Casa do Amarelindo is a charming boutique hotel right in the city center. The location is walkable to many restaurants, attractions, shops and public transportation if needed. There was a view of All Saints Bay from our room, pool deck, and rooftop. The room was comfortable and spacious. The bathroom is spacious with a large walk in shower. The king size bed is huge (honestly could fit four people). My husband and I were able to really stretch out and get a good night’s sleep. The owner as well as all the staff are very attentive and helpful. A special shout out to Rodrigo for his wealth of knowledge and for arranging a wonderful beach excursion to Ilha dos Frades. Our stay was short but we managed to see and do a lot. We would love to return for a longer stay.

Staff and owner are AMAZING! Best customer service anywhere on our 18 day trip. Breakfast was FANTASTIC, location looks odd but is in a perfect spot just off the square. Police presence 24 hrs a day every 2 blocks. Very safe. Exchanged dollars for Reals at the hotel and they gave a very fair rate. Love this place!

This hotel is at the heart of historic Salvador, footsteps from everything. Because of its location, only official taxis are allowed to drive through, so don't take Uber to get there. The staff is so friendly, the breakfast spread was fantastic, the hotel gives a high-end boutique experience where the amenities are modern but the decor and architecture is authentic to historic Salvador.

The hotel was in Pelourinho area. We were able to walk around and see the touristic sites all around. Rooms were clean and quiet. We had an upgrade from the owner which was very nice. The food in the restaurant was very good as well. Breakfast included fruits, juices, omelettes. People in the reception were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely return.

Stay was much more pleasant than I expected. Located in the middle of all the amenities needed, from food, entertainment, sightseeing and shopping. Staff was friendly and helpful, bilingual and willing to answer any questions. Very clean room, bed was huge and comfy, with a spacious balcony that caught the sunset perfectly. Most of all, safe and secure. This will again be my choice of stay when I return in the near future.

Lovely historic area with everything close by, restaurants, shopping, sites it had wonderful street music everyday. Just an overeall great experience - we had a blast! This is a boutique hotel in the center of the historic section of the city. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. The breakfast was very good - offering local dishes. The renovation of the building is documented in a book of before and after pictures and quite interesting. The staff a terrific - friendly, helpful, always available. We had several changes for our flight into the city and they were so responsive about having a driver meet us at the airport. Highly recommend.

Our stay at Casa do Amarelindo was great. We arrived during the middle of carnival and the front desk staff was very welcoming provided us with all of the information we needed to get around and enjoy the festivities. The hotel has a great location, a nice pool and lovely restaurant and bar with equally great staff. Big thank you to Luis & Rodrigo for being great hosts. I only wish we had planned to stay for longer.

Absolutely beautiful surroundings and buildings around with plenty of history and character. The staff were welcoming, helpful, and informative. Absolutely amazing experience.

There are areas which are not safe to go around but are clearly mentioned during the welcome, so we were well informed by the staff.

The city is beautiful, and we definitely recommend the tours that are on offer. Top recommendation we would have is the tours of the churches and local areas, as there is lots of history to learn of not only how Salvador became, but also the roots of Brazil. We absolutely loved the whole experience.

This hotel is in a very central location in the pelhourinho with easy walking distance to all the main attractions of the historical centre. The hotel itself is very comfortable with all the amenities you could expect from a good townhouse hotel in a historical building. It has loads of charm. Best of all are the staff who are genuinely warm and friendly and helped js with whatever we asked right through from the time we booked to when we checked out. If I were to go back to Salvador again - and I really hope I do - then I wouldn’t look any further than Casa Do Amarelindo.

My wife and I stayed there in 2014.
And this year we went back with 2 of her sisters and their husbands.

Everything was great. The hotel scheduled transfers from and to airport. Tours etc.

If you want to stay at Pelourinho area, this is your hotel.

This property sits in the heart of Pelourinho, where there is always excitement! As I've visited this city before but I stayed in another pousada, however in Casa Do Amarelindo is more accessible to the towns square with live music, the drummers, restaurants and stores with the works of locals artists, it's in a wonderful and memorable location.

The hotel itself was perfect for me! I was a solo traveler and the staff took amazing care of me and even helped me to seek medical attention for a foot injury. Such caring and sincere people who made a loving mark on my heart! And I'll be forever grateful.

In closing, I suggest that you strongly consider this amazing hotel and caring staff for your visit to Pelourinho!!

I wish I could live here. But let me be a bit practical:

1. Its right in Pelourinho, the \"historic center of Salvador\", so you are steps away from food, art and, of course, history that makes Bahia, Bahia.

