Illegal passport request, filthy room, unsafe stay

At check-in, the hotel required a cash-only deposit and then attempted to retain my passport when I did not comply. I had to state that this is illegal before staff stopped pressing the issue. This alone was unacceptable.

The room I was then given at 10:00 PM was filthy and clearly not cleaned — hair on the floor and in the shower, sticky residue on surfaces, and visible stains. The room door was open when I arrived, adding to the safety concerns.

The only response offered was that cleaning staff might come at an unknown time despite the late hour. Electrical outlets were not working (my adapter short-circuited), no replacements were available, and the noise insulation is nonexistent — aircraft can be heard idling and accelerating for takeoff.

This property is dangerously misrepresented as a five-star hotel. It fails basic standards of cleanliness, safety, and professionalism. I have photos documenting the room condition. Avoid.

Shame on the hotel and whatever Illegal activities their reception was doing and shame on Expedia for not being diligent and listing it as a 5 star property.

Beside the noise of the planes ✈️ which is to be expected right next to the airport, the resort is great. Perfect for families and those with young children.

No amenities in room. No bedside lighting. I could hear the children in the room next to me. Room itself was fine but not worth the price. Staff was great. Overall resort charges for everything even to breath on their property. Ideal for families. Not ideal for Adults looking to relax and enjoy the beach.

Our suite was enormous and immaculate! Our rooftop private pool was my favorite part, followed closely by our jacuzzi tub! Also, the views from our multiple balconies were breathtaking! The property is vast and beautiful! The staff were amazing. We could barely get started walking somewhere on the property before someone offered to give us a ride on a cart! The best part for us has to be the staff! So kind. So accommodating and just genuinely lovely people who seem to truly care that you have an amazing time. This was our second stay at splash beach resort and I pray we get to do it again one day!

It was near the airport and we didn’t hear any planes flying by, very quiet. We also saw the resort while on our plan taking-off. Outside the resort seemed to be a lot of restaurant but we didn’t spend enough time to walk around to enjoy them. While I was there the water park was closed. The front desk said they should be open in October and it actually looked fun, as a 39 year old I would go. Breakfast was delicious, staff was wonderful, resort was clean, they had a shuttle running continuously, I actually enjoyed my stay. Well done Splash Beach resort, well done!

I was disappointed that the hotels waterpark was closed and I didn’t find out until a day before my check in. And they offered nothing to accommodate that huge disappointment.It’s the whole reason I booked there. The drivers were very nice. But customer service as a whole was not very good. The pool and the resort was beautiful. I think if the water park were open it would have been ok. We were def not a fan of the food there

It was not what we expected. The room was fine, had everything one would need, however our bathroom had a leak and water was puddling on the floor. They are right next to the airport, which means you can hear planes most of the day. The water park was unfortunately in need of major maintenance. The wave pool was broken, which was what our kids wanted to do the most and there were other areas that were closed. Paint was chipping everywhere in the water park and at the pools. We frequented the pool near the beach, which was nice.

It was a fun hotel but it was too big for us and you had to get buggy carts anywhere to the hotel. We booked the 2 bed penthouse with pool but the pool tiles were broken. Overall a fine hotel for a quick pit stop before flying home and the water park was fun but a bit tired.

Ww absolutely loved our stay at Splash Beach Resort. I do not understand some of the poor reviews! The staff are extremely helpful and caring, accomodation was fantastic. Everywhere was super clean. Resort is huge and the they provide a great shuttle service from rooms to pool/beach/restaurants. We ate at the resort a few times and food always tasty. Breakfast a little cold at times but can have items cooked to order. Always got a table. Has Mai Khao beach behind the resort which was stunning and had.a viewing area to see planes taking off and landing. Airport noise did not bother us in the slightest. Great water park, pools and some evening entertainment. In walking distance there's a few restaurants and shops and bit further out there's more (a few pounds in a tuk tuk gets you miles!) The staff were very good, always a smile for you. Definitely would return.

Property was close to the airport which is what we wanted. There’s a nice water park for kids and families. We were 5 adults traveling and knew that when booking but there are a lot of kids so it’s definitely busy and bustling with people. Check in was crowded and busy. Check out was very easy. Our room initially had a bad sewage or fishy type smell but once we turned on the air it improved. Bed was a little hard but served its purpose. Property is very large and spread out but they offer trams around the property which always came quickly. Overall, nice stay and reasonably priced.

I gave a 3 stars rating is due to the house keeping didn’t clean the room and replenish the towels as I requested more than one time. The pillows are smelly, I requested for replacement but it was not done. We got extras sheets and put it on top of the pillows.

