The hotel was nice and clean overall, The staff were all inventive and kind but there were a few cons about this hotel. One main concern was our shower flooded due to the drain not draining properly, it was so bad our entire bathroom area was flooded the water went under the room door and into the hallway. We traveled with over 15 people and this happened in two other rooms as well. So this seems like a common problem. Another thing I did not like what that if you don’t put your “do not disturb light on” they will knock once and enter your room as they please. I’ve been in the bed under the covers and on multiple occasions the staff would walk in in attempt to check/restock mini bar. Very invasive! Overall the stay was nice. I would give it a 3.5/5

This might be one of the most well appointed hotels in all of the Dominican Republic. We really loved our stay and will definitely be coming back. The food, the quality of the service, the bar, the pool, the rooms. All excellent and within great proximity to everything that we want to do in Santo Domingo. I highly recommend this place.

The room and the staff are excellent, especially those on the Ambassador level. Roman and Santo are great as well as Mercedess in the spa. The only complaint is the breakfast service in the restaurant. We’ve been here many times and it does not seem to get better. The food is quite mediocre and the service is slow - long wait to get coffee and water at the table- the prepared egg/omelete station cooks are not preparing food well. Other food like hash brown potatoes and other is not up to par for a fine hotel. And often times the food is not replenished. I hope this helps to improve El Embajador. It is a lovely hotel, but service needs to rise a bit in these areas.

This hotel was much better than I expected it to be. Professional service and first class treatment from check-in to check-out.

Check-in was easy and the hotel room was very clean. We added credit to our room upon check-in and they surely did not fail to stock up our mini bar. The snack and beverages options were great.

I would say for persons traveling with really small kids to be aware that the room is filled with furniture that can be broken by a child if they’re very “busy and touchy” however we were really pleased with the aesthetics of the room.

The food options were great. We really enjoyed the “Dominican chicken and plantain” option and ate it several times during our stay. Breakfast and dinner was also really enjoyable as well.

There’s a small pool that everyone uses at the hotel. I recommend you get there early to secure the pool beds, whether shaded or in the sun. If you have small kids, I recommend you walk with small inflatables as there’s no part of the pool shallow enough for kids to stand.

Highly recommend this Hideaway. I will definitely be returning.

The staff is excellent and very friendly. Fausto, Jacinto, Kaisley ( at the Royal reception) and the other receptionist at Royal, the receptionist at the 5th Floor, the people who received us including the guy who left our baggage. The hotel is very good and the location also was excellent.

I paid extra for a suite with a sea view and they gave me one on the other side. They did change it when I asked (had to lug my bag back to the reception area), and the new room did have a sea view, but it was very hot when I went into it. They were able to adjust the temperature, and it cooled down, so all was well in the end.

The breakfast food wasn't good. I stayed at a Barcelo hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia, and their breakfast was outstanding. I was thinking that given this was also a Barcelo properly that I'd get the same quality food. Well it wasn't.
