We had a sea facing room. Lovely and spacious. Bath on the balcony. Clean room. Staff were very attentive and helpful. Pools were good and catered for families and there was an adults only pool and bar. Beach was clean. Plenty of activities. Food and drink were great quality. Breakfast was amazing. This was our second stay at La Vella Khao Lak, and we were once again impressed by the friendly and professional staff who go above and beyond. However, some guests reserve pool and beach chairs for hours without using them, which is unfair to others. We recommend management put up signs in multiple languages and enforce a policy to remove unattended towels after 30 minutes.

The hotel is on a lovely, relatively quiet beach on the outskirts of the local town. A quick 5 mins walk or 2 mins in the hotel buggy.
We had a sea view deluxe room which was great. Beautiful views, quiet, large, practical space and well serviced throughout the week.
As mentioned by others the breakfast is excellent, especially loved the coffee which is freshly made on request.
Not keen on the loud dance music played often over lunch or in the evening as takes away from the relaxing beach vibe.
Liked happy hour on the beach.

This resort was wonderful. The rooms were very new and nicely appointed. Food was wonderful and the staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. There were cheaper dining options a short walk away… all the food both at the resort and nearby restaurants was amazing. There are pools everywhere and lots of options… The beach had red flags every day so no swimming where the resort is. But there our sun and shade options for sitting in beach chairs and enjoying the surf.

Everything was just perfect: convenient location close to town, great amenities and direct access to the beach.

No Gold VIP recognition or benefits upon checkin. Staff has no idea what it is.
Poor parking. Hard to navigate hotel from lobby to beach. Had top floor ocean front room with good view. Bathtub on balcony wouldn’t drain. Pillows and mattress are dated and not 5 star. Breakfast was fine. There are better properties to stay at. Disappointed in this ‘5 star’ hotel.

Amazing hotel!

La Vela is a beautiful hotel, right on the beach with the most amazing swimming pools and friendly service. We stayed in a family room which was spacious and comfortable and had a room divider screen to allow children and parents to have their own space. Our children (ages 9 and 6) enjoyed the kids club and thought the floating obstacle course was the best thing ever! They also made a great friend in one of the lovely La Vela staff members, Fang, who was wonderful with them.
The breakfast buffet was varied and extensive and the other restaurants on site were also excellent. La Vela is also really close to Bang Niang with its restaurants, shops and fab night market. It was great to be able to walk out of the hotel and find lots of local food and drink options just around the corner. Taxis and songtheaws are also easy to come by to visit other parts of Khao Lak. Coconut beach and White Sand Beach are gorgeous!
The beach bar, sunsets and amazing fire show also helped to make our stay undoubtedly 5*. Thanks La Vela! In the kids’ words…“best hotel ever!”

Check in was very slow considering the hotel had just re-opened and was empty. However we were upgraded to an oceanside deluxe room which was beautifully designed and fitted out. The batheoom was huge with a walk in rain shower. The balcony had an outdoor sofa and a bath. The pool was stunning and we enjoyed sunset cocktails on the beach.

We had a fabulous swim up room excellent.
The stay was very relaxing and enjoyable under very stressful times but the staff were always smiling and had Gel in all public areas .
We found the staff to be very helpful from our maid to the reception and breakfast staff and also everyone we came into contact with .

I spent 11 nights in July 2019. I did not like the design or style. It was cold and uninviting. It lacked colour and warmth. The colour scheme is metal gray for the most part. The entry is very unimpressive. A walkway over a shallow water feature. I felt I was entering a funeral parlour. The pools were smaller than expected. The breakfast items were cold. The eggs benedict was disappointing served on untoasted muffin with a white sauce and parmesan cheese. Every time I went to have dinner in Spice restaurant it was always Japanese ala carte or Japanese buffet. I had a Pool Access Grand room which was spacious but also lacked colour and an umbrella. I had some nice meals in the Kokulo Beach Club restaurant. I would not return to this resort.

grounds well kept staff always helpful and respectful, front area \"Kokula\" cafe pool dangerous as pool is quite narrow area taken up by sun lounges over water and areas where tiling is only 6 inches or so under water there is not enough space for actual areas to swim, we noticed children jumping and diving over these areas also people drinking in pool with glass wine glasses, large pool area excellent, it is a shame that sun lounges cannot be placed under trees in beach area as more shaded areas are necessary

A great place to stay for anyone. This hotel has it all 3 different pools to choose from. A large pool with children’s area, a relaxing pool by the bar, or a pool right on the beach. The beach is there if you want an ocean swim. Ok for a dip a bit rough, but we were there in wet season so would be better and calm in the high season I imagine. Spoilt for choice. At the pool all the loungers are sitting in ankle deep water so you just need to be careful with your belongings. Rooms are spacious and plenty of space for luggage. We have 2 teenagers that had their own room with 2 double beds. All the staff are friendly and very helpful. The food at the hotel is great but it is definitely cheaper to eat at the local restaurants if you are on a budget. All of these are no more than a 10 min walk from the hotel. Shops and the local markets are great for cheap shopping at night. The local night market is best for shopping, the hotel has a little open air taxi and will drop you there. We found a great tour place Go On Tour. Gabby & Odty are super friendly and fun. Be aware if you go in the low season as we did some tours will not be available as the tour guides are not allowed to visit the islands in the low season around this time with seas not so calm.. The advantage of going in the low season is it is very quiet.

