The location of this hotel is great and you tend to pay more for a big city hotel but some things could have been better.
There wasn’t a single picture or decoration on the wall. Not a big deal but made the room kind of drab.
The bed was old and kind of sagged on one side. The tv was small and wasn’t a smart tv so only one English channel. One chair and only tiny end tables. Tiles in the bathroom were cracked so didn’t feel like the hotel was well kept

The property is in a great location, close to the Cathedral and a number of museums. There is an Irish pub within a minute walk. The condition is okay, and it gets cleaned everyday. The reception team were friendly and helpful. The only issue we had was we got harassed by one tall cleaner who came to our room and asked if we require “personal” service. We got very uncomfortable as we were two women traveling together.

We got there at 11 a.m. and had checked in, and have requested a street facing room with balcony. We were told it willbe ready by 2, whne we got back at 4, we were not given the room we were told, and we were told that the room that was already assigned to us, was given to someone else. so we were in a small room, and the air con wasn't working, we called the staff to have it checked, he tried and couldn't figure out why it wasn't working, this was already past 9 pm. the staff said he would call maintenance, only to find out that they are off for the day, so we didn't have air con all night.

with the check in confusion, we were told to bring our luggages to the reception by 11 am the next day so that they can check if they can transfer us to a street fronting room, which we did, and they did transfer us.

we asked the manager on duty about these incoveniences (air con issue and the check in issue), at at least free breakfast, but they denied us, the told us that there was not problem with the air con, this is even after the staff had checked it out and it wasn't working and this is after the staff admitted that the room that was assigned to us already was given to someone else.

we were just asking for free breakfast which was $15/person, and for the incovenience we encountered, it was given to us.

My wife has recommended this hotel to me as she stayed at this hotel in 2023, with a group of 6 people.

We are DEFINITELY NOT going to stay at this hotel again.

We got there early and were told we would get our room a 14h. So we left our bags at the reception and when we got back passed 14h the room was still not ready. We came back for nothing, we had to wait until passed 16h.

oh my god this hotel is the worst to sleep. You can heard the noises across the walls. The housekeepers and the guess slaps the doors early in the morning and the guess talk super loud and the dogs barking can’t let you sleep not mentioning that you can hear all the toilets and water coming out of the faucets. So yes it is ideal if you want to be like a zombie and sleepless nobody will be able to sleep. Also people at the front desk needs to be more informed about other countries passport because they didn’t want to check me in with my passport card, instead the keep asking me for the book which I didn’t have at that moment.

Tuve problemas con las baterías del TV y la caja fuerte, avisé en recepción y me resolvieron. Solicité más almohadas y me las hicieron llegar. La cama no es tan cómoda, pero con las almohadas extra, pude dormir mejor. Me arreglaban la cama y cambiaban las toallas a diario, pero no barrían, ni cotejaban que los productos estuvieran llenos. Me quedé sin body wash y no le hicieron refill. Podría incluir una plancha para la ropa. Me tocó habitación sin vista, podía abrir las ventanas, pero me topaba con ver personas en sus apartamentos del edificio contiguo mientras lavaban ropa o fregaban.

The staff make this hotel. Besides the amazing location and the amazing view from our 8th floor room while sitting on our private balcony; the staff are the most attentive, welcoming, knowledgeable, and professional I have seen in my traveling career. By far Luis was one of the nicest people we had the pleasure of meeting in this city and will take good care of you, but that goes for the rest of the staff aswell. If I could rate the our experience higher than 5/5 I would.

The staff are so friendly and accommodating, they were lovely! The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was lovely. The location is perfect for getting anywhere in Barcelona. However the room was a lot smaller than the room in the photo when we booked, and the view from our window was a messy terrace with cat/dog food tins etc.

Front-desk staff was unhelpful and sometimes incompetent. At check-in, we were not provided the 2-twin beds requested so mt husband and I shared a twin bed. The front desk provided a one-night key even though our stay was for two nights. Having to go back for another key isn’t a huge problem but it shouldn’t have happened. When I checked to see if a 2-bed room was available later in the day, the front-desk lady had no interest in checking or helping and her head “no” until I left. My daughter was able to switch to a two-bed room when a different person was at the front desk.

In the evening with the same person at the front desk, she didn’t come out of the back office, and no one was at the desk for customers.

It was a miserable two nights at this place and it didn’t need to be.

The bathroom door opened partially because behind it was located a bidet - this was both an architectural and functional fault.

No iron or steamer in the room, and no magnifying mirror in the bathroom.
Unfortunately, it seems the walls between rooms are not sound insulated because when our neighbouring rooms showered, closed their door, or spoke we could easily hear them.

Overall, I do not believe this is four star hotel. The only attractive part about the hotel is that is walkable to Pl Catalyuna going North, and the Beach/Port Vell, going south.

The hotel is fine. There is a construction on site. My review is because I asked for a taxi to one of their staff and they said I should wait 30 minutes and I iwas ok with that. The inconvenience is that after that time they said the taxi is unavailable because they can't reach the zone. A clearly lie because there were several taxis around the street.

Good, central location with a Metro station within 5 minutes walk in either direction.

However, the hotel itself is a little tired and dated and definitely feels more 3 star than 4 star, especially given the lack of facilities (no bar, no room service, no dining other than breakfast). Breakfast itself was the usual european fare (bread, meat and cheese, pastries etc) with the typically poor attempt at bacon and eggs and not an English tea bag in sight!

