This hotel exceeded all my expectations. Its location right on La Rambla made it convenient and fun. The room was small, but impeccably clean with modern amenities and a recently remodeled, sleek bathroom. The front-desk staff were extremely attentive and helpful, offering directions and recommendations. I was especially impressed by the young woman at the front desk (whose name I unfortunately did not note) who went well beyond her responsibilities to help me make other reservations during my stay in Spain. I was so pleased with my experience at this hotel that I stayed there a second time on my return trip back to the US. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Barcelona, and if I’m ever back (very likely), I will most certainly stay at this same hotel.

Love the location to be at the centre of La Rambla. Busy, lots of people but the hotel is safe and quiet. I booked this last minute and I’m thankful that we did took it. We were well rested the next day. Love the morning view by the balcony. Had the best empanada from a walking distance stall from the hotel. Will definitely book back!!

The Hostal is directly opposite the Boqueria market on the Ramblas. Perfect location for solo traveller. It is next to Liceu tube station on Green Line and short walk to Placa de Catalina. Spotless condition and efficient and friendly, professional staff.,

It was very convenient being right next the Liceu metro station. Everything is clean, the water pressure is phenomenal and its a great value for what you pay. The only thing to note is that we walked past it several times, both day and night, because it's front door is set back a bit from a wall and the signage isn't very large. We really enjoyed our stay.

Nice location, decent place but be at alert

The place had. A wonderful location, staff were decent but i hated the fact that they took advantage of the situation and charged me a lot. I admit I made a mistake in the reservation and they accepted to fix it but only by making me pay \"rates difference\" as they claimed which were much much more than how they charge normally. Being with my family, i was left with no option but to comply. This made me really hate staying there despite the good location and staff being polite.

Great location, room was cleaned daily with fresh towels, quiet and we slept well (even though it's on Las Ramblas, which is very busy), staff were really friendly and helpful. The Boqueria markets are across the street, giving you a bewildering selection of places to eat, the tapas in the area is fantastic. The Gothic quarter is to the rear, a ten minute walk to the cathedral, surrounded by beautiful mediaeval and traditional Spanish architecture (which puts Gaudi's modernism to shame, imho), plus a host of boutique shopping nearby. Would definitely stay here again.

Nice linens, great location by the market on the Ramblas, super clean room for four. Air conditioning works great. Although there was no coffee pot in the room, free coffee was available after 8 AM in the lobby. They let us put drinks in the office fridge. I thought it was pricey for the size of the room, however.

Worst hotel stay I've ever had. I should have left when I first arrived. It is shared with apartments or something with chains on the doors. The fighting/yelling at night is nothing short of terrifying!! There is yelling coming from inside and outside of the property. My door handle was even jiggled at night. After being in tears I went down the street where I was safe. Simply awful. Females beware!

This place is only good for its location. The only blanket was given to us folded on the floor of the closet. The room had a very strong smell of cleaning chemicals and we had to keep the AC/fan running the entire time. Cleaning lady was very loud in the morning. It is a hostel after all and expect the price you are paying would only be for the location.

This hotel is right on La Rambla and across the street for the market. It is typical European small but it is very clean and the hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. No issues what so ever. Would stay there again if I were to return to Barcelona. No problems with WiFi.

2 star hostal, 4* experience. Only down points is no outside window, just one into a stair well. Had to hold shower to wash as it didn’t reach the wall mount, website said king bed or two singles and we got a double. Also they appeared to be doing some work while we were there so it often woke us up.

Clean overall, complimentary cooled water on arrival, no charge for looking after bags day of departure.

The place is right in the centre of the main street 'La Rambla'. All things are on walking distance. The room was clean and kept neat. The hotel manager gave the map and helped us with some information.
The rating is four because the room had only one window which opened into a lift shaft. The room was not sound proof and we could hear every door opening and closing. So not so good if you are a light sleeper.

The good:
Location is great, on La Rambla, right across the street from the big Boqueria market. Tour buses depart a couple blocks away, starbucks nearby, tons of shops, etc.
Pretty clean.
Friendly staff.

