This was a great location for sightseeing as well as a lovely resort for relaxing in. The staff were friendly. The food offerings appeared to be varied. We do not usually stay in resorts so this was a bit of a culture shock but we enjoyed it anyway

Had a really great two weeks here at Le Telfair. Spa facilities were excellent. I have enjoyed the best massage and reiki treatments. Staff here work hard and are always friendly and helpful. We have loved it.

I wrote ahead of time with the request of a room in a quiet area. Request was completely ignored, they assigned one just next to the main restaurant. We asked to be moved, but final room was next to the kitchen.
As we do not use WhattsApp, they could not give us right away the program of the activities. Our resident host, after several reminders and complaints, provided us with a printed version only 3 DAYS after. The service at the main restaurant was chaotic, rude, and felt like a hostel service with waiters just hanging around watching their phones and leaving guests to remove their empty plates to go on with their meal.
The beach is very windy. On the side of the C Club restaurant, the towels they give to guest are in the worst conditions and have to be returned by 5PM.
The worst part is that after the dinner at one of the restaurants of the Le Telfair (we were in half board and ate and drank only at at the property) of the 3rd night I got food poisoning. The next day I was feeling so bad (emesis, diarrhea, besides fever, we had to call in the hotel doctor, who diagnosed ACUTE GRASTROENTERITIS, gave me an injection and prescribed several me medicaments. The hotel - besides lifting two days meal cost for one person from the final bill (which moreover was wrong with charges of food we did not consume and which did not lifted the costs of two dree drinks as by booking) - has denied any responsibility and refused to pay any compensation.

The hotel itself was excellent-exceeded my expectations and even the style and layout help you to switch off and lift your spirits. The beachfront junior suite was a perfect choice tor accommodation:

I thoroughly enjoyed my week here. A peaceful, beachfront locations with plenty of activities on offer and excellent food and wine to enjoy.

Would recommend a stay at Le Telfair to friends and family and encourage them to make good use of the golf while they are here.

Lack of staff hospitality training. It could be a great hotel but due to Mauritian society staff tend to prioritise white clientele over people of colour.
The chateau food was not great. Very poor service and average food. Food was generally quite salty and of average/poor quality in most of the restaurants.

We had a wonderful time with our two children at Heritage Le Telfair. Kids club and babysitting services were great. We managed to get an evening to ourselves at the adults only Indian restaurant where chef Harry Singh cooked up a delicious meal. Having Josh as our personal butler was fantastic, he ensured our every request was fulfilled without delay. Service in the restaurants and around the pool became a little slow as the resort became busier, so that could be an area for improvement.

My wife and I stayed here for 7 nights in February after having seen some recent press highlighting the hotel and new golf course. For context we stayed at The One & Only Saint Geran last year and have had 4 visits to Contance Belle Mare Plage over the last few years.

The short review is that the Telfair is not a 5* hotel, it’s really a 3* at best. The hotel itself is pretty however good and service completely let it down. The food quality across all the restaurants, except the Chateau, is poor and no where near Belle Mare despite it being more expensive. The service is even worse with staff seemingly trying to avoid getting their attention, forgetting orders and being totally confused, and even on an occasion being rude. The guest rooms are perfectly good, slightly old but clean and spacious, and the golf courses are good fun. If you don’t care about food/service and just want to play golf and swim in a pool then the Telfair may be fine for you.

Beautiful place to relax

Beautiful resort overlooking the sea. Quite spacious and well designed. Several good restaurants to choose from all with different styles, 3 swimming pools, some sailing boats etc to use, a basic spa and some tennis courts. Service generally helpful. Nice place to spend a few days relaxing and feeling pampered.

