I stayed 2 separate nights. The first was in a building across the street. Unfortunately, the sheets & bedding were very dirty and had at least 6 hairs. Even after the linen was changed, I didn’t sleep due to constant itching.
My second night was in a cleaner room and I slept fine. The employees were very kind and helpful.

Lovely pools but the main pool totally surrounded by rooms. Bungalow rooms are tired. No coffee making goodies but they did bring me the bare minimum when I asked. Towels and sheets threadbare. Cheap plastic bottles of water supplied. Restaurant hit or miss. Good location I guess. Within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants and the market The staff were very helpful when asked. Would I stay here again? Probably not. The whole area is overrun with package deal families from Europe and very very overpriced

My family and I was at this property 5 years ago and we love it so much so we decided to comeback. However, this property was in such poor conditions, so much that we decided to move to the new resort. Very dirty, stain on the sheet, AC was not cold, no food on the property. On Expedia website about this property was listed that they have all the amenities but for surcharges which we Plato use. They don’t have food, transportation, spa or anything that is listed. The person that chua in said “we have nothing but the room for you. This is LOW SEASON” We have reservation from July 8th to July 14th. We left this property on July 10th due to all of the above listed. They used to viewing spot that you can see the water. Not any more. They closed up that part and you will have to walk about 10-15 minute the near by beach with is next to Ramada resort. I contacted Expedia customer service chat line and told them about all of this but they said no refund. This will be the last time I will use this site due to lack of transparency. They allow this hotel to give faults information and would not take any responsibility. I wish Fanari resort the best of luck and hope they make it in this industry.

Wondeful quiet place, a little aways from khao lak, like 20km so be prepared for an 700baht taxi ride. Staff was fantastic and restaurant was great. Beautiful rooms and environment.

The property is located next to a beautiful beach and is in a quiet area. The breakfast was excellent and the staff all very helpful. The downside is that the rooms (we had one of the bungalows) were in need of renovation as everything was a bit old and several items not functioning too well. The gardens were poorly maintained. The hotel is just OK.

Lovely vacation spot

We stayed in a bungalow, our deck overlooking the courtyard pool. It was spacious and the bathroom had lots of room for us. It was just a short walk to the restaurant and the breakfasts were great. We could access the beach from the beachside complex which was just down and across the road. Lots of restaurants in the area and we especially took advantage of the beachfront ones. It is an easy walk to downtown and the market. Staff were terrific. A great place to stay.

Hotel grounds were nice - garden like. Rooms are a bit tired. Neat and tidy, friendly, accommodating, staff, easy check in, but nothing really to write home about. No complaints. Solid 3 star hotel. I'd recommend to friends depending on their travel style. Good room for the price.

Large room king sized bed with large balcony. Located away from dining hall and opposite smaller pool.

Beautiful tropical plants and pool large enough to swim lengths.

Bad points not really any hot water to speak of. Toilet system very basic indeed. Humidity suana like. But the thing that was the worst by far mossies and other bugs. With bug spray made no odds.

Food choice in hotel limited and breakfast very basic. Hotel had no other entertainment so if you want a pool and book in beautiful setting go for it.

Fanari courtyard hotel room

Unknowingly booked for courtyard bungalow across from main hotel. On arrival the room stank of damp so much so we only spent 10minutes in the room before I had to get outside for fresh air. We asked at reception to be moved and they showed us another bungalow that smelt just as bad. We ended up paying 400thb extra per night to stay in a poolside room which still smelt like damp but was much, much better and cleaner. The beach is lovely and the surrounding area really is friendly with lots of good restaurants. We had a couple of meals at Thai Life down the road which was really great, try out their schnitzel. We can recommend Pinocchio's which is an Italian, slightly more expensive but worth the money and they did a great job catering to our requirements. There is a great bar run by an English hippie on the main road called Mars Bar (onto main Street and turn right, look for the yellow smiley face sign) he is a super nice guy and does proper English grub and PG tips tea if you're missing a good cuppa! All in all, really enjoyed our stay and the room was good but ended up expensive.

The main photo of the pool area used on the Expedia website is quite flattering. Also, if you're looking to laze by the pool in the sun all day be mindful that it's quite well-shaded and only captures a few hours of direct sunlight.
The rooms are spacious and clean with firm mattresses. No signs of insect infestation. Decent shower pressure. The location is ok, just a couple of minutes from the beach. All-in-all, it's a clean, safe mid-range hotel.

