It is critically important that you reach out DIRECTLY to the retreat to book activities, meals and spas services as they don’t seem to get Expedia messages. Also, check-in is 4pm or after or there is an early fee of $500 (the sister limited hotel w/private lagoon does not charge for an early check-in). Check-out is at 11am or a fee applies. I would recommend 2 nights to enjoy in full. This retreat has a private lagoon that you can enjoy after hours all well. There is a meditation room with a ceiling waterfall and fireplace room that is so calming along with the spa fully body ritual. I would highly recommend the floating massages. A once in a lifetime experience.

Great hotel and spa, really well presented building and the rooms were clean, well equipped and quiet. The breakfast was excellent. The staff were very attentive and polite. OK it's a little pricey but well worth the experience overall. The only negative for me was from the Lava restaurant where I had probably the worst steak ever especially given it's hefty price tag.

One of the most amazing hotels in the world, hewn out of a 600-year-old lava field and connecting with the Blue Lagoon. This is not only Iceland’s number 1 hotel, but totally world-class. Stylish, fantastic service, fluent English by ALL staff, super-modern rooms (lighting can be a bit confusing), keyless entry to room via wrist device, extraordinary spa, good food - what more can one ask? Our only complaint: service in the restaurants is s.l.o.w.

We were told all the food/wine/coffee/drinks on the fridge and cabinet were complimentary and free but we were charged for the 2 beers we took from the same fridge where all the drinks are kept. Its a lie! Inaccurate information considering how incredibly expensive to stay in this particular hotel. It is not worth to stay for four nights as we spent most of our days outdoor.

The place itself is amazing and must be experienced. Also on one night we got to see the Northern Lights which put the experience one notch up. However the service is severely lacking, always had to ask for our waiter and then keep asking for service. This was at Breakfast, Spa restaurant and also Lava restaurant, it was so bad feeling like you are being ignored constantly , because others would sit around us and immediately got helped, this honestly almost ruined the trip for us.

Incredible but massively over priced
There’s no doubt that this is an amazing experience and unique hotel but it’s impossible to justify the price for what you get. The spa is great but experienced better at a third of the price. The treatments are not worth the money. The Lava restaurant is out of place, it feels cheaper than the rest of the hotel and the food and wine does also, but it’s very expensive. The breakfast is amazing, so are the rooms from which we saw the northern lights. The staff and service are also first class.
£400 per night should really be the maximum you could charge for this hotel but it is ideal if you want something exclusive that priced out the average person

Not what we expected of a 5 star hotel
The first night we arrived, there was a problem with our rooms electricity and they had to cut it off. We had to spend a night in Icelandic winter at a 5 star hotel without electricity or heating. After complaining to the manager a refund for that night was offered. To our surprise, the full amount was charged despite their assurances that they would not. I guess the hotel's management is not honest. Otherwise the hotel facilities are great. However our overall experience was completely ruined because of this incident. I would not go back or recommend this hotel to anyone.

We loved our stay at the Blue Lagoon.
We arrived in time to partake in their afternoon tea. Our host suggested that we enjoy champagne and tea while they took care of checking us in (they even brought all the paperwork to our table). Our host gave us a tour of the facility and our suite when we were done.
Breakfast was included and had a wide assortment of made to order and buffet items. I recommend trying their take on eggs benedict. We found that if you were sitting in the library or even the lobby someone would always stop and ask if you wanted a coffee or tea or hot chocolate.
The suite was amazing, small but well laid out. The pictures online really don't do them justice. When I showed my partner the pictures online he was not impressed (thought that it did not look like a room worth paying almost $1300.00 a night for). Once we go to the room he was more impressed. There is plenty of storage space, a huge shower, a soaking tub in the room, a seating area looking out the floor to ceiling windows, a small balcony, there is an electric kettle and a espresso machine (along with tea packets and coffee pods). There is a complimentary minibar (soda, waters, juices, beer and wine). The room is well stocked with blue lagoon products for you to try out. There is a room tablet that basically allows you to control everything from lights, dining options, housekeeping, and so much more.
Our only disappointments were that the room was too hot and that the lagoon closes by 10pm.

Very nice atmosphere. Extraordinary site for the spa. Private spa entry for hotel guest. The restaurant exceeded our expectation and the food wad great and healthy. The only downside is the late night check in staff has a strange attitude. But other staff we encountered during the stay was helpful.

A bucket-list worthy hotel stay
My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night at the conclusion of our trip to Iceland. The hotel is about 20 minutes from the airport and much closer than Reykjavik. We arrived around 1:30pm and our room was ready before the printed 3pm check-in time. We were given a welcome cocktail on the comfortable couches in the lobby while a staff member went through our planned activities our stay and explained the setup of the hotel. Our bags were already in our room (Lava Jr Suite) when we arrived. The room was incredible and had all the top luxury amenities you could hope for. The rainfall shower had 3 different settings and a beautiful reflective ceiling showing the water drops. The bed was amazingly comfortable. The view was also to die for.
That evening, we had booked the Chef's table at Moss Restaurant which begins at 6:15pm. By 6:45pm, we were still waiting for others sitting at the table to arrive yet nobody had begun our meal experience which was frustrating. The service was very very slow (wine pairing showing up 15 min before the course). You can tell they are trying to get a Michelin star but there is still more work to be done.
The next morning there was a crazy storm which resulted in our in-water massages being canceled. The spa did nothing to alert us in advance or make alternative plans for us whatsoever which was a big service disappointment at a hotel of this caliber. They eventually did refund our ~$400 fee for the changing room that day.

The check in service was good. But the checkout service was not. After you check out, there will be no help with car or suitcases - you will be on ur own the minute U return the room key or the bracelet. It is not good hospitality practice in general. Hospitality is whole experience - any part of that experience done insincerely will create a dent in the whole experience.

It is expensive but it offers unique access to the tourist destination. Even thought it is right next to public lagoon, the experience is very private. The price includes a lot of amenities. You have access to the spa and private lagoon until 10pm. The staff is causal but attentive. The resort is new and clean. It's hard to say that it was entirely worth the money. But I am not disappointed.

One of the most relaxing and fantastic stays I've ever had and that's something considering I travel a lot and have stayed in many hotels The room was spectacular (shower, bath, bed and minibar) as was the amazing view.