The bad:
Lumpy, soft mattresses. We all had sore backs after a couple nights. Even the young teenager...
Pretty small, very basic room. Not much space to put anything down in the bathroom. Could use a small table or something in there to set down clothes, toiletries, etc...

I enjoyed my stay. The room may have been small although the location was great. It was on las Rambles and I could look out and watch activity from my balcony. The hotel is across the street from the famous Market la Boquería. Wonderful place to visit and enjoy tapas and great food. The staff were very helpful and the room cleaned daily. I would stay there again as it served my needs very well and kept me in close proximity of the places I wanted to see.

Stayed at Hostal Boqueria for a couple of of nights in July. The weather was hot but the air conditioning was perfectly cold every time it came back to the room. It's location on La Rambalas was nicely situated across from the Marketplace and steps from the metro. The room was tiny but ok if you don't plan to spend a lot of time inside.

I booked due to the great location and the photo of a simple but clean and well-kept room. Attendants were nice, but the room was very uncomfortable - the beds were simple frames with thin mattresses on them - like a temporary bed set up for guests. The frame of the bathroom was broken and no one bothered to fix. Beds were never made. For the price of over $200 a night, it was a simply not worth it.

Easy to find - we took bus from airport. Fantastic location - tons of restaurants and shops, close to waterfront area, close to tourist attractions. Loved Barcelona. Check in was easy - we got there early and they kept our bags for us until check in time. Nice staff. Room was a little tight, but clean and just fine. AC worked but took some time to figure out the remote. Overall, a good place to stay.

Great Location and Terrible Room Odor

I walked past the entrance twice before finding the door to get inside the building - if you find the \"Open Market\" you are next door. You go up three floors on the interior of the building to find the lobby. The staff were helpful, the WiFi included, and the room was clean. They charge about ~0.72 cents per day per person for a city tax, which was strange but this may be normal in Barcelona. They were upfront about this charge on check-in but really, who's going to argue about an extra 3 euro due at check out after 4 nights?

The moment I opened the door of my room I was hit with a strange room odor. The odor was a damp/musty/stale smell which never went away. The There is a window in the room which opens to the stairwell/elevator shaft. This causes two problems. The first being the lack of being able to get \"fresh\" air in the room - no breeze and more stale air. The second problem is that the all the noises echo through the open area. My first night there, I got to listed to my neighbor hit the snooze alarm 5 times from 6am to 7am.

I rented the single bed (double) which would have been small for two people. The shower was tiny but worked great! Good pressure and very hot water. The room was cleaned very well and the staff were great for check-in and check-out.

All in all, you get what you pay for with this room. You are directly in the middle of the city for cheap. Remember when booking you getting a Hostal and not a Hotel and you won't be disappointed

The room was fairly spartan but clean and had everything we needed. You get what you pay for and the room was affordable based on Barcelona standards. Location is excellent.
The staff were the real highlight. On the day we left it was raining and I thought we'd get soaked on the walk to the airport shuttle. The fellow at the desk called us a cab but after waiting a while for it to arrive he explained how it was unlikely the cab would actually show up given the demand that morning so he gave us clear instructions to take the underground to the airport. Saved us money and time!

Although the room was small by American standards (not unusual for European standards) there could not be a better location...midway between Placa de Catalunya and Columbus monument on the Ramblas. Bed comfortable, room spotless, everything worked perfectly...tv, shower, hairdryer, & all lights. Plenty of electrical plugs, safe, and elevator. Every member of staff was pleasant, friendly and helpful with any questions and advise. For the reasonable price of the rooms, and if like us, we are not in the room except to sleep and bathe, so the small size is not an issue, this might be the best deal in Barcelona!

After checking in, I found out the air conditioner was not working and the window could not open. So there was no ventilation at all, and I required change to another room. The staff just gave me a fan and said all rooms were occupied and asked me to tolerate it. I already explained to the staff that there was a bad smell inside the room and no ventilation was not acceptable, but the staff insisted not change room for nor do refund. I said i will call police for help, as I really could not accept to stay overnight in this condition. then the staff suddenly said will change room for me.
so at last changed room, but the experience was very bad and unhappy. and for that price, i would say there are much more worth-valued options nearby. so NOT recommend!!
