Perfect location in the Gothic Quarter. The staff os AMAZING! Stayed in a Superior room and it was very nice with lots of space, well-equipped and had a small balcony with a beautiful view of the Quarter. If you're a light sleeper you might want to ask for a room away from the street as the Quarter is pretty lively all night long. Not loud...just lively. Loved everything about this hotel!!

The staff was warm and welcoming and happy to help you navigate the city. We didn’t look at the pool/terrace area (visited in Feb). The room was very clean. One minor issue was the “automatic” closet light in our room delayed clicking on by a couple seconds, then clicked off almost as quickly…so it made it a little difficult to see at times. When we needed to stay an extra day they accommodated us quickly and seamlessly. We did not eat in the hotel so cannot comment on the food. You could hear some street noise in the late night, but it wasn’t bad (but again, it was low season). The hotel is a good location…close to restaurants and shops and just a few minutes walk to the Born district (which offers even more restaurants/museums etc) and other tourist sites.

The online description was completely accurate and met or exceeded my expectations. Many people have noted that the hotel is located on a busy square (well Triangle) that can be quite loud in the early morning hours, but that was not an issue for me. The location is fantastic, the room and facilities are top notch and the staff is quite helpful.

Absolutely Horrible Stay. Do Not Book Here.

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and it was the worst experience of my life. On my last day, I discovered that my safe had been tampered with. I had locked it multiple times (I double-check constantly due to OCD), and yet when I went to check out, realized it was open. My $5,000 diamond ring and €1,000 in cash were stolen.

When I reported this to management, they promised to call me back with an update but never did. It’s been over a week, and I’ve heard absolutely nothing. Their response at the time was dismissive and unprofessional — no concern, no investigation, no help. I already posted this review on Google, and the lack of follow-up confirms just how little they care about guests.

On top of that, the hotel itself is the loudest and most chaotic place I’ve ever stayed. Guests were partying outside until 6–7 AM, and walls are paper-thin — you hear everything from other rooms. Sleep is impossible. Even when asking for something as simple as extra coffee pods, staff made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome.

The entire stay gave off a terrible, unsafe energy. Combine that with theft, cold service, and zero accountability, and it’s clear this property is not worth the money or risk. I spent 2.5 weeks in Spain staying at multiple hotels and never once had an issue — only here.

If you value your belongings, your peace of mind, or even the chance of a decent night’s sleep, stay far away from this place.

Good location, excellent and helpful staff. Our room had lots of space and a good shower and bathroom counter to get ready but poor lighting for doing hair/makeup. Having a kitchen area was great and the bed was comfortable with lots of extra cushions. We liked staying in the gothic quarter near las Rambla and walkable to other attractions. Would recommend this historic hotel.

This property checked all the boxes from location to service to amenities to overall quality along with some unexpected special touches.

We arrived early and were so thankful and appreciative of the early check-in. The hotel staff provided thoughtful recommendations throughout our stay. The overall condition of the property and our guestroom was excellent and felt very high-end, thoughtfully curated and luxurious! Highly recommend and will stay here again!

Lovely hotel. However walk or take a taxi. We drove our rented car and the streets are narrow, one way and awkward in many ways. Work on roads in old Barcelona that is inaccurately reflected in Google maps made this substantially worse. Even driving close to drop off luggage was effectively impossible. The location is central to everything but it’s off the busy street. The hotel is absolutely amazing and was more of an apartment with an amazing view! Amazing hotel and location!

The staff were so accomodating, friendly and professional. The hotel was right in the heart of the Gothic Quarter with so much history. There were restaurants, bars, and shops all around in walking distance. In addition, the hotel was a 5 min walk to La Rambla and La Boqueria. The hotel was like a mini apartment and had a stove, large fridge and everything you need to cook dinner in your room, if you wanted to. We were so happy with our choice to stay there.

