The mini bar is not very well stocked. Although I will say, I don’t know what it was supposed to be stocked with. Because I paid for all inclusive I was expecting a little bit more in that area. Other than that, the staff were great.

The Iberostar is situated across the Road from Meia Praio, a 5 kilometre Pristine beach. The hotel is very clean & has 2 lovely clean pools & a kids pool as well. It is approximately 2.5 kilometres to Lagos town centre. Our room was cleaned & restocked daily. Our room had an Ocean view& a nice balcony. We were very disappointed on the quality of the Bed& pillows, which were 2
Twins pushed together at different heights vs 1 king bed as expected, pillows were subpar& lumpy. The food, buffet is fresh & delicious with a wide variety of choices to please all guests at both breakfast & dinner. The staff in all areas are professional & well versed in Hospitality services. The big negative, we booked 1/2 board option, as we had booked several tours throughout the Algarve & wanted to experience local food & wine. The hotel constantly tried to upgrade us to an all inclusive plan& when we declined they began openly & loudly asking to see our hotel access bracelet’s& confirming that the colour was not an all inclusive option began charging us daily for plain drinking water at dinner& making us sign this on a tablet during our dinner proof that we had drank water& charged us $5.30 for this every meal at Checkout
We felt openly discussed at each meal that we didn’t order wine or an upgrade drink
The indoor pool closes at 7pm so we were never able to use it, otherwise we would have swam after or before our dinner. All in all we would return here.

Information was not given nor was facility amenities explained. We anticipated less personalization from a bigger resort but we felt invisible here. We had to ask for what we wanted as no staff were at the pool to take drink orders. The drink menus were limited with options. Food was delicious..was it worth the extra all inclusive cost for just a few days? Debatable. Breakfast starts very late, at 730am, so we didnt even get to enjoy anything on the last day since we had an early flight. Resort was like a maze with going up to go down to the same floor as your room. Was just extra confusing. I go on vacation to think less. Parking cost $7 for the vehicle to sit outside the main lobby door? For what purpose? It didnt go towards security to watch our vehicle. This place will nickle and dime you. Housekeeping didnt come each day until late afternoon. Our biggest peeve was that there was only one door that had to be used for either the shower or the toilet room. We had to strategically decide who was getting the door if we used both simultaneously. We probably wont return.

We booked a sea view room but did not receive one. The view from our room was far from what was promised and certainly not reflective of a 5-star resort. It was a view of trees and a volleyball net. At check-in, the staff positioned our room as a “free upgrade,” but there was nothing upgraded about it—the view was worse than the standard rooms with no sea view. We had to request to be moved.

We also requested a king bed, but were given two doubles pushed together.

The food options, especially at the snack bar, were very disappointing—limited, often unavailable, and the quality was closer to movie theatre food than a luxury resort. Between 4-6pm you can’t get food anywhere other than room service. Poolside drink service was nearly nonexistent and very slow when available.

The overall property did not meet 5-star standards. The hallways were hot with no air conditioning (only in rooms), the brown carpets were heavily stained, and the attention to detail across the resort was lacking. Although they did a good job with the renovations in the lobby and good onsite parking options the hotel didnt wow us.

This is definitely not a true 5-star experience. I’ve stayed at many 5-star resorts, and this doesn’t compare. At best, I would rate it 3.5–4 stars. If you’re looking for genuine luxury and service, I may recommend looking elsewhere.

Big spacious property - does not feel crowded
Rooms are big and space, although the carpets need replacing.

Good pool for kids, good to have an indoor pool too! There was a gym but we didn’t utilise it.
Very close to the beach, and easy access to board walk that takes up right up to the Marina.

Breakfast and dinner was buffet style and plentiful, however disappointed with the quality - tastes average, food was luke warm eg taco shells were soft. Dinner started at 7.30pm and breakfast at 7am which is a bit late for us with a toddler + with jet lag.

Reception was casual. Would be nice to be oriented to the hotel by reception staff including activities that are on. Only found out about the activities on a board near the restaurant which is 1 level below the reception.

Stairways and hallways had food lying on the floor for days. Neighbor’s room service food sat outside their room for at least 24 hours. Hallways are carpeted and smelly and hot. Staff was unfriendly (especially at the pool) and u helpful. Hotel was oddly designed and difficult to get around. Our room had no light in the toilet area and also no privacy for people using the toilet or the shower (they both had the same door!) Definitely not a 5 star facility.

