The staff was super friendly, even changing my room so I would have a better view in case the northern lights would make an appearance! I had to be up super early for a flight so in-room coffee makers would be my suggestion. Otherwise staff gave me a complimentary transfer back to the airport, what more could I ask for?!

The Keilir is a very nice family owned Hotel. It is clean, safe, has good heat and fist internet. The breakfast is simple but nice and food is fresh. I have stayed at just about every hotel in Keflavik and for my money Hotel Keilir is the best value. I've spent dozens of nights there and I always look forward to my stay.

The hotel is on Main street, so within walking distance to many things, which is nice. We had a room on the back side of the building so it was quiet other than the general noise of life. The outside of the property was deceiving, as it was under construction, but the interior was clean and updated. We had a very early flight so we did not get to experience the breakfast option.

It did not have coffee or tea, which may have been an oversight.

It was very inconvenient not to have an elevator to the upper floor.
I am compromise in lifting, and it was a problem.
I also encounter two other individuals struggling with their luggage.
A good price for a nights stay should not compromise your health.

The room was clean and worked out for us. Staff is lacking and communication is poor. It was listed as having a restaurant. A continental breakfast was available but no other meals. We were directed to a restaurant down the street ( Rain) which was very good. A complimentary shuttle to and from the airport is available. Distance to Keflavík airport is about 10 minutes by car.

Wonderful host and respite

We had an unexpected medical emergency on our flight to Iceland, where we were only supposed to have a short layover before continuing on to Berlin. After an ambulance ride and a hospital visit, we were thankfully cleared to fly—but our rescheduled flight wasn’t until the next morning. Exhausted and in need of rest, we searched for a place to stay and found Hotel Keilir in Keflavík.

Check-in wasn’t until 3 PM, but when we explained our situation, Pryndiss at the front desk went above and beyond to help us. She kindly arranged to have a room cleaned and ready immediately so we could check in at 9 AM. And also provided us with a light breakfast.

Thanks to her warmth and hospitality, we were able to have the restful, restorative day we desperately needed.

To top it off, Pryndiss ensured our 5 am shuttle to the airport next morning was on time so we could make our flight to Berlin. That level of kindness is rare, and we will never forget it.

The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet, but what truly makes Hotel Keilir special is the people. If you’re looking for a place that not only provides comfort but also genuine care, I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough.

We arrived shortly before 4:00 and check in was handled quickly with friendly conversation. We were only there for one night and they recommended the restaurant Ráin which was very good as well as a taxi booked for us for the next mornings trip to the airport. Would stay again.

What we liked: the view from the room. And TV had English TV stations.
The bathroom wasn't comfortable, because there was no place to put your toiletries. And in the bedroom were no drawers to place your clothes, only a desk.
The personnel were rude and nasty.The only person that tried to help us when we got to the hotel was Nicolai. There was an old man there, too, he even wouldn't talk to us...he ignored us, kind of creepy, like a character of a horror movie, very unpleasant situation.
The breakfast was very poor and this old man was the one taking care of it with his dirty hands and dirty clothes... like he just jumped out of bed...
And when was time for the shuttle...oh my!! you needed to leave at the time they said, not when you needed, if you have more than one suitcase...be aware...they don't like that.
Anyway, we won't go back to that hotel, for sure!!!
If you book with them it will be under your own risk!! Guest be aware!!!

This hotel is good value for those making a brief stop-over in Iceland. It is conveniently located to the airport (not Reykjavík). If you are polite, the front desk will go out of their way to help and advise you. I do have a minor suggestion, though: the showers should have soap dishes.

A small room for a solo traveler. Perfect. Water pressure was awesome in the very clean bathroom. Outside of the building is aged but inside is great. I booked because said there was a bar and restaurant. There is a small 3 seat bar area with limited drinks but the only food area was the prepaid breakfast station. Family run business that takes pride in the facility.

I paid a little over $400 a night for a room near the airport with shuttle service. I was told someone was \"sick, and that things happen\" at 5:45 am after being told a 5:15 ride was arranged. Then I was told that I had \"more time\" than another couple who were waiting for their ride, and to wait until they were dropped off ...I ended up taking a cab--whick obviated the entire reason I stayed at a near airport hotel ( the cab ride was over $30 for a five minute ride, but that is another story.)

The room was basic, with a window that did not open. The hallway smelled like mildew and a dead rodent. There was no elevator, and our room was on the second floor (we had 3 large bags and three small ones).

Generally, a poor experience that I paid much $ for.

