Stayed for 5 nights…The location was excellent, so close to the Gothic Quarter! Lots of coffee shops, restaurants nearby. Lobby was very nice. Large area decorated beautifully with lots of tables, chairs & couches. Staff was very nice and helpful. Rooms were super clean! Only complaint was drinking water in lobby was not always available. Also, at night before going to my room I asked for some coffee pods numerous times at the front desk (knowing I didn’t have my room serviced that day) and they never had any to give me saying they were out.

We had a great stay! Hotel was clean, staff were friendly, rooms were spacious. Slippers and robes and plenty of toiletries available were a nice touch!
Location was walking distance to the beach and tons of dining options, area felt safe even when arriving late.
Breakfast was 15 euro per person and had a great selection.
Overall had a great stay!

My stay at Via Laietana in Barcelona

Overall the hotel was ok. The staff were very friendly, helpful and approachable. The TV in my bedroom only had Spanish channels. I was expecting the hotel to have different channels as it's an executive hotel. I asked if i could have some English channels added to the Television, the engineer came had a look, went away with another remote then disappeared never to be seen again. Secondly I had to call reception at night as my air conditioning was blowing hot air, the receptionist tried to fix it but brought a table fan.

Drainage in the shower and sink in my bathroom was not great which meant the shower overflowed. Also quite a noisy road, but earplugs worked brilliantly!

It is an ideal place to stay if you can figure out the trains and buses. There are lots of stops located around the hotel. It is a very brief walk to the Cathedral, and if you're a Rick Steves fan, the start of his 2 walks for Barcelona are within a 15 minute.

Well located for our needs, underground car park a few minues walk away. This was the second time we stayed in this hotel and we just felt that it was not such good value for money. The bathroom basin didn't drain so we wondered how it had been cleaned with no-one noticing this and the TV turned itself on and had to be unplugged to switch off. Would probably use a different hotel next time. Just a bit disappointing and sad.

Not 4 star hotel!

The room was ok, it is not a 4 star hotel, maybe one time it was, but is very outdated, curtains are stain or durty, shower did drained well and when informed to the front desk the sent their technician and he responded that is was a problem that needed so kind of drainage liquid and it was strong we he was going to wait until he have checked out, meanwhile we had to stay with that shower that didn't drain well and it smelled the room like sewerage. Also there was stain of soap in the shower tiles and the shower head had mildew. AC thermostat was broken as well, Breakfast is ok and the bed sheet and floor at least was clean. I'm guessing that because of location the price, but one thing is for sure is no 4 star hotel! I'm trying to upload photos of everything listed in this comment, but is not letting me.

Great location for a Barcelona weekend

Hotel was well located - ideal for walking to all the main spots around Barcelona and close to the beach also. Our main issue was the size of the room - it was very small, just wide enough for a double bed and 2 bedside lockers. Our hearts sank when we opened the door. Bathroom was great though, very big with nice toiletries. Breakfast was fine, usual continental selection and plenty of it. I would stay again but only if I got the room for a cheaper rate, it was definitely not worth €200 approximately per night

We booked a double bed, however we were given two singles, this was swiftly sorted and they provided us with a double. However after a few hours we soon realised the bed was made up of two singles and a very lumpy duvet to hold it together. We had terrible nights sleep unfortunately. Maybe next time just tell us we don’t actually have double beds. Otherwise this hotel is great in every way!

The property is in a great location, near the gothic quarter and marina, with lots of shops/places to eat nearby. The staff were friendly when I checked in and I was given a triple room when I booked a double. I wouldn't have minded the extra space but I didn't really want to sleep on a single bed and there were 3 singles in the room.

My primary issue was with the cleanliness of the room. The rainfall shower head was so disgusting- covered in green/black mould that I was scared to use it. The hand-held shower sprayer was cleaner. Someone had also left a dirty sock on the wall-hook in the bathroom. It is worrying that cleaners did not see it or remove it.

We chose this hotel due to its location. It’s in the gothic quarter and within walking distance to lots of main sights. There’s plenty of choice of bars and restaurants right on the doorstep. Barcelona North Bus Station (Barcelona Nord Estació d’autobusos) is just under 20min walk. Jaume I underground station is a few minutes walk. It’s also very close to the port.
We were very lucky as we were given an amazing room at the back of the hotel overlooking the old walls. We even had a large completely private terrace overlooking the city. We did not experience any road noise or noise from any neighbours so having read some of the reviews regarding road noise we felt very lucky.
The room was very large, clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly.

I booked a \"Double Or Twin Room\" for 4 nights. The room is advertised as having a city view. We were on the first floor facing the back of the hotel and the only view we had was a big wall (no view of the city). The rooms are advertised as having a bathtub, it didn't have one. It had a leaky shower. Being on the first floor, we could hear the noise of people on the street until 2 am.
Simply put, we paid extra but did not get the room that was advertised and that's disappointing.

Stayed here in Barcelona for a few nights on our honeymoon.

Nice hotel. I'd rate the cleanliness of the room maybe a 8.5/10.

Staff were friendly. There were two girls at reception that helped us plan our day trips. They are there 24/7. They recommended a nice, safer, and less touristy beach a few metro stops away where there are mostly locals.