We stayed in February 2025 and enjoyed our stay immensely. The water park is a bit run down but our child had a great time at it. The airplane viewing point was also very cool. We were there for three days which was enough time for us. The food was OK but we preferred to eat just off resort in the few local restaurants that surrounded the area. Overall it was a great location.

It is a nice hotel with nice rooms and comfy beds.
The breakfast was not that great though. The breakfast was modified for Russians since it is about 90% of Russians staying in this hotel, which is not that great. I will not come back, and the reason for this is the rude Russians at this hotel and also that all the menus is in Russians and the Russians food on the breakfast.

The place was pretty highly rated thats why we went for it, but tbh honest it was average at best. The rooms were really spacious but that was probably the best part of the hotel.
The reception staff were pretty useless. The waterpark was fun and surprisingly empty, but its seen better days and is pretty tired. Quite a few areas weren't working.
The breakfast was good but it is a bit of a bun fight with all the Russians that dominate this hotel. Definitely get there early.
We stayed for 3 nights and that was more than enough!

We checked in with into a pool villa, we had no hot water.. the nect day we ate at the restaurant in the hotel and had food poisoning. I was really sick,the hotel sent a doctor out and charged me 600 USD for a consult.

Wen we complained at checkout, the manager Sue called her security to escort us out the hotel. This is by far the worst resort i have ever stayed in, i urge any traveller to pls watch out for such scams.

The property is set up for families with young children. Great for activities for young families. There are restaurants and other amenities in walking distance but the prices tend to be higher because of the closeness to the resort. Even the taxi service through the resort to the airport was more than double the cost of a Bolt.
The property was a little run down for a 5 star property. We had no hot water the first day and we had to ask for a hairdryer as there was not one in our room. Small things but it seemed pretty lot budget for a 5 star resort.

We stayed in a 4 room villa in the hotel, with a dry kitchen and a sizable pool in the villa. It was walking distance to the beach. Would have been better if there are beach chairs on the beach. Most of the guests were at the pool, but all the beach chairs were full. The customer service at the hotel was good, staff were friendly. We can call a buggy to get to the splash jungle or to go to the breakfast hall. It was a really good stay for the family.

Nice, but lacking in some areas

This was my second time staying here 5 years apart. Both times there were water shut offs and pools down for maintenance with a days notice. The place seemed nearly empty this time compared to when I was here before and they still wouldn’t allow us to check out an hour later because they said they needed the room. Over all it was a nice place, if you want to get a lounger by the pool you need to be an early riser because there’s not nearly enough. And they had one bartender to serve the entire restaurant, bar as bd pool area so service was non existent.

I love everything about this resort! Except the distance from the major areas and activities. But you can easily get to for a reasonable price with Bolt app. Customer Service superb! Maintenance of property is excellent. Its so big that you need a week to see everything, lol. Complimentary Trolly service around the property. Within walking distance of a few stores, souvenir spots, massages, and local food options.
It has a waterpark, dining options, a small market, spa services, and buffet style options. I wish it was more options for breakfast.

Would highly recommend, great value, and worth booking.

I was travelling with children and stayed here due to its proximity to the airport. I was initially concerned and going to cancel because travel made us a day late and they would not allow me to cancel in advance (despite Expedia advertising you could cancel up to 24 hours before and we were well within this limit) and would charge us a cancellation fee equivalent to our entire stay. Despite this hiccup we checked in a day late and stayed for 2 nights. The property is lovely. Well maintained, and huge. Golf cart service was very convenient and quick If you didn’t feel like walking to the beach, pool, restaurants, etc. The buffet breakfast included in our stay was great. Lots of choices and good quality. Not super hot, but typical for buffet. The room exceeded our expectations. The beds and linens were super comfortable and the a/c worked well. The beach access was very convenient and was beautiful to swim, watch the sunset or the airplanes land. We thought it would be really noisy with airplane traffic, but wasn’t a problem in our building. The service at the resort was great - friendly, helpful and accommodating. The water park was fun. Lots of great slides … hours of entertainment for the children with almost zero wait/lineups when we went. The water park is in need of some maintenance. Tiles falling off, etc., in need of some paint, for example. staff were friendly. This hotel received a trip advisor rating of 8.5 and I’d say this is exactly right. Would recommend.

We got an amazing deal when vooking and ended up with a 3 bed penthouse with our own pool.... the apartment was huge, modern, clean and beautifully designed.
The pools and water park were all clean and great to use.
There are drivers with golf buggies all ivwr to take you where you want to go within the hotel, but it wasnt as large as i thought so it was easy enough to walk everywhere.
The staff, especially the housekeeping staff were polite and friendly.
Its right next to the beach, although the sea gets deep very quick and theres no lifeguard on it so its advised no swimming.
Its also right next to the airport which is great for transfer times .... you can walk down the beach to get a great view of the planes taking off. Although its noisy, you get used to it.
The food in the beach diner was nice, good prices, lots of choice. Theres also a few nearby (5 min walk) restaurants and a 7-11 and ATM .

