We spent a fantastic two weeks at Tamassa Bel Ombre. The team were warm, attentive and consistently professional, and both the restaurants and buffet were excellent throughout our stay. The themed evenings were a real highlight, particularly the Mauritian night, which beautifully captured the spirit and flavours of the island.
The beachfront location is ideal for long, peaceful walks, and the lagoon is perfect for snorkelling – highly recommended. The spa facilities are well maintained and a great place to unwind. It’s also conveniently positioned for exploring the main tourist attractions across the island.
A very well-run resort in a superb setting.

From the onset the front office staff at the welcome desk was incapable of checking us in without friction. The lady who showed us the room was very apathetic ans seemed uninterested in helping us in a professional manner.

The restaurant staff also made us feel like we were in their way. They refused us to sit where we like and insisted that we sit on an 'appropriate' table suited for our family. There was also not a good view in the restaurant which made it feel very enclosed. In the evenings, there is a dress code, but the waiters looks unneat themselves (dirty shioes etc).

The room was fine.

There are better value propositions in Mauritius. Avoid if you can.

The room was clean, spacious, and had direct access to the beach. The live music and dance performances were amazing. Both the dinner and breakfast buffets were great and offered good variety, though drinks were not included. The reception staff made us wait, were not very communicative, and came across as slightly unprofessional.

We love the south of Mauritius, less developed and more remote and rugged. Proximity to Le Morne and beaches and access to kite surfing.

We loved the day care and babysitting service, its was free to use and we used it alot! Certainly the best and easiest we ever experienced from any resort. Loved the staff and how they treated our daughter like family.

Good sandy beaches with rock piles near shore and all you have to do is dip your head in the water to see fishes.

Great place for family and kids.

Personally I think the food selection was limited for full-board meals. Paid for meal much better quality at the resort restaurant.

The pay for drinks / water option was annoying with the full board for I who dont drink alcohol.

Spa was excellent.

We thought the rooms are on the small side.

Where was the free coconuts? I didnt see any carts there when the property was loaded with coconuts. This was something Lux Le Morne had and included in breakfast. Disappointed about this.

No perks of a 4+ stars in the hotel. Staff were reluctant to help when a service was needed, despite booking an expensive all-inclusive deal. Check in was awfully complicated, taking over an hour. Staff do not seem to be equipped with skills required for a 4 star service. All inclusive deal has limited options and not enough variety for its price. Room amenities were somewhat outdated and not working properly. Although I booked the room specifically for 3 adults, the spare bed put there was mediocre and very uncomfortable, despite paying extra for a 3 -adult room. The room was equipped for only 2 people, depite booking being for 3 people. There was only one pair of slippers and one bathrobe provided. Staff were reluctant to give us towels by the pool when I asked. I explained i needed fresh towels and was categorically refused by thr staff who were carrying towels in their buggies. However they did stop ahead and gave tourists towels when they asked. Not sure why there was this double standard treatment. Some local staff, the waiters, involved in dinner sevice were good. As a 4 star hotel, the hotel staff did not bother to come and ask if our stay was going well or we needed anything. Again the point if that this is a good 2 star hotel. Definitely notna 4 star hotel. I have been to 3 star hotels with much better facilities in Mauritius.

I had high hopes for my stay here. There were however a few issues. It took about an hour to get into our room because the lock was not working and took many attempts to get in. Once inside the room seemed fine. However there were somethings not quite right. There was no tv remote, so called reception to notify them of this. A new remote appeared while we was out the room. This remote did not work, but I figured out how to program it to work, only to discover the tv was blank with no channels whatsoever. Later it was time to give my son a bath, but the bathtub had no plug.

We had to order room service which had a charge of RS200 on top of the price of the drinks as the in room fridge/mini bar was not working. I did look at the back for a switch but it was very dirty so did not touch it.

Other than these issues, we had a pleasant stay. The food was good and the staff and service excellent too.

The check in and out was simple, however we was told after the deposit we could pay the difference but was then refunded out deposit and then had to pay drink charges, which meant we had to use a different card as the refund is not instant for a deposit

The area around the complex was clean, well kept and looked amazing, just the room that let it down, which was a real shame.

A beautiful all inclusive resort for all the peace and tranquility lovers in the South of Mauritius. Perfect for a family vacation, has lots and lots of things to explore inside the resort and also has a beautiful and clean private beach that makes the whole experience worth it. Highly recommend Tamassa if you’re looking for a great stay in Mauritius.

