First of all, two huge issues as for me: this hotel is located NOT where Google maps show it, which is a real problem for a tourist, in addition, there was no parking available at all, which again is a problem on these narrow medieval streets. One smaller problem was the lack of soundproofing - you could hear everything that's happening around your room. On the good side: they have at least one person who speaks a decent English which is rare is Spain. The historical building is just gorgeous and very well renovated. Again, not a bad hotel, but for the price I paid, I would have expected more comfort.

Pictures shown on website / Expedia are not faithful to what you get. We ordered the triple room with a beautiful view and spacious accommodations. Instead we got a basement room that was TINY. After folding down the “triple bed” there was maybe 8 square feet of room for luggage and getting around. This was after we hauled our luggage across 500 meters of cobblestone (the website did mention this to be fair).

I showed the website photos to the front desk and said “what’s the difference between these photos” and got a sassy answer and an indifferent shrug. I privately wrote the property asking for a refund, three days ago. No response. At this point I need to warn future travelers not to fall for the bait and switch of this property. Buyer beware.

We will have to settle by calling our credit card company to get our money back.

Advice to the property - please just change your photos of the rooms so that customers can make an informed decision. It’s not that hard.

We absolutely loved our stay at this charming hotel so conveniently located at the gates of The Old City. The reception was quick and friendly, room spotless, breakfast for 9 Euros a piece well worth the money as it was abundant and delicious.

Based just within the town wall. Lovely area on your doorstep. Within easy reach of Jewish quarter and main square. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Only problem was a snapped bed leg that happened after the receptionist had left for the night, so had to sleep on a mattress on the floor for the night. Receptionist on checkout was very apologetic and helped to fill in the form. Just waiting to hear back from them. Other than that, which I am guessing is not a regular occurrence, a basic double room with much needed air conditioning in toledo during the summer. That is all we needed and would recommend it to others in the future.

The YIT Puerta Bisagra has a great location just inside the city walls. Our room was simple and compact but very clean, the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was excellent quality and very good value at 9 Euros.

The room was the size of a closet, could hardly open a suitcase. Not as represented on the hotel.com site. The air conditioning was not in service, the room smelled of cigarettes and a live roach, parking was a hike to a public parking with no security in site. Just some drunk guys asking for money as we walked out.
Bottom line, this is an overpriced terrible property

Dislikes - room and shower were extremely small, barely room to move. We have stayed in eight cities in Spain this year and this room was the smallest by far. AC only blew extremely hot air (set by hotel). Very noisy.

Only downside was rooms do not have curtains that keep the light out, so my blindfold came in handy. We didn't have good luck with the other guests because some were loud. we were also at the entrance to the restaurant and that in the morning was noisy. the location is great and you can take the bus in the corner for the train station. in the same place are a small restaurant and then owner old lady is a lovely person.

This is the worse experience I have ever had with a hotel. Although it is placed in the center. There isn't any parking but I won't even get into the fact that I had to cancel and they still haven't refunded me because they didn't have the room I booked and they placed us in a shittier room in the way back. Hostel well located about 5 mins uphill from main square. Rooms very small, asked change as 1st room had no air con functioning.Thankfully was able to change. Noisy from early morning with cleaners and other guests chatting in corridor outside of rooms. Continental breakfast was OK. So glad we stayed over rather than a day trip, nice to see Toledo after dark when it was much quieter after day trippers had left.

Staff is really friendly. Room is simple but very clean and comfortable. There are several beautiful monuments right around hotel as well as bus stop. Walk to center square in old town is a 15 minute walk up the hill or a few minutes by bus. One of the best, smaller hotels i stayed in during this trip around Spain.

When you arrive by taxi, the Hostal is located below the road level. So, you have to lug your suitcases down a flight of concrete steps to get there. On the plus side, the location is convenient to walk up hill to the main square. However, the room was very small and had two single beds that were very hard, and had tootsie roll(bolster) pillows. The bathtub/shower enclosure was extremely slippery. Also, the room airconditioner is controlled by the front desk. In summary, the place was OK because of the location and cheap price. So, I guess you get what you pay for.