We are a family of 4, unfortunately despite booking two rooms in one booking we were given rooms on different floors of the building. After complaining, the next day we were offered two rooms on the same floor but not together. The resort itself is stunning and the location perfect. It is a short 5 minute stroll into town with many restaurants, bars and shopping. We were advised the resort was at near capacity but it never felt crowded. Pools are huge and you can always secure a sun lounge. It is situated on the beach and there are sun lounges available here also. Our room was larger than average with a balcony overlooking the pool. The bathroom was large with a separate toilet and large free standing bath. Breakfast was plentiful and catered for all tastes. Staff at bars, restaurants and in room were lovely and helpful. Reception staff were polite but at times dismissive. Late checkout was not provided.

Quite a lot of steps so may be a problem with older clients with mobility problems.

I would definitely recommend staying at La Vela Khao Lak. The staff are very friendly and are able to communicate in English. The rooms are spacious and clean (we were in the E building). The beach is breathtaking and was perfect for relaxing. I would highly recommend going off the resort for food (lunch/dinner), the food on the resort is quite pricey and the portions are small.

Clearly a 5 star resort but has the feel of becoming complacent for a resort of his price. Service was avg and cancelling all normal services for a NY party for nearly 24hrs was unacceptable at the rates you pay here. Food was very good, room was amazing and its an awesome location on the beach (though it doesn't take much advantage of beach views in its design). Definitely a high end resort but I queestion the value for money, will likely look for more boutique options in future where there is a clear focus on customer experience.

And if you have stroller you can forget about this place. Because stairs everywhere!!
Also, we arrived around 1pm and they only can checkin us after 2pm which we have to find place to wait for an hour.

the room you can hear all the noises, people walk pass your room you can hear that very hard to sleep at night.

Possibly the best modern resort on Khao Lak. Staff try their best and are eager to help although some may need to brush up on their english skills. Do note all the hot tubs on the balcony offer zero to no privacy. They are either facing the main street, pool, or walkways. Besides that breakfast is great with a small but exceptional variety, beach bar is great too!

Just had 10 amazing nights at La Vela. The staff couldn’t do enough for us. The whole resort is spotless. Rooms cleaned and bedding changed everyday. Complimentary water provided twice a day. Great choice of bars and pools including an adults only pool. Excellent Mojitos at the Beach Club especially during happy hour! Prices are as you’d expect in a hotel but we walked 5 minutes outside the hotel to the local restaurants which were great value. The night markets are a gentle 15 minutes stroll away. I can highly recommend this hotel.

Architecturally great looking hotel, everywhere is clean, rooms are great with everything you need and cleaned regularly, facilities are great and state of the art. Buffet was also great!

Price to use the phone was very expensive (about 5 dollars a minute) and many drinks were too pricey compared to the mini bar or outside the hotel.

Overall the best place to stay in khao lak i would say!

Needs better management! The hotel is beautiful, rooms are spacious, but cleanliness is below any standards! Our room wasn't cleaned once properly during our 2 weeks stay, bedsheets changed only twice, the balcony and outside bath tube not cleaned even once! The swimming pools look lovely but there are lots of dead caterpillars and other bugs in them. Didn't see anyone cleaning them even once. Breakfast buffet was very nice, food was delicious. Need more staff there as you don't get served coffee or tea until you ask someone for a drink. We found it was easier to go and get the jar and help ourselves to a cup of coffee. Most of the cups were cracked, it was a miracle that they were holding the drinks in and not leaked!
I've been to Thailand many of times before and not once had such a bad experience. Definitely would not go back to this hotel and would not recommend it

Where elegant design meets nature

Firstly, the hotel is in the best location in Khao Lak, on a great part of the beach for swimming, with all the benefits of the shops and bars within easy walking distance. The rooms are spacious and very well designed. We loved the 'one button push' shower, and the fact we had 5 bottle of water per day. The large Samsung Smart TV is great, but would be better if it had VOD movies for the times when the heavens open and it rains for 2-3 hours.
The beach / pool bar is excellent and we enjoyed happy hour cocktails every day 5-7.
The staff here seems really happy, which is always a good sign.
We have stayed at other hotels in Khao Lak, but this is the best we have experienced.
The only negative is that we used to like eating at the small independent beach bars for lunch, but they have been removed by the local government.

Fab new property was perfect for our family of 3. Beach, pools (massive and many), food and activities. Comfortable room (could have been larger but not small), exceedingly helpful staff, decent (if overpriced) food. We will return!

A treat!

It was such a treat staying at this hotel. From the amazing breakfast to the beautiful grounds, wonderful staff and probably the most comfortable bed in Thailand! My only complaint is that we couldn’t stay longer. All facilities were excellent and nothing was too much trouble.

Striking design

Strikingly designed hotel, all you would expect from a hotel of this class. Staff friendly and welcoming, although some aspects of the room cleaning and minibar refilling service need attention to achieve the highest of standards. Pool layout is excellent, and breakfasts comprehensive and delicious.Plenty of local restaurants a short stroll from the hotel so a great choice of places to eat.