We stayed at Iberostar Lagos in late July with our extended family — 8 of us, including grandparents, kids (ages 7 and 9), and adults with different dietary needs — and it exceeded expectations.

The location is unbeatable: right above Meia Praia, with stunning ocean views and easy beach access. You’re close enough to enjoy the energy of Lagos town (just a 5–10 minute drive) but far enough to feel relaxed and quiet.

Rooms were modern, clean, and spacious. Loved the water stations all throughout the hotel. The staff was absolutely fantastic!!! Carolina, the manager, was always available and helped us with restaurant recommendations and planning our day. Top notch!

Ismael and Anna were excellent
from the check in process to any questions we had in between. Paulo and the entire bar staffed attended all our drink needs and were very friendly. The kids loved the kids club and the staff there (2 lovely ladies). Breakfast buffet in the morning was lovely. Shalini at the egg station was extremely nice and a great chef.

Service was friendly, and the hotel had a mellow, unpretentious vibe. The pools (indoor and outdoor) were clean and not too crowded, and our kids loved taking a quick dip in the mornings.

Iberostar Lagos hits the mark.

Outstanding property, great location with 180 degree sea views. Comfortable good size rooms, high quality linens. Modern, very clean, good facilities (pools fitness room etc). Food is excellent (quality, choice and plentiful) both for breakfast and dinner. Best staff we have ever encountered - from the cleaners to servers, to front desk and entertainment staff, they all went out of their way to communicate, be helpful and make sure they could do everything to make your stay the best possible. Unreservedly recommend.

Location was good. Quality of food (breakfast & dinner) very good. Service from most, but not all of the staff. Carpet in hallways definitely needs replacing. For the price should not be charged $1.50 for each extra coffee pods. Would be nice if they had a shuttle to transport guests to town, as it was about 30 minute to walk there on the boardwalk.

Perfect week in lagos

We had a fabulous time at the hotel. The room was perfect and very clean, all new fixtures and a rain shower that was amazing. The full breakfast every morning was also better than we expected . Located across from the beach with a nice walkway and Lagos was only a few miles away . We are already planing a trip for next year . We stayed on the 6th floor and had a nice sea view

The overall experience at this property was excellent. The public areas are all beautiful and well-maintained and seem to be updated very well. The buffet breakfast was phenomenal, with a wonderful choice of foods as well as options at the omelette station. The only criticism is the hallways and rooms are in desperate need of updating carpeting and areas showed terrible signs of being bleached by the sun, stains, and they look like they haven’t been cleaned in a very long time. The rooms Were very nice but very dated and also had stained and dirty carpeting. A little surprising for such a high-end resort. Again, the overall experience was excellent, but I would definitely deduct one star for the rooms.

This is a five star property? I don’t think so. The hotel was dirty, the rugs disgusting looking and the staff not helpful. I was only there two nights and the elevator wasn’t working for most of one of the days! The rugs in the hallways are stained and filthy looking as were the rugs in my room # 4. When I spoke to the woman at the front desk she said I was not the first one to complain about that room. Then why still book it??? She acted liked she didn’t care and said her manager would call back, Carla left me a message calling me the wrong name and said she left a message on my room phone, too but she didn’t!
For the price that I paid I was very disappointed and dissatisfied. I was also on floor zero and when the elevators didn’t work that was quite a hike! I am sure there are many other hotels in Lagos that we could have chosen with nicer facilities and a helpful stafg

Nice hotel, a quick drive (15 min) to Lagos town and top area beaches. Enjoyed the large half board which had many food options. Facilities itself were clean and modern and staff was very friendly. Room was spacious. A quick walk across the street to the beach (can rent chairs from independent bar/restaurant, not affiliated with hotel). Beach is very nice but not one of the top in the area as not near cliffs/grottos so did not spend much time there. The hotel itself was great but the immediate area around the hotel is somewhat rundown/ not developed. The hotel may benefit from additional trees/plants to mask the surrounding area. For example, we paid for a beach view which we received but the vibe was somewhat tarnished by the street and parking lot.

While this hotel is advertised as a 5 star resort, the standard is closer to 3 stars. The carpets in the hotel hallways and in the rooms are dirty and smelly. The pillows were uncomfortable and the mattress on the pull out couch very thin and uncomfortable. It’s clear this property has not been undated in a very long time. The hallways and elevators are not air conditioned so it is VERY hot in the main areas of the hotel. Also the layout is very poor with long walks to rooms and only certain elevators to get to the various floors.

