This property is very pretty , I love the installation and the staff was friendly and polite, the only disappointment was there’s no coffee in the rooms, or complimentary coffee , and the restaurant doesn’t open until 8 so we have to get dressed and go to the Oxxo instead of enjoying a cup of coffee in the beautiful poolside terrace , I hope that change and make a package that includes breakfast so we can come back next year, but I do recommend the hotel, is safe and clean

I was forced to leave after one night stay, hotel stolen my money charging for 2 nights as the reservation established first, so I stayed one night and to leave was forced to pay for the 2 nights in my reservation, and they sold my room right away cashing double money for that room

I really like that this hotel utilized the area and the culture to maintain a theme unlike so many hotels that are colorless and bland and you feel like you could be anywhere instead of Mexico. My stay at this hotel enhanced my overall experience in visiting Mexico.

In the heart of Cholula, safe, family friendly!

We loved our stay here! Very close to pyramids and church. It felt secluded yet close walking distance to everything we wanted to see. The hotel staff was very accommodating and helped us get a taxi to airport. Restaurant had a great menu and food was very good. Loved the pool, my 4 young children and husband all enjoyed our stay here!

Beautiful, but needs work

Grounds were beautiful as well as pool area, except the pool wasn't clean. The rooms were nicely designed, but the walls and closets had mold from apparently unsealed spots on roof or walls. Our clothes were damp from staying just one night and smelled like mold. The food was good in the restaurant, but the service was super slow. We waited 20 minutes for service until my husband got up and had to speak to the waiter. Service was worse after that. Breakfast service was great, however.

The hotel is beautiful and has a unique archaeological decor, matching the main attraction of the temple ruins practically across the street. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, especially considering that we spoke very little Spanish. In addition the pool is gorgeous and the food incredible.

Siesta and/or Fiesta in Hacienda Style Hotel

Short walk to pyramid and a hopping eatery/pub lane. Uber service made it easy to explore further out in Puebla as well. Nice, too, to just sit out on patio area by pool and enjoy the temperate weather.

We just stayed one night but that was enough to enjoy the peaceful place and ate at their restaurant which food was delicious!!! It's just across the main Church which is built on top of the largest pyramid of the world! We loved Cholula!

I ended in another hotel. Simply could not stay there. Old, smelly dirt beds, dirt bath. It is the same hotel since the 1980's. All outdated. Worst WiFi ever. Stay away from this hotel.

Great place to stay near the Cholula pyramid

The hotel is very nice. Spanish style building, with a large courtyard and a nice swimming pool (though the water was cold!). The room was small but cozy, with a twin and a full size beds. I had a bit of trouble with the TV remote, but that was no big deal since I wasn't there to watch TV. I'm not sure if the room had A/C as the weather wasn't hot enough to need it. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful with whatever I needed. My only problem was that sound carries in this place. You can hear people talking in the courtyard, people eating at the restaurant, and the music being played out by the pool. This was only a thing on the weekend, when the hotel comes alive with weekend guests. So, bring earplugs if you want to sleep in on the weekend. Aside from this, this hotel is great! Other great reasons to stay here include proximity to the pyramid and the Zocalo de Cholula, as well as many of the local churches and exconvents.

The hotel location is great right next to pyramids and easy walk to both San Andres and San Pedro Cholula. Hotel food is good. Awesome Sunday brunch. Setting is beautiful - garden surrounding pool. Only drawback is bed in first room was too hard as bed was set on cement slab but hotel moved us to a room with better bed at no extra charge.

Very nice hotel and great location

We only stayed a few nights to visit the archeological sites, which is literally across the street!Great location imdeed. Also a very short walk to the center of the town. It was nice to have a pool too. The room was comfortable and clean and the hotel restaurant was nice but huge portions so I am glad we shared. reasonable price and nice bathrooms. Recommended.

Comfortable hotel with a touch of style

The rooms are arranged around a courtyard and swimming pool (which no one was using). On two of my three mornings I enjoyed an excellent breakfast outside. The bedroom was smart but also rustic, with red tiled floor and white stone walls.

Beautiful quiet hotel

My husband and I stayed here for a week during his summer break from school. We loved how beautiful, quiet and peaceful the hotel was, and the price was very reasonable. All of the staff were very nice and helpful. We weren't able to enjoy the pool as the weather was a little on the cool and rainy side during our visit, but it was lovely to sit next to it and read. The WiFi service was not good in our room, but was fine out in the courtyard. The bed itself was fine, but having two sides of it integrated into the wall made it hard for the person sleeping on the inside to get up without disturbing the other person still sleeping. There was a sign in the main lobby that advertised several of the different tourist attractions in Cholula and Puebla, including mountain bike rentals and riding, but when we asked the concierge about it, she said there was no place to rent bikes in Cholula and no guiding service. I was disappointed by that, but we found other things to do. Overall, this hotel is a great value and we would stay here again.

