We had a great room overlooking the promenade. Spacious, clean, comfortable with kettle and fridge. Location perfect, lots of restaurants, bakeries, gelaterias minutes away. Decent Spar supermarket round the corner. Bus (to airport) and ferries about 15 mins away and even a ok-ish swimming beach a bit further along. Hotel staff helpful and cleaning service excellent. Being on the promenade it was a little noisy at night, but not too bad. Would go back.

Perfect Split getaway hotel

Great 2 night stay. Not cool, ultra modern or flash but clean, comfortable and friendly. It is in a perfect location with amazing sea views and surrounded by everything Split old town has to offer and we heard no noise at night and slept peacefully. Would definitely use again.

Very basic accommodation and too expensive for such a basic quality
The extra charges for sea view is not worth it as it is only small window you can look at
The bed specially the mattress uncomfortable and you feel the coils in your back

A bit difficult to find the reception, but location was right in the middle of the Riva. Older building, but clean, quiet and had all the amenities for the stay including a small refrigerator & coffee bar in the room.

A beautiful old style hotel in the centre of the old city. I recommend you contact the hotel and use their taxi service from and to the airport as it’s cheaper than the local taxis and makes it easier to locate the hotel in the maze of streets in the old city grounds

Excellent stay. Highly recommended, location in old town was perfect. Host met us at the taxi stop and helped us into the hotel and upstairs. Stairs are not an issue AC worked fine in the middle of a high heat period. Recommend using the transfer from the airport to hotel.

We arrived earlier than expected and the staff was polite and efficient in preparing our room and providing a cool place for our elderly mother to wait with a cool glass of water. We felt secure (compared to our other check-in experience on Brac where a rude and intrusive clerk took photos of our passports with his personal mobile phone) and confident during the check-in process.

This was a great 1st night spot in Croatia. Right in the Diocletian palace-old-town. NO parking. Both 2nd-floor bedrooms have windows that open right onto beautiful (busy) square. VERY atmospheric. This was a Sunday night. I imagine this is NOT a quiet place on the weekends or in the middle of summer (busy time). We were there in mid- May.

Perfect experience!

This place was wonderful! The staff were delightfully friendly and helpful, and our room was clean and comfortable. The TV included an HDMI cord so we could watch a movie off my laptop on a bigger screen.
The only problem was when my friend used the shower for the first time, the water came out boiling hot and then stayed cold for over an hour, probably because it expended all its hot water in that burst of boiling water. But it was fine after that initial night.
Since checkout was at 11 but our bus didn't leave until 2, they let us store our luggage in the office, which was IMMENSELY helpful. If and when I return to Croatia, I intend to stay here again!

The location is fabulous. Right in the mix of the old town and a few steps to the promenade. The room is located in B&B Kastel, although compact it has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The air conditioning was much appreciated. Make sure you take the first open entrance from the promenade, not the indoor market.

The location was exceptional. You can walk to everything. The windows worked well to block outside noise and the room was overall clean. The staff was polite and helpful. Our travel mates rented the apartment and had a sit down shower that resembled a large sink. Beware the unusual shower if you book the apartment. Also we had some tiny ants near our sink in the kitchen. Even with the ants I would rent this place again without hesitation.

Great location and view!

This was a fantastic little room (2A) overlooking the Riva promenade. Clean, good air-conditioning. Fantastic location just tucked away behind one of the busiest squares, and around the corner from a happening bar. But the room was very quiet. Have to climb some stairs though! WIFI good.

Great view

The hotel was very hard to find and I didn't have roaming so calling was not an option for me. If you took longer than 15 min in the shower, you would run out of hot water. The view was spectacular. A lot of steps, no elevator. Helps to get luggage at check in but no help at check out.

Could have been better for the price

The hotel emailed me and asked me if I wanted a car sent to the airport for 40€. We took them up on it, not knowing prices of Taxis. I think it would have been cheaper to take a regular taxi but it was sure convenient to have them there waiting. Also, the hotel can not be accessed door to door by the taxi so a staff member met us up the road so we wouldn't get lost. This is a kind service, for sure!
The room we had was sea view but it was wayyyy at the top, up 3 flights of stairs. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the room but it was smaller than anticipated. The beds weren't overly comfortable but we got two pillows each, which is rare in Europe, or so we have found. we enjoyed our stay here and found everyone to be helpful and kind. Also, we had to pay cash for the room and the taxi upon checkout. They don't take credit cards, which was explained before arrival.

