A hotel that actually fits its five star rating. Excellent quality accommodation, rooms and common areas. Can select from a wide range of breakfast buffet options. Most noticeable was the excellent customer service, prompt responses to requests and amazingly friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely look to stay again.

One of the best hotels that I’ve stayed in Jakarta. Clean and spacious room with exceptionally polite and efficient staff. Special mention to the lobby lounge which has a proper smoking room which you don’t see much these days!….highly recommended, will definitely be back again!

Hotel in need of refurbishment

The cleanlines of the carpet is lacking especially at the corners. Some part of the corridor's aircon is not working . Was bitten by mosquitoes on 2nd night stay , the cleaners might have left the door open when making the room thus enables the mosquitoes to fly in. The standard of the sunday brunch in the Cafe Gran Via has gone down over the past years.if not for the grilled beef, the rest of the standard is not up to par.

I have stayed enough times at this hotel to feel as though it really is a home away from home. I love how the team here recognize me and service is professional, warm and welcoming. Just back from Java and it was bliss to experience the lovely cool, white, crisp bed linen and the enormous bath towels which I always love at this hotel. But the cream that rises to the top here is how wonderful the team is and how they always care for me - it will be hard to go back to reality!

Enterring to the room has smoke smell. and also electronic curtain didn't work, need to wait for 30 mins and fix another 30 mins in order to move up curtain.

Very good staff that is quite helpful. The rooms are very large. The room service from the on site restaurants is better than I expected. I would consider staying here again, however - as others have pointed out the hotel is out dated and the flooring is needing to be replaced.

Comfortable place! The hallway can be a bit spooky but the interior of the room is clean. The interior furniture is a bit old fashion but the room is spacious. Breakfast variety is extensive. If you are ordering food in, make sure you tell the driver where to meet you as the hotel has a couple of entrances. Will rebook for business if the price is right :)

The main dining area and room service was awesome. Generally every area, including the room and gym was well kept supported by friendly staff. It allowed my short stay to be quite enjoyable. Encountered a lot of traffic on the roads outside, which is understandable, being in the city

Hotel needs some maintenance & cleaning.

Hotel needs some maintenance. I noted this in my check in review and the hotel claimed they addressed it with me but never reached out. I included some pictures of the mold around the sink, dirty shower stall, cracked wall paper, dirty AC vent, and the toilet flush the comes off. Hope this is a little clearer to the management. All of this is from my room.

Nice hotel, but service could have been better. They couldn't give us a room with one king size bed, so my wife and I ended up having two smaller beds which was the first in years. Also, the breakfast buffet didn't have many items suitable for vegetarians which was disappointing in this day and age. The employees in the breakfast buffet area should learn to speak better English and become more familiar with vegetarian foods.

Overall the hotel is nice however the breakfast was disappointing. Food selection mediocre, some foods are cold when it supposed to be warm and they only replenish everything once it was finished, not before that and guess have to wait in order to get the food. The service at the coffee house also very bad, feels like at 4 stars hotel rather than at 5 stars deluxe hotel.

Shocking experience!

The service at Gran Amelia was good. The shocking aspect of the stay was when I discovered an unauthorised payment was made from my credit card for a breakfast which the hotel forgot to charge me. As soon as I heard about the under charge, I emailed them to advise them to revise the invoice which did not include a 20% discount. When I received the revised invoice, I contacted Gran Melia to pay for the under charged breakfast, the duty manager advised me that they had debited my credit card without my prior authorisation! Technically, this action is illegal!

Terrible experience

It was my horrible stay at Jakarta, I don’t believe it deserves 5 star.
On the arrival date, my hotel room was not ready for check in, however staff didn’t show me any apologies, instead, they gave me millions of excuses.
After check in, I found some amenities had not been replaced.
During my stay, I was so annoyed with so disgusting smell of sewage, I was like in a dirty swamp.
To sum up,
-Sloppy make-up
-Terribly stinky sewage
-Stubborn & not flexible staff

This was a very nice hotel close to the office I worked in.
Staff were friendly and soon acknowledged me by name.
Nearby streets in Patraland were safe for running on in the weekends, and the gym was well appointed.
Food was great. However, there were no nearby external restaurants without a taxi ride.
I would stay here again.

The hotel itself is great. Room, restaurant, gym, spa, pool... all are good enough.

The only thing need to be mentioned is the traffic, I think this is due to the construction site just outside the main entrance of the hotel.

Nice hotel in Kuningan area.

Stayed one night in week end. Had a pleasant stay and also a good dinned at the hotel restaurant.
Located near offices, embassies, and residential areas, but a bit far to markets or shopping areas.
One of best old/established hotels in Jakarta. The room is spacious, clean, and comfortable. Carpets in corridors might need a renew.

I used to stay there many times over the years but this time I noticed the need for renovation and remodeling. The room are still nice but old.
The toilet is still the older style with a second bowl for cleanup.

Won't stay there again as other hotela are much better

Great business hotel but beware of WiFi

The year is 2016 and most business hotels are required to have decent Wifi. The \"free\" Wifi is just a shade short of awful (can barely load a text only email) so we are forced to pay a hefty premium for their Wifi \"upgrade\". No one likes surprises and this wasn't a happy one.

The hotel is large with architecture designed to impress. The service isn't good: asked for water, got something sweet; took 3 attempts to actually get water; dirty plates not cleared from the table.

Apparently the Indonesian government no longer allows hotels to exchange currency. In the long explanation of this situation the front desk clerk failed to mention the 3 ATM's on the ground floor.

The hotel is refurbishing but there is still a musty mildew odor permeating public spaces.

The Japanese restaurant looked promising but the Unagi was rubbery and pickles oddly fishy.

The hotel car to the airport was 4X Uber rates.

New Year Break in Jakarta

Wonderful hotel with excellent restaurants onsite and very nicely decorated for Christmas/New Year. Friendly staff overall and didn't have to wait for a taxi outside as there was always one there. Disappointed that there was no movie channel or a TV guide to what was coming on (what to watch whilst having breakfast in bed!). On that point room service was very prompt to. Was a little frustrated at how long I had to wait for check in for no-one was controlling who was next in line.

Service is no good

Service staff has inadequate training. Esp those from the dining area. Staff are seen to be enforcing the \"no taking away of food from the breakfast area\" and gives you weird stares when you pour your juice multiple times from the fruit juice glass (since the glass is so small, filling it up and drinking a few cups is perfectly normal!)

There were also mosquitos having their meal at the breakfast/dining area as well.

Hotel cards also fail intermittently which means that you can be locked out of the room if you are not careful. Staff told me that I must have placed my card near magnetic fields, which I did not. No word of apology and a straight face was maintained.
