Unable to review the listed as we didn’t get to stay there.
An email 48hours out saying a problem with the apartment and we would be given an ‘upgrade’!
However this was in another part of town which required metro or long walks (which is why id chosen Barri Gotic as my intended location.
So, this rather put a dampener on proceedings.
The property in Eixample was perfectly adequate but not what i paid for!!!!!

Excellent location in Gothic Quarter. 3 balconies for corner room. Comfy bed, Clean and yet with some original charm in the ceiling. Can be noisy at night if you are an early bird.

Apartment was great. Stairs was murder. The areas they suggest to store your suitcase do not exist. But there are a few around. Just hard to find. They offer early check-in. But there is no such thing you cannot enter the property until exactly 3 o’clock. Otherwise very amazing place. I would recommend it to anyone that can handle stairs

The apartment I arrived at was not the one in the advertising pictures and was totally unacceptable. I tried to call the host but they did not answer their phone. I left without staying and wrote to the host requesting a refund. They refused citing their cancellation policy. I've referred this fraud to my credit card company. I found a nice place elsewhere and other than this incident loved Barcelona.

Bad air-con, tiny sick and missing items

Although the kitchen and bathroom appear to be recently renovated, the air conditioning unit definitely needs an upgrade. It was noisy, difficult to operate, and struggled to cool the room during the hot month of July. One night, it even dripped water onto the sofa, creating a mess and a lot of noise.

The kitchen sink is extremely small and cannot accommodate even the provided plates. Basic kitchen items such as a chopping board and knives were missing, and there was no dish drying rack.

Upon checking out, we received an email from the host requesting that we take out the garbage and wash all the dishes. Given the high cost of the rental, this request seemed rude and should be included in the service.

Too expensive for what it was, small apartment with tiny stairs above a hair salon, location was great but window opens to small street with neighboring windows right in front of window, so no privacy. Shower water wasn’t always warm and had little pressure, WIFi didn’t work.

When we arrived they gave us the wrong info to get into the apartment, then moved us to another set of apartments with no elevator, we struggled to get our cares up the small spiral stairs

There was one towel in the room and the bar of soap had been used. The bedding was dirty and so was the floor

They messed up our friends stay and ours. When there was repair needed in our friends room, when they didn't respond to and email about the problem (who is checking email as they are riding in the car)they presumed our friends were not coming and cancelled their reservation without bothering to find them another one. As a result we had to give up our room to go to a two bedroom unit (one bath for two ladies? Right) so basically they had a place to stay. It was dirty, there were none of the things travelers need (soap, kleenix, face towels, brush or soap to clean the dishes with) which they of course requested us to clean and take the garbage out..............

the location is the best thing about this hotel/apartment with so many sites bars and restaurants in walking distance. The staff were friendly and helpful and the apartment was small but had very cool features. The only complaint is that it states a 5th floor BBQ area that was actually another apartment. Sorry to those people we scared by trying to get in.

Read all of the reviews (and pay close attention to the BAD ones) on this property. The apartment that you get is NOTHING like the pictures. I am so surprised that Expedia even deals with this property. Our was LOUD, there was mold in the shower, nail holes in the wall, and cracked paint. Not to mention is was TINY. The pictures are completely deceiving. BEWARE before you book. I left after one day of a week-long stay and ended up at the Motel One - lovely, lovely, lovely.

Property location was great, staff were friendly but room was a lot smaller than picture shows, windows were broken in bathroom and hot water only worked in the morning from the shower, had to have two cold showers. If you can’t walk stairs, STAY AWAY. Small swirly staircase was tiring. But all in all, for the price I would stay again mainly on location and comfort of beds. We didn’t spend much time in the room so maybe that is why I would stay again.

The room was nice and comfortable but we didn't have a remote for the air conditioner so we couldn't turn it on. When we asked for one they brought us a 2nd TV remote which is not what we needed. We asked again and they stated they didn't have one. Therefore, we had to sleep with the balcony door open and it was on a very busy street.

Its a decent apartment however the location is great. The apartment is surrounded buy many different shops and restaurants and only a 5 minute walk from La Ramblas. The apartment it self was a little dated and could do with a change in balcony doors and a new bed.

This would be a perfect place to stay if you are not to fussed about every little detail in your room and are out and about for most of the day

Apartment style room in Barcelona

This place is more or less a one bedroom studio within the guise of a hotel.
You enter at a different side of the building from reception so you don't really see the staff much. For one person it is quite spacious.

