I couldn’t leave this place fast enough. Room was so small you could barely turn around, and was not as depicted. Parking was a nightmare! Host was not happy that we were arriving at 9 (check in close), and made sure that we knew we had inconvenienced him. Earlier I had let him know it would be evening before we would arrive and he was fine. After a long day of mishaps, we decided to grab dinner before checking in, which apparently was not the thing to do! We arrived at 9 and were treated very poorly. Perfect ending to what had already been a bad day. Left at sun up and skipped breakfast so we wouldn’t have to interact with Eldon! Worst stay in our two week trip to Great Britain.

Had a lovely couple of days staying at craglands , Eldon our host was spot on with us, even helped carry one of our cases to our room which was on the top floor ( view was fantastic but the stairs are a killer lol ) cooked breakfast has to be ordered the night before with plenty to choose from ,cereal and toast available as well which you just help yourself to , room was lovely and warm and clean, parking is at the side of the property and bear in mind you're reversing off the main road , but thats just the location of the property, really convenient for keswick town centre , its about a 20 minute walk downhill, we got a taxi back as we had been for a few drinks and that was cheap ( less than 5 pounds) all in all a great stay

WE did not stay there despite having paid for the room, the property is very run down , there was a horrible smell in our room and a notice on the window saying it could not be opened because there was a wasps nest outside.
Do not believe the rating or the so called verified reviews for this property on Expedia!

A lovely guesthouse with a lovely owner. It’s walking distance to everything in Keswick. Lots of information on walks etc provided. A fantastic cooked breakfast is included in the price. The only negative for me is the radiator in my room wasn’t as hot as my friend's room downstairs and I really feel the cold. Otherwise perfect.

Aldon, our host, was helpful and approachable. Our room had a great view of the mountains and the sunsets were beautiful. We had a bathroom in our room which was very convenient. Aldon prepars breakfast to suit the requests of the visitors staying with him and the meals were tasty and filling. I highly recommend this property.

Would not recommend

Wouldn’t recommend. Tired, old fashioned rooms.. with out of date biscuits. I found the owner intense and he insisted I pay cash, which caught me off guard as I like the guarantee my card brings. Owner insisted on an ETA first day and wanted to know my plans so he could decide where to park my car. Keys had to be left incase he needed to move it. Breakfast was poor. Cold bacon, old cereals, frozen bread I had to toast myself… I felt really let down. I left without breakfast the last day as I just couldn’t stomach it. Keswick is beautiful. This place isn’t.

It was a last minute booking, so there wasn’t a lot of choice. The accommodation needs a severe update , carpets, wallpaper all 70’s…. Nothing matched , carpets….what your parents had in the 70’ . Breakfast was ok. Host was friendly & very informative.

Do check in around your eta given to Eldon, complications can arise I gather if this is not done.
I booked on hotels.com and, believing I'd paid by card, arrived three days later...to find one of the first things I was told was that, 'you haven't been charged, we only take cash and there is an ATM at the nearest garage'. Just wondering what happened to my card details given over to Hotels.com.
On arrival Eldon seemed brusque in welcome, this mellowed somewhat.
OK - I'd agreed a single room with shared bathroom, but didn't expect it to be one and a half floors below my bedroom...3am visit not easiest...
The bedroom was spotlessly clean, tho small and the breakfast was ok, lots of helpful laminated notes around to help use shower, breakfast booking system, car parking system. The carpark is very tight and exits onto two blind bends - I turned left and swung around the next bollards about 100m away if I wanted to go back down into Keswick.
The outside look of the place is not helped by properties either side of it being renovated with all the usual builders materials and scaffolding etc.
Other reviews of double rooms are more glowing, sorry I cant be more effusive about the single room at the top of the house.

Superb location just on the edge of town but with the old railway path on your doorstep..Eldon the host was amazing and couldn’t do enough for you and made sure my stay was trouble free..onsite parking which is a bonus but I didn’t need it and the breakfast was a 10/10..price was very competitive also, the property was spotless and the room I had was a single with shared facilities but it had everything I needed..would I stay here..definitely

A lovely place in a lovely location.

This cosy B&B lies just on the outskirts of town but is within easy access by foot by means of a path which is not far from the accommodation. The rooms are of a decent size and nicely decorated. Eldon, the owner, is an excellent host, giving us all the information we needed on arrival. Although parking is on site, this place is around a bend which means backing in. Eldon can move vehicles about for you to enable all guests to park up. The shared bathroom, and additional toilet was shared between two rooms, so no queuing up was needed and all were very clean and warm. Breakfasts were of good quality with ample sufficiency (you let Eldon know what you’d like the evening before).I would stay there again.

The breakfast each morning was a great start to the day. Less than a mile from the town centre so never used the car unless we went out of Keswick. Would recommend to friends and family.

Friendly B&B in Keswick, I'd definitely come back!

