My room was spotless, bed very comfortable and whilst arrival seemed odd the member of staff who greeted me was polite and helpful. They do not provide catering, which is not an issue unless you want a cooked breakfast. There is a breakfast box in the room with fruit, danish pastries and instant porridge pot which not being a breakfast person was fine. Dinner can be obtained at a pub 1 minute walk from the hotel. As a business trip stopover a good place to saty

I was disappointed to find there wasn’t a bar as advertised, but that was just a minor disappointment. The room itself felt quite tired and tatty, the décor was very outdated, with worn furnishings and a general sense that it hasn’t been refreshed in a long time. There was also a fair amount of dust, and the sound insulation between rooms was almost non-existent. I don’t mind budget accommodation, but I expected something cleaner and more comfortable. A Travelodge would have been far better value for the same price.

Stayed for 1 night in August. Lack of receptionist on arrival let it down. People arrived an hour before us and were still waiting for someone to arrive and book them in.
Cleaning staff came down and got us sorted. They could not do enough for us and were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the local area. Comfortable en suite rooms and plenty of parking. The hotel is fairly basic and only offer a continental breakfast in a bag. It would probably benefit by at least offering a cooked breakfast. Overall enjoyed staying at the limes and would definitely use again if we revisit Stratford Upon Avon.

Shower was a bit tricky to figure out but once I cracked the code it was great. Very little support as far as a front desk. Never figured out the water taxi. A nice walk to and from town and always felt safe. You do have to rely on Uber if you need a ride to train station etc.

Food for thought

Arrival and check in was fine but there was noone available in the reception area when we checked out meaning that we were left waiting for a good 10 minutes for someone to answer the bell on reception. Had we been advised of the checkout process on arrival we would not have been delayed

A low cost stay in a great location.

I've read some very harsh things about Stratford Limes Hotel in other reviews, but whilst I'm not saying my stay was without issue, I do fear that those ‘concerns’ are rather unfair overall. For me the positives were its location in Tiddington, which was a village that all the amenities that the hotel didn’t, including a pub and a village shop (which I used) and a couple of sit-down/ take away restaurants (which I didn’t). Tiddington was a one-and-a-quarter mile walk to Stratford-upon-Avon, and so not beyond the range of able-bodied guests who did not want to take a car into town. Plus, my room was perfect for my needs, and the only downside of it was that it overlooked the smoker’s garden which had a sole occupant talking loudly into a mobile phone until about 11pm on the first night of my two night stay. All of the staff I interacted with did a good job, especially the first one who moved me after I discovered that the TV in my first room had been seemingly vandalised by a previous occupant. In terms of value for money I had no complaints, and if anything my stay actually exceeded my expectations.

Needs an uplift.

Our recent stay was disappointing, beginning with room 11 on the first floor, which lacked net curtains on the street-facing windows, leaving us exposed . It was one of the hottest days of the year; the fan was ineffective, prompting a replacement. Next, we encountered a leaky shower door that nearly flooded the bathroom. The shower door trim was hanging off. We were then moved to room 7 on the ground floor, facing the car park, where the sash window required a clothes hanger to remain open. Having visited this hotel 14 years ago, it was evident that the standards have significantly declined, and the entire establishment is in urgent need of an overhaul.

Worst Stay In A Long Time

Toilet hadn’t been cleaned properly. Outside seating areas had ashtrays that hadn’t been emptied.
Room was next to front door so really noisy. Hottest room I’ve ever stayed in as no air con, just a fan to move the air around. Window couldn’t be left open as the catch can be opened to allow it to open all the way on the ground floor.
Guest staying was noisy and behaving erratically and as there are no staff at night I had to phone someone to help her get back into her room by locating a key. She then continued to bang on my door into the early hours asking to use my phone and then to help her with something else. Managed to get about two hours sleep before she woke me again arguing with her companion and slamming the front door. She banged on my door at 5am. Before I just went for a walk at 6am then drove off before 7 to sit in a car park for 2 hours before the meeting I was due in. Even had to phone the police to do a welfare check on her because I was so worried about her. Awful night.
Mattress is so far beyond its best days it was uncomfortable.