Excellent hotel in a beautiful surrounding; golf course outstanding; staff very well trained and customer oriented, however sometimes the last 5 percent in executing the service on the level of a leading hotel of a world is missing ; complaint management in all areas however excellent; different restaurants, vegetarian options could be in some places broader and more tasty; most of water sports and green fee included, which makes it convenient for the guest; very nice daily yoga classes and activity programs as well as an excellent equipped gym; also mountain bikes available, I did a nice ride up to Le Mourne. Coastal area around Bel Ombré with strong currents at this time of the year, I perceived the coast and beeches at the west coast around Le Mourne more beautiful, but that’s my personal view.

Too much hassle - pretentious

It is a gorgeous property and spacious rooms, but that's about the only good thing about our stay.

Everything is just way too much hassle with Telfair. Be prepared to face a mediocre, overprice food and having to book your dinners way ahead in their restaurants. The entire approach to how they manage this process is just far, far too much hassle for someone on a holiday. On the day of our arrival we were told - \"we'll send you the info to your phone\" about restaurants, options, activities etc which never came and we had to chase for it. Not a great start of the trip especially when you arrive late and are hungry, only to find that a) you can't get a table anywhere but at Anabella's (not suitable for vegeterians or children and overpriced), and the location of this hotel being to remote that you can't actually eat out either.
If i was to describe this hotel stay in one word, i'd say \"P

Great Hotel, Not So Great Staff

The hotel is optimally located within walk-diatance to Manhattan's Time Square. The facilities were very new. However, check-in was unpleasant and the staff was not very friendly. Same for check-out: when i asked for late check-out (and expressed willingness to pay). The reception staff made me feel unwelcomed. Otherwise, i enjoyed the hotel.

The hotel is situated in Bel Ombre, which is perfect for those who want to explore the nearby attractions such as the Black River Gorges National Park, Chamarel, or the many cascades.
Our 1st-floor suite had a balcony with views of the garden and the river. The room was spacious, measuring 60m²/650sqft, and equipped with all the standard amenities such as a minibar, safe, etc.
For our dining plan, we opted for the half-board package and had the opportunity to dine at several restaurants, including Annabella's, the main restaurant, the beach-front C Beach Club, Le Palmier, and Savana, which is the Heritage Awali's primary restaurant. The food quality was generally good to very good, and we were quite satisfied with the restaurants.
We had a blast trying out all three pools of the hotel, as well as the biggest one at Heritage Awali. They were all exceptionally clean, and we had so much fun.
The spa was truly outstanding, and we had an unforgettable couple's massage. The team was incredibly professional, the setting was beautiful, and the experience was perfect. There are also a few cabanas scattered throughout the gardens, making for an excellent nap spot. The hotel also has a gym and offers local land and water experiences, which we didn't try but are sure are just as fantastic as everything else we experienced.
The staff lived up to Mauritians' reputation for being warm and welcoming people. They went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.

We travelled as a family with a toddler and 4 adults and we all managed to find things to do. I would recommend taking the AI package and if possible do 7 nights as there is a lot to do at the resort and the island. The attention to details down to slippers for the toddler was wonderful.
The staff is very helpful and credit to our the young lady looking after our group Sharmine, she managed to keep track of the group and tried to make sure we got to try as much as we could with the kids and also as adults. If you decide to take trip to town Widley is ther person he is amazing and very knowledgeable about the island and made our outing one to remember.
Would I return? yes, is it children of all ages friendly? Yes.

It is a truly wonderful hotel, one of the nicest I have stayed in. It is a large acreage, beautifully maintained everywhere. The grounds are spectacular, extensive with mature trees and plants, winding paths, beautifully lit at night. Many interesting restaurants with a variety of foods. Service was top notch. All the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Our personal concierge, Ashni, managed every aspect of our stay. We met her daily, she was fantastic. You could not hope for anything more from a 5* hotel. It was full but with so much space it did not feel like it (plenty of available sunbeds by the beach!). As you'd expect its fairly pricey nonetheless great value.

Absolute Mauritian luxury !!