Hotel needs maintenance.

Our room had a bad odour when we arrived so we changed room. The roof in the new room leaked one night during some heavy rain. We could hear big drops of water hitting the ceiling. I wondered how long it would be before the ceiling collapsed. There weren't enough sun beds around the pools and other guests would place towels on them really early. Breakfast was great.

Stayed for a short getaway to the beach. The hotel is not directly on the beach which was disappointing. There is beach access via the other part of the hotel but it is a good walk down the road not just across the street. However the hotel is close to restaurants and shops. There are 2 nice swimming pools and lots of sun beds. Breakfast buffet was very good. Beds in room were a strange setup. A king size and a single all setup on one large platform frame with just a space on the platform between the mattresses. So I had to step onto the platform to get into my side of the bed. Maybe it's a Scandinavia thing.

We stayed in a bungalow which is attractive. Breakfast was good. There are numerous small problems with this hotel, i.e. hotel would not provide hand soap even when asked. Pool was dirty and could not be used. We had to asked for towels each day. Lights are inadequate and could not see in the mirrors to shave or put on make up or find the door lock at night. Sliding door lock very difficult to work. NO INTERNET ACCESS in the room (This is 2014?) No parking near hotel, difficult to find and reception could not give accurate directions. Even with those negatives we had a nice 3 day stay and would consider returning if the price is not too high which may be the case during high season.

Perfect place if you plan to hang at the hotel or beach all the time. The price at the bar and the restaurant is about the double compared to hotels 5 min away by taxi. Also, the service is slow (but the staff is very nice and proffesional). The food and the drinks are just OK, but you get a lot better food for half the price \"in town\". Unfortanly \"town\" is about 200 baht away. If you are a family with small children i recomend this resort. If you like to try a new restaurant every luch and dinner i do not recomend this place.

Fantastic hotel near to beach and restaurants

We stayed for 8 nights in total and were very sad to leave. The staff and location was everything we wanted and it didn't dissapoint. On our first day the shower did not have hot water and within 5 minutes of telling them they were in and gave us a new shower. Pool is small but not busy so really enjoyed that and the staff were all so friendly with us. Would definitely go back.

Cosy hotel near the beach

Fanari was relatively easy to locate. It is a 3-5 minutes walk to the beach and 10 minutes walk to Bang Niang market. The facilities and rooms in Fanari are relatively basic. The staff were very friendly and helpful and were very meticulous with details. They took note of all the special requests that I made for the booking. Overall Fanari is a good place to relax and chill.

Fanari Courtyard Hotel

Had a very nice stay at the Fanari Courtyard. The most pleasing aspect was the friendliness & politeness of the staff but that is typical of Thailand.
It is an attractive hotel set in very pretty gardens & conveniently positioned across the road from a beautiful beach.
Although the hotel does not have banking facilities, there are plenty of A.T.Ms in the local area.
The local restaurants are very good & the facilities of Khao Lak town, including shops, banks & bars are only a ten minute taxi ride away. There are many very interesting excursions available such as elephant trekking,sea canoeing & visits to Khao Sok nature reserve.
All in all, I am happy to recommend this hotel & this particular area of Thailand.

clean, convenient hotel

Visited in March 2013. Great hotel for relaxing stay near beach and close to shops. We booked for just under AUD$200 for three nights in a pool side room (you literally walked out your back door and into the pool).
All the staff were helpful and spoke decent English. The transfer from airport was thb1600 for two people and took just over an hour from phuket. The way back we hired a driver from a tour desk on the street which was $1200.
The tour/bike shop attached to the hotel is run by a really nice and helpful guy called olah/p? He recommended hiring a bike to explore which was perfect for riding to and from the markets (3min ride, 10 min walk) and riding to our fav local restaurant on the main road at the end of the strip of shops with yellow sign. We also rode to the beach at jw Marriott and the waterfall (7km) which were both easy rides. The waterfall is not much of a water fall though.
Highly recommend staying at Fanfari. Clean, good location 2 min walk from bang Niang beach. Decent price, helpful staff. Tasty breakfast included and good selection.

Nice hotel, good size rooms. We stayed in one of the rooms which had direct pool acces, this was very nice! Good breakfast buffet with a little of everything. Friendly and helpfull staff. Mini mart next door, with basic supply. To few sunbeds at the pool, but beach close by with free or cheap sunbeds.