Sleepless in Arai Aparthotel

The hotel is quaint right in the Gothic quarter. The attendants were pleasant and efficient. The room was clean but the bed was not comfortable. The real problem was that our room faced onto a public square where partying went on until the sun came up. On our last night, Feb. 28, a woman was in the hotel literally screaming for hours. The police were called but the screaming continued. We called the front desk twice. Exhausted, upon check out we asked for some sort of compensation which was not offered. We were told the manager was not in and there has been no effort to contact us. Although it is easy to dismiss requests from international guests, they are not doing themselves any favours. If they had followed up with us, I would not be writing this poor review. So in conclusion, the property is pretty but if your plan is to sleep, choose another place.

Exceptional Aparthotel. Very well equipped, with luxury toiletries (The White Company) hairdryer, fabulous multi function shower. Fridge (minibar) stocked. Complimentary Nespresso coffee and creamer.
Breakfast is boxed to order as an extra cost, so no dining facility, but you are surrounded by many bars and restaurants.
Arai felt safe, room card entry to reception. Staff super helpful and friendly.
Would definitely recommend.

A real gem of a short term apartments stay in the heart of the Gothic quarter in Barcelona. Superb check-in experience and the staff really took care of us during our stay. Lovely hotel in a great location

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel in almost every respect. The room was beautifully decorated, spacious, and light-filled. Everything was immaculate. The staff was helpful and friendly. The kitchen was well-stocked and highly functional. The bed was comfortable, and the shower had great hot water and pressure. Our window opened onto a small, charming square, which was a little noisy at night. Be sure to bring earplugs if you like to go to bed early :-)

We stayed here in a family room for a long weekend and it was great! Everything was as expected from the property apart from the noise from the room above us. The rooms are not sound proofed and you can hear people talking and even walking around. We would return but would stay on floor 5 ensuring no noise!

Nice atmospheric room, good air-conditioning, striking bathroom, good shower pressure. TV has poor selection of English channels. Downside of this hotel is staff. Made initial request for three extra pillows and was told they would be brought up immediately. After three hours and no pillows, made second request. No pillows. Finally, after third request, received pillows. One of only two tiny elevators was working. At busy checkout time, cleaning person with supplies was using only elevator in service. Front desk assured us they could order a taxi that would arrive in the restricted area of the hotel within 15 minutes. When we needed the taxi to get to the port, the hotel said it would be at least 30 minutes and taxi would only do the pickup blocks from the hotel.

The location is great for being in the gothic area, but is a rougher location. It caught us off guard the first time we stayed there. The staff here, specifically Jr is amazing. The hotel is in good shape and very walkable to so much, specially history and shopping. Just be careful and be aware of your surroundings, specially at night.

There was some noise from the street at night as it is a busy area - but it is in a prime central location. Unfortunately the construction across the street did damper the view from the room.

We were incredibly excited to stay at the Arai Aparthotel hotel, as this was a splurge in accommodation for us. Generally the staff was very kind at courteous, especially on on our final day when we needed a taxi to the airport. However, how we were treated after having a bed-bug scare was absolutely unacceptable. Staff told us that although there was blood on the sheets and evidence, the bugs most-likely came from outside, so there was nothing they could do. There was no offer to switch rooms (even after we requested a room change) and they refused to provide laundry services. It made our stay wildly uncomfortable. They have a responsibility as a hotel to provide a cleanly environment for guests and failed to do so. I recognize things happen, but I would hope that any accommodation would see the severity of an issue like this and how it can affect both the people who are experiencing it and others staying on the property. Had we been treated with more empathy, kindness and understanding - I would have rated our stay as wonderful, but this treatment soiled an otherwise exemplary trip and caused an incredible amount of undue stress.

Pros & Cons of Arai Aparthotel

Pros: Hotel is a central location to everything. We did average about 7 miles walking each day. Yummy restaurants all around. The sauna was great. The rooms were sound proofed.
Cons: Gym is not a gym - you have to reserve it because it has one bike, one elliptical, one treadmill, and one free weight rack of up to 25lbsish. No bench. The gym smelled like mold and there was no way I was working out and breathing all that into my system. Lastly, we were hit with a daily tax outside of our bill. Frustrating to not have that included with all the other fees and surcharges.
