Safestay Gothic is a lovely hostel in the very centre of the city. We're located just 150 metres from the Picasso Museum, only two minutes walk to Las Ramblas.
We've designed the hostel to combine privacy with comfort. All the beds have their own plug and a locker.
Rates include the bottom sheet. Additional linen, towels can be rented for €2.
We offer a free Wi-Fi connection. Breakfast with coffee, tea, milk, juice, cereal, fruit and toast has an extra charge of 2€.
You can meet tons of people and listen to music in our huge common room, which also has vending machines. We have tons of activities going on, with walking tours, sports, parties, and much more!
Barcelona is a city of charming streets, busy with people and full of life. The old town, comprising the Gothic quarter, the Rivera and Raval districts, is famed for its historical monuments, narrow streets and bohemian atmosphere.
The city also has the biggest selection of modernist architecture; most of these buildings are in the Eixample district which constitutes a unique model of European urban planning. Barcelona is the only European capital with over four kilometres of beaches where you can enjoy the most modern amenities and these beaches are not far from Barcelona's historical landmarks, and they have opened up our modern and cosmopolitan city to the sea.
The Safestay Gothic is one of the Safestay Hostels all around Europe. Persons under the age of 18 are only allowed to stay in private rooms or dormitory rooms that are booked for use of one family or group of persons, and can't share dormitory rooms with other guests.
People under 18 years of age must travel with their parents or legal tutor.

Property was very clean and quite cute, was quiet after about 22-23h. Seperate men’s and women’s showers, felt very safe. Honestly our biggest issue was that some roommates were not very lovely but overall everything was great!

Payment problem.
There was a problem with payment. I had already paid for the hostel through hotels.com. The hostel said they never received payment from hotels.com. So the hostel charged my card for the stay which was an unauthorized charge. After all the confusion, hotels.com said they would refund my onekeycash $34.65 which as of two days later they have not. We will see.

Really liked this hostel, despite being on the cheaper side. Paper towels in bathroom always a plus, very clean. Lockers outside of room, but I found this convenient and preferable to being inside the room. Top bunks don't have charging capabilities. WiFi would continually require you to re-sign in and view an ad, even in the middle of using it, quite inconvenient at times. Rooftop terrace very spacious to get work done or work out. Also, there is a large laundry room that works for a secluded, quiet location when the terrace is closed. Location of this hostel is great. Barcelona in general is very walkable, and from here even long walks have a lot to see.

The rooms are too small for 12 beds and therefore too noisy and smell bad whenever someone uses the WC.
The lockers are located outside of the rooms, just in a corridor, they are too small to carry a hand luggage and back pack and everyone sees you while you are changing,
The showers are also away from the lockers and the rooms, so taking a shower was quiet embarrassing.
The best part about this stay is that the lady sleeping next to me stole my iPhone while sleeping, hopefully the stuff helped me to get it back from her.

The breakfast area was very beautiful. Staff was super friendly and helpful and knowledgable about the city. I loved that there were plenty of outlets in the bathroom and bedrooms. I wish they sold adapters and basics like toothpaste. It would be nice to have girls and guys separate. People tend to just change without warning. Also it would be nice if the beds near the wall had a curtain on the wall side. When those people turn on their light at night, it wakes up everyone.

Toilets were really dirty and my room had the pipes exposed in the ceiling, which meant that every time someone upstairs flushed the toilet or opened the tap at 2-4 am, we would all hear a loud noise in the room.

My bed was not clean, same as the toilets. Toilets were very scarce and the one in my room could not be even locked. Not that it matters when you cant even use it because it is disgustingly dirty.

Recently reformed hostel, so everything is working well and in good condition. Very good beds. Beach and main attractions all at walking distance. Wide choice of restaurants, bars and clubs nearby. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Overall it was a good experience, I went to use the shower downstairs on my last day before checking out and the showers were not working or the water had been shut off, I didn't like that at all. I got fed up and just wanted to get out of there.

It’s very loud, the floors are wooden and every noise echos. The bunks are very high up if you get a top bunk. Showers are ok. Not very many toilets. Overall I probably wouldn’t stay here again but it wasn’t the worst hostel I’ve been too.