Khao Lak - a Ghost town in September

The hotel was lovely but we were the only guests! It was slightly off putting to have 6 staff waiting to serve us at breakfast and the same number to clean our 2 rooms.
Unfortunately we really went at the wrong time of the year as the whole area was empty and we were unlucky to have torrential downpours for 2 of the 3 days we were there which caused considerable flooding around the streets. No swimming, snorkelling, diving or even wandering along the beach at this time of year. I was under the impression from the website that the hotel was on the beach but this wasn't the case as it is a street back so no views.
We booked online and requested 2 pool villas but when we arrived, they were not really near the pool. We were able to pay extra to upgrade to be around the 2nd much nicer pool, in the main complex but considering we were the only guests, I was surprized to be asked to pay extra for this.
Friendly staff with an A La Carte breakfast provided. A short stroll down the road with a variety of restaurants and market type shops-all mostly empty but very keen to tempt us in. Probably a nice place when it is busy and has a buzz to it but a ghost-town for us.
We took the bus from Phuket which took about 2 hours but was a great way to travel as very modern and comfortable costing only 90 baht each with a short tuk tuk ride at the other end.

the hotel was set way back and the taxi driver got lost. they have no tea or coffee or kettle in the rooms which was a let down after travelling so far and i was ready for a nice hot drink. i was going to be charged 300 baht for the privalige but got one the next morning. i went out of season so expect lotsof rain. the markets were about 20 minutes walk which was ok . lots of shops closed down for the season too. they have a tv and you get 68 channels but 3 were sports, and only 1 had movies in my language. the rest i could not understand. would recommend if dont mind been bored and you dont like a night cuppa. i wold not go back but you decide.

Wir waren schon 7 Jahre davor hier. Seitdem hat sich doch einiges geändert. Das Hotel ist grundsätzlich ruhig. Diesmal jedoch waren Gäste da, die keine Rücksicht auf andere nahmen. Wir mussten leider das Personal einschalten und um Rücksicht bitten. Einige Tage waren Personen im Pool die nicht zum Hotel gehörten. Das ist nicht in Ordnung. Warum dürfen fremde Personen (vermutlich Freunde oder Familie von einem Gast) ins Hotel??
Frühstück haben wir nicht gebucht, da es vor 7 Jahren schon sehr karg war. Kaffee (im Sackerl) haben wir erst nach Rückfrage bekommen. Dann auch nur mehr 2stk am Tag. Früher konnten wir uns mehr Kaffee am Tag machen.
Die Zimmer sind eher abgenutzt. Preisleistung ist hier nicht mehr gerechtfertigt. Da bekommt man was schöneres für das Geld. Die Dusche ist sehr sehr abgenutzt. Kein Platz für Utensilien wenn man zu dritt oder sogar zu viert dort ist.
Das Bett wird zwar jeden Tag gemacht , aber nach einer Woche wäre ein Tausch der Wäsche angebracht. (Wir waren 17 Tage dort...)
Die Terrassentür lässt sich sehr schwer schließen. Das Pool hatte ihre gute Zeit auch schon lange hinter sich.
Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und bemüht sich. Achtet jedoch nicht wirklich auf fremde Personen. Unser Zimmernachbar aus Deutschland hat ein lautes Organ und hat seine neue thailändische Familie im Hotel zu Besuch(keine zahlende Gäste!!). Nicht in Ordnung.
Für ein oder zwei Tage für durchreisende ist das Hotel nutzbar. Für einen längeren Aufenthalt eher woanders buchen

Slidt hotel. Lugtede forfærdeligt på badeværelset af kloak under hele opholdet. Meget skimmelsvamp i brusekabinen.
Forfærdelig hård seng og puder. Aircon virker delvist. Pool stor og ren. Billig minibar og normal rengøring ok. Dog var der gamle møl pubber hængende i loftet, som rengøring åbenbart aldrig gad fjerne. Mange myg på hele området.

In a very short distance to the bungalows at pool side was a trainings center for Thai boxing which created an unimaginable noise which needs to wear ear protection headphones. This undisputable for a hotel which such high claim to quality and holiday resort and there is no single notice in the hotel description in internet. This are important circumstances for selection of a hotel resort to make relaxing holidays. This is a point for disqualification!!!

Hotel sympa, belle piscine mais un peu profonde pour les moins de 1,60. Toutes les chambres ont vu sur la piscine. Les plages à proximité peu praticables car plus de sable mais des rochers. Les chambres sont grandes. Il y a de temps en temps des petits lézards. Le petit dej est complet. On peux commander à manger de 11h30 jusqu’à 16h30 au bord de la piscine, c’est top. Bon rapport qualité prix.

