Great pool, nice spot. Small things like no dish-wash soap or dish-sponge etc (when only there for a few days and asked to keep all kitchen items clean etc). Asked for extra towels for pool which were provided & were great. 10min walk to beach / bakery / cafe / sodas. 2 min walk to grocery store. On a busy road.

The “ casita” was clean, but very much outdated.I would suggest some improvements, especially in the bathrooms. The staff were friendly and polite. The outdoor areas were very beautiful, clean, quiet.

This property's location is great for accessing different beaches, and the development is pristine. However, the owner of cabin 62 should invest some time and money to upgrade the cabin. The main bathroom door won't close completely, and the washer/dryer combo smells musty.

The room was clean and ac worked great. The kitchen wasn’t fully stocked, no spatula (we made do with a big spoon) very basic supplies, and no dish soap or sponge to clean dishes with. We just had to buy it but at 5 of our last stays on this trip the kitchens were all fully stocked with everything needed including cleaning supplies. Location is close to the beach- about 10 min walk. Grocery store down the street- 5 min walk. Plenty of parking here and security guard was always friendly. The pool closed at 7pm unfortunately, all other stays was 9-10 pm. I think if a few things were improved here it would be a lot better.

Let me start by helping others avoid getting lost when finding this hotel/resort. When searching on Google, it directed us to a different location—but luckily, it was close to the actual hotel. Make sure to look for Villaggio Sueño al Mar, Flor de Pacifico #5 (the correct location). Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by security, who will direct you to the main office.

I booked a villa for a family of four, which came with two bedrooms. The villa had a kitchenette, which made it more affordable to cook rather than eating out all the time. Housekeeping came by every other day to keep the place clean.

Keep in mind, this place can be a bit loud—almost like staying in the rural areas of Costa Rica. You’ll hear birds chirping, iguanas running around the premises, cows nearby, and even howler monkeys.

One of the best parts is its location: close to beaches, local restaurants called “sodas” in Costa Rica, and small markets. Just be warned—there are bugs, and they will make their way inside (ants and millipedes). Bring bug spray, because mosquitoes will find you.

Aside from that, I truly enjoyed my stay at Sueño al Mar—from the friendly, helpful staff to the unique, almost jungle-like experience.

Relaxing and quiet stay. Check in process easy and staff was helpful. Villa was clean with frequent housekeeping service. Highlight was the pool which is accessible to all guests. Beach is a 10 minute drive away or 20 minute walk. Grocery store Super La Muralla nearby along with small restaurants serving breakfast and lunch.

The rooms were decorated beautifully, showers were big, and the property was nice. However, I wouldn’t recommend because it was literally infested with ants and termites. Theres are better options in playa flamingo area.

BE AWARE—this property is clean and spacious. The staff is friendly and the pool is clean and pretty. However parking is a problem. The last night we had to park outside and someone scratch our rental car. We had to pay a deductible at the rental car. Although the property is awesome I would stay away do to the parking situation regardless of the security guard that means nothing.

Do not stay here! Staff have attitudes and are rude. There is a large dog they keep muzzled due to unfriendly behavior in the reception area. There is no quiet hours and people are yelling and having loud conversations out at the pool all night. We had a drunk man knocking on our door at midnight wearing a headlight saying the power was out but it wasn't. The driveway is steap and our 4 wheel drive Suv had trouble getting up to the parking. The room we had had no water pressure to shower. No coffee pots in room. ABSOLUTELY WOULD NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!

Disappointing place but lovely country

I think that Expedia needs to re-think their ad for this place. The village was isolated with no front desk...they don't tell you that it is in a different village down the road. You really are on your own. The Wi-Fi did not work. the shower head gave you electric shocks, there was no sofa as promised, 2 free breakfasts were provided after we complained that no one told us when and where they were supposed to be. We were supposed to get free breakfasts all week and the restaurant was down the road, not on site.
Thank goodness that the Ticos were lovely and there were a couple of helpful people in our village or we would have been lost.

