Room was very clean and bathroom was spacious. 2 pillows, shampoo and conditioner would be appreciated. My room was on the second floor along with the reception desk. It was noisy at check out in the morning and at check-in at night. I wouldn't recommend a room on that floor. Very close to Liceu metro and walking distance to the Ramblas. I felt quite safe as there seems to always be people around. I saw many security people out at night patrolling the streets. Good value for money.

This is more a hostel than a hotel. Sound insulation between rooms is nil so it's luck of the draw whether you have quiet neighbours or not. The rooms are v basic. Mine had a kettle but no tea/coffee/anything so bring your own.
Bed was OK, location superb and price decent but more expensive for Friday & Saturday night.
It's a bit of a pain to have to give the key at reception each time you leave but the staff was nice.
So in summary, great location, OK room, bring earplugs.

Great location in the Gothic Quarter but the room is in a hostel which although quiet itself, lacks sound proofing and is above some very loud restaurants / streets with people screaming until 2AM / rubbish trucks coming through at midnight. The room was very basic (lacked even a spoon to mix coffee, any coffee or tea sachets, no fridge etc and bathroom was functional but not super clean or modern). Beds were not the greatest but not as hard as some we've encountered in Spain.

All staff were freindly enough (24hr reception) but wanted to keep the room key when we went out (which we didn't like the idea of as we had our laptop in the room).

I had a great stay at Hostal Levante. The location is perfect—right in the Gothic Quarter, close to everything but still quiet enough to rest comfortably. The host was very helpful and made the check-in process smooth. My room was clean, comfortable, and exactly what I needed after long days exploring Barcelona. Overall, an excellent experience. I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed for 3 nights — very close to the city centre, only about a 5–6 minute walk to Metro L3. The room was clean and reasonably priced. The only downside might be that the soundproofing wasn’t very good, but it’s not an issue for me.

On our last night, they set the air conditioning to only heat, and it was so hot that we only slept for three hours. The gentleman at reception just said there was nothing he could do. They also brought stained and very old towels.

Great location in the gothic quarter, just a short walk to La Rambla . Don’t be put off by the basic entrance . It’s an interesting layout inside to access your room & reception .
.
Lovely clean & adequate sized room with a decent sized good hot shower. Great view from our balcony & extra mini balcony of the street below & life around . ( no balcony furniture however) . The old sliding door was stiff to open but it was secured & sound proofed well enough with an internal newer extra one !

We were very happy with our choice .
.
Don’t expect all the extras , it is a 2 star property remember , for amenities.included .
A kettle & cups are provided ( however you’ll need to bring / buy your own coffee/ tea / creamer ) There isn’t a mini fridge .

We both said we would stay there again as it’s more affordable than some & good quality & is clean !

24hr reception staff are friendly & there is a bottled water machine 1€ for when you arrive or run out when shops are closed .

Definitely visit the restaurant La CERERIA , diagonally opposite the Levante entrance ( It was hidden away by metal shutters in the daytime ( October) !
Best meal we had & lovely atmosphere & friendly waitress .
Wish we’d tried it earlier :)

Clean but tiny room. Shower is very small that if you stretch your arms, you will hit the shower walls. The location is very convenient, walkable to many places. Loud bangs when other people shutting their rooms' doors. Overall, it's not a fancy but good budget hotel.

We came here after a 14 day Transatlantic cruise, a bit tired after backpacking from the port. To our delight, our room was ready very early. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The room is clean and very adequate. Bathroom and shower are great. We really enjoyed the view down on the Gothic Quarter, and that the window opens for sone fresh air! Air-conditioning worked well, too. There is an elevator if you need one, but we enjoyed walking up and down the stairs. We felt very welcome and safe. Restaurants, cafes, shops and markets are plentiful. We enjoyed our stay in Hostal Levante!

Wanted a good value, well located place to stay in Barcelona with a private bathroom - this place was perfect.

Could not argue with the price, clean and functional room. This isn't luxury - it's basic and functional and done extremely well.

There is a safe in the room and the air con was extremely effective and very much weclomed during summer heat wave! Though finding a balance on not too cold was a struggle for me haha. but much needed air con is always welcomed!

there is a kettle for refreshments before you head out for the day. There is no tv in the room but not needed if you are out and about.

The location is just a few minutes walk from La Rambla and easy to reach several metro stations. It can be a bit of a maze around there, but once you've found it, you're sorted.

the 24 hour front desk is brilliant for if you arrive early or late, and you can store your luggage there too. All staff I met were friendly and helpful. Couldn't fault them.