House keeping didn't replenish shampoo, shower gel.
Beach side lady at the towel counter, mentioned that don't you have towel in the room. Whereas, while i was checking in, the guy Najeeb, who took care of us, gave information that while using pool & beach, you should use towels from the counter.
Wifi at room 3040 was terrible.

At the spa counter, the lady was talking to us, & then entered a light skinned guy, she forgot us & just started attending the other guy. we didn't even conclude the conversation. Very bad.

From the gate security staff to every single staff at the resort I have come across have been very welcoming and ready to help. I went there first time for a day package and had a nice day. So I booked for one night half board stay and I don’t regret it. Although the bad weather we had a nice time.
Next time I am in Mauritius, definitely it will be Tamassa again.

Commute to north: via B102: the most beautiful sceneries you can expect
Secure parking.
My score :9 out of 10

Beach:
Not the greatest on the island. You need protective footware, or you’re highly likely to pickup foot injuries from sharp broken coral and/or volcanic rocks

I’ll give it 6/10

Staff:
Mostly kind and conscientious; a few do need updated training as they can come across as a little rude

Very limited in my view, hygiene not always observed (see my pic of coffee machine as an example); not value for money, staff not always polite, however a great setup with open access to garden/pool- I’ll give it 1 out of 10

Top quality food, extremely professional staff (won’t forget Rahul’s kindness to my daughter), extremely romantic setup, albeit a little overpriced (see pics of tiny lobster costing 2800rp, £50 approx)

Arrived at Tamassa, no one at the luggage drop off to greet us. Unloaded the car myself which wasn’t a big deal but when you see others having help throughout your stay makes you wonder. Check in was fine. Room was lovely…was offered an half grade upgrade which I paid for..after 1st was really disappointed with the food & more so the atmosphere in the restaurant, felt more like a feeding frenzy.

The hotel is in a beautiful location. We stayed in a beach room with fabulous views of the beach and sea and the sunsets were gorgeous.
The beach restaurant served lovely food although we found the buffet restaurant didn’t always have a wide choice of different cuisine. Staff lovely and friendly and really helpful to me with a broken ankle at the time.

Properties nice. Buffet restaurant was good for meals. All inclusive was bit worth the price in my opinion especially since I don’t drink alcohol. Coke a cola was watered down consistently and most times it took a long time to get drinks with meals prior to almost being finished eating. Beach is beautiful , the various pools are nice. Room was comfortable and wifi worked well throughout. All inclusive had many restrictions for instance if you at at al la carte restaurant menu was very limited for all inclusive options. Any type of beverage is cost based after 11pm even with full all inclusive. They offered some activities , like kayak, paddle boat. But no snorkel equipment use will all inclusive. It’s suppose to be a VIP resort for Expedia and i definitely did not feel VIP booking through Expedia or even with purchasing the full all inclusive.

Second visit to this lovely hotel and nearly as good as 9 years ago. Only complaint was allowing weekend day trips by local groups of men, who were loud and allowed to drink beer in the main swimming pool while families and kids were trying to swim, no one from the hotel challenged their behaviour and it felt intimidating. This is a very honest review of the experience i have had during my 8 day at this resort with my family, on a half board basis in their superior room x 2
Pros- Bel Ombre is a fantastic area to base yourself in with fantastic snorkelling just at the hotel beach. Beach itself was very clean and beautiful, and personally we prefer this over the much more busier
northern beaches.
-Amazing spa and massages
-The few experienced staff are very good and know their job well.

Cons- Resort definitely is not 4* but only a 3*. Their biggest letdown is their service- people are wonderful, but the management is extremely poor and focus on customer satisfaction is lacking.
-Very greedy management, everything is about making money- Several incidents during our stay highlighting this fact- eg- glass of wine costs £7- which is fine- but the quantity should be measured and consistent. I had it three times and every time had different quantities for the same price! The last one I barely had two sips of wine in my glass which was a bit steep to pay £7 for!!
- food- this is the biggest letdown. Quality of food and the choices of food are not at all upto the mark. Several days the soup has been cold, birds pecking at the breads/ cakes, some food items running out half way through the buffet time and chefs unwilling to refill- poor service in buffets- the only vegetarian food available is always Indian.
- I think they have hired a lot of young trainee waiters who unfortunately, were just not a

Overall Tamassa was a good fit for our family vacation needs - the pool and beach are beautiful and it’s convenient to be able to eat at their buffet (Show) restaurant, order from the B Bar, make a reservation at the Playa restaurant or order room service. However, the food taste was inconsistent as was the speed of service (ex at one point we had to call 4 times to get enough water bottles delivered to the room). We rented a car for the trip and the hotel is not too far from the 7 colored earth park, the huge Hindu statues at Grand Bassin, and a few other interesting locations - which was great as driving on the relatively small roads can be quite tiring. We also enjoyed the spa services which - though somewhat pricey compared to other locations - were really relaxing and enjoyable. Overall, we were happy we stayed at Tamassa.