The bed was comfortable but very noisy for someone who turns over in their sleep a lot. There was an air condition but it didn't look very wholesome so I slept with the windows open. Warning: sleeping with windows open allows people from around other buildings to see inside your room and allows sounds from outside.At this location, there is always activity outside so sleeping with windows open if you need quiet, this is not the place for you.

The location was very good though, close to two metro stations, Jaume and Liceu, and a busy street and plaza with numerous cafes, bars, convenience stores, etc.

The price was not bad for the short notice either.

Housekeeping is not done on a daily basis but rather once a week, if requested I think.

Not what is depicted in the pictures!

The room we were given was not even close to the pictures on Expedia, when I clicked on the room to purchase it had pics of a beautiful room with 2 single beds, lovely, clean, not fancy but very nice. The room we had was terrible, very old furniture that was all banged up, the walls were all banged up, scratched, chipped and dirty. It was much smaller than the one in the pics and the 3rd bed was a tiny cot, the kitchenette was disgusting as was the bathroom vanity ( an old painted piece of wood). There was no safe in the room and the wooden panel under the window was all cracked and rusted. If I had not pre-paid this room I would have left. I spoke to the front desk and said how disappointed I was as it was nothing like the pictures and they seemed resilient to it like they hear it all the time.
I am a travel agent and will definitely be steering my clients far from this place.

The location of the apartment is fabulous but the noise levels from outside even at 4 in the morning is horrendous! Unless you are the heaviest sleeper in the world, there is no way you will get a wink of sleep? Apartment is equipped well for a short break and location is literally 5 minutes to Las Ramblas.

Comfortable apartment in the Gothic Quarter

The location is prime; right next to a metro stop and in the heart of the Gothic quarter. The service was excellent also--the heater wasn't working in the first apartment we were in, so the front desk was quick to move us to another room with functioning heater.
The room was spacious and contained most apartment essentials, including a stocked mini-kitchen. (Note, there was not shampoo/conditioner/soap in the bathroom, though we fortunately brought our own.)
It does appear that the room was in state of being renovated; the floors and bathroom seemed to be recently updated, though there were construction patches in the ceiling in the bathroom and an exposed electrical panel in the living room. This was entirely cosmetic and didn't affect the functionality of the room.
I would recommend for the friendliness of the staff and the location.

This is budget accommodations, no doubt, and you get what you pay for. The room was ok, but no one came to clean the entire 4 days, no fresh towels, nothing. There was no blanket on the bed and when I asked for one they gave me a 2nd sheet. The bed was as hard as a rock. I've definitely had better experiences elsewhere.

Great venue - close to Ramblas and Juame metro

Apart from the 4 flights of stairs this hotel was perfect for us. Great venue...close to Ramblas and Catayuna square (6 Euro taxi tot he door from Catalyna square after Bus from airport. Air con was great. We could do anything from here with great metro. Plenty of eating places and little patisseries nearby. And gellato. Pleased with our stay!

great location

We organised an airport transfer by the hotel. it was only an extra 5 euro than a normal cab and he was helpful in pointing out the apartment which was in a little alley separate from the hotel reception. The driver also gave us great tips for restaurants and shopping on the way to the hotel.
The location was great. We stayed right near the festivities for the Merci festival. We really felt like we were amongst it all and the best part was that we had our balcony to look down on it all. The only problem is that the festivities party until the wee hours of the morning and the noise was a bit much.

This hotel is very central in the old city. The location comes with a lot of noise so be prepared. Many things were missing such as pots, dishes etc. Beds are very basic and the room is not that secure. They charge a lot for what is basically a backpackers experience.

This hotel is charming and located right in the heart of the gothic quarter. It was within walking distance to most of the tourist attractions and hundreds of bars and restaurants. It had great air conditioning, working elevator to your room and a rollaway bed for our third person. It had a small balcony that looked out on the streets which was a fun addition.

The staff was extrememly helpful and friendly. They were great with English and even offered to print out boarding passes and other tickets for us throughout the trip. If you are looking for an affordable option in the heart of the city, this is a great hotel.

This was a smallish room up a spiral staircase with 40 steps but it is nicely air conditioned once you get there and very clean. It has a marvelous old world feel with the tiny balcony looking across a skinny alley only a few steps from the Jaume 1 subway stop. We walked to our hotel from the cruise terminal following a 12 day cruise, about an hour's walk but an interesting way to see Barcelona for the first time. We walked everywhere from here....the beach was only about 20 minutes and the cathedral about 5. Picasso Museum also about 5 minutes away and numerous restaurants in the area.. this is not really an apartment since a hot plate isn't a real substitute for a stove but we were on vacation and were quite happy to go to restaurants for food. The Jaume 1 metro is only a block away and offered a wonderful alternative to walking everywhere at the equivalent of about $1.50 Canadian per trip which is really a bargain. We loved the location of this hotel and considered it a very good value.

