The people working at the hotel are all amazing and exceptional! Shout out to the guy who checked us in , Beatriz in the breakfast buffet is very nice ! The food is delicious, with the fresh squeezed orange juice and champagne, organic eggs , real honey and the coffee is delicious. We totally enjoyed every morning breakfast , also to Marcelo during our dinner is very nice , personable and very helpful. The dinner is absolutely delicious and he gave a good portion of salad , entree and delicious dessert . We had a lovely stay in your beautiful hotel .

The hotel was beautiful, but the staff were not nice. The elevator was broken, there was no iron in the room and when I called to the desk for one I was told to come and get it if I want to use it because no one will bring it to me. Very rude and standoffish demeanor. Then I was told there was free water in the room and when I tried to take it with me I was told I could not because they re-use the bottles (DISGUSTING). It was very close to shops and souvenirs and all the other popular attractions in Barcelona but I would never stay there again.

We loved this hotel. It's beautiful, rooms are big and the pool area is very nice. The hotel is a 3 min walk to La Rambla and the food market. Great area. I found the staff to be pleasant and helpful. Highly recommend. We could also walk 5 mins to a self serve laudomat and got our laundry done cheaply and fast.

The staff were all very helpful and a pleasure. We are from the US and speak English and communication was very good. It is an old renovated palace that didn't feel old but gave you the feel of being in Spain.

We stayed in the suite which is on the 4th floor and accessed on the rooftop. If you walk around the rooftop you will see some city views but it was hard to see down to the city streets. The suite was very nice, updated and clean. It is 2 levels. On the main level is a living area (with TV) and bathroom. The bathroom was updated with a big shower. There are narrow stairs that go up to the bedroom where there is a king size bed and a 2nd tv. Our only disappointment was there were no good views of the city or city streets from the suite and also having the bathroom on a different level than the bedroom for getting up at night.

The location for the hotel was excellent. The street the hotel is on is a bustling pedestrian-only avenue (some local cars and taxi's do venture down.) You are within minutes walking distance to the Plaza Catalunya (w/ Metro) and the Gothic Quarter with tons of restaurants and shopping.

Stayed three nights with my girlfriend. Room was exceptional. We had a balcony overlooking the street. The street was very busy throughout the day, but noise wasn’t an issue. Location was fantastic for shopping and close to metro stations. Staff was very helpful and room was very clean. Would definitely stay here again

A fabulous and affordable location in Barcelona - if you want to be in the thick of shopping, near the port and gothic quarter. Hotel staff are wonderful! Helpful, friendly and kind. Hopefully you like small elevators, as the stairways need a lot of work and are risky to use. They were probably beautiful back in the day, but they’re worn and lots of tiles are missing from the steps making them uneven. The bar, coffee and breakfast are delicious!! Definitely worth the price!

After looking at a few different hotels in a number of areas we decided on the Catalonia Portal de l'Angel and we couldn't have been happier! From pre-check-in and communication all the way until checkout everyone was professional, courteous, helpful for questions, and made for the perfect stay for my wife and I for the week that we were in Barcelona.

The rooms were extremely clean. The outlets were great and they had USB A and C on both sides of the bed in addition to ones for the main desk. Wifi worked great, we loved the patio/terrace outside, and they had an amazing breakfast buffet (you have to checkout the fresh orange juice maker) and the price is very good for everything you get.

Location was perfect. It's right on a pedestrian/waking street. Take a left out the door, and after the pedestrian street, you are right on Passeig de Gràcia. Easy walks to Casa Batlló and Casa Milà in about 10/15 minutes. Lots of shops and restaurants. Take a right and you are a few minutes from the Barcelona Cathedral , Pont del Bisbe, and Plaça Reial. Also walked to great restaurants like Ciutat Comtal, Seoul Nadri, the Egg Lab, as well as many other little wonderful shops and tiendas and La Boqueria. Block away from metro and taxis.

We had looked at staying close to the Sagrada Familia and on La Rambla. Lots of construction on La Rambla and not as quaint or central by Sagrada.

Highly recommend this wonderful hotel!

