This was my wife and I’s third hotel during our two week stay in Mauritius. The property itself was very nice, but there was some construction going on which put a lot of mud on the walkways, especially with the rainy weather. We both thought the grounds were too dim in the guest areas. Some of the staff did not help us well when we had questions, but others were very nice and knowledgeable. A couple of our events (African dinner, helicopter tour) got rained out, which was disappointing. We did try pretty much all of the restaurants (except for the BOMA African dinner experience). They were all good. We also tried some of the available experiences around the property (archery, seashell museum, 4x4 jeep safari). Except for the weather, everything was good. Because the weather was wet, rainy, and windy, we weren’t able to swim in the pools or the beach. We did walk around the Telfair a couple of times, which is a really nice resort.

All in all, the hotel is great, but the weather just didn’t cooperate with our stay, at least not until the day that we were leaving. Bummer! If we come back, we wouldn’t mind staying there again.

Clean rooms, good range of food options which includes being able to dine at the golf club, neighbouring hotels and beach club (car shuttle from reception included). Kids pool heated and we needed it for an October trip.

Lovely place, would visit again

Lovely place. We had an issue with the air conditioning and after a few complaints we escalated to the manager and he moved us to a new room. He was also very attentive from that point on. The service in the restaurants is friendly but a little chaotic at times - lots of staff running about but not getting a huge amount done. The resort is great though, food and drink exceptional.

Our stay at the resort was wonderful. The facilities were excellent and all the staff very friendly, approachable and helpful. Sorted any issues that were raised. One staff member to mention in particular is Oliver who had our breakfast drinks ready at our usual table as soon as he saw us approching. Only one small criticism was the labelling of food. On one occasion what we thought was vegetarian was in fact not. But this was promptly corrected. Overall we had an excellent holiday.

The buffet restaurant was at best chaotic. The Blu restaurant was very nice and the staff were lovely in there.
The food was generally ok but not the best.
Overall this didn’t feel like a good 5 star hotel.

Perfect! We have just stayed at Heritage Awali for 9 nights and we loved it! The hotel is beautiful and on the most stunning stretch of beach. It’s postcard perfect! The room was really clean and the overall service we received was 10/10. The staff make this hotel what it is! As vegetarians and one child having a dairy allergy, the hotel could not have done more to accommodate our needs. Rohit who works at the Infinity restaurant was just AMAZING, along with Jayshnee! They went out of their way to ensure sure we were looked after every single day and Chef Deo made us the yummiest food that suited our diet. Chef Harjit who heads up the Indian restaurant was also really accommodating and the food was fab!
We can’t wait to go back and are already planning another visit next year!
We thoroughly recommend this kid-friendly hotel to anyone thinking of visiting Mauritius! You will have a great holiday if you stay here! :)

We have stayed at many resorts in Mauritius, but this was by far the most disappointing. From check-in there was a confusion about my payment, I had already paid online yet, the resort claimed there was a balance.
All inclusive stay, however all activities were fully booked whenever we asked. I don’t understand why they resort doesn’t increase capacity.
The staff at the reception seemed disinterested, and could care less to offer any solutions.
Food options at the Savannah was very limited. Grilled Tuna for 3days. The other restaurants were either always fully-booked or no kids allowed.
Request to check out at 1pm was rejected and Was forced to check out by 12. Requested baggage pickup at 11:45, only for it to arrive at 12:30!

The personal touch provided to my family was unique, staff saying hello to my son by name regularly and going above and beyond to address issues.

Main issue I had with our stay, was that the hotel was quiet which led to the buffet being shut and as a result we alternated between two restaurants for a week which made the food boring in the end. The quality was good, just repetitiveness was the only downside

The resort is beautiful, blending in with nature. The hotel staff is incredible and always finds a solution or answer to your questions. They all do an amazing job and I would like to particularly thank Ansha (housekeeping) and Rohit for their daily smiles and great attention to details. We had an incredible 10-day family trip and we would love to come back soon. The food at the restaurants was delicious. It is a kids-friendly resort with lots of activities for children and a great Kids club. Already recommended the resort to 2 of my friends.

Fantastic facilities and wonderfully friendly staff who were very accommodating. All of the restaurants served delicious fresh food and had a great range of wine and spirits. Beautiful beach and lots to do; the gym is well equipped, the tennis courts are in great condition, our girls loved the archery, the traditional fishing was a real treat and the glass bottom boat was a great trip. We had a few massages and spa treatments which were really relaxing. The one slight let down was the creche which was a little lacking in energy and enthusiasm but once we mentioned this to the management team they went out of their way to rectify.

