The property was very old. The room smelled terrible the entire stay. In the room itself there was only one outlet to plug things in. The hotel is a lot older than shown in the photos online.

This hotel was clean and centrally located. Please be aware that they charge 7euros per luggage if you need luggage storage ahead of your check-in. Also, be aware that rooms do not have mini fridges, and some rooms have old and weak A/C units.

The accommodation is not as described on the website. It was described as a 3 star hotel, but is barely a one star motel. The hotel claimed to offer ‘modern standard of comfort, whilst maintaining a friendly and efficient service’. However, this is contrary to my experience. I was also informed on checking in that I was not allowed any visitors, this was not in any way stated on the website and defeats the purpose of the use of a hotel. In a bid to make sure I could not have any visitors, they gained access to my room without my knowledge or request and removed two out of the four pillows on the bed. When I complained about all of this, I was told, that those were their rules, as if I was in a dormitory. It would appear that these so called rules were suddenly created solely for myself to adhere to as I could see people of other races come in and go out in threes and fours and use the amenities freely. When I made this known, I was told there was nothing I could do and the manager even murmured a racial slur. Bearing in mind, all of this happened within 3/4hours of checking in. Also the bed was wobbly and appeared as though it would collapse if I moved too vigorously in it. The beddings appeared also to be worn out and shabby and not modern as advertised. This hotel did not meet the promised standard of service and significantly deviates from what had been advertised. I even tried to resolve amicably with them, however I was met with a dismissive response.

The hotel is in a good location for the marina and beach, although it is situated on a noisy main road. I should image in its day it was a great hotel but the rooms are in need of updating. Our toilet seat didn’t fit and there was a shower in the bath with a shower curtain.
There was an extra charge to use the safe in the room.
The breakfast was ok but the same each day with a collection of many cereals, the coffee from the machine wasn’t very nice at all. We didn’t use the pool, it was small and there weren’t many sun beds.
However, the staff were helpful and friendly and Lagos was sunny with beautiful beaches.

Its the worst hotel I’ve ever been into. The toilet smelled bad, the AC barely works and you need to be in the room, or else it shuts down because they refuse to give you 2 key-cards ( you need one so the electricity runs). There was only a broken safe in the room. No fridge, no coffee machine, no nothing. Average breakfast. The soap stinks. We asked for help to Monika and she was very rude. Would not recommend this to my worst enemy, keep your money. The hotel isn’t even well placed (location wise)

We just needed a place to sleep because our house construction was running behind schedule. However, I did not expect to be walking into this kind of place at all. It felt like you were in 70’s. I asked the wonderful receptionist for some ice, which is standard in most hotels, and she provided me with a plastic cup with some ice cubes, while we waited, we overheard the hotel owner telling her, “if they want more, they can go buy it.” The lights in the lobby were all shut off, the light bulbs in the room were unscrewed, the toaster during breakfast had the settings so low that you had to wait for your bread to toast for almost a half an hour. The level of service and amenities is non - existent. The Receptionist in the evening shift was lovely, but all other workers looked scared and the place looks like the management is focusing on collecting the money and not providing any type of service.

The hotel is however outdated and our AC did not work. A fan was brought to us and that really helped in the month of july.

Great boutique hotel

This was a really cute hotel! We enjoyed our stay and the staff was super friendly. The rooms were clean. We also spent a bit of time by the pool which was adorable! The hotel is about 20 mins walk across the marina to the main Lagos attractions and a little bit further to the beach but we didn’t mind at all! The value for the price was excellent with free breakfast as a nice added bonus.

Vintage, cute hotel. The breakfast is the same thing daily with never a variety. The room key is micromanaged as you leave the building. The people are very nice and friendly. The bartender is a hoot! A ghost must have opened my closet door while I was away one day as they said no one entered the room. The beds are not soft, but the massive pillows can be used like a topper for comfort.

What a gem!

I absolutely loved this hotel and could go on and on with reasons why: charming, very clean and well-maintained; friendly, helpful staff; spacious room; comfortable bed and pillows; great rain shower; nice pool; walking distance to marina, numerous restaurants, beach, and both the bus and train stations (and I was toting two pieces of luggage); ice breakfast; budget-friendly rate. I would definitely stay here again.