From the time you step into reception you are treated like royalty with personal attention beyond expectation. The grounds are beautiful and well kept with so many different areas to relax and enjoy. A wide range of entertainment options for all types of travelers. The food is excellent with various options and meal selections. The rooms are gorgeous with such fabulous decor and and comforts. Especially loved the coffee pods and the big balcony with a lovely view of the beachfront. Check in was quick and efficient with your personal programme set up by your guest relations assistant. This is a highly recommended hotel of a 5 star plus quality and you are guaranteed to come home relaxed and refreshed.

Fantastic 10 days at the resort where we tried all the restaurants and spa. Food was amazing with plenty of variety. The only watch out is the cost of alcohol if you're on half board as it can quickly add up. Beautiful sunset bar, fully equipped gym with cardio machines and weights.

Beautiful hotel but too ISOLATED

The hotel has beautiful rooms and site with a very pleasant staff. However it is too isolated and too expensive in comparison with other 5 stars hotels offering the same setting in the rest of the world. Indeed you constantly need to take a taxi to reach cities or restaurants or other hotels (35 min to 1h30 for the cities) and the taxi of the hotel (you cannot have access to normal taxi) are clearly taking advantage of it.
For instance we went there for the energy forum and the taxi were charging 50 euros (one way :((((- so 100 euros round trip) to reach the next hotel hosting the forum located at 15- 20 min.

Same experience concerning the local products at the hotel or the spa treatments which are more expensive than in Europe (including the fish of the island).

After one week of this treatment we left thinking that the site is amazing but the price way too much in comparison with other 5 stars hotel in the rest of this world.

The staff is really pleasant, however they are not delivering a 5 stars service. The room service was too slow for instance and there is ANY anticipation of your needs or wishes.

We will not return to this hotel and do not recommend it EXCEPT if you rent a car (maybe).But distance are really long to reach anything.

We had great experience in the hotel which exceeded our expectations in all the areas. Very friendly and helpful staff, was able to help with all our queries and give the best tips about travelling around.
Location, facilities and condition of the hotel again exceeded our expectations. The hotel definitely earns their five stars and more.
Our stay was complimented with little details and surprises every day which made our stay even more special.
Hotel offers many different activities so even in a rainy day there is plenty to do.

We loved this hotel, it has so much character and charm. It caters to families, so perfect for kids. The spa was amazing overall staff in the hotel are so sincere and very professional. The breakfast selection was fantastic it offered a wide range of foods. Would highly recommend this tranquil peaceful hotel to anyone. Can't wait to go back!

This hotel is absolutely perfect, and we loved everything about it! From end to end, everything was taken care of by our personal butler, Melvin, who pretty much manages your life during the stay, and it's great to be able to let go like that! For example, we were travelling with a baby, and Melvin made sure that we would get baby food, specially prepared fresh to order, wherever we would be at that time, which made our life so much easier. Staying at Le Telfair with a baby is a breeze, all the staff is super friendly, and we made good use of the baby daycare center, where the ladies were really sweet. Our room was also exceptional, on the ground floor right on the beach, and big enough so that we could have a little area especially for the baby. And the hotel had thought of everything, crib, stroller, bottle warmer, everything was there! The hotel grounds are gorgeous and it's really nice to walk around, The beach is stunning, and the main reason why we chose this hotel, apart from the baby club, was the kitesurfing center which is within the hotel. The center is amazing, beautiful flat water spot, with great launching and landing area, and super helpful staff. And it's right next to a great restaurant/beach club, all this only 5min walk away from our room! The food was also great, with a good choice of restaurant. In brief, everything was perfect, we loved everything about the hotel, and we can't wait to go back!

Nice hotel. Beach is not appopriate for swimming

The hotel itself is very nice - built in colonial style. It certainly needs some renovation, however even being non-renovated gives him special charm.

My only serious complaint about the room has been abundant presence of small insects in the room (and especially bathroom) - that didn't bother me that much, but may be important for someone else.

Hotel also has good facilities like golf, pools, gym, etc. so I would definitely advise it if you are planning to actively play golf on your vacation.

