This city hotel is located in the heart of Barcelona directly near to Plaça Catalunya and to the pedestrianised Las Ramblas. Scores of shops, restaurants and bars as well as a connection to the public transport network are just a few steps away.
The hotel was built in 1968 and was renovated in 2005. It consists of a 4-storey building with a total of 46 rooms of which 25 are doubles and 15 are singles.

I cannot say enough good things about Hotel Catalunya. Its location is central to the pedestrian street Avingula Port San Angel. It is 5 minutes walk to Cathedral de Barcelona and Plaza Catalunya in the other direction. Despite its size, the hotel has an elevator and the rooms are moderate size with clean updated bathrooms. Housekeeping is excellent and staff are helpful and friendly.

I was less than pleased with Hotel Catalunya. As I checked in, I was barely greeted by the hotel staff and felt like it was simply a transaction instead of a welcoming hello. The hotel itself does not boast large rooms, and though I booked a double bed, was only given a single bed. On top of that, I was denied having a guest. The staff literally denied me a guest as if this was a university dormitory. ???? I am a paying customer, how are they going to tell me that I can’t have a guest to my room? It was absurd. None of the staff were friendly, accommodations were not as it seemed, and I was overall very unimpressed. I would not recommend this hotel to others especially since there are so many other hotels in the area for similar prices and probably much better service.

The location overrides everything. I had a single room and I knew ahead of time it would be a small space, but it was more than adequate. The wifi worked well, the shower had very good pressure and it was surprisingly quiet if you closed the balcony doors. I’m guessing triple glazing? I stayed six nights and walked everywhere. Minutes to La Rambla at the end of the street, ditto to Placa de La Catalunya in the other direction. If you don’t plan spending a lot of time in your room, this place is ideal. I recommend it undeservedly.

The hotel is in the Gothic Center real close to Ramblas. It's kind of a noisy area. But, my room was clean, and the staff, particularly the woman who worked the swing shift (M-F) and the woman who worked the morning shift on the weekend, were very, very helpful. It's real close to Plaza Catalunya. It's in the historic area, which is a good starting place to see & visit the city.

Well you can’t have it all-this hotel is located perfectly to easily access just about everything you want to do and see. It’s directly off a main shopping street and everyone is out walking at night and I felt safe. The only problem is that you’re right in the middle of the tourist zone and partying goes on all night. I had a room facing the street so maybe try for one in the back but then you’ll not have a terrace. Also, you can hear everyone inside the hotel on your same level as if they are right outside your door-it echoes. Excellent desk service and the room was cleaned well daily.

The room was small but comfortable and clean. Bathroom was very clean. Room was on the back of the building so the street noise was avoided. The service was excellent. The staff on the desk were extremely helpful. They stored our luggage in a locked room and secured a taxi for us. I would recommend the hotel as a good, low-cost option.

The location is perfect, it's right in the heart of Placa de Catalunya. Airport bus A1 stops right in the Placa and it's 5 minute walk to the hotel.

It was the hardest mattress I ever had in a hotel I couldn't get any sleep on it and that's the main reason to get a hotel. The number two reason to get a hotel is to take a hot shower and I had no hot water at 6:30 a.m.
