There was visible mold in the shower, the toilet seat was broken, and our luggage was left completely unattended after we were told it would be safely stored , anyone could have taken it. You can’t beat the location, easy access to all the best areas Barcelona has to offer, we loved the most being close to the Gothic Quarter and to Parc de la Ciutadella(also the subway station just accross). The staff was a bit not welcoming (except for the night shift, he was great and very accommodating and helpful ) our room was being cleaned when we arrived and we have asked if we can check in earlier if possible, the person at front desk told us we can come back in an hour..hour and a half to check in, when we have returned- there was another person at front desk and he completely denied us to enter the room even though it was already cleaned and we have our key, he was quite rude and didn’t want to hear what the other person had said before and told us to come back after 3pm. (I guess you are getting what you’re paying for). The walls are thin, you can hear everything and rooms not big, but it was ok, since we were not staying this much in room except to sleep and shower. They have also painted rooms in white, so no more green. Location and convenience were the best.

You could not ask for a better location. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean. The accommodations were basic, however for the price, location, and helpfulness of the staff you can’t beat Hostal Fontenella! If I go back to Barcelona I’d definitely look to stay there again.
