The Lamaro is a beautiful hotel in a perfect location in the gothic quarter. The front desk staff seemed overwhelmed at times. The elevators were small and wait times for them were lengthy, at times. My room was pleasant but I had a view of a wall. In my opinion, the property is not a 5 star hotel. The towels were extremely hard and I couldn’t figure out how to get the coffee machine in my room to work. There is a rooftop bar with a stunning view of the cathedral and city. Overall it’s a lovely hotel, but I guess I was expecting a little more for $400 US a night.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Lamaro Hotel. From the moment we arrived, every aspect of our stay exceeded expectations.

The location is outstanding—right in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, making it the perfect base for exploring Barcelona.

What truly set this hotel apart was the exceptional service. My son has severe food allergies, and because of this, I had emailed the hotel about a month before our arrival. At that time, they were unsure whether they could safely accommodate his dietary needs. However, when we arrived and visited the restaurant, the staff immediately took our allergy cards and carefully reviewed all of the information. From that point forward, every member of the restaurant team was informed and attentive. Each day, they surprised us with new allergy-friendly treats and went above and beyond to ensure our meals were safe.

My son and I both have severe allergies to gluten, nuts, eggs, dairy, and sesame, so finding a hotel that takes food allergies seriously is incredibly important. The restaurant staff was consistently kind, warm, professional, and genuinely caring throughout our stay.

The front desk team was equally phenomenal. Whether we needed an iron delivered to our room or had questions about the city, every request was met with a smile and handled immediately. Their attentiveness and hospitality made us feel truly welcome.

This was our 6th stay at the Lamaro. We started staying there when it was the Colon, and this was our third now that it’s the Lamaro. Every trip is perfect. The hotel is always beautifully maintained and managed and the staff is friendly and always helpful. The rooms are cozy and comfortable. We love a balcony room facing the cathedral. Though there a lots of action and life outside, the rooms are always quiet.
We’ll actually be back there soon!

Disappointed that a 5 Star Hotel would have rooms w/room windows facing a VERY narrow inward facing plant feature where the VERY close units across displayed personal laundry. While the Deluxe room was clean & spatious, 2 sheer curtains were snagged/tattered detracting from 5 Star expectation. Open stall shower unknowingly allowed water to run across long shelved vanity soaking the towel & bathroom tissue supplies on the long lower shelf. Water pooled in front of the vanity. The 5 Star rating set high expectations.

The hotel was beautiful! The location across from the Catedral Barcelona was perfect with the plaza between. The hotel food was fresh and delicious. We enjoyed Lamaro's breakfast, dinner outside on the plaza, and the roof top patio. The staff was amazing and friendly. This is where we will stay again if we return to Barcelona.

Fantastic location right in the centre of the Gothic quarter, which is very lively. More convenient that staying down in the beach area which is a bit of a hike. Rooms are nice and modern - although the Elegance rooms are just a bit too small for my liking. The next rooms up are perfect.

Street noise is a bit annoying, but that is partly due to the location and choosing to be so central (walking down to the port, up to Pl Catalunya etc), and also very close to the metro system.

Quite a bit of internal noise from floor above (all floors are wooden and not well soundproofed, and creaky old lifts).

Breakfast is exceptional. Very well considered, high quality, and in a beautiful room over looking the Cathedral.

excellent location. Clean rooms. Friendly helpful staff for the most part. Super fun rooftop bar with view of the cathedral . However, the one really big problem was the Sewer Smell in the lobby. Also, a few times it was terrible in the hall to our room and a few times briefly smelled up the room. When mentioned to the staff, they ALL acted like we were crazy and there was NO such stink. I dont think the staff was allowed to confirm the stink...or even talk about it. Breakfast was Great.
Would probably not stay there again even through it could be a super great hotel without the stink.

The Lamaro is a stunning hotel! It is conveniently located on a lovely square right opposite the Cathedral of Barcelona. The view from the rooftop bar/restaurant is fabulous. The area has lots of cafes and small shops for exploring. The room was beautifully decorated as was the lobby. We ate breakfast twice and dinner once in the main floor restaurant. All meals were great. I would certainly stay there again!