We booked Central Palace Rooms for 2 nights. Emailed to tell us we needed to check in at B+B Kastell. I put in that i needed easily accessible as i have dificulty with stairs. Told that this was ut. Palace rooms were full. 3 flights of stairs. Tv that didnt have channels..tea and coffe making facilities but we had to pay for sachets. No milk. Beds were uncomfortable and noisy. Breakfast was not included although we couldve sworn it was included.
Same issues on Hvar. The room.we booked for 2 nights was double booked. Booking agency took 50% of the total cost =95eu and we could not get a refund although it was hotel that double booked..
Moral of story is you book with Free cancellation as most places in Croatia want you to pay in CASH.

it was the perfect location

not the easiest to find as it has a back street entrance but the room was very pleasing and very clean. we had a window view on to the square which we enjoyed but if you prefer it quieter instead of the street buzz just close the windows. the sound proofing is very good. the staff are very pleasant and efficient. it is the perfect location for everything including the harbour which is only a few minutes away and you are surrounded by fantastic bars, restaurants and shops.

Good: convenient location, friendly & helpful staff, large room with tiny kitchen (microwave & electric kettle & fridge), clean. Bad: outside noise is very loud and the mattresses were hard. But that wouldn't stop me from staying there again.

Nice inexpensive room with kitchen. Neighborhood is very noisy at night but soundproofing is very good. Excellent location for seeing Diocletian's palace. Hotel is difficult to find.

The central palace rooms are tucked away and initially hard to find if you come into the palace from the taxi and bus stand. Much easier to find from the promenade which a few seconds walk away. The staff are friendly and helpful and arranged to have us met and taken to the hotel.

The room was clean and tidy and spacious. The shower was powerful with constant hot water. Some rooms face onto the square which can get quite noisy, however the double glazing shut out all noise.

Cannot fault the place and am planning to go back.

I stayed here two nights. I have also stayed in the Old Town in Dubrovnik and Kotor, and in both places it was very noisy at night and the view non-existent! In this place, however, it was so quiet and the view was perfect!!
In the description of the room said \"coffee maker\" but there was a teapot, which was better than a coffee maker.

Top notch location, yet very quiet at night

Stayed here twice, same price both times but very different rooms. Both clean and functional though. Second had broken shower head (had to hold the head while showering) but it was much bigger, with a TV and kitchenette. Both had fun views of the main square, yet were totally silent when the windows were shut, even though Split stays up all night. Hosts were helpful and kind. Easy airport taxi service.

Fair value and just what we needed

This hotel is located in B&B Kastel and as others have commented is cash only. It might be easier to just book through B&B Kastel if you want the breakfast. Central Palace Rooms was incredibly accommodating and they gave us a third single bed in our double room because traveling with 3 in Europe is always tough. Everything was clean and there was a fridge in our sea view room with a mini bar but more importantly a place for us to keep some of our own snacks and water. The staff was great and managed to get us each taxis for our early morning and late night flights which was much cheaper than the metered taxi rate. I'd stay here again.

Amazing Hotel in Amazing Location

We got in late at night (11pm) and the women working that evening met us here the cab they had arranged to pick us up dropped us off. she helped us through the beautiful narrow streets of Split to the hotel and helped carry our bags up to our room. The Room was amazing! we asked for a sea view and a baby cot, and we got exactly that. The view was on real, and the location and friendly staff made this a spot I will return back to again.

The place is a bit difficult to locate in a small corner. and it is not named as Central Palace Rooms but another name.We can't find without the full address.However once you know where it is, it is well located in the city with a nice view, though the small window is exactly stick to the given pictures.

