The property location was great, walking distance to most of the main sites. The room itself was pretty large as we stayed in the triple room. However, the bathroom was dated, the shower door was off the hinges and very flimsy, the drain was clogged and would cause the water from the shower to leak on to the main bathroom floor and the drain would not catch it. Overall, the hotel would need some renovations IMO.

Beds are from the 50s, internet it horrible, why even bother offering that. Asked for bath towels at 10:00pm ( we were short one) we were told it is late and no one is available to bring us one. We offered to get done to it, still no one to get us a towel. I can go on and on.. we had to buy our own shampoo, hand soap and sugar for coffee… this place in no good, paid $311 per night, never again

The hotel works. Pros: It’s cheap, very nice looking, the AC works well and the staff were quick to smile and say hello. Cons: the room was small and had a view on nothing but a blank wall and the hotel itself didn’t offer a ton of amenities. But as long as you’re expecting a cool and secure place to sleep in a good, central neighborhood, you’ll be very happy for the price.

Chance find of an elegant, quiet comfortable hotel

We booked into this hotel at 2hrs notice when our Barcelona to LHR flight was cancelled. It is a short taxi ride from the airport and walking distance from lots of interesting places. The hotel is wonderfully quiet even on a weekend, and has very comfortable furnishings in the rooms and even in the reception area. Our room (201) had high ceilings and a wonderfully large bathroom tiled in pink marble. This hotel is clearly old but well maintained and has a quiet elegant air. The staff are friendly and helpful. The compensation for our cancelled BA flight should more than cover the cost. This is a hotel I would love to return to.

It’s really a 2.5 stars hotel advertised and sold as 4 stars. Very basic amenities. Military grade mattresses - too firm and noisy. Large bathrooms, but not very clean and well maintained. The only positive - the location is perfect! Walking distance to everything in the old town.

Our room was not ready 30 minutes after check in time. Really old building and not enough electrical outlets to charge all devices. Shower was leaking outside the tub because the glass screen was not sealed properly. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

The room was tiny! I didn’t even have room to keep my suitcase open. Also the only window looked into a pit and barely got any light. So it felt like night all the time. Definitely not 150-200 euros a night!

The hotel is very traditional and beautiful but I gave a medium rating due to my final encounter. While the front desk was alright I asked the concierge on the evening of the 5th to call me a taxi. He agreed and proceeded to tell me that the taxi he had called had parked round the corner pointing out to a black MPV. He told me to walk up (5-10) mins and that it was for me. I thanked and tipped him but upon walking with my heavy luggage the driver said he was a private hire for the hotel he was parked outside. The concierge there then proceeded to assist me with a taxi and luggage delivering the service the concierge at my hotel should have. As someone in the hotel industry myself this is unacceptable for a concierge to not call a taxi to a hotel entrance furthermore to lie and say he had called a taxi when he hadn’t and accept the tip. It’s one of the core services to a 4star hotel where they’ve failed terribly. Furthermore if the kind concierge from the other hotel hadn’t helped me I would have wasted time looking for one with my luggage and got late for my flight

We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Roger in Barcelon

We had an incredible stay at the Hotel Roger de Llúria after our B&B turned out to be a poor choice for us. My wife booked the two rooms a single and a double. Room was nice, had a refrigerator and a large patio with a sliding glass door. Service was exceptional and everyone we met was gracious and friendly. If I could find a fault I would say the brunch was expensive 20 Euro’s per person. The carpet in our room was clean but probably could be replaced. We found out later in our stay that the Hotel Roger was next door to the older Ritz in Barcelona and the Hotel Roger was a part of the old Ritz. We stayed on the fifth floor and we were close to our friends B&B and near the Gothic center.
I would strongly recommend this hotel for your first visit to Barcelona or a second trip, if you are looking for a great hotel.

Stayed here for 2 nights In August. Extremely welcoming staff upon arrival. Having stayed here previously we knew what to expect. Small boutique hotel located in ideal location for all sights. Safe not working on arrival, but fixed in minutes by the hotel porter. Excellent service.
Only disappointments were, not enough irons and lack of basic cleaning in our room, to the point all the rubbish from the bins were left in the room and not hoovered. Small point, but attention to detail.
Definatly will return and certainly recommend this hotel to be away from the hustle and bustle of the busy city.

A little disappointing for the price

The terrace with \"City view\" looked directly at the a/c units of the building opposite. I guess that's a city view but not what I was expecting. The terrace didn't even have a parasol so wss utterly unusable in such hot conditions. The bathtub had a chip in the enamel and a handle missing. The carpet while vaccuumed adequately had not seen a shampoo in quite some time. The cleaners cart seemed to live outside our room, not just when in use, we had to ask several times for it to be stored in its proper place.
The general terrace (as opposed to the private room one) was closed for refurbishment.

The personnel were excellent, always polite, friendly and willing to help or provide advice, no complaint there.

Overall, for a 4 star hotel I expected better conditions and was rather disappointed.

Loved everything about this hotel!

