Not comfortable. TV in wrong position compared to bed. The sink and bath tub stoppers only allowed for water to fill. If you wanted the water to drain you had remove the stopper. My husband almost killed himself in the bathtub. It was so slippery. The hotel was not a five star hotel experience ce. BTW, I stayed from the 1-4 of January and left my ring on the dresser by accident. no one has called me to let me know. Diamond ring with wedding band.

I can’t comment on breakfast as we didn’t have any… there weee so many places to eat on the doorstep.

This is a lovely hotel in a great place. There was works right outside but it didn’t bother us as the windows were sound proof.

Lovely staff who were on hand to do anything. Lovely touches with chocolates & sweets in reception if you fancied. Lovely latte on arrival & was given some great info on area.

The room was lovely, beds comfy & I would defo recommend or stay again.

Truly the worst experience in the past years!

We booked this 5-star hotel for our 3-night stay in Barcelona and were so deeply disappointed. After traveling the world for the last 20 years, I know what a 5-star hotel should be able to offer.

Bed

After a long day, we wanted to rest in the bed and noted that the bed was a standard bed size. This means that, as a 180 cm person, I had my complete feet in the air over the edge of the bed. The width is also far from normal, not enough space for two people to sleep relaxed. Beware, when moving, you will hear the springs and bedframe noises.

Construction Noise

The location at the Ramblas is good. Unfortunately, construction noise directly at the hotel meant relaxing during the daytime in a 5-star hotel was not possible.

TV

While wanting to distract from the construction noise, we wanted to enjoy a movie. This was not possible due to the TV not having a connection. The called service employee could not fix the issue.

Refund

After elaborating at hotel reception, no solution was presented. Very unfriendly and impolite management. Still trying to claim a refund, but Hotel Bagues and Expedia both don’t seem responsible. Each party tries to blame the other.

Facit

We spent $1000 for a miserable hotel and had to rebook a new hotel to be able to sleep normally. This 4-star hotel cost an additional $500.

Hotel Bagues should not have a 5-star rating—3 max.
Expedia, you should take better care of long-time customers—you have lost us

The hotel is beautiful, period. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We had an issue with our air conditioner not working our first night, and was a little frustrated how long it took to get someone to look at it (request investigation five times), we then moved to the room next door and it was fine. Other than that the rooftop is gorgeous with great views and pool. We loved the artifacts on the first floor and the rooms were especially large (in comparison to Lisbon and Madrid). Appreciated the complimentary beverages. The wait staff at breakfast remembered us each morning and made our contributes to our morning starting great.

Wonderful welcome. Feel safe and secure. Lovely atmosphere from the start. Yusef greeted us and was so kind. Even changed our room on meeting us as thought another suit better! Sweets and umbrellas provided! Beautiful little art nouveau display great spiral staircase with super decor. Was so much better than the larger chains and staff were proud of the hotel. The doorman who had Saturday off so we could not say goodbye was also a. Ray of sunshine. Marjeritas lovely.

This hotel is dark and depressing. We got the superior double and were put in a room on floor 1 which had a sliver of a window. Very sad and depressing - not how you want to enjoy Barcelona. When we asked for a better room we were told there were only suites left which they couldn't give us even though it was 10pm and no chance anyone else was going to arrive. The whole experience was uninviting. There are so many other places to stay in Barcelona that are light, welcoming, and make you happy. This hotel is the opposite! Avoid it.

Stylish boutique hotel near a convenient metro stop from which you can access the Sagrada Familia and the meeting points for any tours you might book. You can also walk to many places in 20 minutes. The service was excellent. Be sure to ask for recommendations from the front desk.

My only minor notes: The gym is tiny so if that's important to you, stay at a larger hotel. Also, the elevator makes a clacking sound when it goes up and down. It was a minor distraction that stops late at night.

It was comfortable. Windows were at the bottom part of the room and felt slightly claustrophobic. The staff were very helpful and went out of their way to help us.

The location was not to our liking being in the middle of the Ramblas but that feature may appeal to some younger people. We are in our 70s.

This is a very good Small luxury Hotel of the World. the staff is without a doubt very accommodating. We were allowed to check in early after an overnight flight. It is right beside the Barcelona market and La Rambla
Stay here but try to get the rooms with an outside window, of course the inside are quieter and darker to nap up you jet lag

Sits in the middle of busy and extra crowded street/boulevard. Epicenter of the day/night activities. Streets on the back side of the property are somewhat sketchy, but hotel itself resides in a very good/social/walkable/entertaining street/avenue/boulevard.

Just had a two night stay at Hotel Bagues. The staff who met us at reception were incredibly helpful and welcoming, as were all the staff we spoke too.
The hotel is beautiful and the location is superb. La Rambla is really busy, but the hotel was a real oasis of calm even in the middle of the city.

The Hotel Bagues was a wonderful find. It is a small intimate hotel with a wonderful staff. Not only are they extremely helpful, but also genuinely delightful to interact with. My wife and I enjoyed our conversations with the various staff and learned about their various histories. The hotel itself is perfectly located for tourists. It is within casual walking distance to most of the main areas of interest including the Mediterranean Sea. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a home base to explore the various sights of Barcelona.