Central hotel

The hotel is located right in the middle of the old town which I guess is why the price tag is so high. The hotel itself is located down a back ally and is part of B&B Kastel which is where you enter. There are no lifts but many flights of stairs to carry luggage up and no staff assistance. The room we had faced onto the Main Street which provided lovely views of the ocean but the noise from outside could be heard until about 2am in the morning. The bed was inky made with a flat sheet and when I went to get a duvets on the cupboard it did not have a cover on it which is not acceptable in my opinion. The only toiletries provided were 2 sachets of body wash and shampoo and the hair dryer did not really dry hair at all. It is also worth noting that you halve to pay for this hotel in cash only - card is not accepted. Overall it was fine for one night but if I had to stay for a longer period of time I would look elsewhere.

Can't get more central than this. Great location within the palace walls and only a stones throw from the Riva. The juice bar in the square below was fab for breakfast.
Only downside was a slightly dodgy shower in our room.

Everything about this hotel was wonderful, except for the very soft mattresses that gave no back support. Location is terrific -- right in the old part of town near Diocletians' palace, and a 10-minute walk from either the ship landing or the bus station. The room was very large, very light and airy, and the double-glazed windows really kept the street noise out. There are about 10 steps to get to the front door of the apartment building (so not possible for those with mobility problems), but then our room (number 1) was on that same floor. Lovely view of the harbor from one window, then of a side street from the other window. Reception staff was very helpful and brought the luggage up from the street level to the room. You do not need a car to get around the old town, everything is very accessible.

Caution: there are small steps between the hallway and the room, and between the bathroom and the room. Not very visible, so watch your step.

Breakfast was not included in the room price.

Looking out over the square.

A great location looking out over the square. Walk out side music was playing ,plenty of restaurants. We chose to take our breakfast out on the plaza, great people watching. Even though World Cup match was on and very exciting once you closed the window the room was very quite. Walking distance to ferry and taxis.

Small Room - Great Location

there was a problem with our room when we first checked in, but they quickly moved us to another one - staff was very friendly and apologetic. The rooms are quite small, but that's to be expected to be right in the heart of Diocletian's Palace. For the money, this hotel is worth it if you just need a place to sleep and prefer being close to the action!

We had room 4 which looked out into the main promenade, the port and the adriatic sea. Rooms were small but clean. Front staff was friendly and helpful, but unable or unwilling to accept credit cards for our lodging. Had to go to an ATM to pay front desk to leave Hotel. Location is fabulous if you want to be in the central part of Split. Noise can be a little tougher late at night due to the proximity of the numerous cafe's below the room.

Clean but very basic

The room was clean but very dated and basic. So if you are expecting a romantic room in a wonderful town be somewhat wary. Also note that this is a cash only establishment. My smartphone map was VERY helpful in finding the location and you do have to park a bout 200m away since it is located in the pedestrian area of the old town. (not a negative, just be aware)

Very clean room in a convenient location. The only two downsides to the room is (1) the shower is very small with a very small water heater for 4 people. The shower curtain did not fit well and allowed water all over the bathroom. (2) parking is in the neighborhood streets, which isn't too bad. We parked the car and did not use it during our 3 day stay since everything was so convenient to this location.

Great reasonably priced hotel room

The hotel staff were very helpful both on the phone and when we arrive to check in, they explained all and mentioned we could leave our bags on checkout day for a long as we wished at no charge. This saved us lots of time and basically gave us a full day to tour the city till our ferry to Ancona left.

The room was very neat and clean and even though we booked a room without a view when we arrived we actually had a reasonable views from our window of the palace courtyard below and glimpses of Split harbour!

One point to note is Central Place Rooms are actually just a couple of rooms inside the B&B Kastel 1700 hotel and the hotel manages them for the owner as they do all their other rooms. So no problems in that regard.

Central hotel with good service

Nice little hotel in the very centre of Split old town, entrance from a little alley, windows (from our rooms) with a great harbour view. Adequate beautiful smallish rooms with everything you need for a short stay. A few stairs to climb for the better view. Good breakfast for extra 75kn/person. Above all, very friendly and competent service. Thank you very much, we'll be back soon!

Veldig sentral beliggenhet i gamlebyen i Split - perfekt beliggenhet. Litt støy fra nærliggende barer på kvelden, men det plaget ikke oss - kanskje annerledes om man reiser med små barn.
Ett lite problem var å finne frem - siden vi ikke hadde fått med oss at vi skulle sjekke inn på Kastellet.
Strålende transferservice, veldig hyggelig personale. Vi bor gjerne her igjen!
