Our stay was excellent overall. Our reception by Karen was top notch...every hotel would be lucky to have such a person receiving their guests. So friendly and helpful. The room was well designed and stocked, including a little fridge, though the room itself was a pretty small but not unusually so. Great location for restaurants and shopping and only a few minutes walk to the heart of the Gothic Quarter.

What a wonderful find! Yes the rooms are small. But the place is magical. It feels like you are a treasured relation that your hostess wants to make sure your stay is perfect in all ways. A central location. A coffee machine and small refrigerator for your use in the break room. A total of eight rooms. You are given keys not only for your room but also for the huge ancient wooden exterior doors and glass doors in the building lobby. The entire hotel is located on the second floor, with elevator access.

Overall, had a lovely one night stay. The gentleman that received us (Brayko) was extraordinarily helpful, sweet, and interested in our experience (despite us being in a rush when we arrived). The bedding was comfortable, the towels were large and fluffy, there were bottles of water and chocolates waiting for us, the common area has nespresso pods and tea - a bunch of nice little touches. The location is convenient (we wanted somewhere close to the aerobus for getting to and from the airport).
A few points to note:
- when arriving, it is critical to communicate with reception because they will not be waiting for you unless you tell them when you'll be there (we learned this the hard way)
- we booked through hotels.com, but they did not receive confirmation of my payment (I had booked about 24h prior) and this created a little bit of check in drama

I contacted the property manager and I was asked to try the keys over and over again but they were totally wrong keys.
Luckily after a while somebody came out from the building and I was able to enter. Just when I was about to leave and book an other place to stay, a friendly person returned to reception and handed me the right set of keys.
I ended up missing one important meeting because of the key mess. Which I’m very sad about.
No actual apology or any sort of refund offered by the manager. They had a day off!

Wonderful location, especially for visiting the Gaudí Casas! Very friendly and helpful staff (and superb with at least 4 languages: English, French, Catalan, and Spanish). Clean and bright! My ONLY complaint is because I have a fat butt and the toilet in my particular room was so close to the shower, I felt a bit cramped. But that was a minor inconvenience.

The area around is great, but unfortunately I was extremely disappointed with the rooms and the hotel. Let me start by clarifying that this is not a hotel, but a motel. This was my fault because I did not read where it said Postal and not hotel On the name of this place. We were supposed to just be 3 of us in the motel, but last minute we added an extra persons so we called the motel and told us it was fine and they would just add an extra bed. They gave us 2 full beds and 2 extra extremely small beds. We barely had any room to walk and the bathroom was really small. I am still in shocked I stayed in a place like this.

Service 5* - From booking to check in was a seamless journey. We were contacted by the Hostal as soon as it was confirmed to confirm the time of arrival and directions from our port of arrival, which was a great touch. Check in was quick and easy, and within 20mins, we were back out the door again. Jean at the reception was particularly helpful, offering useful tips on the more local things to do and see around the vicinity and marking them carefully onto our map.
Rooms 5* - The room itself was big – it was just my husband and I that stayed, but we got a room with a double and single bed. The room was very clean, and the bathroom was lovely. They provided toiletries and towels, which is always a plus. There’s a TV and free Wi-Fi. The windows are soundproof, so there was no sound coming through from the streets.

Hostal Barcelona Centro is AMAZING! This is NOT a traditional Hostal environment but more a boutique-type hotel for a few very fortunate guests. Clean - everything appeared new! The front desk staff was helpful, available and friendly. The hostal is centrally located and a short walk from the main bus station (the airport bus is VERY do-able)...We felt safe and it was a great location to start our vacation.

Fabulous building in a very central part of Barcelona. We had a double bed room with en suite bathroom. There is air conditioning and a comfortable double bed. In the common lounge there is a coffee machine for 1Euro but you can borrow a kettle and there is a communal fridge freezer of you want to keep milk or drinks cool. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

It was exactly what we expected according to the reviews we had read. Location was great. Service was great. Paul was very attentive and helpful with all information we needed. Everything worked perfectly and you can’t ask for anything more for the money paid. Elevator was very small but worked great. The room was on the small side but we knew to expect that. Bathroom had a nice shower and there were plenty of towels. TV and WiFi were good. All in all,would recommend this little hostal if you want a nice clean place in the heart of the city without breaking the bank. Only unfortunate incident (and it had nothing to do with the hotel) is that the taxi they insisted on calling for us (not the one we requested) tried to charge us 7.20 Euros before we even took off from the front door. The driver alleged that they had to charge from the moment they left their base. We have travelled enough to know this was a ripoff so we didn’t take that taxi and hailed one at the corner without any problem. So beware！

After we checked out and left for the airport, my son found that he forgot his favorite toy at the room. We called the hostal, and they helped and shipped the toy to our home. Our first experience with staying at a hostal. This one exceeded expectations. We had a room with private washroom. It was like staying at a hotel! Clean and quiet location but yet close to site including the wonderful Sagrada Familia. Our room was nice and quiet, overlooking a large central courtyard not used at night and the beds were very comfortable. This location is fantastic, you are in the city center, near the transportation hubs connecting you to the airport shuttle as well as city metro. Tourist sights are just minutes away but it is off the main street so you can still find phenomenal local restaurants and cafes!