Har boet her X flere altid følt mig velkommen og ja stedet trænger til en lille kær hånd men atmosfære gør man kan overse det, ville gerne have fået besked før om at restaurant ikke var åben, personalet hjælper gerne med take-away hvis behov for men savnede den dejlige morgenmad. Nem a legjobb választás...

Nem szóltak a renitens (iszákos, éjfélkor ordítozó, ajtókat csapkodó, vagy éppen éjjel 10-kor medencébe ugráló gyerekek) vendégeknek semmiért. Ráadásul a hotel úgy volt meghirdetve, hogy gyerekvendéget nem fogad, ehhez képest sok volt a gyerek, akikre viszont a szüleik sem szóltak rá. Csak kerülővel lehet lejutni a tengerpartra, ami viszont időnként igencsak hagy kívánnivalót maga után... A reggeli választék szegényes, piperecikkekből csak egy elég fura szagú sampon és tusfürdő van (elhiszem, hogy fontos a mindkét nemnek való megfelelőség, de inkább rossz szagú volt, mint semleges), valamint zuhanysapka és fülpiszka. Kézmosó szappan nincs, azt venni kellett. A meghirdetett papucs gumipapucs, ami hiába is fertőtlenítik, nem higiénikus. A takarítás csak amolyan \"ahol a papok is táncolnak\" módszerrel történt, sok helyen ott voltak a bakatollak (pl.szék lábára ragadva). A hotelhez tartozó étterem nagyon drága, ellenben minőségen aluli.

Ok hotel I Khaolak

Vi boede i en bungalow her var et mindre pool område, som vi foretrak, frem for poolen ved hovedbygningen. Der er masser af restauranter og butikker i området. Alt i alt et Ok hotel til prisen.

Det eneste der er at sige dårligt om dette sted er at man absolut ikke kan bruge håndklæderne til noget som helst...de er lavet af noget så man ikke kan tørre sig. Ellers kan vi sagtens anbefale dette sted.

Trevlig miljö, helt okej pool. Bara 2 min promenad ner till den fina stranden. Sängarna var hemska, hårda där fjädrarna kändes ! Bra frukost ska tilläggas.

Die Handtücher waren der Hammer die haben kein Wasser aufgenommen -also nach dem duschen immer noch nass voll krass -soweit sonst ok alle super nett aber 11 Tage in dem Hotel ist zu lange 2-3 Tage ist ok

Alle freundlich und nett waren immer bemüht, ob beim Frühstück... Hatten ein Baby dabei, haben ihn uns abgenommen so dass man Frühstück holen konnte. Waren Anfang Mai Ende der Saison Frühstück dann etwas reduziert , waren auch nicht viel Gäste dort hat Vor - und Nachteile....Also 11 Tage waren definitiv zu lange.

Leider sehr runtergewohnt. Starker modriger Geruch bei uns im Bubgalow. Bad viel zu dunkel.
Kleiner strand fussläufig erreichbar. Großer, schöner strand eher mit roller zu erreichen.
Frühstück okay.

Prisvärt med vackra bungalows

Bra frukost, trevlig och vänlig personal. Väldigt fint område kring Bungalows. Det dåliga var att det ligger massa hotel närmare stranden som har reserverade områden där man inte får vara. Det gjorde att man behöver gå en bra bit för att antingen komma till deras område eller till den stora stranden(ca800m). Men med tanke på priset så var det helt klart värt det.

Stedet var rigtig fint, og lå rimelig godt i forhold til lokalområdet. Møblerne på hotellet var dog ret ukomfortable; sengen var hård og stolene på terrassen var direkte ubehagelige at sidde i.

Laatupaikka lähellä rantaa ja palveluja

Mukava palvelu, lähellä rantoja ja ravintoloita. Huoneet uusia ja siistejä. Rauhallinen paikka. Olimme neljässä eri huoneessa. Yksi bungalovi haisi homeelle, siinä ei voinut nukkua, joten kannattaa tsekata huone ennen sinne menemistä.

Sehr schönes Hotel, gemütlich und nicht zu groß. Toller Pool, ist nicht nur großzügig fotografiert, sondern wirklich groß!
Personal ist sehr nett und zuvorkommend, großes Frühstücksbüffet und prima Lage zu Strand und Ort.
Wir würden jederzeit gern wiederkommen!