Hotel close to ruins... so?

Hotel was way run down. Shower rod rusty all the way, the lamp shade sported a perfectly sprayed edge and last but not least.... there was a one inch hole in one shower towel.
All that, I could stand (really) but neither in-room air conditioning nor a plain fan??
They told us it's usually cold in Cholula/Puebla.
It's not so much anymore... (climate change?)
We needed a pressing iron, which was not available in the room,but immediately at the reception, provided you go get it.
While at it.. we asked for a fan which the lady in charge said there was none available.
A little later I called the reception to ask again for a fan, room was way warm. This time the gentleman in charge said there were no fans but he manged to find and send one to our room. A big, super noisy (taken from an office, maybe) yet super efficient fan!
The guy in charge resolved the matter accordingly, kudos to him.
This was Saturday July 11, 2014, at around 10 pm
The room was overall comfortable and that's why I would recommend this hotel, they still hold the ambience from when they were owned (still are? Not sure if it still exists...?) by Club Med.
They should work on those little details for they're not the only 3-star (or more) hotel in the area anymore, like they were back in the 80's

Villas Archeologicas by far the best

This hotel and every one of these Villas Archeologicas are my favorite in Mexico. This place is very clean and beyond safe. Theres also a mini strip of drinking joints next door that are also safe and mello. Lots of loose dogs wandering around though. (I saw them doing some scratching so stay away) Parking is included in a lot that closes it's gate at eleven. The rooms surround a really sweet courtyard with a small but nice swimming pool. One downside is the beds ain't the softest and are in these kind of porticos that person six foot plus may be annoyed with. Didn't bother me but some may not dig it. Excellent restaurant and the staff are very helpful and always polite. I don't care if this sounds like a bogus reveiw but for the money these hotels are always the closest to the ancient Mexican sites. Totally the one to stay at.

My fourth visit, and planning my fifth

I've stayed here four times over the last six years, and I can't say enough good about this hotel. It's beautiful, affordable, and within easy walking distance from downtown Cholula. It's also a quick, easy drive to Puebla. And there's some real hidden beauty in non-downtown Cholula, where art students have made some of the most beautiful \"graffiti\" I've ever seen. It's like a driving art installation. I can't recommend this hotel enough!

Where to start.. There was a problem with the reservation I made. I had paid in advance through Hotels.com but the hotel did not see it in their system and wanted me to pay again! A 20 minute phone call to Hotels.com however fixed it and it was fine after.

The hotel grounds are beautiful. And walking around gave me a nice relaxing feeling. There is a pool in the courtyard that looked real inviting, but it was unheated and I would had been crazy to jump in during the middle of winter.

The room they gave me was small and segmented so into little cubby holes, one for each of the beds, another for the desk. The bathroom as well. It's the kind of layout I would have loved as a kid, but as an adult I think I prefer things a little more open. Still, it was maintained very well and if nothing else was a lot more interesting than other typical hotel rooms.

Wifi worked well throughout the complex and at the desk in my room, but not in the bed a few feet away. I suspect the compartmented nature of the room with all the heavy walls probably reakef Havoc with the signal.

The shower was pretty nice with modern hardware and the water was almost instantly hot which is a lot more than I can say for other hotels.

The location was okay. Besides the pyramid which was about a 5-10 min walk there was not much in the area and the streets are dark at night and not too pedestrian friendly. Central Cholula with most of the businesses is on the far side of the pyramid and about a 10-15 min walk.

I found other hotels in Central that advertised a lower walk up rate, than what I found online, but they were not as nice.

I'd be likely to stay here again if the price is a little lower next time, or they could offer a larger room for the same price.

It is very nice hotel very relaxing, greta view of the church on top of the pyramid, the bar excellent service very friendly guys and the servers too, the only thing they do need to upgrade is the TV for flat screen and also the mattress they need better ones and I believe will be a 4-5 star place to stay

Charming Villa

Visiting Puebla for a tournament and booked Villa Arqueologica based on photos and reviews. Charming place, comfortable room, homey touches. Cholula is a nice city, the people are friendly and we visited during festival time, so we got to participate in several church festivals. Only downside to our stay was the afternoon rain storms (and drop in temperature), which came just about every day by 5pm - because we were out most of the day, only to return in the evening, we never got to take advantage of the warm afternoon (before it rained) and the beautiful pool.