This was the perfect location for staying in Barcelona. Central to the city with easy access to all the sites, hop on/off bus and the beach. The hotel is gorgeous and in a prime location. The staff are wonderful and friendly.
The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The bed was also very comfortable. Blackout curtains ensured the best rest possible. The bathroom is spacious and modern with all the most luxurious toiletries available. My favorite was that the bathroom was stocked with ALL Bvlgari au Thè Vèrt bath and body products. Overall there are no details left out.
The cons: there was no way to turn on the towel warmer. This is a bummer as it’s one of my favorite things about a 5 star hotel. There were 2 TVs but the single remote that runs them would power them on and do nothing else rendering them completely useless. We tried everything just to get news or local info in the morning but neither worked. Not a problem as we were obviously not there to watch TV but seemed odd at €500 per night not to have these features working tip top!
The only other thing to note is that this hotel will “nickel and dime” you at every turn. After paying €500/night they want an additional €24/person for the standard breakfast. We skipped that. If you want late checkout, which only buys 1 extra hour €60! That’s a euro per minute to checkout at 12 rather than 11. If you book directly through their site you can get free parking in the public lot in the square if not €28/day.

The rooftop terrace is the perfect place to watch the sunset over the Barcelona Cathedral. The view is spectacular and excellent service.

I recently stayed at Hotel Lamaro during my Barcelona leg of a Spain trip, and it was an absolute delight. The rooms were incredibly spacious, with ample closet space. The hotel’s location was perfect, right in front of the Barcelona Cathedral, offering breathtaking views from their rooftop bar and restaurant.

The staff at the front desk and the doormen were exceptional. I can’t express enough how wonderful they were. I also opted for the breakfast package, and the buffet food was simply delicious. It made my day so much better to have a hearty breakfast before embarking on my adventures.

Overall, everyone in my travel party gave Hotel Lamaro a resounding 5/5 rating. I can’t wait to return to Barcelona and stay at this wonderful hotel again.

The elevator is not operated by card, you can go to whatever floor, taking into account the hotel terrace in top is publicly used, there are bunch of tourists from noon till 10pm constantly using the two tiny elevators, often stopping and looking at the floors in between too. The tv didn’t work, room service menu is only on the tv. I was suggested I should just go to restaurant. Doors are not sealed a giant gap along the entire highlt of the door between the door and its frame. I saw 3 rooms -all had it. You will be a part of every conversation in hallway. Also doors don’t have peak hole and none of the 3rooms had working lock. I would not stay there again.

This was the best stay I believe I have ever had. Once we brought our luggage through the door we didn’t touch it until we were in our room. At the end of our stay we left it in room and next time we saw it was in our cruise cabin. The staff were helpful on getting cabs, information, to the port. All did a fantastic service.

The staff is wonderful. The location is excellent. The room was clean and well appointed. The only downside was when you book a balcony room overlooking the cathedral, make sure it is above the trees on the street. Our view was obscured so it wasn’t really worth the extra money. It was our second stay there and we will be back.

A really lovely hotel. We wished we had stayed for our whole trip! Comparable priced hotels in the are half as nice. Staff is fantastic and very helpfully. We left a phone in a cab and the concierge went above and beyond to help us recover it! Hotel is extremely clean and luxurious. The suites opening onto the church really do have that view!! The bells are quiet. The square can be raucous with buskers, but we didn’t mind. Having easy access to the rooftop bar is really a plus. Beds are comfortable. My only complaint is that the breakfast (though delicious) is $30 euros per person which is way overpriced especially if you are eating with kids. There are plenty of breakfast spots close to the hotel. Can’t wait to return!

I had a wonderful stay at Lamaro Hotel. While my initial room view wasn’t what I expected, the staff handled it incredibly well and upgraded us to a room with the most impressive views, truly stunning. They also generously provided complimentary breakfast for me and my guest. The room was spotless, and the staff was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and always eager to help. Thanks to their outstanding service, I would absolutely stay here again!

I truly enjoyed my stay at Lamaro Hotel. The location is perfect, and the staff were exceptional—everyone from the doorman to the housekeepers and reception team was incredibly warm and friendly. I also appreciated the wide range of amenities available.

My only concern was with the bed, as it seemed to be made by joining two twin beds into a full-size bed, which made it slightly uncomfortable for me. Aside from that, I had a wonderful experience and thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Well, let’s just start with o real rating - they advertise themselves as 5 star hotel but by average American standards it’s between 2-3
There no traditional hospitality standards we are all used to ( Vegas , NYC , Miami , Boston ) equivalent to 5 stars
Rooms are very small and odd shaped , bedding is Ramada Inn quality , no tubs.
Heating or TV were not working in our room and staff did not care to come and fix it
Pricing of more than 400$ per night is ridiculous and frankly insulting
Anyhow - don’t get lured in by the location , no direct access by uber or taxi , and so called roof top is just a tourist trap
They let anyone from the street come and use it so you don’t have any privileges as a hotel guest
Expedia should be checking more careful properties before advertising them to its patrons
