Very hard to find this place! Paid $75euro to get here! But location is perfect! Bed was like sleeping on wood. Kitchen amenities were fine. Building was old and interesting. It's very noisy at night so bring ear plugs.Great aircon . I would definitely not stay here again!

The issue was with check in. I blame Hotels . Com. The insructions were wrong. It was saying to go to soe other hotel after 2pm which will assist with check in. We arrived at 8pm . And found locked door. When we checked the insruction , it said to go to another place (20 min walk) for check in. When I got to the place it was closed for renovations for last 3 days. Thanks for the neigboring business which provided me with wifi and assisted to call the number mentioned for the hotel, I was able to call an the lady told me that she will return a call. The call was returned in a half hour -15 min and they explained that we just need to push a button on the appatment building enterance and do electronic check in inside. I am just wondering why we did no get the instruction from the property by e-mail or on Hotels.com app. I lost 1.5 hour of my time and had a stress which was useless

This place was not even close to expectations. I have no idea where the photo they took came from, but this place was not even close to the photos. I understand that the location was great and that it's located in the Gothic Quarter, but it was like it wasn't even updated from that century. There is daily cleaning service, we had to remove the garbage ourselves daily. New towels were not provided unless we asked (assuming we could catch the cleaning lady that only cleans units that vacate that day). The place itself is in a very sketchy alley. The walls are so thin, we can hear every neighbor that came in at all hours of the night and all the random screaming was beyond unnerving. Considering we stayed at different places all over Italy for 3 weeks, this was the most expensive and least comfortable place we stayed the entire time.

The checkin instructions said we could check in at a different property early. When we arrived at the other location, they said they did not do business with our hotel. That was confusing and wasted our time and cost me an additional taxi.

Good central location, bathroom had a broken toilet seat, a bit of mold in the shower. The bed in the living room was just a futon, not very comfortable.

We really liked the rooms, so quaint. You could easily walk to many stores and restaurants. You could also walk to Catedral de la Santa Creu (cathedral). It is a little hard to find because there are multiple small alley ways. Possibly add the name of the coffee shop and tattoo shop near by for assistance. Also, we had to call to get our booking number to check in via the kiosk. It was not on our Expedia confirmation, possibly that can be updated. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

There is no onsite person. The instruction stated to go to Hotel Ciutat de Barcelona if you arrive outside of the time frame. We went & was told that they do not cover Ciutat Vella anymore about 6 months ago.

The morning after we checked in a staff member entered our room unannounced and uninvited. He awoke my niece, who was asleep and alone in the apartment. He demanded payment for what we had already paid for, telling her that if she did not immediately pay she would have to leave the room. He then took her cell phone and disappeared down the hallway. You can imagine her fright and concern to have a man come into her room, wake her up, take her phone, and demand money.
I ended up leaving the tour of Parc Guell that I had arranged with the rest of my family to meet personally with the staff member and solve the problem. He insisted that I make the additional payment or we would have to leave. He continued to insist even after I called the bank and confirmed that the payment had been taken. The following day the duplicate payment was refunded with an apology. But the fright caused to my niece, not to mention the disappointment at missing the tour of Parc Guell tour, are entirely inexcusable.
I understand that the individual involved is no longer in the employ of Apartments Ciutat Vella. I also understand that Apartments Ciutat Vella is no longer affiliated with Hotel Ciutat de Barcelona as mentioned in the check-in instructions.

Amazing location right in the heart of La Rambla and Gothic Quarter. Apartment itself had been decorated nicely and generally fitted out well.
The beds were small singles which made sleep uncomfortable and the second bedroom was very small with little room for bags. Some might find the lift a little claustrophobic... only room for 2 people without being jammed together. As no dish washer, tea towels need to be provided.

Our stay was great. We loved the room and the decor inside. Adding on, it was a convenient location since there were a bunch of dinning areas and activities that were walking distance. The only thing that bothered us is that when we arrived after 2:30 we had to walk 15 to 20 minutes through the crowds just to pick up the keys. It was hot and we had to drag the luggages, which ended up hitting a lot of people throughout the walk. I wish the hotel arranged better service for example having a key box for us to self check in it for there to be somebody there after 2:30 to help us get in. Also, the alley that we had to walk in to get to the front door was very shady and it stank and when we got in all we smelt was smoke. Overall, the room was amazing and we loved the fact that the apartment had an elevator.