There is a bar fridge in the room which barely
Cools. Maintenance came and aid that’s just how they are, they don’t keep anything cold.

Food at the restaurant beside the main pool was not very good and the service was average. The food at the buffet was much better.

There was a bad odor outside. Some have said it is the river close to the property which has an older when it rains. It smelled like manure on our first day there.

I would never recommend this hotel to anyone as a five star property. Don’t waste your money.

Amazing!

Had the most amazing stat and if I come back to Lagos, I’ll be sure to come back. Food was great, staff were attentive and friendly. It’s about a 45 min walk into Lagos town centre, but you can Uber for around €4 each way. There was constantly entertainment in the hotel but we did not see that, and the drinks list for all inclusive was substantial. My girlfriend said this was the best hotel she stayed in. Definitely recommended. Oh, and you get a welcome drink on arrival, no matter what time you arrive.

Terrible customer service. Had a broken bed and they tried flipping the mattress and covering it up with a topper even AFTER I said we needed a new room. Then when they finally gave us a new room, we got 2 single beds even though we paid for a king. No apology, no communication. Just an employee taking us to the new one. Horrible service for a “5” star hotel. More like a 3.5 at best

Every single bit of our stay was perfect! Location - ability to safely and comfortably walk everywhere! Proximity to beach was amazing and the boardwalk throughout Lagos was brilliant! From check-in staff ( amazing ) to restaurant and bar service to housekeeping, couldn't have excpected more, truly. Namely Rita, Yuday, Vitor, Rodrigo, Melissa, Rafael, Natasha but the entire staff was brilliant - thank you Iberostar!

Lacked all the finesse of a 5 star hotel.
Check in took 30 mins at midnight with no other guests around. Also we realised we had been charged way more than the available rack rate at that time.
Room was almost 900m walk from the reception.
Rooms were horribly dirty, and even the housekeeping was inadequate.
Will never ever book an Iberostar Hotel again. Biggest mistake.

To start this review our experience could be 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ however the front desk person by the name Rita ruined our experience at the front desk during check in process! She had a terrible attitude and answered all our questions in NO and rude manner. When we asked her why she is so rude she said we better talk to the manager and literally went hiding in the back! The front desk manager Luis and the rest of the staff Oleg and another gentleman were really nice and accommodating! The hotel is clean, the rooms are clean, the bed is comfortable and the food is delicious with huge selection of traditional and modern cuisines! The beach is near by and pristine clean! The water at the pool is little cold in October but it’s manageable the lady with entertainment team who led water activities had an awesome energy! Everything was excellent but the front desk experience was unacceptable!

Big disappointment!!!

This hotel was a big disappointment especially for the amount of money it cost! The room was disgusting. Our sheets were ripped, there was never enough towels or toilet paper given. The housekeeper dropped her name badge and my husband was stuck with the pin from it in the middle of the night on the bed😔.The room had absolutely zero character. There were no pictures on the wall. The bathroom situation was ridiculous…the same door was used to close the cell-like shower and the toilet area, ugh!!! The carpeting in the hallway needed to be changed probably years ago. It was musty and dirty. The only saving grace was that the breakfast was good & the pool area was very nice. I will never stay at an Iberostar again. Total waste of a lot of money.

Visited Lagos 8.12.23 for 4 nights. Great location, nice pool area, nice staff, wonderful for families. Only complaint is the lack dining option. Understanding that most people eat out. We did arrive later in the evening for our first night and the only option was to eat buffet dinner at 10pm when we just wanted a light snack. All in all would recommend this hotel.

The breakfast buffet was amazing, the staff were delightful, the vistas were beautiful, the pool areas were large and easy to get a bed, nice activity options as well. It would take at least 45 minutes to walk to Lagos centre or a 7 minute car ride.
I would say the carpets throughout need to be replaced as do the pool deck beds.
Overall, a pleasant stay!

Hot tub must be scheduled to be able to use ahead of time. Buffet food was mediocre at best. They tell you at the front desk room service is included when you check-in but when you check in will charge you for all room service. Pools all close at 7pm. Bar closes at 11 you can even sit in the lobby past midnight.