Our only issues with the place were..
1. It got dark around 6pm, and the hotel grounds are lit to make it look beautiful, not for practicality... it was pitch black in place's and we often had to jump out the way to avoid the golf buggies at night.
2. Breakfast is absolute carnage... theres no system, its open from 6.30 til 10.30 and everyone seems to turn up between 8 and 9.30... theres no cutlery, no cups and nowhere to sit half the time. It would make sense if they gave everyone an allocated 30 minute slot on arrival.
Other than that, its a lovely quiet family resort.

This place is hard to review. Technically everything individually is not good, but the sum of parts make it good for families. Rooms are big, but not so nice. Feee acces to water park, breakfast is zero stars to having free breakfast is more like punishment, but watching plans take off from her beach was great. Cashew chicken was good for dinner. This is probably the best value for money hotel I have ever been to.

The pros: The resort is beautiful, huge and has a ton of restaurants and massage places very close by.
The water park is really fun for kids and adults, it’s not the best I have been to but my daughters loved it and we went there 4 days in a row (I did the big waterslides and had a blast!!). The big pool is breathtaking and has a kids pool right near by. The view is magnificent and all the resort is just amazing. Also everything in the resort is walking distance which was a huge plus for us.

Cons: nothing really was bad, there are some things that aren’t great but for the price of the resort you can really be upset by them.

And these depend on your own personal perspective: it is very secluded, there is nothing to do that is walking distance from the hotel besides food, convenient stores and massages. It is quite far from the main parts of Phuket. The airport is right next to the hotel so you hear and see the planes all day long, we thought is was cool and it definitely didn’t bother us at night but it is something to think about. The rooms are dated, and very basic. The rooms are very big and have everything you need but they definitely could use some TLC. Breakfast was ok, basic, but there were many Asian options that just aren’t my typical breakfast.

Overall this hotel is great! Very highly recommended!

The music at the beach bar was very inappropriate and offensive to women and Children. There are no Air conditioned areas outside of your room or the splash kitchen. Very hot hotel lobby. I am not sure if it can get any better 💯

I wanted my family to have the experience of a lifetime. I am sure they will never forget their time at the resort I rented a 4 bedroom Villa it was the first time everyone had their own rooms. I can't say enough about the Staff they would jump through hoops of fire for you! And the Villa was well for lack of better words AMAZING 😍. I would suggest this to anyone especially families that want that one special experience. Thank you Splash resort ❤️🙏

We booked a 2 bedroom penthouse apartment with a pool which was really great although unfortunatley there were no decent TV channels available for UK guests but as we were mostly out during the day it wasn't a big deal but would have been nice to sit down as a family to watch something later in the evening.
We booked this hotel in part as it is close to the airport for our connecting flight but it should be noted that it is on the other side of the runway from the terminal so although it looks close by, it is actually a bit of a trek by taxi and for a family with suitcases cost a lot more than we expected to get to.
The grounds are huge and the hotel provides electric buggies to help the guests get around which is a nice feature.
Not the hotels fault I know but my only word of warning to any UK visitors is be prepared for some extremely rude other guests as there were quite a few who lacked even basic manners. Far more than could be put down to coincidence.

Terrible hotel expedia messed up location booked us for phuket when we are in koh samui called hotel 2 minutes after the error expedia had no luck so i called got hung up on played games with then just took our 140usd wont support such a thing just taking advantage of people and deserves a minus star

Diese Unterkunft war mit weitem Abstand die schlechteste in der ich jemals war. Wir waren 10 Minuten vor 15:00 im Hotel und wollten einchecken die Mitarbeiterin sagt es geht erst ab 15:00. in der Nacht als wir nachhause gekommen sind (23:00) stand das ganze Bad unter Wasser als ich an der Rezeption angerufen hatte kamen zwei Bedienstete und machten den Boden wieder trocken. Danach (0:30) kam ein Monteur als er ging (1:00) lief das Wasser noch immer und er sagte morgen kümmert sich jemand darum es scheint von dem darüberliegenden Zimmer zu kommen. Das Frühstück war eine Massenabfertigung und sehr schlecht. Und dem Hotel sind zum größten Teil Russen und ein kleiner Teil Chinesen Westeuropäer waren außer uns keine zu sehen. Die Zimmer waren sehr groß aber total alt und verwohnt