The apartment is in a brilliant location - right on La Rambla. The place itself was clean and the receptionists were helpful. The only downside is that the receptionists are only there till 2:30pm so if you do not check-in before that, you have to go to a different location (10 mins walk) to get your keys. Other than that, all well.

Horrible place. No sun light. Very old building and stair cases not well maintained. Very small and crowded with furniture and extremely overpriced. We paid $450 per night. This is worth $200 at best because of it's great location.

A truly authentic Barcelona experience right near Las Ramblas. My only suggestion is to check in before 2:30 pm to avoid the check in close to a mile away at the Barcelona Hotel. The Barcelona Hotel where late check ins are taken is more than a 20 minute walk to the property and even with a map is tricky to find-especially at night! If you have trouble with stairs avoid this property as stairs are long, narrow, and steep. The elevator is super small. Very adorable place though once you find it!

My room was not ready when I checked in around 11:30 but front desk held my luggage and sent to the room when it became available and I didn't need to go back and retrieve them at 2:30. Off the street on La Rambla
This was a DISASTER. The hotel might be ok, but they hotel has apartments that are not near the hotel. We stayed in an apartment. They hotel said if you arrive after 2:30 proceed to the address given, which was the apartment. They did not tell you that you had to go to the hotel FIRST to check in and get keys. At midnight we arrive at the address of the apartment which is in a very sketchy alley near a bar. It was not safe at all. We went back to the hotel where they finally checked us in and said, no problem just walk 15 mins to the apartment. No explanation, no transportation. This was a very rough area for any hour, let alone at midnight to 1 am. After we got in the apartment we could hear yelling from in the building, and outside, and drunks in the alley. Did not feel safe at all. The late nigh staff was less than helpful and couldn't care less how we got to the apartment. There were 2 guys at the desk blaring \"their\" music while we were there. Not good at all.

we arrived Sunday and we were NOT told that the office is closed on Sundays. we had to lug all our luggage to the actual Cuitat Hotel which is very nice and is on a nice street to check in, get a key and return to this apartment lugging our luggage both ways as taxi's cannot enter these alleys.

This apartment entrance is in an alley. The streets on either side are full of stores and restaurants -- but not this street, it's fully tagged with graffiti and roller doors that house storage for restaurants & stores. The apartment windows overlook this alley.
The street was fairly quiet, but other tenants not. Our first night, we were awoken at 3:30am by extremely loud partiers . I cannot say we felt unsafe, but I wish security had been a little greater. We used the same key to unlock the building entrance as our apartment.
Our flight arrived at 3:30pm, and we got to the apartment around 4pm, so we had to go to a hotel across town to get our key. Under normal circumstances, arriving at this time of day would be acceptable, but not here.
I would not stay here again because:
1. Checking in at 4pm should not require an extra taxi trip across town to pick up your room key
2. Excessive noise at 3:30am should not require an international phone call and a 10-15 minute wait
3. A kitchen should have a corkscrew. I asked twice, but never got one, and bought one myself.
There are much better options for the price we paid!

The worst I've stopped in. 15 to 20 minute walk from main hotel to collect keys. Sink and lights broken reported but never fixed. No privacy had to keep curtains closed all day as over looked. No draws to put clothes in. Woken by guests entering at 4am ringing apartment bells and generally noisy. Not the standard as described more like a hostel had difficulty finding it as no sign and front door covered in graffeti - very poor value could have stopped in a 4 star for same price - never again. Only positive staff very nice.

We loved our stay here. Great location right off La Ramblas. We checked in in the middle of their major festival La Merce so that weekend the apartments themselves were really noisy however come Monday the noise quietened right down. We are not ones to spend much time in our apartment but it was clean and comfortable. Yes, there are stairs, yes if you arrive after 2.30pm or in a weekend you need to check in about a 1km away, yes there is not a lot of natural light but none of that bothered us - you get to stay in a prime location right in the historic gothic part of town where there are interesting lane ways and shops and you are close to La Ramblas and the Metro and anything else you can think off. We loved Barcelona and the apartment and would stay there again if and when we come back to town. Laundry service across alley and go left at the top of the lane and follow the lane to a nice square with plenty of tapas.