Great clean well located hotel in a Beautiful City

Excellent place to stay with a wonderful location to walk to and in the old town. From the train station a 15-20 min walk or 5 min 1.4 Euro bus ride for 5 min which picks up at station and drops off 2 minutes from hotel. The hotel has 24 hr front desk and is exceptionally clean with an elevator and A/C. There are 6 steps down to hotel from main sidewalk at Bisagra Gate where bus drops off. Room nice size with twin comfortable firm beds. Shower Gel and small hard soap amenities. The Cafeteria was wonderfully appointed with what appeared to be a reasonable selection of a typical Spanish buffet breakfast. Breads, cold meats, fruits, microwave and hot water kettle. Location couldn't be better with what would be a 15-20 minute walk to central plaza old town, which is very walkable. Slow walk due to easy uphill walk with many views to cause you to take many photos. Good selection of typical Spanish foods in the old town. Bus 71 at gate will take you up to overlooking points for photos of Toledo. Cathedral is a must see with accompanying free audio. This is beautiful 2-3 night stay or an easy 20 minute train ride from Madrid for an overnight stay and late train back to Madrid. Staff is friendly and cooperative with any problems or directions.

The hotel itself was nice, especially the foyer - really spacious and decorated nicely. However our room didn't really match this. The room was in the basement so it felt really stuffy and dark. There was one window in the bathroom and room but it faced an interior patio (like a riad) so not much light and air was let in. Our room had a 'painted' window opposite our bed which we thought was hunerous. I might stay again if the room wasn't in the basement.

Beautiful building, near so many historial places.

For a hostal, this was one of my favourite stays throughout Europe. Sure it didn’t have a bar fridge but the room was well sized and had great views, a short walk to the parks and two of the historical city gates.
Staff were fabulous and rhe breakfast buffet was a great variety of fruits, cereal, breads, meats, quiche, etc.

Great location for access to the old town of Toledo. The old town is quite hilly, but full of interesting streets and alleyways. There are far too many shops selling the usual touristy gim-cracks. The breakfast was one of the better in the trip. The beds were hard. The entrance was down ten to thirteen stairs before you got to the door. The staff was helpful. The room was a little small.

A charming, albeit small place. Rooms were small, or at least cozy, but nice. Staff was charming, but spoke no English. Use your phrase book and they'll work with you. Easy access to old town, 5 minute walk to the bus stop, 10 minute taxi ride to the Train station. A nice Spanish style (cold cuts) breakfast, no tea, lots of coffee and such. They recommended several nearby Tapas bars and dining place within a short walk, all of which we're delightful, and one or two of which are in guide books as we'll. We'd gladly stay again!

Nice, simple instalations but sadly I think I got the worst room.Really not happy with the room. Ask for a room in the first or second floor I oversaw them when they were cleaning and they looked much better than mine.

If you are looking for a clean, basic hostel with character, this is the place. Free Wifi in rooms, helpful staff. Right at the gate of the walled city, about an 8 minute walk up a hill into the city. I would definitely return.

This hotel was so beautiful. The walls throughout the hotel were hand painted and the floor of the lobby was glass tile. The receptionists were very polite and helpful. Breakfast was offered at the hotel for only 4 euro, which was a nice deal. I will definitely stay there again if I ever return to Toledo, Spain!

I stayed here for three weeks and would definitely stay here again when visiting Toledo. The hotel staff was very personal and anxious to be helpful. The interior was thoughtfully decorated and clean. The location at one of the old city gates, while not in the center of Toledo, was convenient to the bus and train stations and was only a 10-minute walk (uphill) to the main square. Wi-fi access worked well. The walls and doors were a little thin, so there was a fair amount of noise on weekends especially, when the hotel filled with tourists. Overall, however, this was an excellent value. I highly recommend this hotel.

Originalmente iríamos a Córdoba pero por el cambio terminamos en Toledo, elegimos el lugar de última hora y la verdad muy bien!!! Todo en el lugar con relación al precio pagado excelente!! Eso sí, llegando en tren aunq veas q está cerca ve en volt porq la subida con maletas está muy pesada… su ubicación excelente… también busquen las escaleras eléctricas… tip. El desayuno muy rico y muy amable el personal. Gracias
