clean room, fabulous swimming pool and incredibly friendly staff. Service in the bar and at breakfast could not be faulted. Breakfast was hot, tasty and plentiful - we will be back!

Our 4 day experience was excellent the staff in the restaurant,bar and house keeping where all very professional and a credit to the hotel what massively let the hotel down was the prices in the bar 2 double gin and 1 bottle of tonic water £28.00!! Cmon Macdonalds you cannot believe that is fair!! In us you had a captive audience but we went across the road a had the same drinks for literally half the price we would have liked to have spent more time in the hotel but sadly not at those prices

Well not bad but tired room, air conditioning wasn’t working in our room and we knew was a hot night so particularly booked for this so very annoying and another so called 4* hotel with a fridge taken out of room !!! Positives lovely comfy bed.

Lovely place, but needs more attention to detail
Very attractive buildings and grounds, but lack of attention to detail rather blunted our enjoyment of the stay. I had rung ahead to request a sheet and blanket raher than a duvet, and someone had called to say this would be arranged. It had not: there was an extra, empty duvet cover on top of the duvet on the bed, The receptionist tried to find me a blanket, but to no avail. There was no fridge in the room, although a cupboard had clearly held one in the past. We had the afternoon tea, which was good, but took 35 minutes to arrive after the booked time. It was in the bar, not in the restaurant as we had been told, and the heroic and excellent single barman had to go repeatedly to the kitchen to see where it was. We paid fro breakfast on the first morning, but were not told that the full menu would not be available as it was a weekend.

Slow check in and out with only one staff member available. However staff member was efficient. Nice room and surroundings but all needs a spruce up as looking tired. Pool was very good but busy at the time we visited. Breakfast was good. Good variety of food options with staff working hard in a hot environment. Great to be able to walk into town centre and RSC. Easy parking. This is a dream of a location with spacious grounds so near to town centre but needs money spending on it to keep it a top location.

The room was so hot, so we had the very noisy fan on all night that was extremely dusty. The bed was very uncomfortable and the window couldn't stay open much.

Having said that the hotel is in an excellent location within 5 minutes walk of the town centre, though traffic was very busy. We were there for a wedding and the young lady in charge of arrangements, and her staff, were quite brilliant. There was also a good choice for breakfast. All in all a good stay, rather than excellent.

AVOID this hotel. The check‐in guy could hardly speak English and was deeply weird. The lobby/lounge had broken furniture. The photos of the hotel are deceptive. The room is noisy and right next to a main road. There are conspicuously broken light fittings and chipped bedroom furniture in a room that over £300/night. There is no refrigerator in the room and no lock in the bathroom door ...and (at 6ft) I can't stand up in the shower without hitting my head on the ceiling. The view from the window is a bitumen flat roof and wiring. Awful. The breakfast food is utterly loveless and they dont even have whole milk for one's cereals. Our room was over £300 for a nights stay. It's not even worth £3. Avoid. (I should have read the Google reviews before I came here... they give it 3.9 / 5 which is generous)