Bad hotel.
bad service. Maintenance in the whole hotel is just bad.
In the room - stained bedding that should be new, full of mosquitoes and ants, also on the bed, broken flooring, termites that leave traces of black dust on the floor, gray torn curtains.
In the dining room - the dessert area there are a lot of ants. The food is mediocre or below, vegetables are not fresh and even when something runs out it takes a long time to refill. This also applies to the plates and cutlery that were missing all the time. Plastic chairs that are the chairs you have to sit on to eat, with a cover from the 70s. No self-respecting place had such a chair for guests.
Service: only the cleaning lady was nice - the rest are beyond criticism. A grumpy welcome in the dining room, not a single smile.
In conclusion: stay away! There is no shortage of good hotels in the area.
A 2 star hotel and no more.

We had a ground floor beach view room which was lovely. Nice and spacious.
Only comment would be to make sure you take the all inclusive package as drinks and food would be expensive otherwise. This is cheaper if booking through Hotels.com than directly with the hotel on arrival.
Only one restaurant other than the buffet which could be limiting if you are staying for longer periods.

Property is just ok, used to be great one but not anymore. Maintenance work required all around the property. Ants and lizards were in the room, proper pest control is needed to take care of this. Entertainment was good. Hotel staffs pretty helpful and pleasant. At breakfast a variety is needed, most of the days they had the same food every morning.

We have just returned from a lovely relaxing break at Tamassa.
From the moment we arrived we were amazed with the wonderful service and amazing facilities at Tamassa.
We visited the lovely peaceful spa with sauna and steam room every other day, we went on the included snorkleing (3 times) and glass bottom boat even spotting a turtle one day. The beach was beautiful and everything so close. The room was lovely and comfortable. We spent most of our days in the pool, spa, playing table tennis or chess. The food was lovely with loads of choice. Service was great, and staff so friendly, can't fault anything.
We never thought we'd be the type to like a resort holiday but this has converted us! We've come back feeling completely refreshed and recharged. Thank you Tamassa 🙂

Like most of the hotels I went in Mauritius Tamassa hotel is old and not really maintained. The desk wasn’t study, there were cobwebs in one corner.
The service in the restaurant was good but too much on us and we couldn't get up to get more food as they cleaned the table.

Amazing view, rooms are clean, AC works well. What stood out to me was the amazing customer service these people have. Mauritians are very respectful individuals. They didnt have rooms available for late checkout but they have a lounge where people could wait. Services are still available until you leave even if you check out early and stay at the resort while waiting for time to go to the airport. I loved my stay at Tamassa and would recommend!

First Mauritian Experience

Fantastic resort, very family friendly, safe and beautiful. Half board package was great for us, menu for lunch was a bit limited, but altogether was an excellent trip. A bit disappointed that we weren't offered the room upgrade or late checkout as GOLD VIP Guests. The resort is a bit far away from everything, but if you're planning on staying put at the resort, it's excellent.

Gorgeous hotel, friendly staff, spacious, pretty grounds, lovely pool & beach. But don't book through Expedia as the all inclusive package isn't properly all inclusive! Book with someone who gives access to Playa restaurant and keeps your AI going til 6pm on check out day! We felt like second class citizens compared to people who'd booked through other tour operators. Not the hotel's fault at all though.

Delicious cuisine with a large variety of Indian and Kreol options with touches of French cuisine. Inspiring meals that were so much more enjoyable than a standard offering of other resorts. The hotel area was very spacious, villas are located in a beautiful perfectly maintained garden. The hotel beach was also much more spacious than what I saw in the other hotels nearby. Great choice of activities to do in the resort for free without limits - water activities, gym, pétanque and other garden games. Free entrance to sauna and steam bath, definitely visit Santosha spa, it was so relaxing just to lie down next to the pool there and relax surrounded by harmony. This hotel offers excellent services for a very reasonable price compared to the other hotels in the southern part of the island. Every day, I discovered something new what the hotel offers. I definitely recommend this place to everyone who wants to enjoy relaxing vacation in a beautiful surrounding.

