Location was amazing, you are surrounded by all the big tourist destinations. We were easily able to walk everywhere. Staff was extremely friendly and were kind enough to hold on to our bags for us after check out. The room is quite small but that is what you pay for, you have everything you need so good value. Our only complaint was the toilet leaked a little bit but was not a huge deal.

The room was OK but initially the air-conditioning was not working. Was later fixed. Had to go up and down stairs to reach the room. No coffe or any other beverage available in the facility. The room had no resemblance to the one pictured. The staff, however, was very friendly and helpful. If not for them I would have given only two stars.

The room had everything we needed, including A/C. The building also had an elevator, which was convenient. The location was excellent. The only downside was the front desk receptionist, whose English was not the best, nor was his Italian so there was some miscommunication when trying to extend our stay, but the matter was resolved. Overall, a decent stay.

False advertisement and stolen food.

We left early morning, 7.40AM, went to the cafe nearby, remembered that we forgot our cheese and milk in the fridge. Went back about 8.10AM (30min later), room had not been cleaned yet, but the cheese and milk from the fridge were gone. About 60 euro (1.5kg) worth of expensive parmesan cheese gone. Reception denied anyone had been in the room (including themselves, saying they were watching the door all the time and nobody went inside), and they asked the cleaner (or someone else working there) and they also said no.

We know, with 100% certainty the cheese and milk was there when we left. We saw it in the fridge this morning before we left, and we know we didn't pack it, even checked our bags. If they had thrown it or disposed of it, OK - but someone there was blatantly lying about taking the cheese.

Reading Google reviews also reflect this hotels standards, it really was sub-par. The sign outside reading \"Luxury Hotel\" is false advertisement, nothing luxorious whatsoever about this place.

Inexpensive & No Frills

If you're looking for a true 'no frills' place, then this is the place. We chose this hotel for location, which was good. We were close to restaurants, grocery stores, attractions and shopping. The hotel's bed was too low to the floor. I had a hard time getting in and out, and it was not comfortable at all. The bathroom in our room was not set up for use properly. The opening to the shower, opened by the sink - so we had trouble getting in and out of that also. You couldn't use the bidet as it was almost flush to the wall and too close to the toilet (see pic). The flooring near the window/balcony needs to be replaced (see pic). In the 2nd room, the bed was a little higher but still not comfortable. The refrigerator wasn't working and they never fixed the situation. The hotel is not handicap accessible. You need to take stairs to the elevator and then still have to take several more stairs. The elevator didn't work properly either.
Joy was very friendly, courteous and helpful.

Do Not Even Bother

This hotel is not as advertised, the room we were presented with seemed to be in a basement area with a weird dangerous mezzanine stairwell as access.

We were immediately hit with a very strong mould smell, found a tiny bathroom that required a contortionist to get to the toilet as it was wedged against the wall and the sink. The toilet seat was also very loose and moved sideways. The shower holder was 6ft high, also dangerously loose and as such the shower head fell a number of times.

The location of this hotel is great so we decided to stick with it and asked for the toilet to be fixed and the shower holder.

We were told it would be fixed the next day. We went out and came back the next day (10pm) and nothing was fixed. We were again told the next day and offered the use of the shower in the room next door.

This room was horrific with an even worse mould stench and a cracked wall leaking water!! At this point I checked out and left, we only received a partial refund through hotel.com even though this was shocking. I have never seen such a sight in 40 years of travelling. Do not go there.

Black mold on our room walls and throughout the bathroom. Hairdryer hotwire to the back of the socket with exposed wiring. Toilet seat was broken and slid as soon as you sat down. Elevator to this floor did not work, so you had to go to floor above and walk down or floor below and walk up with luggage and children. No common areas. I asked for a place to sit and he took me to a staff kitchen/storage area that had leather couch and fridges/microwaves. God help you if you try to go downstairs and are over 5ft 6. Guaranteed to hit your head everytime. This is not a hotel.

I was booked to stay at this property for 3 nights and left after 2 to check in to a different hotel. My main concern was safety as guests are not given keys to access the hotel but rather must rely exclusively on staff being present at their desk to be buzzed in through the front gate. This is extremely dangerous from a safety standpoint and there were times I was left stranded at the front of the building because no one answered the buzz. They also only provided sheets and no blankets, when I requested a blanket I was told that they did not have any. The doors to the rooms also did not come with any locks or bolts to secure your room from the inside.would not recommend, ESPECIALLY to solo travellers.