Clean place but as I mentioned earlier the bar manager Daniellia was very nice but her boss berated her for no reason in front of the customers driving away business. This made for an uncomfortable experience relaxing for an evening drink

The hotel grounds and general layout of the facility are really beautiful. However, the particular room we were in had a couple of small bugs/spiders running around - not a major inconvenience but need to be dealt with before settling down to unpack and relax. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The location is great, and very close to the beach. The ride in the surrounding roads opened up beautiful vistas of the jagged hills and the ocean, all in one sweep - which was a great experience.

Villaggio, clean, quiet, and great service

I went to Flamingo Beach to learn Spanish and chose this hotel in Protrero, originally I only booked 4 days but extended for my entire stay of 14 days. the units are condos with 2 units per building. I had a large kitchen, good sized bedroom, and bathroom, also there was a small patio off the kitchen. The location is a little remote so if you don't have a car you will need to take cabs which can be arranged at reception. You can walk in 15 minutes to the beach, Playa La Penca is very clean, good for swimming,sunsets, and there weren't many people. You can also walk 10 minutes to two local food stores, both adequate for the basics but don't expect to find fresh meats or seafood. There is also a popular bar next to the markets, called Las Brisas, basic beach bar, good place to end the day as the sun goes down. The Marco Polo restaurant is 5 minutes away, Italian fare, good service, average prices, good food, I returned 3 times and was never disappointed , try the Caesar salad, tuna carpaccio, or tagliatelle con carne, I also had a decent steak, actually prepared as I asked...very rare!
The hotel has wifi in the courtyard near reception, there's an ice cream shop with homemade ice cream and they make great coffees, as you would hope in Costa Rica. The Villaggio has a fantastic pool, it never became crowded and there's a huge jacuzzi as well. They have daily cleaning of the units, and laundry service, I definitely recommend Villaggio if you are looking for a clean, quiet place

Pros, cons of Villagio-

Overall, my stay at the Villagio was great.
I was in Costa Rica for a friend's destination wedding at one of the resorts on Playa Flamingo.
The Villagio was much more affordable than many of the resorts in Playa Flamingo. The free wi-fi in the main areas worked fine. The rooms were large and very clean. The hotel staff was so friendly and helpful. There is a tourist-organizer-tour outfitter right in the main plaza of the hotel.

The Villago has 3 pools, a small gellato store and espresso cafe, plus the main Marco Polo restaurant. There are long termers there (staying 6 weeks- many months), as well as people who seemed to own their condo/villa as a vacation home, etc. I stayed for 1 wk.

The place seems to be run by Italians. Many also spoke English, in addition to Spanish and Italian. My only concern was the location-- and this depends on what you were planning on doing, and if you rented a car. I did not rent a car, but needed to be in Flamingo beach daily for wedding activities. The public bus stop is about 1 block from the Villagio, which was great-- and only costs about $1 US. This is what I usually did.

The bus did not run very late, however, and if I was out past 9 pm, I needed to pay $10 US for a cab to take me about 4-5 miles back to the Villagio.

So, if I had rented a car, great, no issues. If I took the public bus and had no time constrictions, great, no problem. If I'm not on a budget, cab, great, no problem. Additionally, you could walk from the Portreo beach to the Flamingo beach during the day in about 30- 40 minutes. The Villagio is actually in the Playa Portrero area (as opposed to the 'downtown' Portreo area). Most of the roads are not paved.

Hope this helps, I would easily use this hotel again.

lugar muy limpio los empleados muy amables muy serviciales dan muy buenas indicaciones para pasarla bien ... el desayuno incluido no lo sirven en el hotel y la señora de la soda parese que le esta regalando a uno las cosas de muy mala manera lo sirvió ... se tiene que usar el auto para ir alas playas ... el hotel es un lugar tranquilo ..