OK hotel for the value

Its a very nice hotel in the middle of Cholula and next to the pyramid. The room is not that big but they are nice. They don't believe in AC so don't expect one! What can I say about the bed?... OMG! hard as a rock! The staff is very friendly. I would stay here again since the price of the room is not as expensive as some of the other hotels in the area

A nice hotel

We stayed at this hotel for three nights and quite enjoyed it and Cholula. The hotel is located on the other side of the pyramid from town, but it was a pleasant walk to the zocolo and the mercado in one direction and Container City in another. The view of the pyramid was stunning and worth the climb. The hotel was very clean and most of the staff were very professional. The restaurant staff took a while to come around and service improved over the course of our stay. However, Jesus, the maitre'd, was outstanding and we would have enjoyed spending more time talking to him and getting to know him better. Although there were reviews elsewhere that complained about the comfort of the beds, it must depend on which room because ours were great! The walls are a little thin when the neighbours decided to watch TV at three in the morning at full volume. The hotel is overall lovely, large and very quiet. Rooms are on three sides of a spacious courtyard containing a nice-sized pool. The restaurant and general hotel access are on the fourth side. When we visit Cholula again, we will most likely stay here.

Old world class and not far from the zocalo

The hotel offers an alternative experience to the big chains of hotels so it may not appeal to everyone. However, Cholula is not an sophisticated, urban environment. The hotel offers a genuine authentic Mexican experience to the foreign traveler and nice accommodations for the native business travelers and tourists as well. The restrauant is definitely above average and reasonably priced. Most importantly, the wait staff was very professional while offering genuine Mexican hospitality; likewise for the front desk and security personnel. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

A perfect place to relax

A lovely hotel set in the fascinating town of Cholula. It is literally minutes away from the huge pyramid that dominates the area and easy to find. The hotel is in a delightful building set around a central courtyard with a large swimming pool. My only complaint is that the beds weren't overly-comfortable. I would definitely go back though.

Very nice vacation

This hotel is located close to the Great Pyramid of Cholula, we walked there once or twice a day. It is also located close to the center of town and shopping, all within a mile. The walk was a little dusty but we found no need to rent a car or use a taxi. The Hotel staff was excellent. The food was some of the best we had. The ossobusco was fantastic as was the cheviche de pescado. Would definitely stay there again. The trip by taxi from the airport to the hotel was 230 pesos, about $20.00.

A really beautiful hotel

Stayed here for two nights in May 2011. The hotel was great. Clean, comfortable, food was fantastic. Our room looked out onto an archaeological plaza and it was very peaceful. A former club Med and the hotel manager stated that they had big ideas for the place. (He even asked me to write a written review to submit to the corporate office.) It is a bit off the beaten path, but the hotel arranged for an all day taxi (very reasonably priced) to take us to additional archaeological sites we wanted to visit. The town center (about 2 blocks away) was filled with tiny restaurants and tiendas. The people in the town were very friendly and happy to see tourists. My husband and I were very comfortable there. It was quiet and enjoyable to sit by the pool and enjoy some drinks. Good service was the key -- after coming and going, it was nice to look at the servers and they remembered what you drank and brought it to you. After having traveled from noisy Mexico City, it was a luxurious break!

Loved the authenticity

This was our first stay at this hotel. We were very impressed with the cleanliness, the charm and the \"real\" Mexican experience. It was close to the Pyramid, downtown, and the track! We would walk to the track every morning and do a bit of exercise, then go to La Lunita for breakfast (much less expensive than the hotel, although we ate at the hotel many times for convenience). The pool was small, but it was perfect for the amount of guests staying at the hotel. The staff waited on us like we were royalty! We are going to stay there whenever we visit Cholula.

Bring ear plugs because there isn't any AC and you need to keep the window open for the cool air. The dogs bark and there are fireworks during the holidays.

Nice quiet location, pool was beautiful

We stayed at the Villas April 25-29th and had a very pleasant experience. It was close to several cute \"townships\" - San Pedro de Cholula and San Andreas de Cholula, and the ruins across the street were incredible. Rooms were clean and cute, beds were hard by American standards but we slept well. The pool was a great place to relax, and the Wi-fi worked perfectly on my I-phone.

Arqueological Villas, Cholula, a great location to visit Puebla and learn Mayan cultue

At the reception of the hotel or in the room, there is no information available about the two Cholulas...or how to find places where to eat near by or how to go to Puebla using public transportation...The public transprtation is located about 15 minutes walking from the hotel and it cost about US$0.75 the trip to a terminal just out of the Historical Center of Puebla. The food at the hotel was no particularly good and rather expensive. Puebla has a rich culinary cousine and rather close to the hotel accross the Zocalo of San Andres Cholula there is a clean, good and unexpensive restaurant. Yes, Mexican have their lunch from 2PM to 4PM...and they tend to have a rather heavy breakfast.

Puebla is a beautiful place to visit and enjoy...yes...Visit to the church and piramide accross the hotel is also a must but give at least two or three days to enjoy the variety of beautiful things around Puebla..