Staff was lovely, thank you Leena, Dilshad and Karan the chef, surrounding was perfect beautiful view, lovely beach, safe and tranquil and breakfast was lovely. The first room allocated to us was not in a letting condition, broken fire alarm, ceiling fan and bedside light, toilet smelt, the wall had blood stain from dead mosquitoes. We were transferred to another room, a bit more clean but still bad smell from the toilet and bedsheets which was torn with holes.

Way too expensive for what it is

The staff was generally great, especially the trainee Suraj. The resort has only one a la carte restaurant, clearly not enough. Sunbeds were all taken, many being reserved but not used. They have the best beach we saw in Mauritius, of which I was not at all impressed. The worst: we paid €350 per night for a standard room with a half 'all inclusive', for anything that wasn't a local drink you had to pay full price.

Top All inc Resort in South Mauritius

Stayed with my wife & friends for 12 nights. Stayed in the beach room with excellent room facilities. There were lots of activities available during the day.
Swimming pools and walking on the beach were awesome. Food prepared by Mahesh Prabhu and Harjit Singh was delicious, especially fish, prawns and spiced vegetarian noodles for my wife.
The trainee restaurant waiters especially Surat Samatha and Jay Mritunjay were always helpful and very attentive during our stay.
Finally our big thank you to customer service managress Leena Parbatee ( smiling face lady) and Stephan Anseline, the general manager for making our stay wonderful. We will definitely return to this resort again. (Room 2073)

Little bit of paradise

The property is sprawling, with numerous pools, long white-sand beach, a secluded spa area and pool - enough to occupy anyone! We stayed 9 days and that was just right. The staff really do make every effort to make you feel special.

Great 2 week holiday at Tamassa. Standard all inclusive option well worth it, beautiful setting, staff great. One small hiccup but resolved and closer attention felt thereafter. Staff could do with a little more technical understanding regards consistency of service and attention to detail but more than make up for it in willingness to please. If they can sort this it would be a truly great hotel. When refurbished would suggest 5 hotel stars not needed, it could become stupidly expensive, pompous and pretentious. It is a jewel in the Mauritius four star crown.

Excellent stay at Tamassa

OUTSTANDING customer service!! Staff extremely attentive to small details and followed up on issues raised. Excellent variety of food with a different theme each night at the main buffet restaurant. Chefs personally came and checked that food was to our satisfaction each night and even made special dishes for us and the kids. Resort had a wide variety of facilities and grounds kept beautifully clean.

Great relaxing break for 10 days with family, 5 of us with older teenagers. Tamassa excelled in every way. We even ventured out - swam with dolphins and did a biking excursion! Food was good and constant! Rooms were cleaned everyday and towels replaced. Visited 3rd-13th July - weather warm enough during the day but chilly some nights. Resort seemed fairly quiet but seemed to be getting busier as we left! The Island of Mauritius is beautiful definitely worth a visit ..Kate

My husband and I had a fantastic 10 days at Tamassa Resort; we got treated like VIP's and had lots of fun activities to do; we would definitely love to go back again in the future. Chef Mahesh is such a friendly and super helpful guy, he made sure to stop and chat with us every evening. We had creme brulee from room service one night and it was so delicious that we complimented Chef Mahesh on it, and even though creme brulee was not part of the buffet array, he went out of his way to get us some for dessert on two separate occasions. Chef Mahesh and his team really make an effort to give their guests a diverse and delicious selection of foods from around the world.
I cannot rave enough about the lunchtime food truck! The chicken burgers are divine! We also thoroughly enjoyed the ice cream parlour.
All the staff are super friendly and very helpful; Mr.Ram, knowing that I was a coffee addict, asked me every day if I had enough coffee in my room. A special thanks to Sabrina and Jamil at the pool bar - they looked after us really well and never let our glasses go empty. They were a lot of fun and had a great sense of humour. I enjoyed all the different cocktails.
We were entertained every night by singers, dancers and even had a cabaret one night.
The little shop has a beautiful range of items for souvenirs, and the lady running it was super helpful to me when I dashed in to find a gift for my husband for Father's Day.

Great hotel, great staff - Highly reccommended.

The whole stay at Tamassa was brilliant from start to finish. The food and drink were excellent, especially for an all-inclusive hotel. We were a family of 4 couples who all had a fantastic time. The staff were especially good. From day one they recognised there were 8 of us and always had a round table for 8 people waiting for us at mealtimes - exceptional, and always done with a smile. Waiter and waitress service for all-inclusive drinks with rarely a wait. A very well managed high quality hotel with excellent facilities.