The reason I am giving the hotel a low score is because when I tried to settle my bill the night before checkout, I was surprised with a charge for Video on Demand? I told the receptionist that I did not purchase the service and she basically did not trust me and said that she has to check with IT tomorrow morning to make sure that I didn't purchase the service. I asked for Duty manger and he basically said the same thing and he cannot delete it until the IT checks?! Tomorrow morning just before checking out they sent the IT guy to my room and after talking to me and checking the TV he said he will ask them to delete the charge. I have been to so many hotels and this is my first time having to meet the IT guy to delete a charge that by the way less than 1% of the overall hotel stay. And no apology was given whatsoever!

Brilliant holiday in a lovely hotel. Staff were great and attentive although tips help to maintain their attention. Lunchtime food great. Indian restaurant was our favourite and Italian very good. Buffet ok, but beach restaurant and C bar not so good. Golf club was great and steak night was brilliant. Good trips on offer through the hotel and management staff very attentive. A paradise location and a great holiday.

The hotel is located on the southern beach and has an excellent golf course , together with a per 3, 9 hole course, just felt that for such a difficult course they should be letting on Handicap players as some players seemed to struggle which not spoils their enjoyment but the other players having long waits. Also felt that for a 5 * resort charging for practice balls on driving range was a bit much. You do need to book your golf and also your preferred evening restaurants before your arrival. The food and drink choices were excellent as were the staff.

Beautiful resort on the south coast of Mauritius.

Excellent experience with so many amenities included in the all-in package. We even enjoyed massages as part of the deal (nice surprise). Food was excellent with several choices and access to another resort next door. Be sure to visit Joe and the Coco Shack - he is awesome.

Brilliant Honeymoon

Brilliant time at Heritage Awali! My husband and I went for our honeymoon and they made it really special. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating and give us many extra perks for our honeymoon. The bar and restaurant were brilliant including Soodesh and Dinesh, such friendly guys! Mauritius is such a beautiful place and would highly recommend going 😊

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was lovely. The one thing that did seem a bit strange was we were on a bed and breakfast package and we seem to be unable to get reservations for the restaurant evening. For example on our first evening, we wanted to eat at the Indian restaurant called Zafrani, we were informed it was full. However when we walked past it later on in the evening, it was only one quarter full. This was the same for other restaurants. We then had to eat in the buffet.

Apart from that, we really enjoyed our stay in the hotel was excellent. The water on the beach was crystal blue.

An hotel with views to die for over infinity pools looking directly onto the sea. Well maintained grounds. Wonderful rooms with a bathroom bigger than some hotel rooms - his and her wash basins, large shower and bath with a separate toilet and walk in wardrobe. Hot water on tap. Large balcony with marvelous views. Plenty of sunbeds around the pools and on the beach.

Of the three hotels we stayed at while on holiday in Mauritius, this was our least favorite. We had two free nights at the Intercontinental in Balaclava and the rooms were normally half the price of the Awali, but much nicer in their design/layout as well as the hotel staff and accommodations. There was no conditioner in the room as well as a charge for WiFi. The Gin'ja restaurant was nice, but very expensive for what you get. I've been to very nice, very expensive restaurants and had much better experiences there. It seems that they prey on the fact that many people don't venture out of the hotel into the nearby towns and feel free to charge outrageous prices for mediocre food. Overall, I'm very glad we only had a short stay there, but unfortunate that it was at the end of our trip...overall, we were happy to leave there.

The welcome we received wasn't great but the hotel itself was great, beautiful place, great food and we loved the room! Service at times was a bit slow but we'd still recommend staying here.
The beach sellers were more memorable then hotel staff; Rambo is so friendly and we arranged a trip with Eddy Murphy of Big Mama Company Tours Ltd to snorkel with dolphins and visit Coconut Island. The trip was excellent, we had a wonderful seafood bbq, all included in the price, with prawns, tuna steaks and lobster - beautiful!

As this was my first trip to the Indian Ocean location I found the Heritage Awali resort a pleasing and wonderful experience. the staff were most helpful and was made most welcome by all. Of course I should mention the Golf Club which has a magnificent Course attached and I did happen to have the chance to play this but was unfortunate to happen to pick the most busy day to play but then it did not dampen the day. Evening entertainment was good and could not fault it. rooms were excellent although I cannot complain as I was upgraded to a superior room without extra cost. All in all a great holiday and I would suggest this resort for not only Golfers but for ALL holiday makers.