2. Because its in Pelourinho, there's no Uber or Lyft BUT the hotel has a network of taxi drivers that they will call for you and make sure the drivers know exactly where theyre going (a bonus if you dont speak Portuguese or are concerned about safety). I needed to request a taxi to take me to my PCR test. Not only did the driver run into to the lab to make sure I was in the right spot, he waited for me just in case it was a quick turn around)

3. From the owners on down, the staff at the Amarelindo take service to the next level. From the time I received my welcome letter with check-in details to the moment they put me into my car home, I have never felt so well taken care of - and I travel a lot. They also helped me book my PCR test and reminded me to call them if I needed someone to translate.

4. Food is delicious. Youre going to run around Salvador for acarajes and the like ( hit up Roma Negra for some bomb vegetarian), but on those days you cant bring yourself to leave your balcony (and those days will be many), you're not going to go wrong with ordering room service.

5. Decor. As soon as I stepped in, I was in love. Salvador is called the largest African city outside of Africa and artwork of the Casa reflects it.

6. Heart. Thats all I can say. Heart.

AMAZING hotel and wonderful staff!!!

Everything about our stay exceeded any expectations I had going into the trip. I'm a current Hilton Diamond and Bonvoy-Marriott Titanium and stay in hotels for about 1/3 of every year. Going to a boutique style hotel was a bit of a leap for me because every time that I've tried to go outside of my loyalty programs I've been disappointed. However, everything about this stay was as perfect as it could have been. Didier and Gilles welcomed us the same as if we were visiting their home. I guess it sort of is, as I believe the property only has ten rooms. The check-in process was seamless...most of it was done prior to arrival because of their excellent communication. Our bags were taken to our room for us, which was great because there were only stairs to get us there. :) The room was spacious and comfortable. The bed was HUGE (probably the size of two king beds) and the bathroom and rainfall shower were much better than expected. The breakfast each morning was outstanding...fresh fruit, made to order eggs and breakfast meats, wonderful pastries, and outstanding service. The one night we ate dinner at the hotel was also a remarkable experience! The pool is small...not for swimming...but the views were great! If my girlfriend and I ever return to Salvador this will be the only hotel we book.

We had the pleasure to stay at this hidden gem for 2 nights. We were pleasantly surprised on how comfortable and warm it felt from the minute we walked in. The hotel is super clean, comfortable and it has impeccable service.

They offer an incredible and extensive breakfast. The restaurants offers authentic regional food as well as international favorites, the food is simply delicious. The flavors are well balanced and flavorful.

The bar and pool overlooks the bay and it feels amazing to have skit outside with a nice bottle of wine or cocktail and enjoy the view and atmosphere.

We were truly enchanted by the coziness of the place and how welcome we felt by the owners and staff. I recommend this place wholeheartedly and we’ll definitely be staying here again next time we visit the Pelourinho.

i stayed here with my husband and a 15 month old baby for 3 nights and all i can say is - AMAZING!!!
The location is just so perfect, you right at the main squares. The customer service is amazing. They offered us two caiprinhas as welcome drinks. The room had a beautiful view of the All saints Bay. Our room had calidornia King bed!!

You can have food at the swimming pool as well. And my oh my their food!! Letr me start with breakfast. They dont do the usual buffet style breakfast. They make fresh food for you (freshly cut fruits, fresh fruit juice, eggs howver you want, coffee, fresh breads, carrot cake, banana cake....etc.). Then comes their regular meals - delicious. Honestly the best meals we have on our 10 day trip in Brazil.

I can say this enough.. but just book this place if you are coming to Salvador. They are amazing!!

Staff, front desk and restaurant, was very helpful and friendly. Hotel is very well located. Rooms in the back were quiet, even though the street in front of the hotel is very busy with music and pedestrians. We visited Salvador for 5 days; we enjoyed the sights around Pelourinho, the tour of the city and surrounding areas, and our day trips to Praia do Forte and Ilha dos Frades and Itaparica Island. I should say, however, that our stay at Casa do Amarelindo highly contributed to a most pleasant visit to Salvador. The location, right in the middle of the Pelourinho district was very convenient. The room we stayed in had a wonderful view of the lower part of the city and the open ocean. The breakfasts were truly outstanding and the staff was always pleasant and most helpful. A nice touch was the occasional contacts with the owner who made sure everything was right and satisfactory to his guests.
Special mention to the assistance provided by hotel staff in communications with a tour company to resolve a problem with a forgotten item during a tour. Additionally, I would highly recommend taking the optional transfers arranged by the hotel to and from the airport. The drivers were most punctual and accommodating.
If visiting Salvador in the future, I would certainly stay again at Casa do Amarelindo. It’s a lovely place.