Great location on the edge of Keswick Town Centre. Private parking on site. Run by a really friendly family who give the place a personal touch. Definitely makes you want to come back. My room was very compact, fine for me as a solo traveller but no more than that. Shared bathroom but spotlessly clean whenever I used it. Also a separate shared toilet room. You have to order your breakfast (which was excellent) the night before (just fill out a card with what you want and pop it downstairs), and they will also make you packed lunch for a reasonable extra fee though I didn't take the option up this time. Plenty of maps and advice available for local walks. Derwentwater Lake is just up the road beyond the town, and I scaled Scafell Pike from Seathwaite Farm, which was a 20 minute drive away. Great value stay and I will look to come back if in the area again.

Very friendly welcoming hosts who couldn’t be more helpful. Room was up two flights of stairs so a bit of a trek but it was clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was superb. Parking a bit tricky as situated on a bendy busy road and had to reverse in but better than having to reverse out. Wonderfully situated for all that Keswick and Cumbria offers. Lovely stay.

The guest house was located on the edge of Keswick, though a decent walk to the downtown area and lake (15-20 minutes depending on speed). It was great on nice days, and a bit of challenge on the rainier days we experienced. I was unaware of the check-in policy and setting up a time for check-in in advance of arriving to the property. We were informed that they had other obligations and were unable to wait around for check-ins into the evening (Despite a flexible schedule from 4-9 being advertised on Cheaptickets). I would have loved to have a freer schedule, but that did not appear to be an option and so booked a check-in window time. As a result we were limited what we could do to make sure we made our set arrival time. The beds were below to average and the shower pressure could have been better and was extremely hot on all but the lowest pressure setting. Parking was a bit of a challenge as you have to back in by crossing a busy road. Breakfast was nice. Overall, it was OK, but a good value for the money paid and a nice place to be based out of if you plan to spend a majority of the time sightseeing and enjoying the lake district.

We booked very last minute after another booking fell through. The location was perfect for our annual pilgrimage to Castlehead.
A massive 6ft bed with high quality linen was very welcome, as was the cooked breakfast each morning.
Parking is tight. Located at the side of the house and room for 7 or 8 cars, but it does mean you’re all blocked in and therefore be prepared to move your car... or leave your keys with Eldon and he’s happy to move it for you.

Really enjoyed our stay at Craglands, Comfy Beds and lovely Room and Breakfast.

The Hotel is conveniently situated for the Railway walk from the doorstep which can also lead onto Latrigg and Skiddaw if you so wish.

It's no more than 10 - 15 mins walk into centre of town.

We went for an evening Meal and walked back around 10pm and it took us no more than 15 mins and is a lovely walk along the Main road.

It is also conveniently placed for local Bus Routes.

Most recent stay marks my 15th night at Cragsland this year, it was a warm welcome back and felt like I was visiting relatives. My only negative note is the location is a bit of a walk from the main town centre but a taxi is only £3 with any taxi company, walking to the Theatre along the old railway line took me about 20 minutes each morning. Will stay again

Great stay at Craglands

Lovely B&B, good location on the outskirts of Keswick, short walk into the centre. Clean comfortable bedroom and shared bathroom was spotless always. The breakfast options were great, having a list was helpful and my friend and I had the fresh fruit one morning before Park Run. Then the full cooked breakfast was excellent quality. We would definitely recommend the Craglands to our family and friends.

A lovely B&B, with a welcoming couple at the helm. They dried our things after a busy day on the lakes, and a home cooked meal was ready every morning. They were not intrusive at all and we felt autonomous throughout our stay. They helpfully filled up our flask with tea every day as an option given in their hand book (though this came with a £1 charge per fill up which was not mentioned and thus was a surprise!).

I highly recommend Craglands. Hosts Eldon and Deborah are keen to please... we had a car park space and my son's mountain bike was stored safely in the house when we needed to leave it indoors. Tasty breakfasts too, and rooms kept very clean. Good night's sleep had by all! Hope to visit again!

We were welcomed by a lovely couple who were fantastic, friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The room had a superb view and was modern , comfortable and spotless.
The short stroll into Keswick took approximately 15 minutes and overall the location was just the job! We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and the breakfast was outstanding. You have a wide choice of breakfast and we were 'set up for the day' afterwards.
We will most certainly be recommending 'Craglands' Guest House to our friends as the accommodation and location truly met our needs.

Most warm welcome from the owner, Eldon. Even valet parked my car for me. Had a wonderful nights sleep, and a delicious breakfast. I will definitely be returning. The view out the front, of the surrounding mountains, is magnificent.

Just perfect

The host are fab, we arrived late on friday night due to work for a 2 night stay. We received a pleasent greeting. We explained we would miss breakfast due to wanting to run the local parkrun. Eldon agreed we book in and make a morning sandwich for our return. Simple and stress free. We were marshalling at a race in town on sunday. We were allowed to leave the car on site even though we had checked out. This saved us hassle of trying to park in the busy town centre. Thank you so much.