Great setting with lots to do. The dining selction is great with more restaurants to choose from than days available. The golf course is fantastic layout with tees for all levels of golfers. The golf staff even brings cool towels and fruit to you on the golf course. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Great place and highly recommended.

Wonderful place, great food, friendliest staff, great room overlooking the sea, all inclusive package was ideal, excellent massage in the spa...just two very small issues...the beach was fine, but not the white talcum powder beach we expected. Washed-up coral made it uncomfortable to enter the sea. Also I assumed they would lend out snorkeling equipment, but they would only lend them out if you were on an organised trip with them, which I found annoying. They wouldn't even hire it out. The only option would be to purchase it....not clear in the sales blurb....otherwise a fantastic place.

I had booked the hotel on short term notice for myself and my 2 teenage sons for a 2-day weekend to explore the southern part of the island. We were expecting 5-Star quality and had explicitly requested a non-smoker room. Unfortunately we were put in a room with a strong musty smell, - it must have been part of the older buildings on the grounds. When we complained, the staff was very courteous, but could only offer us similar rooms which also smelled as if they had been used for smokers and/or had not been renovated in a very long time.
When we tried to order room service, it took a fairly long time and when the food finally arrived, it was of poor quality and did not correspond to the description on the menu. Special wishes (no mayonnaise on the burger etc.) were not considered.
Upon our insistence (2 more levels of management, took the better part of the evening) we were finally moved to a much nicer room at the sister resort Telfair Heritage. While we were very happy with the final outcome, we are disappointed by the room quality at the Awali based on the limited number of rooms we were shown.
We were also very disappointed that the jeep tour of the nature reserve (Frederica) which forms part of the estate had to be cancelled due to the weather (it was raining a lot on that weekend) and we were only informed about the cancellation 15 minutes before the tour was supposed to start very early in the morning.

Great golf, disappointed overall

Returned from 7 days at the Awali. Overall it did not deserve its 5* rating. The golf course was in pristine condition and the staff excellent; too bad their fine service and attention to detail wasn’t replicated at the hotel. The property itself is impeccably maintained with a stunning location, but the so-so service and so-so buffet along with too many exclusions or supplements on the \"all inclusive\" (AI) made us regret our choice. We had so many little problems - drink orders never right, main course arriving at the same time as the first course, no silverware for the second course...the list goes one. After the 3rd day we met with the manager who suggested various solutions which ensured that our remaining days were much better. The C Pool Club across from the golf course, a 5 minute walk, offers attentive, well measured service and divine food. The main restaurant buffet was sparse with few choices. The Infinity Blue for dinner (reserve in advance) offered a wonderful menu and much better service in the evening. As for the bars, the liquor selection is quite extensive; however, the wine selection is below average. (The manager did personally select wines \"off the AI list\" for the remainder of our meals which greatly improved our dining experiences.) On the plus side, the Pool & beach \"bar\" service was quite attentive and the maids did a terrific job with the room each day. To be fair, once the management is aware of a problem, they do their upmost to rectify it quickly.

Our only regret is that our two day stay was too short. (we were on route from Seychelles back to Australia and only had two days spare). We experienced a wonderfully warm welcome, the staff were unfailingly polite and helpful, and our sea facing room (with the hotel's African theme) was first class. Breakfast and dinner (we were on half board) offered a good variety of choice and was much enjoyed. Would highly recommend a stay here. It is not surprising that this hotel won a global award for the best 5 star luxury family hotel, in 2010

Die Hotelanlage ist schön, am Strand gelegen. Nettes, aufmerksames Personal.Zimmer sauber. Das ist das Positive.
Negativ ist vor allem die Essenssituation. Es gibt ein Hauptrestaurand und mehrere Spezialitätenrestaurants, die man vorab reservieren muss. Sie sind sehr gut, daher sind diese immer kurzfristig ausgebucht. Also muss man bei Ankunft schon alles vorab reservieren. Wird aber beim Check in nicht erwähnt. Also muss man dann ins Hauptrestaurant. Und das ist gelinde gesagt schlecht, nicht eines 5 Sterne Hotels würdig. Kaum Wechsel der Speisen, kaum Auswahl. Noch schlimmer ist das Frühstück.
Die Krönung ist, dass es für die im Zimmer stehende Nespresso Machine für 1 Woche genau 4 Kapseln gibt. Den Rest soll man dann bei All inklusiv kaufen. Dann sollten sie es lassen. Leider, auf Grund des Essens kann ich dieses Hotel nicht weiter empfehlen

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour à l’Heritage Awali. L’hôtel est magnifique et parfaitement intégré dans son environnement. La plage est superbe, avec son sable blanc et son eau turquoise idéale pour la baignade. Les chambres sont spacieuses et confortables. Le buffet est très correct et les restaurants à la carte valent le détour. Le personnel est d’une chaleur et d’une gentillesse remarquables, en particulier avec les enfants.