The property was a decent price and was close to many tourist favourites. The hotel was a walkable distance to the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, Spanish steps, Castle Sant’Angelo and the Vatican. Bring walking shoes. The rooms are a bit small and the the bathrooms are small as well. It’s relatively clean.

Horrible room and hotel conditions. The photos on Expedia are very very deceiving the hotel does not look like that at all. I’m in shock that they allow that kind of advertisement. Our room was so bad that we had to leave after 5 hours and find another hotel. No reimbursement from the hotel or Expedia. Very rude staff. Beware if travelling with luggage’s as you will have to carry them up multiple flights of stairs and down their basement stairs where you have to duck. We hit our heads pretty bad as we are both tall you basically have to crawl to get to the rooms. The room was concrete with drapes put over the walls. Mold everywhere you could see it and smell it. One very thin bed sheet. The toilet was placed in a corner where you could not sit properly on it.

We decided to stay in the place for just one night last minute. After seeing the reviews we considered the risk and decided a “pleasant” stay at as worth it. However upon our arrival we experienced a broken shower head, a broken ac and short circuiting lights. This kept us up until 1:30 am when we decided to seek help from the front desk. They came to our room and were extremely unhelpful, they unsuccessfully pressed a few buttons on the ac and called it a night. When we were upset and requested another room as the lights keep switching on and off until 1:30am the front desk man on duty simply walked away from us and told us to take it up with the people in the morning. We discussed it with them the following morning and they told us they would not refund us and that we had to take it up with Expedia. Upon requesting the refund through Expedia we have been met with equal difficulty. The Expedia team has called the location multiple times only to say the hotel said we “agreed upon” not paying the city tax and was on our way. Not only was this not communicated to us but it was also said that we must handle our refund though Expedia not the hotel. Only to find that once we’ve checked out the money goes to the hotel and they decide to refund us or not. It’s been a god awful back and forth and we are unlikely to see our money back. This establishment is dirty doesn’t work and has live wires coming from the wall not to mention the abysmal service they have to offer their clients.

Getting in and out of the from was not safe. It has two very steep steps at the door frame.
The walls are covered with cloth that is dirty and moldy. There was a piece of gum stuck to the wall. The showerhead came off as soon as I turned on the water and it did not drain properly. It was not fixed until the following day.
If mold is what you are looking for this is the place for you. Nothing like the photos at all.
The location is great.
Not health safe because of the mold in the walls. The bed does not have a cover, only sheets.

The room we had was in the \"basement\" and needed many upgrades. Some of the light fixtures were not working, the bathroom stunk, the toilet was so close to the sink that we had to sit sideways to avoid hitting our knees, the shower was old and had some rust, the mirror in the bathroom was rusty all around, the bed had only sheets and no comforter. Granted is was hot, but in the room with AC at night, it was chilly. A blanket or comforter would have been nice.

Bathroom with mold/mildew

We had to book here last minute because of a power outage at our prior lodging and we were relieved to find something in our budget day of. The checkin process was pretty easy and we appreciated the very friendly staff. That said, I’m rating the overall stay poorly because the significant mildew/mold in the bathroom made it nearly unusable for us. I have an autoimmune illness that’s worsened by mold exposure, but our hotels.com booking was nonrefundable so we kept the bathroom door closed with the fan on and tried to be in the bathroom as little as possible. The fan didn’t seem effective as our hand towel was completely damp the entire time. The smell of the cleaning products was also very overpowering, but we kept the window open and asked the staff not to clean the room during our stay and that faded. I didn’t see much about the mold on hotels.com but did see it mentioned in Google reviews so adding a hotels.com review as well for others sensitive to mold.

Location! Location! Location! This is my 5th time in Rome. It’s close and walkable to every tourist attraction except the Vatican.
Great and very helpful staff. Safe for solo traveler.
The only downside is the shower which is so small like a cruise ship shower but other than that it’s perfect for me.