Decent apartment but stairs and sound a problem.

Good air con, handy fridge and hob and microwave, good shower and clean room. Small balcony. Beds a bit hard and not the double we were hoping for - twin singles instead. Major drawback is that reception is in another building so no one to contact about neighbour noise from other apartments. We were woken at 3am on consecutive nights by the guests next door blasting music and singing, clapping and shouting. The stairs to the apartments are steep, narrow and slippery, made even more dangerous by cleaners leaving beds, buckets etc on the stairs. Our apartment was on the 4th floor and getting up and down was difficult with bags. No lift. Would not recommend for longer than a couple of nights.

Apartment in good location for exploring old city. 20 mins walk to the beach. 10 mins walk to Placa de Catalunya for transport links. Apartment has lots of character with old shutters and small balcony. Cleaned every 2 days. Lots of shops and places to explore nearby.

Decor/furniture in room rather old and shabby. Rather disappointing compared to picture on internet. Single bed very uncomfortable with springs sticking through mattress. Very noisy day and night with traffic and pedestrians. Had difficulty getting into apartment reception for keys. Office looked closed behind plate glass window. Finally got in when someone came out. You have to go up and knock on the glass to get someone to let you in.

Overall, enjoyed the location.

Awesome location

This place was adorable. The room was good-sized and the view out of our little balcony was incredible (how could it not be in this area)? There were decent amenities, but we ended up not cooking there as there was only a burner and we didn't make coffee there as there was only one of those little silver things and I'm unsure how to use one. Having dishes and glasses was good as was being able to wash and dry them for reuse. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. I would have liked one of those roll-down shades over the outside of the balcony door so we could have it open without the person across the way being able to see in, but she wasn't there most of the time, so it wasn't much of an issue. And true-to-form, the stairs were interesting. There's a little convenience store down the way towards Calle Jaume. If you stop in there, tell Anna we said hi. :O)

Beware the stairs!

Ok, the positive aspect of these apartments is the location in the fabulous Barri-Gotic quarter. The rooms themselves are a bit basic, but quite clean and pleasant. Our apartments could only be reached, though, by a long, winding, spiral staircase. That did add a little, admittedly, to the Gothic atmosphere, but was awkward and inconvenient to put it mildly. Then, we learned that their reception was closed between 3:00am and 9:00am. They seemed put out when we advised that we needed to leave at 8:30am, and (owing to the said stairs), a staff member would need to assist us in bringing our bags down! Ultimately, after some pushing, we achieved that (and I was left wondering how they expected to get the keys back otherwise). So, great location, and not a bad room, but be warned!

What it says \"0n the tin\"

It is advertised as a \"basic\" self catering apartment and that is what it is. AinB do various grades of apartment so if you want something more luxurious -you can pay for it and have it. The studio apartment was bright, modern and clean and contained all the things advertised eg kettle, microwave, fridge, electric ring.

It was included in their cheaper range because it was accessed up a very narrow, vertical spiral staircase. Forty steps to our apartment and there were others upstairs. Instead of a wardrobe their was a small rack and 2 shelves and their were no pegs to hang towels or items in the bathroom. This did not bother us and we were really happy there.

The staff were extremely helpful and when we arrived back at 10.30pm one night to find our air-conditioning had broken they came over within MINUTES! and fixed it. That is better than in many 5 star hotels where I have stayed.
The location of Gothic Jaume 1 was perfect. Near to La Ramblas without the noise, walking distance from the sea. Great for buses and underground.
AinB own various different apartments in different locations so it is advisable to ask questions directly about the individual place where you might be staying.
We would certainly stay there again

KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING INTO!!!

AinB stands for apartments in Barcelona. The address provided by Hotels.com is just for check-in. If you arrive prior to 10:00 am local time, you will not find anyone there (not sure how late they stay open, but this is not 24 hour check-in). There is a number printed on the door for after hours service, but there was no answer when we called. The room was available at check-in (we arrived before 10:00 am) which was great. However, the way it works is the gentleman behind the counter gives you keys and directions. You must then walk to the location with all your luggage. The apartment we got was small (which is to be expected), but the worse part was it was on the third floor of a building with no elevator and a tiny (and I mean TINY), winding staircase. My wife had a rather large piece of luggage (we were on a 15 day trip) and it was quite the work out to get it up there. The room was barely large enough for the bed, had two tiny pillows, 3 towels (2 bath, 1 hand) and a blow dryer. No other amenities (no soap, shampoo, fridge, extra pillows or sheets)! I know it must sound like I hated it, but honestly, I did not. It was a central location right behind the Barcelona Catherdral (Warning: Church Bells ring all night) with everything you may need nearby. However, this place is more for the young crowd looking to party; not the married couple that is willing to pay little more for the comfort of a hotel. If you need nothing more than a place to sleep, go for it. If you're the picky traveler, this is not the place for you.