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié les différentes piscines non chauffées (dont une pour adultes et une plutôt adaptée aux enfants chauff, le club enfants accessible même aux plus petits – où les animatrices sont adorables et très attentives –, ainsi que l’espace dédié aux enfants qui est bien pensé. Le massage offert a également été un vrai plus.

Quelques petites remarques qui n’ont en rien gâché notre séjour mais qui pourraient rendre l’expérience encore meilleure : l’hôtel, en dehors du club enfants, n’est pas vraiment pensé pour les plus jeunes (pas de mini disco, d’aire de jeux extérieure ou de piscine spécifiquement conçue pour eux). Sa localisation le rend aussi un peu éloigné des points d’intérêt du nord et de l’est de l’île. Les chambres situées près de la piscine peuvent être un peu bruyantes le soir lors des animations. Au restaurant Infinity Blue, le service gagnerait à être un peu plus fluide et la quantité servie parfois plus généreuse. Enfin, au spa, les massages et soins du visage pourraient être réalisés avec davantage de délicatesse.

Lieu incroyable à la hauteur de ses 5 étoiles.
Magnifique endroit luxuriant, calme et moins urbanisé et fréquenté que le Nord de l'île.
Complexe à taille humaine.
Magnifique SPA.
Deux belles piscines dont une adults only. L'autre est chauffée et très très bruyante... (éviter les chambres qui donnent dessus).
Très belle plage: mer turquoise, attention cependant au courant quand il y a du vent, pas beaucoup de profondeur et aux débris de coraux.
Le temps est capricieux (première quinzaine d'octobre) dans le Sud mais le soleil ne tarde jamais à revenir grâce au vent.
Un personnel exceptionnel: souriant, gentil, disponible et qui parle français.
Chambre impeccable, spacieuse, bien insonorisée.
Il y a plusieurs restaurants: penser à réserver à l'avance. La nourriture est bonne, fraîche, variée, renouvelée y compris le buffet.
Côté boisson: très grand choix et rhum à volonté...
Il faut savoir que la contre partie du calme c'est l'isolement. Oublier le shopping, il n'y a rien à la ronde. Pour les excursions dans le Nord, il faut compter au moins 1h de voiture quand ça roule, 1/2h pour Chamarel et 1h pour l'aeroport.
Quelques détails: excellent WIFI y compris sur la plage, pas de moustiques, aller vous promener à l'hôtel voisin Le TELFAIR (même groupe), dîner au château de Bel ombre ($$$), aller vous promener au coucher de soleil sur la plage publique voisine de Bel ombre encore sauvage...
En conclusion: magnifique séjour dans un endroit paradisiaque avec un personnel exceptionnel.

Nous avons passé 11 jours de vacances au sein de cet hôtel après avoir déjà passé une semaine l’an dernier. Globalement l’hôtel est excellent. Le Kids club est fabuleux, il fallait supplier nos enfants pour parfois nous rejoindre. L’accès au domaine vous permets de ne pas avoir l’impression de faire du sur place: golf, château, kazalala, réserve, telfair, c Beach club. Le service est d’une qualité exceptionnelle avec un personnel accueillant et toujours souriant, un remerciement particulier à Olivier, Niven, aux serveurs du bar principal et également au Directeur Monsieur Carlier qui est d’une grande proximité. le cadre est fantastique avec l’impression d’être dans une forêt luxuriante peuplée de grand banians et de badamiers. La piscine chauffée est un véritable plus pour la période d’hiver austral. Les restos sont d’une grande qualité avec l’accès à de la grande gastronomie dans certains restaurants pour lesquels l’hôtel propose un crédit de 1500 roupies par adultes: Gin’Ja, le restaurant du château. le seul défaut de l’hôtel mais qu’il est impossible à changer serait sa localisation, non pas du fait qu’il soit un peu esseulé de la vie locale mais du fait que la météo soit un peu capricieuse. Mais il s’agit du charme atypique du sud de l’île, un côté brut et sauvage qui lui donne ce côté luxuriant au niveau de la flore. quoi dire d’autres si ce n’est se poser la question : quand reviendrons-nous?