From check-in to check-out, this hotel was first class. The staff were well-trained, friendly and efficient. The breakfast and dinner buffets were of good quality, plenty of variety and routinely topped-up. Cleanliness throughout the hotel was outstanding (lots of high gloss surfaces and all spotless). The room was also of high-quality, spotlessly clean and comfortable.
The only shortcoming was a slight lack of storage space in the room. We travel very 'light' but, even for us, some additional drawer-space would have been welcome.
The hotel is approximately 2 miles from Lagos and is in a great beachfront location, ideal for walks on the sand and within half of the railway station.
Overall, highly recommended and would certainly re-visit.

This hotel was like a cruise ship on land. Big, spacious, lots of public areas. Hotel offers only all you can eat dinner or expensive room service. The hot tub and steam room was an extra fee of 15e per person per hour. In room coffee was an extra fee. It is out of city with very limited amenities nearby. Meals off the property were difficult.

In an older hotel now and missing our stay at the iberostar so much. We slept so well and it was such a comfortable stay from the free cold water stations to the wonderful breakfasts. It’s a bit of a walk to town but we didn’t mind that. We spent 10 nights there and are hoping to go back! They charge for coffee refills in the room but we just grabbed a bunch of coffee pods from the grocery store in town.

Reception and lounge area was far too hot as air con was not adequate or maybe even switched off although in the rooms it was fantastic. Previously the gym and steam room were available without having to pay an extra fee- I was not happy about this at all as for the price and a five star the steam room should have been free with the indoor pool. The staff were all courteous and helpful and the hotel is clean with a focus on being eco-friendly. We had a problem with the air conditioning in our room, which was one speed and a hair dryer, which blew up. This was quickly replaced by a better version. Another bugbear was towels being left to claim sunbeds before going off to have a meal. We have stayed in other hotels where this is not tolerated and would recommend a tougher approach.

Iberostar Selection Lagos is located close to the beach and most of its rooms overlook the waters. Amenities are excellent. It has an excellent breakfast which was built into the rate and a great dinner buffet which we had to pay for additionally. This is a perfect place to relax and enjoy but when one is in the Algarve region it is better to head outside and explore the beaches and the mesmerizing cliffs. So there could be cheaper options which would be better value for money
The hotel has minimal free parking so you will likely need to get a free spot. Restaurants are close by. The Algar Seco, Ponta Piedade and several attractions are within a 30 minute drive. The hotel needs to work on its check in process which is painfully slow and consumes too much time even though they do welcome you with a drink

Perfect for Solo Travelers

The hotel was amazing and my room was beautiful. The breakfast was incredible! The service was unmatched. They were so helpful especially for me as a solo traveler during my first time in Portugal. The evening entertainment was also nice.

5 Star Hotel with very little perks!

The place was beautiful and very clean. The activity people \"Rita and her staff were amazing and friendly. The wait staff was also very nice. Some of the higher ups were very unfriendly and it was very evident. I am not sure of the reason. Breakfast was from 8:00 to 10:30 and then 1 to 4 lunch and dinner started at 7:30 and ended at 10pm. In between times there was no where to get food so that was very difficult. A small snack bar would of been a great solution even if we had to pay for it.
All inclusive was told to us that everything was included such as the mini bar/ room services. which only had a couple of sodas and beers. When we checked out we got billed for it. My husband and I got 2 twin beds pushed together. They charged us for that too and my kids room we got charged too. We didn't want to complain about it but they knew we asked for a king bed in the one room. If we have known, we were getting charged for something, we would of requested for what we wanted.
The bill came and we just paid it and left. My three kids were so happy we were leaving. Didn't expect a 5 star hotel be so unfriendly and have hidden fees that was never stated. Also a pool that was very cold!
The food was very fresh and tasty!