The location was perfect. Just a 5-10 minute walk to Las Ramblas, Plaza Catalunya, and Parc de Citudella. Metro is down the street for easy access to the whole city. Surrounded by great food and cute coffee shops.

This hotel is right in the thick of it on Via Laietana, surrounded by great restaurants, fantastic shopping, a minute's walk to the metro, 5 mins to the cathedral, 15 mins to the seafront, and backs onto a section from the old Roman Wall. Staff were fantastic, room comfortable and we couldn't have hoped for a better experience.

The location of the hotel is fantastic. The staff are beyond nice and helpful. The room was nice and the cleaning staff did a great job at tidying up the room every day.

There was no kettle in the room, I think adding one would be good.
The room is not soundproof, and you get a lot of noise from other rooms (babies crying at night). The door to the bathroom is a glass door that does not shut completely, and does not give you privacy while in the bathroom.
Other than those r dislikes, it was a great stay at the hotel!

Overall this is a great hotel. Great location, clean and modern, and has a great breakfast buffet. But the WIFI...wow. We've traveled all over Europe and we've had some sketchy wifi from time to time, but I would say this is likely the worst we have experienced - and we saw many other reviews that stated the same. My fault for booking knowing past reviews, but they seemed a bit older and made the assumption that improvements may have been made. We had to go to the Irish Pub next door and use their wifi to even try to get locations mapped out or check e-mails. Again, I would likely give 4-5 star review, but the WIFI is very important travelers and should not be overlooked.

I liked the character of the hotel and it was in a very good location in the Barcelona Gothic Quarter for shopping and finding nice restaurants.
The room itself was nice, a little different because we were on the sixth floor with no windows where we could not see out, just skylights that we really did not want to open the shades since it was hot in Barcelona and opening the shades would heat up the room. However the air conditioning did work very well keeping the room comfortable, especially for sleeping.
The bathroom did have a bathtub-shower combination, which was nice. But the tub was very high and was difficult getting in and out of it . Elderly people who may not be as mobile would be challenged getting in and out of the tub without injuring themselves.
Overall, the room was adequate and we were happy with our hotel. If I returned to Barcelona I would consider the same hotel, but request a different room.

Excellent location right near the metro and in the Gothic area which was amazing. Very clean rooms... But very compact but didn't matter too much as only 2 of us and we were out all day. No in Room facilities for coffee/tea making. If you just want a clean base to stay in a perfect area of Barcelona then this is great but not the most luxurious.
Shops just round the corner and patisseries and cafes within 100 yards which was good.

Great location, staff lovely and very helpful. Noise travels very easily from above room when it is getting cleaned, as you can hear chairs and other objects being dragged across the floor, apart from that you won’t hear your neighbours. Room needed more easily accessible plug sockets and shower leaked but good water pressure when showering. I was happy with the size of the room. Few minutes walk get the train or bus easily to other major locations. Would stay again and book earlier.

I had a beautiful view from my room, everything was within walking distance. The beds were like sleeping on a bed of bricks, the breakfast never changed, was expecting a deep tub as described but only had a stand alone shower. There was a windlow in our bathroom that opened to see the storage in a tower...strange.
Definitely need new beds!!

There is no air conditioning in the rooms, couldn’t open windows either because of the noise outside. Didn’t get any sleep for 2 nights , tiny room was hot as sauna and had bad smell. Worse than average 3-star hotel in US. How #hotels.com tolerate this hotel claiming airconditioned rooms as a first amenity listed - I don’t understand. The manager said that it is only ventilation. I could complain about 10 other things but sleepless nights in hot smelly room take the spotlight!

What we love about this hotel was the location. It is walking distance from gothic area and several monuments. The staff was very helpfull and friendly. On the other hand, the halls and room had some funy smell and the bed/mattress was extremely hard and old. But, overall, is a good place to stay. If you want it to be quiet - request a non streey facing room.

The property was really nice, great location and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Although it's right in the Gothic Quarter, there was no noise from the street, however, the metro line does run under the hotel so our room shook when it went by. The bathroom was updated with a rain head in the shower (So nice!). My only complaint is that the hotel was very warm and the thermostat didn't seem to work so we were a little overheated at night.

Tiny room, nothing works, and no sleep from noises

Check in was easy and the front desk guy was great. Walked into the room and it was like a shoe box small. Smaller than New York standard small. The hot water didn’t work well, the toilet didn’t work well. When they finally came to fix water, it went from not hot water to only boiling hot water. During our whole stay there, there wasn’t 1 night that we got sleep. People were screaming and fighting and hotel didn’t seem to do much getting under control. By second night police came and escort those guests out, only to have more noise issues. One of my worst stay ever.

The location is excellent and very central to many great attractions. Some of the rooms are very, very small. However, the staff was accommodating and allowed us to change to a larger room. There are no coffee makers/coffee in the rooms, and although the lobby has a seating area, there are no beverages available there either. It would have been nice if they at least had coffee. Street noise and noise from neighbouring rooms was a little annoying. But it was generally clean and comfortable otherwise.
