The hotel was very clean and the rooms cleaned every day. The staff were friendly, polite and knowledgeable.
We stayed in a port view suite and did not know the position of the hotel so we're disappointed that we couldn't see the port as there were buildings in front and we looked out at the casino.

The hotel couldn’t be in a better location - it has the marina on one side and the sea on the other. The view is amazing!
The staff are all very friendly and super helpful.
We used the spa and did the ‘spa circuit’ and it was perfect for the price.

Great location. Don't go half board if you're expecting a buffet. There's a limited menu and service is slow even when quiet so factor in minimum of 2 hours for dinner. If you're a picky eater, go bed and breakfast or check menu beforehand. I enjoyed breakfast however if a hot breakfast is a must then be mindful that even the hot section is not hot. Factor in a minimum of 2 hours for dinner if you do decide to go half board. Air conditioning in our room wasn't working even after it was meant to be fixed so was difficult to sleep. Personally I was disappointed overall in this Melia hotel as I was comparing it to the one in Torremolinos which was amazing in every way. With hindsight I would have booked the Melia Alicante which was next door. The Innside is definitely a downgrade

Not the best rooms on the 1st floor broken toliet seat and no milk and coffee powdered milk and mint tea sachets). Rooms are looking tired and walkways. Was this really part of the Melia name?
Staff were excellent though and as it was a short break wasn't worth moving second night. Often happens when you book though a third party site( not direct) you get poor rooms I was told. Breakfast was good. There is a proper Melia next door.

The breakfast was very poor. There was hardly anywhere to sit and the food was awful. The hot buffet was lukewarm and poorly stocked, no glasses for orange juice, coffee machines out of beans and overall a bad experience. Rooms felt quite basic, there wasn’t any way to cool them so we slept for three nights with the balcony door open.

Immaculate and very modern decor throughout
Bathroom had walk in shower but this was grotty , the grout was black and mouldy in places which. Although given conplimentary water there was no tea/coffee / milk sachets. No toiletries either , for price we paid very disappointing.

The reception and pool facilities were lovely.As was the breakfast.
The rooms are a little underwhelming and average for the price.
I’m not sure if there was building works, we were below a room that was being refurbished or just had really loud people above us. But it seems that the walls were paper thin and heard a lot of banging.
Our tv also hadn’t been refreshed from the previous occupants and let’s say there was alot of inappropriate material downloaded on it. However once flagged to reception they did offer a complementary 2 hours late check out.
Overall a good stay, and would go back.

We loved the pool area it was amazing. The breakfast was fantistic and we had sea bass for dinner one day it was delicious. The one negative we had, were the fancy drinks we had would never be the same from day to day or staff member. The reception staff was fantastic and helpful every time we had a question. The cleaning staff never stopped working and the place was spotless. We were so happy to leave are luggage there after checkout before our flight a very nice service.

This hotel was a real find! The location of it was fantastic. Right next to the Marina and 10 mins walk into Alicante town which had so many restaurants and bars that were really nice. We had a sea view room and the hotel was so clean and had a relaxing vibe about it. The team there really looked after us. Special shout out to Elena, Lourdes and especially Yamila.

Plenty of lovely spaces within the hotel that lift the overall ambience. There are signs of slight ageing and they are addressing them. The location is unparalleled. The staff friendly and helpful.
The breakfast was poor. Expensive and limited. Albeit in a lovely location. Needs improvement.

Weekend away

We recently enjoyed a short weekend getaway and selected this hotel due to its ideal location. The hotel rooms are spacious and feature a wonderful balcony with a pleasant sea view, effective air conditioning and a quiet environment, free from noise from neighboring rooms or corridors. However, a significant concern was the presence of mold throughout the ceilings.
We did not used the pool areas, it appeared to be quite small and crowded. I visited the restaurant for a snack and a drink, and while the food was fine, the sangria was not particularly enjoyable.
Breakfast was good, with plenty of choice. We had an ealy flight, so hotel packed us a breakfast for take away, which was a thoughtful gesture.