Nice place

Very comfortable room, spacious, high ceilings, modern, large shower, large bath, comfortable bed, nice balcony with good views, large safe, soundproofed walls. Quiet room overlooking Portimao with garden and sea views. Nice staff, professional, well-trained. Room furniture showed signs of wear and tear, there was some mold on the mastic in shower. Cleanliness of grouting on bathroom floor could also be improved. Mini-fridge did not work. Used glasses and mugs replaced every few days. Quality of food at breakfast could be improved. No freshly squeezed juice provided. Lunch buffet was 25 euros and food looked pretty average. Cushions by pool looked dirty and tired. Shuttle to Lagos marina was convenient, 2 euros each way. Beach is beautiful, large, sandy, clean, clear and shallow, but weather in June was cold, windy, rainy, cloudy and not suitable for swimming. Beach would be perfect on a hot day with warm sea temperature. Liked the sense of space and light at the hotel, even though furniture in room was dark and weather was poor. Except at breakfast it did not seem crowded or busy, enough space for everyone. Did not need to take lifts, they kept internal stairway doors open. Hotel is on hill overlooking sea. Reception is on level 4, main pool on level 2 and there is another pool on ground floor near beach. Most rooms except for those facing entrance and those on ground floor will probably have some level of sea view. There is not much around the hotel, it’s fairly quiet.

Overall the hotel is very good. The only thing they don’t have enough staff, so at the reception, bar there were queues all the time.
As well around the hotel there were road replacement happening so was very dirty and not too comfortable walking to the beach. But it will be done within one month approximately.
As well no kettles in the rooms - you need to ask at the reception.
The room cleaning was exceptional.

We had a great stay at the Iberico.

It was gearing up for the summer and not everything was open like the second pool bar and kids club.

Some of the service was hit and miss which we out down to limited staffing and one or two grumpy waiters, but overall it was fine.

Pool areas was ok, sun beds a little tired and towel system not really working with life guard not being available all day to give and collect towels resulting in the card being kept abs questions the next day on why no card?! They resolved them everyday by letting us use the towels without the cards. Towels all brand new. Drinks and tables needed attention.

Food and drinks on the whole good, but maybe a bit too much of the same for more than three days with some good places to eat outside the hotel.

All in all a good holiday. Would recommend it, but one stay is enough for us.

Areas of the hotel which should look amazing (Room, Lobby, Pool, Restaurant) looks amazing but the rest of the hotel looked so worn and maybe finished to a pool standard (corridors to rooms, doors leading to pool or beach broken, etc). It didn’t have a 5 star feel. The paving around the top pool and bar area was a complete trip hazard. Tiles would move as you walk on them and some just stuck up.
Service wasn’t what you’d expect from a 5 star hotel. Maybe 3 star. I completely understand they were under staffed due to covid but being kicked off sunbeds at 6:30pm when people are still sunbathing we’ve never experienced before.
In the morning all the used glasses from the night before would still be round the pool, they would be like that until lunch. Sun lounger tables sticky from the night before.
The lower pool had a bar which was never open the 11 nights we were there which was so annoying because it was a 5 min walk around the building up the stairs or using a lift.
Room cleaning wasn’t the best. They’d leave used mugs or glasses in the room for days. Fitted bed sheets wern’t wide enough so someone always had a side where the sheet was coming up.
Room and view was beautiful but shower temperature was sporadic. You wouldn’t touch the controls and it would be scolding one minute then freezing the next.
Location was lovely. Easy access to a very quiet beach. Short distance to Lagos.
Some staff members were lovely despite them obviously working long shifts.

The hotel was absolutely lovely in a good position on a Sandy natural beach BUT the road along the front of the road is just being made, it’s a dirt track with big machines in it.
The ambiance of the hotel was REALLY SPOILT by having loud ALL INCLUSIVE tatoo covered young guests!! Terrible rough lot!

Disappointing

Rather disappointing and I would suggest rather 3.5 star rather the claimed 5 star. Beware of the scalping practices of reception staff who claim your room isn't ready to check in but miraculously can be if you pay an extra fee.

Out of principle I waited the 30mins to official 3pm check in.

Good breakfast buffet though.

wonderful, relaxing stay!

Excellent stay, beautiful room and balcony with view, excellent service. A few minor points: shortage of pool/beach towels each afternoon. Also, the evening buffet was not at the level I would expect of a 5* hotel - I assume this is in part due to the pandemic.

The staff were amazing, so friendly and accomodating. The breakfast buffet was great, we ate here everyday before venturing out. There are two pool areas so plenty of room for all the guests. Every night they had live music in at the bar which was a nice way to end the evening. The cocktails there were incredible!

Excellent hotel with beautiful rooms. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The hotel isn't in the middle of the town (which is nice for some peace and quiet) but it's a mere 4-5 min drive to the Marina (an uber trip was only about €3-4 each way and the hotel operates a shuttle bus service which is €3 return)
