I had a wonderful stay at hostal Fernando. I am a single female traveler and found the area to be very safe. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, it was very clean and was exactly what I was looking for during this trip. Great price as well. I would recommend it as well as stay here again. The staff also spoke English which was very helpful :)

The room was tiny, but enough for me traveling by myself. The breakfast was the usual pastries, cold cuts, cheese, cereal, yogurt, and some fruit. It was fine. The staff was good and the location in the Gothic area was great. It was near a couple of subway lines and about a 10 minute walk to the beach.

I paid the price of \"Economy Twin Room, 2 Twin Beds\" for one person to stay, but I got a \"Single Room\". When I checked with the staff, I was told in their system I booked a \"Single Room\", but when I showed them the picture of \"Economy Twin Room, 2 Twin Beds\" of my reservation, I was told they based on the room type. I disagree, I told them when I saw “Single room”, I thought it might mean single person to stay in the hotel, as a traveller, I didn’t care too much what’s a room is called, I only pay attention if the picture of the room was I looking for. Then the staff and I tried to book again to see the outcome from booking Single room vs Twin room. We found if we book a \"Single Room\" it would show the picture of \"Single Room\" and if we book \"Economy Twin Room, 2 Twin Beds\", and it will show “\"Economy Twin Room, 2 Twin Beds\". Right now, my case is I paid \"Economy Twin Room, 2 Twin Beds\" with the picture of \"Economy Twin Room, 2 Twin Beds\", but it showed “Single room” in the detail. I think something might be wrong with system, but I am not the person to pay the error. I need get the different between the Single and Economy Twin.

Convenient location and friendly staff. Given that it's an older building and in a busy district, there was a lot of noise at night. There was also a strange odor in the hallway outside of our room on the 1st floor that remained our entire stay. The room was also very humid when the AC was off and the AC did not reach the bathroom which was also very humid. I personally value location and convenience over fancy amenities so this wasn't a huge damper on my stay.

Although Hotel Fernando has tiny rooms, the hotel could not be more comfortable. Although it is on a main street, the rooms are quiet. The staff went out of their way to answer questions, and the locale is within a five minute walk of everything in the Gothic Quarter. Unfortunately, I had my wallet stolen in the last few hours of my time there, and the staff were kind and helpful as I worked on reporting the issue. The breakfast was wonderful, except there were no gluten free options gor bread, and I had checked om this before leaving. It is a great place to call temporary home while exploring Barcelona.

Brilliant stay with my mum and brother for a surprise trip for my mum's 70th. Room was fab, clean and comfortable. Hostal was great decor and brilliant location. Staff were lovely and very accommodating (thank you 🙂). Breakfast exceeded my expectations and was delicious! Thank you looking forwards to our next visit!

Very good for a short stay! It’s next to Placa Reial which has a lot of food options as well as being around Gothic Quarter. The only issue I had was the wifi in my room was in a bad reception area which drops a lot and had issues with the shower door.
Carlos and Miguel were a big help figuring out what to do on our 2 day stay there. They even setup tickets to see heavily big attractions like Sagrada. Would definitely come back again for another short stay in the future.

This property was super central to everything. It was right in the heart of the Gothic quarter and you could reach the main street within a three minute walk. It was super accessible to taxis and other modes of transportation to get around. The facilities were really nice and the breakfast was enjoyable. Check-in was a breeze & even though we arrived early. They had storage lockers for our luggage so we can enjoy the sites of Las Ramblas (walking distance) while we waited. Hotel was very clean & rooms as well. Cleaning ladies were very respectful & desk reception were accommodating.

Easy to walk from Aerobus stop down La Rambla to get to hostal or €7.50 in a taxi. Stayed in room 101 superior double. Great size, spotlessly clean, never heard a sound outside or inside. November so had windows closed. Little bottle wine and glasses waiting in room. Beds made up every day. Staff were all so pleasant and friendly. Breakfast had good choice.. juice, cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit, salad items and boiled eggs, cold meats and cheeses, cakes and bread/toast. All lovely and plenty of it. So easy to walk around with lots of bars and restaurants (especially the square 100m away towards La Rambla). No view from room, but only using it for sleeping so not a problem. Excellent value and would recommend highly if wanting central Barcelona at a reasonable rate.