The accomdation was full when I was there, so I expecting it to effect noise levels with people coming and going, but i did not experience that. I think with its promixity to a busy area it can be noisy, but i also didnt experience it - but they do provide ear plugs too so be aware of that if you are a light sleeper - i take ear plugs anyway but as i say, i did not experience excessive noise.

overall this was just perfect for what I needed and I'm so glad I picked it!

Left after first night terrible place and service

Air conditioning had not been serviced. A \"clean filter\" warning showed on start up. Management stated they could not service the AC on sat-sun. We were left with no AC and open windows in 28degC. The street noise was huge in the Gothic area of Barcelona until 4am hence the other need for AC and closed windows. So....poor sleep, no AC, no TV and Management who appeared helpless. We do not recommend this hotel.

What a great find this hostel was. So friendly and helpful before and on arrival. Great room with a KETTLE (Brits will get the importance of this!). I had a single room with en-suite shower room and it was perfect as a base for a short break. I was really surprised to find my room had been serviced in my second day - clean sheets and towels - I’ve never known that in a hostel!

A quick one night stay. Not the easiest to find. Don’t be put off by the ‘prison’ feel of the walk ways! Staff friendly. Room clean. Bed comfy. Water pressure in shower good.

Absolute nightmare. People screaming and beating doors at 1:30am. The aircon started suddenly to throw warm air in the middle of the night. There was someone reception but they did not do anything about the noise. It felt very unsafe.

Decent stay for the price. It was a little noisy when the window faced the street, and you could hear all the foot traffic and noise outside. Additionally, the room was comfortable and featured a surprisingly spacious bathroom. The shower pressure was great, the marble floors were sturdy.

One thing I wasn't too happy about was having to give in the key every time you wanted to exit and enter back in the hostel. This added a lot of time to go to the second floor and back to whichever floor you are on.

Clean, decent, ultra budget place!

This ultra budget hotel is located just a four minute walk from La Ramblas in the historic Gothic Quarter! My single room was very small but very clean with a quality safe, A/C, a nice little bathroom and a window with sad views into a tiny, unattractive six story inner court. Very secure, I think this 48 room business was just a part of an old time apartment complex and the 24 hour reception is on the second floor. The door to the street was always locked as was a door at the end of my hall and the door to my room. For me a great inconvenience was always having to leave my key at the front desk every time I went out, and then having to be buzzed in and reclaim my key to return to the room. Although people of all ages seemed to stay there the place really seems more like a Hostal. The friendly staff all seemed to speak English and my room was promptly made up daily with fresh towels. Really the location is excellent and the prices very good for Barcelona. Expect nothing at all fancy and be prepared for clean, very basic, budget accomodation and you will not be disappointed!

Weekend city break in Barcelona

We enjoyed our stay at Hostal Levante. The hotel was well situated: close to all the shops and restaurants around the Las Ramblas area, near to the marina and beach, within walking distance of Montjuic area.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Negatives: on a noisy side street at night, lift was very small - can only fit 2 people plus luggage.

Good location.
Could smell someone smoking. Smell of sewerage from the bathroom all the time.
Lift only to the reception, if you live on a level above, you need to carry luggage by stairs.
Probably woud pay 20-30 €/night more to be more comfy.

This is a no frills basic place to stay in the heart of Barcelona. Simple yet clean. We found the Hostel quite easily yet how to enter was confusing for us. We walked by the entrance several times thinking it was an apartment building. Once we buzzed the door, it unlocked and we walked up the steps to reception. There is also a small elevator you can use. The attendants were very friendly and accommodating. If you are looking for a clean bed to sleep in and a clean restroom with a shower at a low cost in downtown Barcelona then this is the place for you.

Was concerned with staying in a hostal, however this worked out fine. Don't expect a fancy romantic hotel, but for affordability, a good (twin) bed, private bathroom and central location, it fit the need.
Since you are in a central location need to expect it being a bit noisy in the neighborhood, nothing the hostal can control, but they do have earplugs in your room if needed:)

Low price, low expectations. Bring ear plugs as the building is not well insulated and sound travels. If you are not a small person it will be difficult to get into the shower stall. Clean unit! Limited wall outlets. Elevator for the climb up to the third floor. Taxi service from a 5 minute walk to the door. Airport bus shuttle is 15 min walk.

There is no HOT WATER SHOWER in one night, we complained it to the front, there is a guy with pretty bad attitude, saying all the other room has no issue with hot water, why yours, I asked him to check our room, he refused to do so and also told us if we are not happy with service we can leave and stay in somewhere else. Not sure why manager will hire him to the job, but he for sure ruin the reputation of this place.

The property is in an old building but is well maintained. The room is very clean and the staff are friendly. In a good location as well. However, you can hear noises such as toilet flushing or doors banging from the other rooms but that did not really bother me.