There are a lot of nice things to say about this property, but I want to start with the shower -- which was phenomenal. It's takes a minute a so for the hotel water to kick in, and maybe a few additional minutes before it is in full force (note: you don't actually need much hot water in Salvador's climate), but it's worth the wait. It's like a spa experience, with the huge rainfall showerhead, the incredible water pressure, and all the options for having the water hit you from various angles. Perfection. Maybe the next thing to note is the oversized bed -- more like a king and a half. The building is old (and right on a busy pedestrian street in the old town) but the rooms are quite modern. Great a/c. Everything works beautifully, including WiFi. I had a room with a balcony with a bay view (partially obstructed by trees from the lovely little garden). I was on the same level as the small, refreshing infinity pool, which has the same views but unobstructed. There's a small gym too. I had a great dinner in the restaurant one night and breakfast is excellent. Staff were all really friendly and professional. Such a nice boutique experience. Pretty perfect in every way.

I really loved this place, I was there during carnaval 2019 with my girlfriend from Porto Alegre. I think Bahia is one of the most amazing places in Brazil. I picked Casa do Amarelindo based on the NYT review, and it exceeded my expectations. Let me give you three reasons to go:

First, the physical property. Smack in the middle of charming and chaotic Pelourinho in Salvador, and it's an oasis of calm, tranquil beauty. Perfectly maintained, tastefully decorated, pleasingly air-conditioned. My room was #12, on the third floor, was stunning. A play on yellow and blue, with the largest bed I've ever seen in my life - literally 8' wide, covered in crisp white linens, and a stunning view of the Bahia de Todos os Santos from the balcony. The bathroom was huge, with a whole spa shower experience and bronze Bizzaza tiles.

Second, the staff. Even better than the physical location, the staff is amazing. Friendly to a fault, they always introduce themselves by name, and take the time to chat. Carlos at the front desk gave me the most thorough overview of the upper city that I could ever need - it served me for all three days. Rafa at the bar is a charmer - take him up on his offer to invent a caipirinha for you. You won't go wrong. And the breakfast waiter (I'm sorry, I don't remember his name) was unerringly attentive. And the handyman who tried valiantly to salvage my broken iPad, Obrigado!

Third: The food. Breakfast is amazing, and will keep you going all day. The scrambled eggs are moist and buttery. The jam is different every day. Breakfast will keep you going well past lunch.

We stayed at he Casa do Amerelindo for 2 nights on separate occasions as we explored Morro de Sao Paulo on the island of Tinhare which is a short 2 hour Catamaran ride away.

This hotel is fantastic.

We were warmly greeted by the hotel staff and given extremely helpful information about the surrounding area and events that were on.

The beds are divine. I have no idea where they got such big beds from !
The breakfast is well served, varied and of the highest quality.
The hotel is positioned right in the middle of the Pelourinho area. A convenient and safe place to explore from.

We will be returning, especially if a free Caipirinha is still on offer at check-in :-)

Very quiet and great, friendly, professional and personable service. I loved the room blackout curtains and overall decor! The neighborhood is unique since it’s in the old historic center. If that’s the area where you want to stay, you can’t go wrong with this hotel.

Fantastic hotel right in the heart of Pelourinho

This little hotel is located right in the heart of Pelourinho - very cool. Our room was well air conditioned and sound-proofed - we slept well, undisturbed by noise and heat. While the hotel is in a historical building, the rooms and bathrooms were clean and new. The King-sized bed was ridiculously large, more like a double-King. Every single staff member was helpful and friendly. Housekeeping was excellent. The hotel restaurant was of very high quality, and reasonably priced given the quality of the food. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in the historical district.

Very attractive hotel with extremely helpful staff

This hotel is situated in themiddle of the Pelourinho, the vibrant historic centre of Salvador. The rooms are large and comfortable, there is a restaurant and a small swimming pool with a view of the bay on the roof. The staff could not be more helpful. Breakfasts are generous, though a bit eccentric. One must, however, be very careful about security outside the hotel, which is an oasis of quiet and safety.

A Great Find in Salvador

The hotel was a great find and we loved our stay there. It is in a vibrant, colourful part of Salvador, with easy access to everything that we needed. Good local restaurants, and many of the sights were within an easy walking distance. The hotel is beautifully appointed, lovely rooms and bathrooms, nice pool area, very welcoming staff, far too much to eat at breakfast! and an excellent atmosphere all round. Reception made sure that we had a map, marked all the sights on for us, and suggested a few others that we didn't know about. I would definitely stay here again and have no hesitation to recommend others to stay.