This hotel is a lovely gem, right on the sea and a quick drive from the airport. But the most amazing part is the staff. Our flight was delayed and we arrived extremely late. Nearly 1:00 am. We thought for sure we were going to be stuck at the airport, but the manager of the hotel not only answered our call, but found a driver to pick us up! I have never stayed at a hotel anywhere in the world that would go so far to help their guests. We are so grateful and will return to this hotel each time we visit Iceland.

There was a hiccup with the shuttle due to delayed flight. Not sure what I was looking out for but after a call (on a borrowed phone) and a 40 minute wait the car arrived. The airport seems to virtually close down from 9pm. Apart from that everything was good.

Negative Star Review: Stay Away!

I had a truly disappointing experience at this hotel. From the moment we arrived, the receptionist was cold and unwelcoming—no greeting, no smile, just an overall unpleasant attitude.

Walking to our room was just as bad. We had to navigate through a dim, unlit corridor that felt unsafe and neglected. It set a terrible tone for our stay.

But the worst part? The hotel advertises a shuttle service, but when we asked for a ride, they outright denied us! No explanation, just a flat “no.” To make matters worse, we saw the same receptionist give another guest a ride to the airport! The favoritism and lack of professionalism were shocking.

Our very bad experience was recorded on video, and we plan to share it to warn others. This place is a nightmare. Don’t waste your time or money. There are far better options out there. Avoid at all costs!

Lovely view from the room. Breakfast was simple - glad it was included because not worth the price they wanted.
Beware travellers, taxis in the area are hard to get on a timely basis and are costly. The shuttle ran about the same cost at 20-25 Euros. Since we had little luggage on a connecting flight, we opted to walk to the airport. It took less than an hour and had a very nice paved path all the way.

Always an easy place to use coming from or going to the airport. Clean and comfortable, but pretty bare bones and the breakfast is not really worth it. Not meant for staying any longer than one night, because you’re going to want to get either home, or on your way on your trip in Iceland. This is just a convenient stopover.

When we first got to the property it looked promising. We called ahead and were picked up from the airport by the shuttle (TBD on if it was free) but we did wait about 30 minutes for it which to us was ok. The room was big enough for one night and the beds were comfortable even though it was two singles pushed together. The bathroom had a musty fart smell and no toiletries. The view from our window was stunning which was nice. There is NO ELEVATOR so be prepared to carry your bags and if you have trouble with stairs please avoid this one. The breakfast was laughable, toast with cheese and a broken coffee machine. We ended up walking 20 minutes up the street to a delicious bakery instead. Now the checkout process can make someone crazy. The check out time is 11am not 12 like Expedia states. There was no one at the front desk. There was 12-15 people in the lobby waiting to check out and no one was there. We waited for 20 minutes before someone asked the housekeeping and they said to just leave your keys on the desk and walk to a near by hotel for a shuttle (which was supposed to be offered at this hotel fyi). All of us walked over to the nearby hotel which informed us that the shuttle is in fact not free unless we were their guests. We tried to call the hotel and the neighbouring hotel did as well and no one was able to get through. This was an awful experience. Not worth the $300 we paid for the stay.

I would not recommend this hotel! The Refrigerator in room not work, toilet seat not attached very good. NO ELEVATOR !!!!! Breakfast was toast and cold cuts. They claim airport pickup but when tried to call fo pickup no one answered, had to take a cab. I would not recommend this hotel! The only good was they did shuttle me back to airport.

Good for a quick layover stay. We were there for only about 6 hours to sleep. Bathroom was a bit musty, but the room was clean. It was a Saturday night, and the hotel had an Irish pub located across the street. It was very noisy, and we basically heard everything that was going on outside. We didn’t get great sleep, but for the money paid it was fine. The hotel staff was super helpful, and check in was a breeze. Shuttle to the airport in the morning was also a plus since the wait for a taxi was over an hour long. Overall it was fine for a quick stay.

The website advertised Airport shuttle and there was none. The TV in the room kept switching itself off every few minutes.The WIFI did not work for me
There are no charging outlets for Electronic laptop and phones etc. The bed was uncomfortable. The room was clean but somewhat outdated. The receptionist was nice and friendly. She told me there was a real nice bakery next door for coffee and pastries, but I could not find it.

Avoid at all cost- terrible service

Terrible customer service and rude staff. Else than welcoming you staff will make you feel- Why are you here!
I made booking based on room description and pictures shown but it’s no way near to what we have experienced.
1) No one answers reception phone - try to call and you will find out.
2) They don’t allow you to check in before 2pm which is fine as per their pre defined policies but they were not even ready with rooms at 2pm considering we were waiting for a pre booked room from 12:00pm.
3) I booked family room for peace of mind but they kept trying for make me settle with something else, and made us move from 1 room to another- Not recommended for Families at all.
4) No consideration that you are travelling with kids- not their problem.
5) Oh and there are no lifts, 2-3 floors but no lifts.