Very nice hotel overlooking ocean with a very hip vibe. Parking is limited and on occasions it can be loud due to patrons no following silence rules. A nice spot with a short walk to the main plaza and many restaurants near by. Beach was just at beginning of pear and hotel provides beach towels if needed

Gorgeous renovations! Beautiful views immediately upon walking up the escalator. Two pools that get shady towards the end of the day so if you couldn't secure an umbrella earlier its okay! The view is unmatched! Rooms were very clean, just make sure to double check for separation of beds before check-in.

The day before arrival I was advised that the entrance was closed and I needed to access through the car park
One of the rooms had a leaking shower that flooded the bathroom, a technician came but failed to fix the problem! For the cost of this stay and the reputation of the Meliá name I am very disappointed with this hotel;

The price for the hotel is absolutely too high for this standard of hotel. The rooms have a minimalist finish, no carpets or rugs. There was a stench from the sewage in the bathroom, and every time we drained the water on the upper floors, the water in our toilet bowl would belch. At the pool, wine is served in glasses (no glasses?). Apart from the location, nothing is worth the price here.

Booked this hotel for the view from the dining area and the closeness to the beach and town. Very clean hotel with good facilities. Afternoon and evening menu not to our liking so ate out. Alicante has plenty of quality near by restaurants and bars along the main walkway and old town area. Lovely location alongside the beach and marina. Sea view rooms all have a small balcony as per photo. Hotel entrance set back from the road so a little difficult to identify. Any issues we had with the room and a request for a mains adapter were dealt with immediately and provided at no charge.

Rooms large and great views but the walls out on balcony looking over sea all peeling.
Breakfast way too crowded, tables not cleaned, piles of plates on tables and no cutlery. Hot food was lukewarm and not a huge amount to choose from, eggs not cooked and scrambled egg tastes like rubber. When I complained I was told it was due to high amounts of people coming at one time which was unusual???? They had one waiter, bless him! Unacceptable for a 4 star hotel. Paid quite a bit extra per room for breakfast, which I def would not do again. Like I said rooms were lovely but extremely noisy when door open to balcony, and still heard quite a lot when closed, had to wear ear plugs!

I really struggle to see how this hotel qualifies as a 4*. From the 70’s style lobby through a rusty entrance, the strange scent of ammonia and throughout the downstairs area it all just feels really, tired. The check in staff were nice enough, the cleaning and restaurant staff were lovely and the room is fine, huge bed and smart TV, decent minibar and snacks, but if you choose a port view I’d say you need to be on floor 5 and above to actually see anything. The bathroom was clean but old and grubby grout etc. but the very worst thing was how thin the ceilings were - our second morning I could hear the room above being cleaned/ chatting as if I was in there with them. The bar has a lovely view of the sea and if you’re just using it to sleep here there then have breakfast - fits the bill.

A bit more attention could be paid to the cleanliness as there were areas of slight mould in various area of the bathroom and some drinks marks left on the bedside cabinet. Other than that, the views from our sea view room were spectacular. The area was lovely based right in the middle of the beach and the port. Staff were very welcoming and attentive. One thing I did notice was the noise. The walls of the rooms are really thin and you can here everything by from the room next door or people in the hallway.

Superb hotel, excellent location.

This is our second stay at the Spa Porta Maris and I'm sure we will be back. The location by the harbour with wonderful views of the marina and out to sea are hard to beat. It is also very convenient for the beach and the bars and restaurants. All this and it is still only a ten minute walk to the main shopping centre. The best thing of all are the ever helpful friendly staff who always do everything they can to ensure your stay is enjoyable and hassle free. I must also give a special mention to the cleaning staff; every area of the hotel is spotless and the room cleaniness is the best I have experienced anywhere in the world. The hotel sets itself a very high standard and the staff make it happen. Thank you for another wonderful stay.

Hotel was beautiful. I was there in winter and it was amazing for touring Alicante. The ocean was not warm enough to swim, except if you had a wetsuit. Alicante is very walkable. Great views of thr castillo. Hot tub was not working during my stay. Close to lots of restaurants.