Hostal Fernando is conveniently located in the Gothic Quarter two blocks from Las Ramblas. Our room was small but adequate. The premises were clean and the staff was very helpful. Everyone spoke very good English. The street outside is always busy with pedestrian traffic and some cars. The people were out quite late which made it more difficult to sleep off our jet lag. After the people went to bed the service trucks started coming to pick up garbage and make deliveries. The ventilation was subpar and the A/c fan was noisy. Breakfast was limited but tasty and sufficient. The location was great for meeting our tours and people watching.

The hotel was reasonably priced, in a great location. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms are basic (expected for the price) but clean. I would recommend this hotel for someone who is spending most their time out exploring and need convenience over luxury.

Hostal Fernando was in a great location in the city! It was clean and overall an okay stay. They had a great breakfast buffet & we enjoyed the food!
The rooms are VERY small, when we saw the photos online of the family room we did not think we would be staying in a very large suite...however, this room was smaller than any single person bedroom I have stayed in. Be warned that the photos online make the rooms look MUCH bigger than they are.
While we could have been 100% okay with our small room as the place was clean, the staff was kind, and the food was good...our air unit was broken. When on AC it would blow very hot air to which they told us they had it set to only use heat right now. The next day our room would be cold and feel great despite what they had said, and then be scalding again. The air unit would then be turned only to fan per instructions of the staff and yet would still blow burning hot air. Our room was about 80 degrees (F) and incredibly humid. The bathrooms do not have a vent so the room would just be warmer. We continually asked the staff to come take a look or to bring us a fan and they did not do so until the last of 5 nights. I would probably not stay here again as we were basically unable to rest in our room. Our things felt hot and sticky and wet the entire time. We would get ready in the hallway to avoid being in the hot room and would have the door open during the day.

I stayed at this hotel on a solo trip. After reading many reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised! The room was basic, but it had everything I needed (incl toiletries) and more was available upon request. My room also included a safe, which wasn't mentioned anywhere. They offer free wifi with decent speeds as well as a Continental breakfast buffet. The breakfast was really good in my opinion! All the staff were friendly and welcoming and you can tell they all work really hard.

The staff was very kind and helpful- especially Joaquin. They were patient and gave lots of travel directions, food recommendations and secured taxis. The mattresses were comfortable. The breakfast was good. It is very close to La Rambla and a couple of metro stations. We arrived on Saturday and the streets were loud all.night.long!!!!!!! We were a bit worried that we would not be sleeping during our vacation - but the other nights were relatively quiet and we rested well.

Lovely clean room, comfortable bed, excellent powerful shower, everything necessary. Breakfast buffet selection was excellent with many choices for a good fill up to prepare for a days sightseeing around the city. Really central location in the beautiful Gothic Quarter, easily walkable to many attractions and nearby connections with the buses and metro for those areas further afield. Would recommend and definitely stay again for another Barcelona trip.

Well run with very pleasant and helpful staff. They moved breakfast to 7am for the week of the conference I was in town for!! They also found me some power converters when I forgot mine.
The hotel is in the gothic quarter so the most fabulous architecture and history are within 5 minutes walk of you. Even the Segura familia is within walking distance. But it is noisy at night. Nothing much the hotel can do about that. So if you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs. All in all I highly recommend staying here if you love history and want to live in it rather than visit it.

I liked it overall. Staff at the front desk are super nice. However, the place is very noisy. There was construction work starting before 9 am, which is too early for vacation. Otherwise, elevator is noisy all day. Breakfast was good, but then wait staff would bang dishes loudly in the bins while cleaning up. I suppose one gets what one pays for. It was an ok stay overall. This was a great, central place to stay. Metro station within 5 minutes walk, but so much more within easy walking. I did walk past it a couple of times - the frontage is quite narrow - but the Fernando café next door helped! It's in the Gothic quarter, so big spacious rooms aren't to be expected, but my double room was big enough, with a nice en-suite. The only tiny thing I missed was the ability to make a cup of tea - but I am English, and it really wasn't a problem.