The one night stay was fine, the person at reception coukd have been abit mire welcoming but he made a good gin n tonic so will let him off :). The room was spacious , bed was comfortable but needed air con as quite warm especially in an upstairs room. The shower also did not drain properly. Fine for 1 night, good pub close by for dinner.

Almost perfect! Only downsides were that the shower didn’t drain particularly well so leaked onto the bathroom floor if you were in it for more than 5 minutes and that the mattress needs replacing as it’s sunk and you can feel the springs. Other than that everything about the studio apartment was fantastic and incredible value for money!

NOT THE SAME HOTEL

Very disappointing. Having stayed here several times previously this was not the same experience.
Prior to arrival payment had been taken. This was a first having stay in many hotels UK wide.
On arrival on friday afternoon we were abruptly told no breakfast tomorrow due to a kitchen problem. We were subsequently advised no cook was available. We were offer a cooked breakfast on Sunday morning however we declined.
The general Cleanliness inside and out was very poor. Externally, dity patio and patio furniture.
Internally we requested the numerous cobwebs and spiders be removed from our room.
No house keeping was present which resulted in us requesting fresh towels and toilet rolls when we caught someone at reception.
All in all very disappointing.

We booked this late afternoon with an arrival time of 8pm. Got caught in traffic, phoned up and explained the situation. Michael couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. As it was we made up some time and he was there to greet us. Breakfast was a little disappointing but the room and facilities were comfortable enough. Good parking to rear.

Why did you change breakfast?

It’s my hotel of choice in Stratford. Covid kept me away for a bit but glad to be back. Breakfast, which used to be an attraction, while still good, is not what it was…A bit prepacked, which is against the ethos of the place.

We have stayed before, it's a great location with an easy 20 minute to half an hour walk from central Stratford . Lovely building , easy parking and lovely helpful staff. The full breakfast is particularly good too should you choose to have it.

Received a text on the morning of arrival- staff problems, no receptionist so hotel door will be open and key in room door. No breakfast being supplied so a small refund. Room not serviced on 2nd day, no teabags, milk not refreshed, bed unmade. No staff seen at anytime in our staff.

A mixed bag

This hotel provided a generally acceptable place to stay. However, there were certainly some problems.

The good:
The room was clean
The breakfast was very good, and good value for money
Plenty of parking
Easy location from which to get into Stratford

The bad:
The bed, being two single beds pushed together, could be more comfortable
The shower was awful - inconsistent temperatures, and very difficult to get to a point at which it was truly warm enough.
Also, the seal at the bottom of the shower leaked, leading to water flooding out.

The mildly inconvenient:
The bar closes very early indeed

Room was well equipped, bed very comfortable, the welcome was very good, easy parking and pleasing outdoor space although didn't make use of it because of time of year.Convenient for the town centre,bit disappointing cooked breakfast not available.

On arrival we were professionally greeted by Patricia who asked why we had booked so late ( booked via expedia the same morning) and then told us that cooked breakfast was unavailable at this time and a continental 'hamper ' was in our room; the room was advertised with English breakfast so that was a little disappointing.
The room itself was clean but starting to show signs of being tired, dirty grout around the bath, a ripped net curtain for example.
The king size bed was very comfortable and we both slept well.
Come the morning there was nobody around so we couldn't access any milk for our cereals or hot drinks, the 2 croissants weren't very fresh after being in a warm bedroom for at least 17hrs and the butter pats were melted so we checked ourselves out hungry and thirsty.

Lovely place. Quite clean. Bed very comfortable and nice room. Very accommodating with self catering requirements, great little bar.Was supposed to have full breakfast but only got basic “continental” breakfast. Very disappointed. Also, day of departure asked for breakfast 8.30 but no one appeared until after 8.30 even though door sign says reception manned from 6.30 a.m. overall I would stay again though

Not the best experience! On the surface this hotel appears nice but you soon find it has quite a few flaws. We had an executive room with a courtyard view. The room was very clean which was the only positive. The courtyard view is of the carpark and smoking area, you can hear people in your adjoining rooms very clearly in the night, the bed sheets were ripped (pillowcase and duvet cover), two plug sockets for the whole room with extension cables fixed to the dresser to power the kettle and fridge and then the pièce de rèsistance, breakfast! English breakfast is what we booked on Expedia, what we received the first morning was croissants, muesli and brown bread to toast with coffee and juice. The second morning they didn't open the dining room! The manager arrived and complained that we were early for our 8.30am breakfast at 8.40am after some rushing around we let ourselves into the dinning room and sat down for toast and muesli, not exactly the English breakfast we paid for! The manager explained that they don't have a chef (this is a hotel and RESTAURANT), but very little else and not even an attempt of an apology. This isn't a bad hotel but it certainly isn't a four star.