Affordable, friendly value based hotel

I was in Rome for 6 nights and wanted be near the city center. 939 was the perfect fit for me. I was traveling alone and didn’t require much as far as amenities. This is not a fancy place but it fit my bill. Clean safe and friendly. Red at reception was a star!

The hotels proximity to Piazza Navona, Campo de Fiore, The Trevi fountain is excellent. I’m was able to visit them before the crowds overwhelmed the Piazza's. It’s easy to find from the Metro stop at the Spanish Steps, next yo the River so access to the Vatican and Prati are a short walk.

For the single traveler or couple who just need a home base, no frills, convenient and affordable place to rest your head at night, 939 ticks all the boxes.

Service was amazing. And the size of the rooms are quite spacious and there are a variety of size rooms with decent prices. Rooms also with shared bathrooms and the beds are quite comfy.
I enjoyed my stay and had booked another two nights. The had a bedroom with shared bathroom. I was impressed even with the size given and price offered.
The washrooms are perfect size and yes… there is tons of hot water. AC in each rooms I stayed work great.
I would highly recommend this place. It’s so central and close to walking areas to enjoy the sights. Lots of restaurants around.
So easy to get to & from the train station as well.
The ladies here at the reception are nice and very friendly and super helpful.

Terrible hôtel! Please avoid it at all costs. For how expensive it is I was given a room full of mould and all wet. Coudnt sleep all night. The next morning asked to get changed and the receptionist said oh yes I know the room is mould my because it flooded. Why did they give it to me in the first place? There is no hot water in this hotel!!!! Cold showers. My brother came to my room to have a meal because there is no place to eat in this hotel like a lounge and the receptionist called me every 20 mins asking when my brother was leaving? Receptionist super rude and when you report issues, all he said I can’t do anything. I feel robbed, paying so much per night for a terrible terrible experience.

I didn't sleep in the room I booked for. There's no need to spend more for a better room as they will put you in any available room, even if it's to downgrade you.

On top of that, the room was smelly, had hairs in the sinks and hot water took 3min to arrive.

We cannot fault the friendliness of the staff at reception, nor the excellent location of this hotel. However at the price we paid and in the previous recommendations listed (which could not have been for this room???) we were NOT expecting a family room to have a tiny window (with no view), a bed with a broken base (which in fairness was replaced…but only after 1 night of very uncomfortable sleep) and a bathroom that smelt like a sewer…( this was no fault of the cleaning staff…but due to plumbing which management had clearly not taken care of) . This room is NOT appropriate for families or anyone not up to bunker type conditions. Generally shabby for the price we paid.

Doesn't worth the money!! Bad service!

The employees are very nice and want to help, but for any problem that arises, they called their manager and he treated the problem as a notification of my deficiency and not as something that needed to be solved. In 4 nights I moved to 3 different rooms due to problems. The first room was a room with a lower rating than the one I paid for: I intentionally paid for a room with a balcony, so they moved me to a room with a balcony only the air conditioner did not cool at all. The first night I slept without air conditioning, the second night one of the workers remembered that there was a fan and gave me a fan, and only on the third night did a room become available to which I moved again. In the last two rooms there was no stopper for the bath, so it was impossible to take a bath. Why is the stopper for the bathroom in the first place at the reception, and not in the bathroom? Why, if it is known that there is a problem with the air conditioning, do they not invite a technician to fix it? When I complained that I would publish the deficiencies, I was told that the boss said \"OK\". Not worth the money in any way!

While the staff tried to correct the myriad issues we had, they could not make up for the terrible condition of the room. The air conditioner was literally raining inside our room once we had it on for 5 minutes. Initially, they told us it couldn't be fixed until the next day, so i asked for a bucket so our table and floor would not be soaked. Then we tried to take showers and the shower head connector crumbled so all i had to shower with was a hose. After that i complained and asked them to fix it or move us. They were able to drain the air conditioner and unplug its drain and replace the hose connector several hours later. The place had a strong mildew smell that wouldn't go away with either air conditioning or opening the window. After the air conditioner was repaired, the room still felt humid and the towels never dried during the 2 days, though it was cool. Beyond that, the tiny bathroom had a broken toilet seat, the toilet was placed so you had to wedge your knees under the sink to sit there (thus likely the reason the seat became disconnected from the bowl). The shower had mildew in the grout and on the shower head. The shower door would not open fully unless you lifted it over a tile ledge, making it difficult to get in and out. The list goes on. The only reason this didn't get 1 star is that the staff were so kind, helpful, and apologetic. The location is great. However, i would not stay there again unless some renovation was done

The staff was wonderful! Very friendly and we felt welcomed. The hotel was near the Spanish steps and the Pantheon. Everything was walking distance. There are 2 water fountains across the street as well. You have to be buzzed in and it felt very safe. The room was clean and small but all we needed. It rained one day of our stay and we were allowed to use their personal Umbrella!! So thank you for everything!