Quiet and convenient location for those who want to see Cholula/Puebla

The location was great - 5-10 minute walk to the Catedral de Cholula and the center. The room was very clean and cozy. Towels/sheets were changed daily. The personnel at the reception was helpful, but it should be noted that a basic level of Spanish would be greatly advantageous and much appreciated by the staff. Although we did not check out the pool or the restaurant, both looked very presentable. We had had a plumbing incident that was fixed that day. It was somewhat difficult to explain the location to drivers. Make sure to indicate that it is in San Andres Cholula and to carry a map of the area, if you can.

Wonderful place!

The staff were wonderful. When the woman changing the room sheets noticed I was working at an outside table (in a very beautiful alcove), she took the initiative to move a beautiful desk and chair into my room so I could work in my room. Everybody was helpful. The hotel is so close to the zócalo (plaza) and cathedral that I was almost inside the cathedral grounds! The furniture is exquisite, and this was the most comfortable bed I have ever had in Mexico. Lots of towels, pillows, etc. It is a gorgeous building (I guess it used to be the Italian consulate.) I highly recommend this hotel on every account.

Great place to relax and enjoy the world at your frnt steps

I first was introduced to Villas Arqueologicas almost 30 years ago, I am pleased to see that it remains with the same concept, simplicity but charm, this is not a luxury hotel or spa, but a small place in the country close to the Arqueological sight, the Gran Piramide de Cholula, so you go there to enjoy the views and the Pyramid, in addition there is a short walk, maybe 20 minutes walk, to the town that is also full of charm, simple not fancy stores, or malls, no supermarkets or tall buildings, just a simple town with many churches and a Zocalo, main square, like probably it was at least 100 + years ago. The Hotel has a nice court yard, tennis courts and a small pool; rooms are small but unique and comfortable, in the morning you can hear the bells of the churches ringing, birds chirping, and one in a while a rooster crocking; you come to this place to relax and walk around, at night the view of the Virgen de los Remedios church at the top of the Pyramids is lit up and magnificent. If you stay in this Hotel enjoy Cholula, if you want to visit Puebla then stay in Puebla.

Great authentic Mexican hotel

Loved the hotel, very authentic Mexican hotel. The only thing I didn't like was the noise from the firecrackers all day and all night long along with the church bells from the church right across the street. We also could have used a fan at night...no air conditioning, but they didn't have a fan. The room was very clean and the hotel is kept very nice.

plan ahead , what you are up to

hotel pictures are deceving , for one the std room is crowded with two beds , no choice ! the web page shows rooms with air condition , is false NO AIR ,the 'featured pool' is dirty and just big enough for kids , the location sucks, unless you have a car or just want to hang around the hotel, you'll be waking on the hiway , the hotel's restaurant is very expensive , only good thing is the Piramid is accross the hiway , rigth there !

Very nice... but very hot rooms.

Nice hotel. Old but clean. Great restaurant. Only problem: rooms don't have air conditioned or fans, only a heater; if you go in summer, room can become VERY hot even in a cool night. I stayed in room 229 mid May 2009; the whole area was very hot. Stay away from it. I don't know if it's the same heat in other rooms on a different orientation.
Would I return to this hotel? YES.

En general nuestra experiencia fue muy buena.
El personal del hotel es muy amable y dispuestos a ayudarte.
No consumimos alimentos dentro del hotel, pero lo que podemos decir es que está cerca de lugares muy ricos para comer y tomar un trago.
O desayunar muy completo.

El único detalle es que las habitaciones suelen ser muy oscuras, con poca luz natural y las lámparas/focos internas no ayudan mucho a la iluminación general.

Regresaríamos sin duda. .

las habitaciones estan muy descuidadas, el servicio de agua en la regadera y en el lavamanos cae muy poca y lo peor de todo es que el colchon estaba mega incomodo, no se duerme nada bien, el costo del hotel no esta a la altura de lo que se ofrece

Muy ruidoso. Buen hotel.

Hubo una fiesta de pueblo y la música sonó a todo volumen hasta las 3am. A las 6am empezaron los cuetes.
La gente del hotel súper amable, excelente desayuno y buenas instalaciones.

No nos pudimos bañar porque no tenían agua, la tele es muy pequeña, el control remoto nos lo dieron solo con una pila, la caja de fuerte no servía. Por la mañana se escucha mucho ruido del restaurante en la habitación ya no se puede dormir

Las habitaciones son muy chicas. Está accesible hacia para ir caminando al centro de Cholula y hacia la zona arqueológica. A veces organizan eventos en sus jardines y es muy ruidosa, si van en plan de descanso no sería la opción más adecuada .

Muy mal ese hotel. No conozco otros en la zona, no se si hay competencia o si es el único disponible.

Las habitaciones muy obscuras y chicas, el colchón malísimo. Por lo menos el baño era bueno!

Servicio mediano. No regresaría a menos que fuera necesario.