Our flight arrived in to KEF at 10pm and were able to get free transportation from the hotel that was easy to arrange. Checking in was easy and the front desk person was very nice and helpful. We stayed in the quad room. The beds are very close, but we enjoyed having beds for everyone. There was a free breakfast, but unfortunately there was a tour group in there that had eaten almost every single item and was pushing us out of the way every time they brought more food. That is not the fault of the hotel, but still was not the best experience. The area was really beautiful and super close to the airport. It is not downtown, but is ideal for a quick stay after flying in or before flying out.

Shuttle 24/7 yes but every two hours and already fully booked when I asked to reserve a space night before my morning flight. :( Early check in offered when I telephone front desk one week before my visit. Yes. But not available when I arrived morning of my stay. :( 24/7 manned front desk. No. I Arrived just before eight a.m. and waited ten minutes at front desk before guy washing dishes back of house came forward to desk to greet me . :( Free shuttle from airport “Just call hotel. For a ride. “ I’d been told. Well, yeah but when I called hotel staff told me next shuttle would pick me up in two hours. :( I walked instead fifty minutes to hotel.) Very disappointing mismatch of promises and actual services.

There was discrepancy between what was shared on Expedia and what was offered.

Checkin time suggested was 2 pm but we did not get room until 3:30 pm. Moreover, we waited in line for an hour to get to reception to check in.

It seemed like there was just 1 staff handling everything. Receptionist was patient and courteous but that didn't change the impact on the overall experience.

In addition, we were charged for shuttle to airport on the way back. Expedia booking did not mention that but reception staff said that's what we offer.

No toiletries in the shower either.

This was the most expensive hotel for our entire 14 day trip and came with least amenities and bad experience.

So, I wouldn't recommend this property if you have other choice.

Do not stay here! There is a nightclub about a block away playing very loud thumping dance music. Patrons of the club wander in front of the hotel cursing, puking, yelling, etc. Then they get into their cars and rev the engines. Seems they like waking hotel guests or bothering tourists. Very annoying and loud part of town. If you want some sleep before flying out of KEF stay someplace else. The staff are not helpful and could care less that guests can not get any rest. Stay far away from this Hotel Hell.

Ali was really nice and gave me a ride from the airport. He even let me checkin 2 hours early at no extra cost. The hotel room was decent for one person, but there was no shampoo or soap in the shower. Also, remember the shuttle is only one way, so there won't be a return trip to the airport.

There is no elevator, so expect to carry your bags upstairs. The rooms are functional but basically like a hostel room with a private bath. The woman working the front desk (she was there when we checked in after 8 and when we left in the morning) was very polite and helpful. The hotel did offer airport transport with taxis.

Clean, quiet rooms with comfortable beds and linens. Nice location by the beach. A quiet place to rest for a few hours between flights. Airport shuttle not as advertised. Not a shuttle van, rather a car. Not ideal for families or large groups traveling to the hotel. Also, shuttle only provided one way or once per visit.

We were only there for 6 hours, so I can't leave a comprehensive review. It was just a place to rest with our three kids during a layover. The staff was very nice and waited up late for our late plane to arrive, then helped us arrange a taxi back to the airport early in the morning. Clean, simple. Just what we needed for a few hours.

Choose for location & shuttle. Shuttle only one way! Small car. Not too many people can fit. No elevator!!! Room Very basic!!!!! No hooks to hang anything, or towels. Phone not plugged in, when plugged in, phone has no service! Two bedside tables in room. One had no off & on switch. Do not stay here!!!! No shampoo, conditioner!

Hotel was close to the airport and was very clean. We specifically picked this hotel because they offered free breakfast and free airport transport. The breakfast was great. The transport from the airport to the hotel was also great. Our only negative with this hotel was with the hotel transport back to the airport. We made arrangements with the front desk the night before. It seems that they forgot and in the end they ended up calling a taxi for us that we ended up having to pay for.

Fine but over priced

Room was very basic for the money. Just big enough for the beds in quad room. Read the fine print - airport transfer is only for one way. Had to pay taxi to get back the next day.

But the room was more like a hostel
Experience with camp style beds
Biggest disappointment was
No blockout curtains and it stays
24 hours a day in summer
Bonus was a lift to the nearby airports
Which was why I booked it