A Gem in the South

Absolutely Fantastic. This was my 4TH time to mauritius and my first stay at Tamassa. I rate this hotel 10/10. The two head chefs Soubash and Mahesh went beyond the call of duty to ensure that my entire family had their culinary needs taken care of ,even though the Buffet at Show Restaurant was more than sufficient. Chef Soubash prepared my wife and I a Lobster dinner. I highly recommend anyone try this. It’s 1400 Mauritiun Rupees per person and well worth every cent.
The hotel has every amenity you would need. It’s very family friendly and the staff can’t seem to do enough for you. Mauritiun hospitality is by far the best in the world. I am well travelled (being pilot for a major airline) so I highly recommend anyone spoil themselves at Tamassa Resort. The All Inclusive package is the way to go as drinks are pricy. I have stayed at 2 other resorts on the island and Tamassa has been the best thus far.

Beautifully designed resort layout.

The beach is not soft sand, sharp coral pieces. The restaurant environment is odd with staff showing you to a table on a seemingly random basis. Would have preferred to select our own table. Buffet is a bit of a free for all, and the food choice is limited - boring after 7 days even. The lagoon has a strong current running through it and although it's a picture postcard view - it's exactly that - no real change day to day so also a wee bit boring after a while. The rooms are great and well maintained and the staff are generally very good. Tipping helps! A good holiday, but wouldn't do it again.

Best customer service experience

The absolute star of this resort is their staff. The service provided by all of them is beyond 5 star.
The level of friendliness and overall customer service is something I hadn’t experienced and really made our stay so much more enjoyable.
It’s the fact that the rooms had really noisy air conditioning units that did keep us up most nights. And yes i had mentioned it but it couldn’t be fixed I believe. And for an all inclusive holiday it was annoying to have to sign for every drink or food ordered. To the point where waiters had to chase holiday makers for their signature. I had planned to visit the spa but the very expensive prices had put me off.
It is a 4 star resort with 5 star customer service. I would recommend it.

Staff was very friendly. Service was good overall. Internet is fast, but a few times needs to be rebooted as it tends to become slow in the rooms (common areas were okay).

Food was okay, there can be an improvement on the food overall for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lunch needs a lot more improvement and bigger selection.

Lovely staff, pretty good all-inclusive

I stayed there on my own for five nights as part of a Mauritius Marathon package. The staff are super-lovely - really helpful and friendly - although at times seemed a little baffled about my being on holiday solo (the place is more used to couples and families). The accommodation is not particularly sympathetic to the local environment (brick/red tiles made it feel very package tour resort-y, which I guess it is!) But Inside the rooms are of good size, kept very clean, beds super kingsize/comfortable and generous bathrooms. I had an all-inclusive package - my first experience of this. I found the main buffet-style restaurant a little hit-and-miss in terms of quality for dinner, particularly if you tried to eat after 8pm. Compared with other regular 4* hotels I've stayed in breakfast was good in terms of variety and quality of food. The Playa Restaurant, which you have to book for dinner at least 24 hours ahead, was much more consistent (for lunch and dinner), and with a menu and waiter/waitress service a lot more relaxing, quieter, and couples-friendly. House wine is fine, house cocktails were far from stingy on booze, but did tend to be heavy on sugar syrup - not my thing, but the staff there were very happy to alter recipes. Airport transfers were organised very quickly and efficiently by the resort. The spa is lovely - treatments are London+ prices. Conclusion: solid bet if you want comfort, ease, and aren't too bothered about feeling like you are in Mauritius.

Not your average All-Inclusive!

What a wonderful place! The hotel is beautifully designed and maintained, clean and relaxing, although large it doesn't feel crowded. The staff are open and friendly and keen to ensure you are always happy. The food is incredible and the range and quality of the buffet (dinner especially!) is truly impressive. The burger van is also really high quality and great fun for lunch. There are lots of wonderful places to chose from to relax and always beds available. We especially enjoyed a few days in the Spa area. Speacial shout out to Roma, Joanna and Niram who made our stay extra special! The beach is clean and beautiful and sheltered by the natural reef and offered amazing views everyday and sunsets every evening. The complementary mini-bar is a lovey touch as are the bowls of iced soft drinks dotted around the grounds every day and the fresh iced tea/tamarin juice etc. Thank you Tamassa!