Lovely apartment but....

The stairs leading to the apartment are circular and steep so not for anyone who has mobility difficulties. Otherwise the apartment is perfect for two and in a great location with the metro nearby and a short walk to many attractions.

In the heart of Barcelona!

This place was a perfect base of operations for our trip to Barcelona. It's so convenient to have a small kitchen, and the apartment is up-to-date while still maintaining a traditional feel. If you can't handle the noise, this isn't the place for you, but if you want to be in the mix, there's no place better!

The best location

Excellent location very close to good bars and restaurants and not to close to the expensive rip off bars in la ramblas. Easy to find and very helpful staff. Arrived early and was allowed to go into the room. Just like all the other reviews you will not get any sleep. The traffic noise starts very early and finishes very late and there is no double glazing only wooden doors with shutters. Also no hair dryer or iron and no safe in the room

Great Location

Although the pictures on the website do not reflect the actual room we were in... I understand AinB have lots of apartments in the area... The room is self was small and compact more like a bedsit... Saying that the location was perfect to everything easy to find and get around very central location. It is a little noisy but then again you are in the heart of Barcelona! Would definitely visit again :)

Squeaky bed and different address from booking

The address provided for our booking is the office and a separate location, but the hotel let us change the location for the same price. We never saw the location we were booked for. The bed is so uncomfortable. Every time I turned, the bed board moved and squeaked. Location cannot get better. The staff was super helpful, but the internet was on and off all the time.

Comfortable room in great location!

I really enjoyed my stay. The hotel was was quite large and conveniently located for the price. It did take us a while to check in because the previous guest had lost the key, but once we got into the room we were pleased. Also, the TV didn't work, but we didn't go to Spain to watch TV! I'd stay there again if I ever go back to Barcelona.

Great location , walk to everything

Only negative narrow spiral staircase, great area with plenty to do. Very close to jaune 1 metro. Use the aero us from airport only 6 euros to cataluyna area metro, ten minute walk to hotel. I only had had a backpack as staying 2 nights. So was great for me.

Nice hotel, superb location!

We stayed with my friend for a weekend. Room looked a bit beaten up, could do with some maintenance. However, it was clean, shower was hot, location is brilliant, so it's superplace to stay for a weekend. Particularly if you don't stay in a room for long.

Ideal for what we needed it for as we traveled

Lovely little place perfect for war we needed it for as we were hardly there . Only thing is few things were broken and the beds were rock hard no other half came home crippled but other than that very cute apartment and perfect area in barcelona as you have everything around you and a 5 minute walk to las ramblas

Great location

Very nice apartment with kitchen facilities. Great location in the Gothic district, kind of noisy, especially on a Saturday night till the wee hours of the morning, but if you close the door tight & use ear plugs you can get sleep. Very nice accommodations, clean, plenty of space & we had a very nice balcony!

Easy Gothic Access

The apartment was small but had all the amenities needed for our two night stay after the cruise. Room size does not matter as there is too many sites nearby to visit. We had the apartment on the third floor and the narrow stairs were troublesome for bigger luggage. Convenient stores directly across the apartment, including money exchange a block away were a plus. Overall for the cost the place is acceptable as it is centrally located to the Gothic Quarters. My wife and I would stay at the apartment again.

PERFECT LOCATION

ARRIVED EARLY BUT HELPFUL STAFF QUICKLY SORTED OUR ROOM WHICH WAS IN GOTHIC PART OF CITY. THE ROOM CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE AND IN EASY REACH OF THE CITY CENTRE AND SECONDS FROM LA RAMBLAS. WE STAYED AT WEEKEND AND ALTHOUGH ADMITTEDLY NOISEY AT NIGHT WE WOULD DEFINITELY STAY AT SAME ROOM IF AVAILABLE NEXT YEAR.

We had a amazing stay at the gothic jaume I. It is situated in a very central location with many attrations within a few minutes walk (ie ramblas, cathedral, placa reial etc).

Apartment rental in Barri Gotic

This apartment rental is very well located, to enjoy quick access to the Barri Gotic, the Cathedral, el Born district, Jaume1 Metro stop, lots of shopping and restaurant choices nearby. The staff was helpful in giving us an orientation to the city and best routes on the Metro.