Amazing Hotel!

My wife and I stayed here for about 8 days and had a sea-view type room. The view and the room was gorgeous. We were close to the town center and could easily walk to various sights. We were also just a short bus or cab rife from the beach. The hotel staff was extremely caring and thoughtful. The breakfasts were INCREDIBLE! This hotel is beautifully decorated and the staff is there to help you out with everything. I highly recommend this hotel and really appreciate the staff members who made our trip even more wonderful.

good stay in Pelourinho

Enjoyed our stay here. This was the first place we stayed in Brazil and was a great way to ease into things. Our room was comfortable, with a good mattress and two shower heads - one a giant rainfall head. You can drink the tap water, which I had never seen in a hotel in Brazil before. We did and had no problems. Air conditioning worked well and the doors to the patio outside our room were high quality and kept any noise and insects out. Staff spoke English and were helpful. Breakfast (which you can have literally ANY time of day!) was plentiful and good quality. Only complaint is that the prices for things in the mini bar are absurd, even by Australian standards. The restaurant in the hotel was also absurdly expensive, so we didn't eat there.

The staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful - from organising transfers before arriving and in helping with orientation when there. The restaurant also serves outstanding food - Brazilian with a French twist. The hotel could do with a bit of an update to create more character but overall its a nice hotel thats well located in the tourist centre of Salvador.

Charming boutique hotel, perfect location

The staff greeted us with a detailed overview of things to see and do in Pelorinho and a coupon for two free drinks at the rooftop bar. We went up there right away. Spectacular view over the harbor. Also from our room. Huge king bed and charming room with new bath, including an immense \"shower for two,\" with a rain shower. Huge breakfast included. A great place. Driving there is somewhat hair-raising up and down tiny cobble-stoned streets and getting to the parking garage, through innumerable one-way streets, is a challenge. But a lot of the area's charm is the absence of cars.

A wonderful experience in Salvador

Casa do Amarelindo has been the best hotel we have stayed at here in Brazil..great location to discover all parts of Salvador..but overall the whole experience at the hotel was wonderful...the suite itself with the best shower ever..( I want this in my house!!) to the style and design of the hotel, the great restaurant...but the MOST important part was the wonderful owners/ hosts.....the whole experience at Casa do Amarelindo was the BEST !!! I would totally recommend a stay here.

Lovely boutique hotel

This is a lovely boutique hotel right in the heart of Salvador's historic Pelhourino district. Couldn't fault anything with it, location, comfort, facilities, all illustrated an attention to detail and personal touch that comes with a privately owned and managed hotel. Great breakfasts and we also enjoyed a couple of other meals in the small but very good hotel restaurant. Very helpful staff who provided good information about places to visit in the area, contacted us in advance about airport transfers, etc. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting Salvador.

Gem of a hotel in beautiful Salvador

Exceptional in every sense of the word. The Deluxe room is a delight - humongous bed, very nice balcony with great sea view, and the best shower experience. Excellent breakfast and dinner as well. Nice plunge pool. Excellent outside spaces for such a small, cozy hotel. Pelourinho is an unforgettable place and this hotel is a gem for the area. Very, very highly recommended.

What a great stay in Pelo.

Just a fantastic hotel experience. The owners Didier and Gilles go out of their way to welcome you to their luxurious little hotel in Salvador.

They arranged a taxi to pick us up from the airport and welcomed us on our arrival. Very friendly staff made us feel really comfortable in this environment.

Good location for exploring Pelourinho

This small boutique hotel has certainly thought of everything when it comes to entertaining guests. However, I know that being able to have your breakfast anywhere in the hotel is good but after staying for 3 nights there is a lack of variety with the breakfast being served on a tray with everything brought together. The reception staff are exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable.

Could Live Here!

My husband and I spent 5 nights at this amazing hotel and had the best time! I can't even describe it's beauty and pictures don't do it justice. They put so much thought and time into and it's breathe taking. The breakfast was amazing and the service incredible. They were all sooo nice and accommodating. If we ever go back to Salvador again, we will for sure stay here. We went mid November. LOVED IT!

Very helpful and friendly staff in a great space

Really enjoyed the hotel, which had a number of things to do on site - rooftop bar overlooking the harbour, pool, fitness centre, restaurant. The breakfast was amazing...it came in three servings for the two of us. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, and spoke good English. The hotel location is great as it's in the historic district; you can walk right outside the door and be in the midst of it. To get to the beach requires a taxi ride.