We very much enjoyed our stay - all of the staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast in the morning was great (toast, coldcuts, cheese, yogurt, cereal, fruit, etc). Reception closes at midnight so if you plan to be out later than that, you must request a night key. Hotel is on the marina side so you have to walk the bridge to get to the old town - but it is a beautiful walk! Highly recommend.

This property needs a bit of a facelift and is a bit far from the town centre. Usually the distance wouldn’t be a problem but our visit to Lagos was extremely windy and cool in the evening which meant it was rather uncomfortable to walk the distance. The staff were friendly and helpful.

This hotel is very cute and in a great, convenient location (quick walk to town and the beach with free parking). The staff are so kind and helpful. The complimentary breakfast is great and there’s a nice little pool. My only complaint is that there are no irons or ironing boards (not even to borrow) and no ice machines or any way to get ice. These two things seem like pretty big staples for a hotel to have. Everything else is exceptional! Would recommend staying here!

Great value friendly traditional hotel with pool

Really good three days in this older but very well maintained, friendly, family-run hotel. It’s within easy walking distance of the marina, with all its restaurants/bars, lovely Mea Praia beach, the main town area and just minutes from the train station. All the staff were great and I was given exactly the room I requested at the rear of the main building. A great breakfast buffet, a sheltered small swimming pool with loungers (a bonus at certain times of the year as Lagos can be very windy!) and I’m happy to recommend the Marina Sao Roque as it ticked all our boxes. Muito Obrigado!

The staff were super friendly and someone was available 24/7. Really great location, just a 5 minute walk to the Marina and train station. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the pool area was lovely, we got the pool to ourselves most of the time too. Breakfast was simple but good quality and delicious. Would highly recommend this hotel, great value!

Wonderful hospitality from Susanna who gave me tips on shortcuts to Lagos attractions. Not all staff can speak good English. If you are stuck, you can always go to Susanna. She really goes all the way to help even finding my Portugal sweets for me.I feel safe staying in this hotel. Receptionist waited till 3am for my return. It feels like I have family looking after me. The hotel is excellent location, minutes away from supermarket and marine. Pls bring ur shampoo. Only shower gel is provided which happens to be my fave brand! No mini bar or coffee making in my room. The safe has no lock but I always bring a lock. U can go to nearby cafes or supermarket to get fresh drinks.No hot cooked breakfast. A selection of hard boiled eggs, fresh coffee, bread, ham and cheese with cakes and yogurt. Also juices and milk provided.Excellent value for the five stars service and location of this hotel. The hotel doesn’t host noisy people. As a mature sole traveller, I prefer my peace and quiet.

Perfect for a stay in Lagos

This hotel is ideally located. Situated within easy walking distance of Marina, bus stop and train station. A supermarket is also close by. It is a traditional Portuguese property full of charm. Dining room is beautiful. Breakfast -continental- was very good. Plenty to eat and a reasonable choice. The waitress was very pleasant as we're all staff. My only problem was hard pillows, which management have agreed to rectify prior to my next visit in Spring 2019. Some guests may find the noise of traffic outside some rooms a nuisance. It didn't bother me. Pool area is clean if a little small,but seemed very welcoming.

Great location - 2 mins. from the Marina. 2 mins. from the supermarket. 15 mins. from the City Centre. 20 mins. from the closest beach.

I traveled by myself and it was very safe & clean. You leave your key with the concierge when you go out, I don’t know if that’s common Portugal practice but again, it was very safe and nothing was ever stolen. It’s a family run hotel. Everyone’s super nice, Susana was especially helpful. She speaks perfect English. She helped me book tours and surf lessons right at the front desk. I wouldn’t have been able to phone them (Thanks!).

Breakfast was good - breads, fresh juice, hard boiled eggs, fruit, coffee, teas & some pastries. The rooms were clean with air conditioning & blow dryer and more importantly, there was a strong wifi signal. Bathroom is small but clean and the water pressure in the shower/sink was good.

The hotel was quite quiet. Pool is open until 7pm but it’s a bit cold when the sun goes down anyway. Not the right hotel if you’re planning on partying or pre-gaming in your hotel room. Great for relaxing, for seniors or if you’re a solo traveler that wants a safe place to return to every night.