On the plus side, the staff were all very pleasant and accommodating and the beds were comfortable but, although it was good value for money, I’ll probably look elsewhere the next time I’m in Barcelona

I wouldn’t think that this was a 4 star hotel based off of its rooms (sink didn’t work, bedding was stained and we got twin beds not a double), the breakfast (terrible, we didn’t eat there after day 1) and it’s dated decor in the rooms (cracks everywhere, mould in the bathroom, noisy doors everywhere). It was quite noisy (don’t get room 214) and we reported a couple of the above and it was sorted but no reason or explanation. We were advised by one team member we could vacate our room at 20 mins past the deadline but was called twice and berated as to why we hadn’t left yet, despite explaining. We found out that the team member was incorrect and he shouldn’t have said anything to us apparently.

It’s a good location but I would say this hotel is a one night stay maximum, for the amount of money we spent we were expecting a higher standard.

Pros:First off we loved how close this was to everything! It was in a perfect spot. The front desk lady was very nice and helpful.

Con: The rooms were very loud. We were woken up just about every night around 1-3am by people talking and slamming doors.

We also had to switch rooms because after a 12hr plane ride the first thing I wanted to do was take a shower. Took a shower and went to turn the water off and everything was electrified. Yes I was shocked pretty wild soaking wet in the shower. So managed to get out and think about what just happened. Dryed off and continued to quickly place a finger on the water faucet in the shower 7 separate times to justify that I wasn’t crazy. Yupp it was electrified. So went down to the front desk and tried to explain what happened but I don’t think they fully understood and any normal human being probably wouldn’t have understood this situation either but they managed to get us another room at that moment so I’m happy that got fixed.

I also don’t feel as if the photos on the website don’t represent the actual rooms at all. Both our rooms were very very small and just felt dirty in general.

The best thing about this hotel is the location, staff and the fact that the company that runs it hire people with disabilities. It is definitely not a 4 star property. I would rate it 3 stars, so it was very overpriced for what we expected. The room was basic. It was spacious and clean. The bathroom needs updating. Some of the tiles on the floor were loose. The perks of daily water and complimentary coffee was spotty. Some days we got water and others none. There was only tea bags provided so we presumed coffee was not an option, however, on the day before our departure coffee packages showed up.
There were no English TV channels. We asked the front desk about it and the gentleman said he would have the technical people look into it, however, during our entire stay of 8 nights, there was nothing in English.
The staff was friendly and willing to help with directions. The location was convenient to everything.

Great central location for all areas Hotel was easy to locate.
We have been to the Malaga IlUnion a few times hence the reason we picked the Barcelona hotel but found the Barcelona a lot smaller with fewer facilities and smaller bedroom bathroom but it was just a couple of nights and somewhere to base so unless you are expecting lots of room and facilities you would be disappointed.
Staff were very friendly and helpful rooms were clean.

Definitely not a 4 star property, maybe 3 tops. Tiles on bathroom floor were loose, weird layout with toilet right at the doorway and bidet 4 ft away. Barebones room but good for a night pre-cruise, only €15-20 taxi to terminal.
Staff were friendly. Breakfast was pretty good. Construction on via laietana right in front of hotel so hard to do drop-off and pickup, but there’s designated taxi zone about 100 m across the street.

No air conditioning. Very very small room. Looking outside from window, you see a terrible dirty environment. I am taking about back of the hotel.

There was 2 hours electricity turn off on Sunday morning so we did not have electricity and light in the room. I cant imagine if this would happen before leaving the hotel, packing etc. The turn off was planned but nobody understood this from hotel mananegement . Information about this was very weak. A notice was only on hetel walls, not delivered to individual ros etc.

This is my second time as a guest at this hotel and once again I am very pleased with my stay.

The rooms are very clean and comfortable, the staff are helpful and friendly, particularly the gentleman who works on the reception desk,
who’s name is Carlos. He is a very nice man, he is amiable, polite and is a great asset to the hotel.

Overall I can thoroughly recommend the Hotel Ilunion Almirante and will stay there again on my next trip to Barcelona.

I love this hotel. It is simple,but clean, and the beds are so comfortable. The concierge desk personnel are terrific, especially Karen. The breakfast is hearty. The convenience of location in the Gothic quarter is the best. I am especially pleased with the hiring of special needs personnel. A highlight of the visit.

This property is dated! Staff weren't that helpful. Had an issue with my reservation when first booked had breakfast included, but had to remove one day of my stay...then my breakfast was deleted??? Wouldn't do anything for me!!! Also wanted to charge me for the 2 coffee ...but didn't when checking out! Also the whole street in front to the hotel was under construction of their sewer system...taxi couldn't take us to the front door! Hotel is not clearly marked!!! Walked past it twice!!!

Hotel room and lobby were very clean. Staff was extremely helpful with questions. Elevator could use upgrade and shower was poor design. Drain didn’t work and when I first turned on the shower, it sprayed water all over the floor because it wasn’t latched into wall properly. Loved that they gave you complimentary water and was conveniently located.

Enjoyed our stay. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely varied breakfast. Windows block sound from traffic well.
Our only gripes were that the room got very warm at night and the air conditioning was not working. Could not open window due to traffic noise.
Also the room was much smaller than photos on website.