If however, you prefer to swim I wouldn't advise this hotel at all. The beach is not deep enough to properly swim - even if you navigate through initial obstacles you will face the coral reef after (which is good for snorkeling) but requires you to swim on your back and trying to avoid contacts with corals. After several trials to swim at the hotel I've gave up and went to Le Morne whenever I wanted to swim (got rental car). If you prefer to swim in pools - this should not be a problem.

In general, it's an ok hotel but don't go there if you want to swim in the ocean.

Serene, beautiful and hopsitable resort

My spouse and I had gotten the Junior Suite. It is a comfortable room near one of the pools with Ocean view. We found it comfortable and really liked the soaking bath and the outside shower. Our room had a butler service (the great Alan and Savilen) which took care of our requests for booking services and tracking things we needed with a smile and attention.

The atmosphere is very calm, the staff is smiling and caring, the ocean is great and the overall feeling is just ... vacation.

The food and drinks at the hotel are extremely expensive without the quality unfortunately. The rooms are large but need a bit of a refresh. The beds and pillows need to be reviewed as they aren't very comfortable. We also had the occasional blackouts and noisy air conditioning making it difficult to sleep. Staff also aren't the friendliest we'be met. They can occasionally come across quite rude. Ensure you tip them to receive a satisfactory service.

This hotel was everything I hoped for and more.The only thing golfers need to be aware of is the need to book tee times before arrival if they want good tee times.Much preferred the look of compared to Awali.Area is slightly remote,which people may prefer,but for people hiring cars the roads are a little narrow in places before getting on to the main roads down the spine and the more developed north.Service was exceptional with genuine concern well being of guests.Gourmet Bliss package was an expensive add on to half board.

Fantstic restaurants especially 'Ginja' the Asian fusion restaurant.
I can't eat wheat or soya so Asian food is generally a 'no go' for me .
I went there 4 times and they did something special for me 'off menu' each time. The food wouldn't be out of place in a central London location.

We highly recommend this hotel. Why? Read below

13 hours later we finally got into Heritage Le Telfair for a well-deserved holiday. Upon our arrival we felt welcomed with a friendly smile, a glass of lemon grass iced tea, & a smooth check-in process.

The first thing you'll notice is the Staff friendliness. Everyone’s so polite & friendly & always trying to please whenever they can. Attention to detail is great which makes your time there close to perfection. One of the best hotel teams I've seen.

The resort is classy, gorgeous, clean & spacious. The rooms are frequently cleaned during the day and the gardens are also well maintained. We've booked a room with ocean view & 408 was perfect!

There are 11 restaurants, & Le Telfair guests can use all (some by paying a supplement). Apart from the main restaurant, all others need pre-booking. Our favorites were Anabella's & Chateau.
Restaurants have a dress code. That’s ok but I personally found pointless to wear a t-shirt when having food on a beach restaurant.

There are plenty of activities to enjoy. A few for a supplement but most for free. You’ll never get bored!

For families with children, there's lots of space for them to play safely.

Finally, if you play golf the course is a must

Overall this was a wonderful week & it’s definitely a place to go back to in a near future!

Poor version of what it could have been

Sadly this hotel really isn't up to its billing. Whilst on the face of it it seems pretty good, there are just so many flaws that made our stay just a little less that ideal. The swimming is very restricted (about 5 metres in to the sea) and then you have speed boats going past at all times.

The setting is not secluded and the beaches run from one resort to the next, not really feeling secure - we certainly couldn't leave things out on our terrace. The food was extremely poor, with not a great selection, cocktails were unpleasant and whilst the staff were fine, they certainly weren't exceptional, particularly at the watersports area, where they were bordering on rude.

The only room that we were allowed to accommodate our two children was the smallest (seems odd!), and it felt cramped and dated.

On the plus side, the golf course (green fee included) was superb with fabulous vistas at every turn.

Try and book duribg their summer as the weather is changeable during july, aug . Would go back .

Heaven on earth...paradise redefined...awesome holiday experience....our best family vacation ever...a dreamcation! !!