The staff was amazing. I had a problem and Mark was extraordinarily helpful. He also did what he could to accommodate the needs of our group. WARNING this hotel has steps to get to the elevator level. The bathrooms in this hotel are almost unusable. You either have to sit sideways on the toilet in order to use it or you have to put your feet in the bidet. The showers are awful. One shower opened up so close to the sink there was only 8” of clearance, making it impossible for larger guests to even get into. The beds were uncomfortable and there is no daily room service (cleaning, fresh towels, etc). Beware of rooms 12, 13 & particularly 14. You must duck your head and use a wooden staircase to get to these rooms. My sister was in 14 for one night. We called it the dungeon. She was moved into another room the second night. The location of the hotel was great.

The front desk staff were nice and the place had a good location. Sadly it was not clean. The bathroom had some mysterious splatter on the wall. The “towels” were full of holes. They infrequently restocked our shampoo and two days only gave us a bar of soap no more shampoo and they were individually wrapped one time use. The room was very small which we were expecting. The lighting was so dim that it was hard to see. Our sink broke and was leaking for a full day. I had to ask for a bucket. The staff was good at handling this. Red was the first front desk person we met and he was lovely. No slight to any of the staff but I would not stay at this hotel again. Pay more and get something that’s at least clean.

A very small hotel, but that was expected for our budget in the middle of Rome. The rooms were obviously quite old but comfortable, and initially the TV and fridge didn't work, but this was very quickly rectified by the staff. I'd like to give especially high praise to Daniella on the front desk, who was always happy, smiling and helpful. Recommended, and very handy to some of the best sights of Rome

To check in you must buzz up. This is hidden so either spend time looking or call like I did. We tried to buzz up but had no reply. When we were checking in the guy was very rude. Told us we did not try to buzz up when we did.
Rooms are small. We had non smoking room but ours smelled like smoke. There is no do not disturb sign so they will always be in your room. Very clean rooms. The best part of this hotel is the location. 2 mins from the Pantheon. Centered between the Vatican and Colosseum. If you are using this as a crash pad and spend most the day \"adventuring\" then this would work great. Rest of the staff was friendly.

Nice hotel, but my room has never been cleaned

The room is very nice and beautiful. But my only question is: why I spent 4 nights in that hotel and nobody ever came to clean the room? The rubbish bin remained with stuffs that I put there without being removed. The dust started to form on the floor because of 4 consecutive nights without cleaning.
Anyway, the reason could be also because I use to sleep until midday and they just skip my room instead of knocking on my door to tell me that they need to clean it and make the bed.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The free WiFi was excellent. The free breakfast was acceptable. The location was very convenient with a supermarket and a pharmacy within a block. Also, within walking distance of several decent restaurants.
Now the items that were less than desirable: our room needed a complete renovation. The floor was peeling apart and the wardrobe hinges were broken. Also no drawers in the room. We asked for a room with a shower and while our bathtub had a handheld shower, there was no shower curtain. With the slippery bathtub, I had trouble standing while showering. My partially disabled wife had even greater difficulty showering.
The tiny elevator which barely holds 2 people and a carryon suitcase continually had problems getting started. The receptionist had to constantly reset a roller on the top of the door. I eventually started correcting it myself. The day before we left, they had a technician repair the elevator.
Not a hotel for mobility challenged people. You must climb approximately a dozen stairs to reach the elevator. After the elevator stops, there are another 1/2 dozen stairs to climb to reach the actual hotel.
The staff were very good with taking care of our luggage and helping us deal with the basic problems of the hotel.

Location is great and the staff ok but the hotel rooms sooo tiny that I could barely open the luggage. The pictures they show on the advertisement provides bigger perception of the room than really is.
