We were in Toledo for a wedding and enjoyed two nights here as it was the venue for day 2. Fantastic location, set in the town walls. Beautiful architecture. Lovely spacious room. Lovely staff. Lots of lovely breakfast options. Excellent location for a walk to see the sites and also super easy to travel from Madrid using public transport.

We recently stayed at Hotel Hacienda del Cardenal in Toledo and were truly impressed by the stunning property. Attached to the ancient fortress walls, the hotel exudes historic charm, with beautifully maintained gardens, a peaceful courtyard, and not one but two inviting pools—perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring.
The location is another big plus. Just a short walk to the old town, the hotel is conveniently located near the public escalators , making access to the historic center very easy.
A special mention goes to Angelica at the front desk, who was extremely helpful and accommodating during our check-in. She made sure our luggage was taken care of even though we arrived before the official check-in time, and her warm demeanor set the tone for a pleasant stay.
We were initially looking forward to trying the hotel's restaurant, particularly their suckling pig, but it was closed on Sunday—something worth noting for future guests. Despite that, we were very happy with our room. It was clean, well laid out, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. Housekeeping staff were also friendly and efficient throughout our stay.

Apart from how excellent this accommodation was, I felt like staying in a royal castle. The rich history, smell of the old castle, furniture and surroundings add so much to the experience. Staff was so friendly and welcoming. I had an early morning train so they were so accommodating in packing our to-go breakfasts. Very happy and glad I stayed here.

The location is very convenient. It’s 10 minutes from the train station in car. The hotel is just next to the entrance of the muralla and 3 minutes walk to the Puerta de Bisagra.
We didn’t book a tour or had a car. Ubers and Cabify dont serve that zone but the hotel staff call you a taxi and it gets there in less than 5 minutes. They called us a taxi for el Mirador del Valle and to the train station.

It's a lovely environment. Our room 305 had a view of the old town and beyond with a small balcony and enormous bed. My partner was less keen on the open plan bathroom but the shower was excellent.

The hotel is conveniently located near the bus stop and escalators that take you up to the old town. Directions to the property from Google Maps are wrong and it’s better to search for Puerta de Alfonso VI which is just around the corner.

The hall to the hotel lift was stuffy and dusty as if it had not been cleaned out since its conception. The room was large, but the bathroom was cramped with the toilet and the bidet inches from each other. You need to walk between that few inches of space to reach the bathtub that only had half a glass so you had to take showers carefully. Upon entering the room, we found some hair in the bathroom and on the bed.
Front gates to the property closes at 7. After, you need to ring a bell that may or may not work or wait for someone to leave to get back in.

Amazing quaint hotel. A little hard to find when we first arrived but so worth it. Friendly & helpful staff. We had a glass of wine & cheese & meat board at their restaurant, lots on it, more than enough for two to share. They included complimentary tapas with the glass of wine which were yummy as well. Our room was nice & clean. They have some of the biggest bath towels we have ever had at a hotel. Provided iron & board upon request. The ground of the hotel are nice as well, many nooks & crannies to explore. Wish we were staying longer.

A charming and magical hotel
My wife and I stayed in this very hotel over 20 years ago. It was so amazing then that we were determined to stay here again for our second visit to Toledo. It was magical then and was again. Historic architecture, close to the city center and as charming as ever. Although there was some remodeling of the hotel going on, that didn't affect this amazing stay.

This is a unique hotel in an unusual setting -- the former residence of a Toledo cardinal. The property is interesting and attractive, with gardens and adjoining restaurant and bar. Rooms are comfortable and clean, but not extraordinary. The main issue is that the guest services are lacklustre. Maybe they are jaded by the flow of tourists, but staff seem rather indifferent in dealing with guests. No effort to be particularly friendly or helpful. The most glaring problem is that there is concierge service to help with baggage. This is a big drawback because guests have to carry their luggage from an external carpark through the hotel gardens and up at least 6 flights of stairs to the lobby. This place needs to invest in staff training and hire a porter.

This place was a tourist attraction all by itself. Steps away from the base of the 6-section long escalator and the Bisagra Gate. Easy but expensive parking that they’ll give a few euro discount. I often don’t choose the “breakfast included” option because it’s so often dreadful but this one is worth it. Able to fill up enough I didn’t even need lunch. Block out the “Stepford Wives” muzak and you can enjoy the room. Be sure to build in time to relax on the patio. Really lovely.

Hacienda Del Cardenal is an amazing, beautiful property! We stayed there in June 2017 and were eager to return for our second visit in late September 2018. We look forward to a third visit in the future! The restaurant there is excellent. This is an historic property which will not disappoint people who appreciate history and the beauty of old architecture and antiques.

This is probably the finest hotel in Toledo. It is absolutely charming and unique with its lush terrace and roasted meats for dinner offerings. However, there are MANY stairs to climb w/o a bellman.