Service standards par excellence...brilliant attitude of all staff on the resort, it's unreal...

The resort is the complete holiday destination....3 resorts, amazing golf club, beach club with all activities gratis for guests, over 12 restaurants and bars, a natural reserve called Frederica spread over an estate of 2500 hectares, breath-taking greenery and scenic beauty. ...and the beach and the many pools to choose from as part of the resorts

Full board culinary experience was awesome...fine dining at its best...Chef Prakash pampered us crazy so thanks a ton to him to make our vacation so special.

Housekeeping and turn down service in the evening virtually cleans up and tidies up the room twice a day. Thanks Deepa for making our room and making us feel at home.

Great hotel with fantastic service

The staff went above and beyond to make this a wonderful stay. They even laundered free of charge lots of clothes that arrived wet (after our airline brought our luggage wet) and gave us polo shirts and t-shirts for our first night as a courtesy.
The grounds are quite beautiful. The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated. The sea view rooms are worth the upgrade. The restaurants are pricey so a full board or half board package is very recommended.

Overall, we highly recommend it and we would love to return.

Great service, plenty to do for the family.

Excellent service. They all really care. Could not be faulted at all. Only downside is that food in main restaurant is very bland - looks fine but is under seasoned and unexciting. The food at its sister hotel is better.

Great Experience

We had a woderful stay at Telfair a couple of weeks ago; our room was very comfortable and very well serviced by the cleaning staff. Also the hotel is kept in a very good condition throughout and has very good facilities. The quality of the spa and its staff were second to none; apart from delivering a very high quality service the staff even went to the trouble of remebering our names after only couple of visits.

Our only complaint was about the restaurant staff and service- Telfair has quite poor restaurants which are not worthy of 5 stars in terms of food and service - more like 3 stars.Nency at Annabella restaurant was the only one that stood out -she was very nice and helpful. Luckily, having half board enabled us to dine at the sister hotels Awali and C Beach club where we found the variety and quality of food very good. Shyama from Awali was very helpful and accommodating - Telfair could do with more restaurant staff like her.
A final word of warning - the a la carte food in all hotels is very expensive- for a main meal you could be looking at upwards on US$70 per dish hence I would recommend either the full or half board options if you don't want to get ripped off. Enjoy your holiday!

A little \"Ritz Carlton\" in the Indian Ocean

We consider this hotel the best in Mauritius after visiting most of their hotels.
Excellent Service from all round, this hotel will not disappoint you as it's not our first time there.
Friendly crew, that made our stay wonderful and look forward coming back.
Not to forget, believe me, they've got the best chef in town.
You wouldn't regret it.

Väldigt fint hotell med stort utbud av bra restauranger. Rummet var mycket fint och städpersonalen extremt noggranna. Två mycket bra golfbanor, Le Chateau och La Reserve Links, även om den sistnämnda kanske var i överkant svår.

Dejlig opvarmet pool, smukt belyst om aftenen. Fantastisk morgenbuffet og lækker aftensmad. Smukke solnedgange. Superbe hôtel, le personnel est aux petits soins pour les vacanciers, le niveau de service est au maximum. Les chambres sont magnifiques et le petit déjeuner très bon !
Seul petit bémol pour nous : les repas sont très bons, mais nous recherchions avant tout une cuisine locale sous forme de buffet quotidien et non haut de gamme à la française.
Le sud de l'île est très calme et verdoyant, il y a un côté très authentique mais peut être un peu trop isolé.

Beautiful settings and location, infrastructure in good shape, but service clearly not at the expected level. Complex and little. Best hotel ever, I loved absolutely everything. We booked all-inclusive which was really worth it given that the restaurants were quite pricey. The food was superb, staff at hotel super friendly, lots and lots of activities to keep you busy, including tennis, paddle, table tennis, volleyball, basketball, pedal boat, kayak, kite, spa with hamam and sauna and of course the golf course. Most activities were included in the all-inclusive package. We will be back!