What a perfect blend of old historical beauty and modern convenience. The staff is welcoming and helpful and the location can't be beat. Located on the outskirts of the old Gothic quarter it is also just a short block from the main city square where you can catch the subway, a taxi or any of the Hop On Hop Off buses. I loved my terrace overlooking the pool and courtyard. Only thing that I would've preferred was an English language TV channel other than the news.,

The service, cleanliness, and attitude of the staff were all very good. There was a noise issue in the room whose source we could not identify. I am not sure whether it was coming from the construction site next to the hotel.

Our request to change the room we stayed in on the first night due to the noise was immediately accepted. We were very pleased with their understanding and quick response regarding this matter.

In terms of location, I believe this hotel was the right choice, as it is within walking distance of many key places.

The staff here is outstanding! The front desk staff is very welcoming and personable. The staff in the bar offer the best coffee and drinks that I had while in Barcelona. The hotel rooms are very comfortable and clean- housekeeping ensures everything in the room to make your stay enjoyable. I highly recommend.

Room was run down and needs attention:

1. Shower door opens inwards and is parallel to the the toilet.
2. shower gel holder needs replacing - keeps falling falling off
3. Chipped tiles which causes a hazard if walking bare feet - henced i asked for slippers but was told by staff they are only available for \"delux or superior rooms\"

Receptionists were not the friendliest especially the afternoon/evening receptionists.

Overall it’s anOK hotel. Definitely doesn’t deserve the ratings that it has. There are much better hotels around. Price was very high due to conference which makes almost 2 star price performance .

It’s in city center. If you are looking for quick in and out of Barcelona for travels then I getting a taxi takes time. If you have bulky luggage the uber/hired taxis doesn’t go to the front door and you have to walk a good 300 meters .

Rooms conditions and quality of sleep (not so comfortable mattresses - already lost shape ) not so good.

Breakfast good like any other bootique hotels in Barcelona .

We purchased our room 30 days prior to our trip. Big surprise arriving when the manager said ,We don’t have a room ,and he has different hotel for Us. Means that He sold Our room for better price. Smart hotel in an atmospheric old building. Room was spacious and clean. The balcony was a nice extra and got the sun for most of the afternoon and early evening during a March visit. Breakfast buffet was fine but nothing extraordinary but the variety was good.
Hotel is in a good location for the Gothic Quarter and most other neighbourhoods are within walking distance.
Staff were friendly and welcoming and the requests that we made were sorted without any fuss.

Check-in was permitted early which was SO appreciated. Concierge offered every service we could have wanted including advice on tours. I wish I had waited until checking in to book tours around Barcelona. I booked and paid for three tours two weeks earlier through Get Your Guide, and every one of those tours was rebooked to a time conflicting with another tour. Breakfasts at the hotel were great- fortified us for full days of touristing.

Overall this was an excellent experience. The staff was very helpful and the hotel was clean and well kept. If you have mobility issues be aware that the bathroom has a tub with shower that is difficult to enter. Also, the location is fantastic, however, the street is blocked to most traffic so you can not have Uber or Lyft drop you off or pick you up at the hotel. Highly recommended..

The hotel service was amazing from check-in to check-out. Great staff that is always available to guide and answer questions, making the experience memorable. In addition, the location was just perfect, with a 5-10 minute walk to all the primary sites. The only challenge was the parking, so if you are renting a car, make sure you find a good, long-term, and affordable parking garage.

The location is excellent. Walking distance to all major museums in the Gothic Quarter, the historic markets, the Cathedal. Very close to the Eixample, Las Ramblas, Plaza Catalunya. All the staff members were very friendly. The breakfast is a major highlight: excellent selection, fresh and healthy options, some gluten free choices as well.
The room is on a small side, but was enough for the two of us. In sum, highly recommended.

Although the staff were polite they were not over friendly.
The balcony over looked the main street but no space for table and chairs to be able to sit outside.
We had an issue with a cracked sink which we mentioned to the staff as my wife was concerned about possible bacteria problems. They obviously could not replace it and was not offered an alternative room.