The front desk staff was awesome. In particular Augustine and Rosanne (sorry if I got the names or spellings wrong.) were exceptionally helpful with recommendations for restaurants, places to visit and directing me me to a good nearby gym - The Holmes Place. The doorman was incredibly kind and welcoming.

It was a nice touch with the bottle of champagne brought to our room and I loved the candy in the front lobby. Also, a great move to include the mini bar at no extra charge. You'd be surprised the positive impression doing such a nice gesture on your part wins acolades with guests.

I will definitely be back to the Hotel Bagues with my wife in the next year or two. Wonderful experience.

We got an interior room with a tiny window overlooking the interior stairwell. Not a 5-star hotel by any means. On the day of our departure, the elevators did not work, and we had to carry our bags down. The hotel has no restaurant. If you can get a room for 100 euros, it's a good option, otherwise, there are better alternatives in the area.

A fantastic place! Right in the heart of everything, but completely quiet, restful, and very well-appointed. The counter staff are superb, and the room was wonderful. Everyone treated us like we were royalty, including the bartender in the fantastic rooftop bar -- which, oddly, closed halfway through our visit. It's a shame, as that's a great space, but the rest of the hotel is wonderful too, and highly recommended.

I absolutely loved this hotel, the staff was amazing, the room was great and the roof top bar was the icing on the cake. The location was on La Rambla and I was not happy with the area however it was a god sent to have a safe place to go to and the staff went above and beyond to keep us safe. About the staff...they were absolutely amazing, each one of them offered to help us. From recommending restaurants to booking a show and the icing on the cake was them brining me coffee while I watched the sunrise! We have stayed in hundreds of hotels and I would consider this one exceptional. The rating for the location is off because I did not want it to impact my review of the hotel. Go! See! Do!

Our room was was rather small, with not much closet space. they did not provide luggage rack so we had to use chair for luggage, with minimum closet we had to live out of luggage. and surprise, there was no window in our room, rather unusual. There was a great roof top lounge with great views. location was very good and staff knowlegable and helpful. Found us a great resturant. I would stay ther again.

Service was amazing, staff were friendly and accommodating. There are various types of pillows available, robes, toiletries etc. beds are comfortable. The excellent window/door insulates very well from any outside noise. We did notice noise from the hallway - people talking, etc and some sound coming from other nearby rooms but that seems to be often the case with the older boutique buildings. The waterfall shower was amazing - actually felt like rain as opposed to the “wet air” feeling of a lot of the eco-friendly showers these days. My only wish would have been for the shower head to have been more central in the shower space so it wouldn’t be so close to the wall as it was but this was one small point in an otherwise perfectly lovely stay.

Great location (on La Rambla). I worried about the street noise when booking the room which has a balcony right facing La Rambla. But in fact, the hotel did a great job on sound proofing. The noise reduced significantly after closing the balcony door.

The room was well designed and no space was wasted. The closet was a plus, which kept all belongings organized. The safe was very deep and I felt convenient and safe to leave valuable items in.

Many drinks (water, coke, sparkling, beer, lemon juice, orange juice per bottle and nespresso coffee pods) were included. And they got refilled every day.

House keepers were professional. They greeted and checked with us every late afternoon when we were back to the room to make sure we had all things we needed (with chocolate as well).

The front desk staff spoke English very well. So no guessing and gesture needed :-)

The Internet speed wasn't impressive, but we were out most of the time, so no big deal. The toilet is a bit high -- speaking from a 5'10\".

Overall, we were very happy with the hotel and would definitely pay another visit if we go to Barcelona again.

City view from the balcony, was just ok if you wanted to stand and look over the wall. The arrival staff was friendly,and welcoming but not very knowledgeable of what was happening in the city. As an example , Sept 11 is a holiday and they were unsure of what was going on and where.
What I didn’t like was the deck tub was in poor repair, the mats that you could relax on were dirty and wet when I lifted them, people from the rooftop bar could look down on the balcony and even though there was a retractable awning it didn’t do the job very well. The shower door didn’t close well and therefore there were water stains along the door bottom and wall/ floor. The glass doors provided no privacy into the bathroom area, not sure who thought that one through?The room was small for the price compared to others in Spain ,and although adequate was not worth the money. I don’t normally take the time to do reviews but just a heads up travellers .

The facilities were amazing and the staff was over the top helpful. The location was wonderful in the heart of La Rambla, just a 1/2 block away from the Boqueria Market and walkable to almost all the main areas. We came off a cruise ship early morn. They stored our bags for us, gave us a cup of coffee and went over a map of the city with us. When we checked in later in the afternoon, bags were already in our room and the amenities were over the top. Highly recommend this hotel.

Nice hotel, great Location. Front desk service was good. Breakfast was good. Daily Inconsistencies with housekeeping. Additionally, It happened twice where we visited the rooftop bar for a drink and had to wait 20 minutes for a bartender. Not the bartender’s fault. Management has him doing room service as well. The sense is they are trying to save money on staffing costs at the expense of service to customers.

Highly recommend Hotel Bagues

Excellent hotel in location convenient to attractions, shopping and restaurants. Hotel staff was vey friendly and helpful. Great views from the rooftop deck with pool and bar.

Staff were all so helpful an friendly lovely a atmosphere rooftop pool was small but nice the bar man up there was lovely and Richard of of evening was very good an helpful with recommendations couldn’t fault any of there staff each one I spoke to was lovely small hotel but had everything you need.