I came in early after my flight, just to drop off the luggage since it was 3 hours before the check in time - and they gave me a room right away, upgraded it to a room with the terrace - without me even asking. I was under impression that they tried to make our stay as pleasant as possible from the day one. Nice comfortable room with extras - slippers, toothbrush, comb, razor on top of usual shampoo and lotion - no hair conditioner which was not a big deal since there are plenty of small markets around which carry travel size products on top of everything else.
Very good breakfast buffet, good variety - I would recommend to try it at least once.
Great place, very safe - the hotel itself and surrounding area.

It was the time of the referendum for separation and we were both part of it and yet safely away from any problems.

Nothing special. No desk in the room. Or room for 4 people had two beds were side by side like a super-king size one, which made it hard for the two people in the middle to get in and out in the middle of the night. I love hotel breakfast so we went to check it out, but it was Incredibly mediocre (no fresh bread?!) and they wanted to charge 20 Euros! We went across the street instead.

This hotel sits on top of a hill in the Costa Brava region of Spain. The view and the hotel staff are both wonderful! We loved this charming hotel and restaurant! The food was very, very good! The beds were harder than my preference and the A/C was a bit touchy (too hot and then too cold) but most of the time it was most enjoyable to just have the doors open to experience the breeze and location! Some rooms don't have A/C. The hotel manager was very helpful and always smiling when she greeted us. One of the waitresses seemed to anticipate our needs and took pleasure in making our stay more enjoyable. We used the pool every day- it is an infinity pool. A highlight of our trip was a sunset dip in the infinity pool overlooking the village below! We were alone and the sunset was spectacular.

Very well placed hotel: nice area, easy walking distance from most attractions, nice restaurants within a few minutes’ walk . Staff waere very helpful and friendly. Room relatively comfortable and fairly clean albeit on a the small slight and in need of refurbishment. Bathroom towels were very old, one of the bathrobes we found in the wardrobe had several holes in it. There wasn’t enough hanging space for two people and no drawers at all, so we had to most of the clothes in suitcases or hang them over the chairs. There was an unnecessarily big , old Jacuzzi bath in the bathroom, surrounded by tiles with mouldy grout , and an enormous sink, which did not leave much room to stand or to walk through. There were no hook for the bathrobes, so we had to leave them on the armchairs in the room, to free up couple of coat hangers in the wardrobe. Despite all this was a pleasant enough stay , and not bad value for the money considering the loacation.

Nice two night stay at Roger de Lluria

Hotel staff was great, very accommodating, excellent location. Beds were comfortable. We had a room facing the back, nice and quiet. Room was booked for three, had two doubles and a twin. Nice cafe right across the street, nice restaurant just down to the left if you don't feel like walking any further (no need to).

Staff was very nice, rooms are in a very good shape and the location is pretty good (5 minutes walk from las ramblas).
The wifi in the hotel doesn't work very well and it broke down several times. In addition most of the rooms are twin rooms so make sure that if you need a room for a couple you indicate it in your reservation.

Older hotel, but still maintains a quiet elegance. Friendly staff. We were happily surprised on arrival to learn that they had given us a free room upgrade as we were travelling on our honeymoon. Beautiful large room with a separate room for suitcases and hanging our clothes. Bed was two queen beds put together and was comfortable. Lovely large bathroom with jacuzzi tub and shower - only problem was no shower curtain, so floor got wet every time we showered. Great location for walking to many key attractions and neighborhoods, and only a couple blocks from metro. Market was also nearby to grab waters.

My BF and I arrived to find that Expedia had requested a twin room for us. This was not on our email booking confirmation nor something we requested but had been provided to the hotel. Hotel staff initially told us it was not possible to change to a double room and we would have to wait until the next day (5 day stay) but assured us we would be happy because the 2 beds were pushed together. After being told this was the only room and checking us into it we went to the room unhappy. We went back to ensure they would change our room the following day. At this point we were told another room was now available. Then a few issues because we had already used the toilet of apparently the only available room in the hotel but we got our room eventually. The staff could have checked this from the start of our check in and avoided many conversations. There was one understanding and helpful staff member. The others did not seem interested to help fix the problem. Other than that it was a fine stay. Bed was a bit hard which has also pulled down my review of this hotel.

We travel and need to keep connected to our business. This hotel advertised wired connections in each room. This was untrue as there were no wired connections in the hotel. WIFI was abysmal. Work area was a small desk and only 1 electrical outlet available in wall 2 meters from desk. If you need to stay connected, then stay away from this hotel.
However if you are primarily a tourist, then this hotel would be a good find. Very large rooms given the price range. Fixtures were modern and hot water shower flow was excellent. TP is of the sheet kind (I personally don't like). Towels were excellent. Grand Old Dame of a hotel with charm. Staff was mostly indifferent to slightly helpful. I think this would be an excellent choice for family traveling.

How to rate this hotel is a quandary -- as a business hotel it fails completely and that was primarily what we were looking for and specifically sought out. However, if you are just a tourist, then this would be a pretty good find. So overall I'm giving it a 3.