Cecile went out of her way to contact me and express mail a cosmetic kit with my medications that I left in the bathroom and I received on my next stop on my itinerary. Ok. Let's get over the fact that this is Europe and unless you are paying a fortune , the rooms will be small, really small by US standard. The shower was probably the smallest shower I have ever been in! BUT. This is clean and comfortable and quiet. It is in the best location. Just in the main shopping street in Barcelona, think NY 5th Ave.It is also near all the sights and great for tours, walking, get the metro etc.
The receptionist was really helpful, he recommended a great place for chocolate and Churros..2euros!we also booked tickets to see Sagrid familia and through the hotel avoided lines and booking fees. A great little place right near to all the action in Barcelona.

Our first urban vacation and this is the place to begin. Inside & out, we enjoyed the experience. Jean & Cecile are so knowledgeable and helpful with access to various sites and events. As with most of the world, many aspects of accommodation, non-historicals locations are not comfortable for larger people. We loved this hotel!

we have three nights stay. the room is clean, quiet and spacious (in European standards). great location in the city center. one block to metro and renfe train stations. the most valuable asset of this hostal is it's staff. They are very friendly and helpful. Cecile is go beyond and above to provide excellent customer service. Outstanding! I would definitely recommend to this hostal to anyone.

Although just outside the more in-demand area of the Gothic quarter, the Hostal Barcelona Centro is still close enough without the heavy premium to be a great base for all the main Barcelona attractions. Friendly helpful staff, clean rooms and a beautiful building. Highly recommended for a stay.

We stayed for one week in September 2015. The staff spoke English, which was a help. The location is excellent: just a few blocks to Casa Batllo and the metro and lots of great open-air restaurants. The room and bed were comfortable and the room was cleaned very well each day. There was noise during the day from construction on the floor below (NOT the fault of the Hostal), but things were nice and quiet at night.

Spent two nights in Barcelona following a cruise. The hostel was in an ideal location for restaurants, shops and attractions. There was a great place across the road for breakfast. The room was very functional and the bed was comfortable. The young man on reception was extremely helpful throughout our stay. We will definitely book this place when we visit Barcelona again.

The hotel is a hidden gem in Barcelona. Located in just under 2mins walk to metro, it can get noisy if assigned to a street front room. But the owner relocated us to another rooms which was appreciated. The reception was nice and helpful. The wifi was really fast all the time. I would definitely come back.

Its near to aerobus stop if you come from the airport. Walking distance to barcelona cathedral, gothic area, ramblas, casa milo, casa battlo. But u need to take metro to Sagrada familie, park guel, etc, but no problem as these attractions are so near and accessible. Its near to fast food like Subways, Mcdons, Pan & Co, etc.

If you are staying here, do not expect a 5 star hotel experience, however the accommodations were clean and comfortable while the staff was extraordinarily helpful and kind. I was having trouble with the key and was worried about staying out late. The hotel owner told me not to worry and that if I had any problem, even if it was very late, that he lived 5 minutes away and would come over to help if there was a problem. Imagine that! The location was perfect and within walking distance of all sites and/or modes of public transportation. The owner arranged a taxi for me to take me to the airport b/c I was leaving at 4am, but if you are traveling during more normal hours, the bus to the airport is a 2 minute walk from the hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Barcelona, you just have to remember this is a local place and not a big 5 star chain hotel. As a bonus, there is an elevator if you have heavy bags.

'Hostal Barcelona Centro' isn't a hotel and really isn't a hostel although it is quite central if you like walking. It is a series of bedrooms and one lounge in half of the first floor of a large building. It is difficult to find unless you take notice of the specific number of the building rather than looking for a hotel/hostel entrance and spotting the name amongst the list of other occupants on the right hand side of the main door. The staff are lovely (especially the very helpful young French woman on the desk) and the room comfortable and clean. The building is on a busy road but then Barcelona is a very busy place. The area has lots of restaurants and not far from a metro.

We chose to visit Barcelona this year and so checked the web for some decent hotels/hostals right in the centre of the city, so that we were close to all the landmarks and nightlife. I can say confidently this was one of the best places I've stayed abroad. The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful, with good English, and the place was spotless.

Of course the best feature by far about this hostal was the fact that the Plaça de Catalunya and the heart of Barcelona were literally 5 minutes' walk away. With supermarkets nearby and a pharmacy up the street there's everything and more you could need right on your doorstep, perfect for exploring the city on foot.
I would fully recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Barcelona for the first time like us or for those returning again.

Stayed one night with wife and young son as we were touring Catalunya & Valencia region. Loved this hotel, Carmen at check-in was very friendly and we were given a suite with balcony for €80! Location is great, right next to a little plaza with a fountain and bars/restaurants and just one block from town hall square. Will definitely stay here again, no question. This is the second time I've stayed here. The first time I found it a little noisy but I was by the elevator, so make sure you request a more isolated room as the walls are a little thin. This time we only heard a screaming baby (but I think that's unavoidable at any hotel). Beds were comfy, room was clean, nice new bathroom and friendly staff.