We had a very mixed stay at the Stratford Limes. We were warmly welcomed on our arrival, and offered complimentary drinks when our taxi ordered through the hotel did not arrive.
However, due to there being no chef, there were no hot breakfast options (despite having paid for breakfast). The overall breakfast experience was very disappointing due to lack of staff, not enough cold breakfast options for the amount of guests staying, and lack of cleanliness, e.g. tables were not promptly cleaned meaning that guests came down to find nowhere to sit/no clean crockery.
I hope they find a chef soon so that it doesn’t effect the quality of service for other guests. It really was unfortunate timing for us.

Disappointed couple

Arrived 30 min before check in and no staff available so we went for a walk and returned 1 hour later to be told staff were at lunch , we were shown room 16 and this was more like a storeroom with a very small window and very dark so we declined the room , we were shown room 12 and this seemed ok , the radiator in the bathroom was so hot you couldn't touch it and the thermostat would not work. So we had to leave the door open all the time and the bedroom window open to get some air into the room ,the fan in the bathroom didn't work so after using the toilet we had to leave the room for a while .we told staff at reception and they said there was nothing they could do about the radiator and ( ok ) to the fan problem . Nobody came to see the problems or try to resolve them and we was told there were no other rooms available and we couldn't afford to upgrade . We went out that evening and on returning found our room was extremely hot and even with the windows open found we could not sleep the small fan in the room was not acceptable and also made a noise so we did not sleep at all that night . In the morning I slept in my car for 2 hours before heading back home as we could not afford to stay anywhere else and we have not been contacted by the hotel regarding our 1 night stay out of 4 nights. There was never any staff around and left us very disappointed and ruined our stay in Stratford upon Avon .

Misleading promise of cooked breakfast?

Friendly check in. Very nicely presented room with lots of space. Alarm clock didn’t work though and neither did the wifi.
We returned at 23:05 that night and had been given a code to access the front door. Unfortunately, it took us around 10 mins to get in as one of the numbers written down appeared to be a 4 but was a 7! There was no answer from the door bell either as reception was only manned to 9pm.
Breakfast was another disappointment. The Hotels.com listing stated breakfast included, and unless it says otherwise, you would normally expect a full cooked breakfast. This was not the case and only a continental breakfast was provided. There was also nobody in active attendance to the breakfast room so no tables being cleared, no replenishment to the food, and no coffee! Another guest collared the receptionist who did eventually produce a jug of coffee (too late for us). Breakfast was the most disappointing and surprising aspect to the stay given the overall presentation of the hotel, and an area where they must improve.

Very disappointing

I was called prior to checking in to be told the back door was broken and there would be no reception staff to let me in. My key was in a key safe to which I was given the code.

The first three things my husband touched in the room fell off in his hands as were already broken.
Just a bit run down we thought and not much of a problem….

Around midnight someone was locked out and after banging on the door for five minutes they rang the reception desk over and over, which obviously went unanswered.

At 4am an assault took place in the room next door to us and there were no staff in the hotel to deal with the problem/ help/ call the police.

Where were the staff? Why weren’t there any?

Great 2 night stay

Nice hotel and staff all very pleasant too. Great location with only a flat 25 minute walk into centre of Stratford Upon Avon. Free on site parking is a great bonus. Continental style breakfast. We had an Executive Double room overlooking the gardens, and it was a large room with a sofa in too.
Local pub , Chinese and Indian restaurant all within a few minutes walking distance, and all very good.

Lovely Small Hotel in Great Location

Stayed for one night in this nice small hotel to break up a long journey. Good sized clean room with comfortable beds. No problem finding a parking space. It’s only a short car ride into the centre of Stratford, and even though our room was on the road side of the hotel we weren’t disturbed by traffic noise. Breakfast is extra but very reasonable with a really good selection. Staff were friendly and helpful