Convenient but doggy neighborhood
When we booked this apartment we wanted the space and closeness to the Rambla, we got both, however did not realize the nightmare it would be the check in. The main hotel is about a 30 min walk from the apt and there was a Catalan celebration which we were not aware of some many road closures and the taxi dropped us off on a main street. So first we had a 15min walk through crowds of people to the hotel and the the walk to the apt, dragging my suitcase on cobbled stones, get the picture. The apt itself is in a really dirty alley and I found it a little disconcerting when we came back in the evening. On night a guy was standing in the alleyway fondling himself and making rude comments, did not feel safe. The apartment itself was comfortable and fairly clean, with the exception of crumbs on my roommate's bed and shower wasn't too clean. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The receptionist who came daily from 8:30 to 2:00 was very helpful with making our check out more pleasant and even arranged a taxi. I would suggest this hotel have a concierge on site for longer, maybe break it up into two times, 8:30-12:30 and 4:30-9:30. Also make arrangements with the guess so they could go directly to the apartment. This would make checking in after a long journey much more enjoyable.

The hotel is located in a tiny street in the city, there are graffiti all over the front of the apartment.
The apartment itself is tiny, bedrooms are barely big enough for two beds, nothing else would fit in the room. Windows only open to a courtyard area, no natural light. kitchenette is very tiny, barely usable, no microwave.
The front desk only open till 2pm, very inconvenient if arrival/departure time is after 2pm.

I was in Barcelona for 2 days prior to taking a cruise. The apartment was perfect for 5 of us, in the heart of Barcelona with easy access to all parts of the city and a fun and lively night life.

The location of the apartment was perfect. Close enough to La Ramblas but quiet too. We were on the 5th floor so not sure if it is as quiet on the lower floors. For the price of the apartment I do think maid service should have been included. Toilet rolls and clean towels were available on request from reception. If you needed a maid, you would be charged 30 euros a day. The only other thing was the roof garden which did look rather neglected. It would taken too much to tidy it up and make it more inviting. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would totally recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Barcelona.

The location is awesome - located in the winding alleys. We really enjoyed walking around the neighborhood. The room was a decent size but they only clean the room for an extra charge. Also the reception was only opened limited hours (8-2:30) which meant we had to hike the half mile to their sister property to check-in.

Our family of 5, including children (6, 4 & 4 years old), found the room clean, comfortable and in a great location. The room was a great value since most locations cannot sleep 5 in the same room.
One caution: don't arrive too early. Our flight from New York into Barcelona arrived early at 6:30am, so we went straight to the hotel via taxi hoping to at least drop off our bags. The taxis (you can't put 5 in one taxi) dropped us off at the far end of the pedestrian area near Roca, so we had to walk a ways to be to number 8. We found that Roca was like a public urinal for the area bars on a Friday night. We had to lug our bags and kids down a smelly alley to a locked door with graffiti everywhere. Then we walked to a Pans bagel shop with hungover patrons and waited until the hotel opened at 9am.
Once open the hotel was pleasant and we found out the city washes down the streets each morning, so the location really was not that bad. In fact, access to Ramblas and Metro was great. Just don't arrive early.

Great location-only 1/2 block off Las Ramblas. It is hard to find if you arrive after 2:30 pm when it is locked. There is no maid service while you are there. We stayed 3 days. There is also no coffee maker. The refrigerator, stove, sink, and dishes are nice to use. La Boqueria is a short walk where you can get lots of fresh fruit, olives, wine, etc. There is also a great pizza place nearby with takeout. This is convenient when you've toured all day and want to go to your apartment to relax and eat. The rooftop terrace is a nice place to go at night. You can see the Sagrada Familia Cathedral in the distance with a light show at night. We had 4 adults that fit comfortably in the apartment. It also has a nice shower and bath.