I spent 3 nights here! The 16 bed dorm where I stayed wasn't the most luxurious place in the world to sleep (obviously), but the location is very good, and the price is right. There were bathrooms in the dorm, but the showers were down the hall.

A good hostel for the location
The location is good for walking to Catalunya Square and to Las Ramblas and Boqueria Market. The reception is really big and well lit. Wifi works just fine. The staff is extremely friendly! They messed up my reservation and I did not get my room in the 6-bed female dorm, but they gave me a free towel instead and placed me in a 8-bed female room. The shower stream is really good, so you get a good shower, but the shower shelves are pretty dirty, and full of garbage. Also the floor is really squeaky, to the point where you feel like you will sink through the floor, and wake up everyone on the way.

(Walls, floors, bathroom, bed room) the bedrooms were feeezing cold I had to sleep with my jacket on every night, and There was no wifi in the bed room. The hostel is in an excellent location, between the Cathedral and Picasso museum. I was able to walk everywhere. The staff aren’t the friendliest or most helpful. The rooms have no curtains so the streetlights fill the room with light and sound insulation is non existent. Generally not a good venue with stained bed sheets.

For a place to only sleep...
The hostel price was unbelievably low so as I was on a budget I decided to stay. The place wasn’t very clean and there was a bad smell coming from the showers... like mildew or something else. But again, if looking for a cheap place to crash with no expectations it’s fine.

Safe and Satisfying
I would recommend safestay to most but particularly those travelling alone. The staff are friendly and attentive, the location is central but in a nice area, the common area is big and so easy to meet other people. The beds aren't particularly comfortable but hostel beds never are. I did love that your sleeping area is private not just a load of bunk beds. They have actually built a structure meaning you get as close to a bedroom of your own as possible while remaining in the cheapest hostel I've ever found in Barcelona.
My only complaint would be 'cooking facilities and bar', neither of these things exist in the hostel except a microwave and kettle.
My overall safety and enjoyment here however is the best I've found in Barcelona!

It's a hostel, but then again it doesn't claim to be anything else. You do however get a lot for the small price you pay. The location is perfect. Just across the road from the metro and gothic quarter. Las Rambles is only a few minutes walk away. Also, a breakfast is included. I have travelled around the world and this place has one of the most friendliest, helpful group of staff I have come arcoss. All in all, a great friendly place to rest your head at a great price.

Be aware this hotel is a youth hostel,which means you gotta share room and bathroom.Also,comfort/quietness will depend on people staying with you. But if you know how youth hostels are, it would be good place to stay.Very good location. the bed sheet/cover/pillow case will be given upon check-in. There was no A/C, but I could open window. might be hard in the summer. you should bring a pad lock or combination key if you wanna use a safe-not fancy one. they have 3 computers which staying guests can use. you can get free minutes at front desk-got 20min when i stayed.if needed more, you can buy them.

A localização do hostel é o ponto alto da estadia, perto de vários metrôs, restaurantes, lojas, museus, cafés etc. Ambientes muito limpos, parabéns a todos. Não tive muito conforto, pois não tinham cortinas nas camas, o hostel é um pouco barulhento e não tem nenhum apoio no banheiro para tomar banho, ou seja, não tem um banco ou prateleira para apoiar nossas coisas, dificultando todo o processo.

J'ai beaucoup aimé la gentillesse du personnel, leur conseils, leur avenance. La localisation de l'établissement est idéal, proximité de la plupart des lieux d interets (Rambla, Gothique, plages..). L'offre d'animation est géniale aussi. Ce que j'aurais aimé c'est des dortoirs plus confortables et une prise pour chaque dortoir! Mais globalement c'est un super établissement, j y retournerais!

Bonne situation a Barcelone. Belle salle commune et petite cuisine a disposition. Par contre le dortoirs souffre d'une ventilation climatisation insuffisante pour 20 personnes . Les lits trop proche les un des autres de plus il sont métallique avec grincement. Les douches pas pratique et mal entretenu sont sale.