A good hotel in a highly prized location
We stayed for 4 days in this hotel located in the Gothic quarters, a very desirable area in Barcelona (two minute walk to La Rambla). Everything is very close - restaurant, bars, shopping, etc. Entrance to the hotel is not the best, but then that's how most hotels/apartments in Gothic quarters are. Taxi drops you some distance away and one has to lug the suitcases to the hotel (as cars are not allowed into the area). The 2-bedroom apartment was very nice, in almost every sense. Kitchen was well equipped, and AC worked very well. Towels and toiletries were sufficient for 4 people. Cleaning is not done during your stay, but we didn't need it as such. The only negative I can think of is the fact that to let anyone inside the building, one has to go down from the apartment and open the front door. Also, the elevator is very small, barely fitting 2 people and a suitcase. The shower area was only half covered by glass, and it made the washroom very wet after every use. The staff was very nice though, and I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking to explore Barcelona.

We recently spent a few days in Barcelona and found the Apartments Ciutat Vella to be very well situated, just behind La Rambla in a quiet residential street. The apartment was very clean and had all we needed for a great stay, including basic kitchen facilities and reliable wifi. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend this as a good base for seeing the sights of Barcelona.

Gothic Barri Apartment
We disembarked from our cruise ship, took a 5 min cab that dropped us at Las Ramblas, walked a short distance and were received upon arrival with a warm, courteous and friendly welcome by Rosaura. After filling and signing the required form we were handed our keys and took a small, claustrophobic very small, elevator to our 5th floor apartment that had every convenience needed for our 3 nights stay.
The apartment has 3 individuals a/c , kitchen utensils, coffee maker, glassware, dishwashing liquid, paper towels, cutlery, cooking ware, 4 beds, enough towels for 5 adults, toiletries although there were only 2 tiny soaps, I would call them soap chips, that were not enough for one person let alone 5. The elevator lands between floors, so we had to go either up or down a staircase of 5-6 uneven stairs, (didn't count them). Our room was to the back so it was darker than what I prefer. There is a roof top terrace with partially obstructed views of the cathedral but nice for a glass of wine and maybe a lunch meal. I found the garbage cans too small for a group of 5 adults. The one in the bathroom could be little more than a large drinking container, lol. The place is not sound proof. I could hear my family speaking at the lobby from the 5th floor. Otherwise the place is pretty quiet.
We did have a nice stay at this place, felt safe and Rosaura is an excellent front desk person.

Perfect location right off La Rambla
We loved the location, however it is in the heart of La Rambla and on one of those quaint streets that is residential so there is a fair amount of noise 24/7. Also the bed was not comfy at all, but the apartment was extremely clean and roomy. The lady in the office was so helpful and kind even pre arranging a cab for us for a early morning (3:30am) departure!!

The location of the apartment was excellent. We could access the metro and all monuments and sights very easily. The hotel staff was very co-operative but were available only unto 2.30pm and only on weekdays. There was no intercom to communicate. Cleaning facility is not offered. There is only one restroom and that was a problem with 4 guests. Breakfast is not provided. The lift is small and luggage had to be shifted to the fifth floor one at a time. Only one key is provided and we had to come down to open the door for the rest of us. Clean bedlinen should have been provided.

Stayed here - two adults and a toddler, plenty of room, kitchen has 2 rings , fridge and a microwave - we managed to cook fine (given lots of restaurants don't open when toddlers need fed). Nearest supermarket on La Ramblas approx 5 mins walk away open 10:00-->22:00 daily.
We were on top 5th floor - lots of stairs! the lift [elevator] just fits one adult and a small folding pushchair [stroller], if you had a monster chariot e.g. a double buggy you would probably struggle to fit in. Also the lift door is offset from the room door by 3 or 4 stairs - not an issue if 2 adults but one may have difficulties.
Local Staff very friendly, reception is open 08:30-12:30 outside this the 24 hour reception is in hotel 10 mins walk away - if you arrive on AiroBus at Pl,.Catalan its only a minor detour to pick up key from the hotel,, they then give you a very good map to find it