I would stay here again and I highly recommend them!

Another great stay in Lagos

Travelled solo this trip to Lagos so decided to try the san Roque as it’s close to the marina
Hotel is nice family run hotel with owners and staff very friendly and hotel very clean
Continental breakfast was all you need to start the day
Had a nice 5 day break at the hotel
On the minor note TV had no English channels. Just sub titles. But not a life changer and please to all hotels please put more cloths hangers in the wardrobe 4 was not enough

Short walking distance from the Marina well worth the savings to stay there.
Staff was friendly, Suzanna in particular was extremely helpful and so kind.
The beds were not very comfortable and the bathrooms are too narrow. There was no way to shower without having the curtain stick to you, but overall it was clean.
The biggest issue was the fact that our room was facing the street and it was extremely noisy.

This is a very clean and accomodating hotel. However the lack of tea and coffee service, a small refridgerator and hygene amenities besides handsoap pump at the sink was annoying. There is also an annoying lack of electrical outlets for the laptop, mobile charging and the ever improtant TEA KETTLE.

I will never understand why Europeans refuse to refridegrate MILK. They offer cereal in the morning but the milk is room temperature.

Snapping cold milk on breakfast cereal must be an American thing.

Come and stay in Lagos for a few days and be happy

Room cleaned and linen changed each day of our 4 day stay.
No hen or stag parties or under 18s allowed ensures no rowdy/drunken parties!!
Room keys are handed to reception when you go on daily excursions to ensure only bona fida guests return when collecting them.
5 minutes from an exceptional marina and 10 minutes from the heart of Lagos gives a plethora of activities to suit the most ardent sightseer.

Weve just returned from a 4 night stay here and we loved it! Hotel is a street behind the marina so is a fsntastic location for walking into Lagos old town - supermarket at end of road, space to park car outside. Staff lovely, continental breakfast was great, cafe next door serves english for €5.50 if you prefer... pool looked lovely however we didnt go in as we were out at beach all day. TV and wifi all worked great, room was spotless and our bed was made everyday. I would suggest packing earplugs if road noise disturbs your sleep- its not a really busy road though but one night i struggled to sleep as the bins were emptied in the middle of the night but i slept well every other night- we would not hesitate to come stay here again - lovely place

Lovely visit to Lagos

We were in Lagos for 3 nights. This is a nice hotel, which has a cozy Portuguese interior with tiled walls. The rooms were comfortable and clean, there is a nice pool as wel.
The front desk staff was lovely and always willing to answer questions and help.
The hotel is located near the Marina which has many cafes and restaurants and a few shops. It’s is about a 10-13 minute walk from the Bus station and about 5-8 minute walk from the train station.
It is about a 10 minute walk to Praia Sao Roque beach.
To get into the town of Logos and beaches along the cliffs it is about a 15- 20 minute walk.

Family run hotel close to amenities

I love this hotel it is family run & it's my third visit & love the friendly atmosphere with all the staff. Good location to the Marina & I feel like part of the family especially when you arrive . Cannot wait for my visit same time same place next year . Really close to the Marina , bus station & train station & there is a large supermarket at present being renovated but when it's open it sells everything. Two beaches close by & you can hop on a little train that's takes an hour around Lagos I love this resort. This resort is lovely.

The hotel is family run and could not have made us more welcome. The personal attention from the manager was lovely - chatting to guests at the bar in the evenings. We were especially touched that he came to say goodbye the day we left.

Hidden gem

Small hotel ideally located for access to the many beaches, marina and old town in Lagos.

The staff were helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

The hotel is set back from the road and our room was at the back overlooking the pool, so was quiet. The continental breakfast was much better than i expected with a good selection available of various fresh fruit, meats, cheese etc.

I would definitely go back there.

Friendly hotel close to Lagos Marina

Whilst the hotel itself is a little outdated we were very impressed with the service from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who made us feel welcome every time we walked through the door.

The hotel is nothing flash but perfectly clean and the choice of breakfast excellent. It ihas a small pool to the rear and more often than not we found we had this to ourselves. The location is very handy for the lovely Lagos Marina (a 5 minute walk) and only a 15 minute walk into the bustling town centre with it's many bars and restaurants.

We would thoroughly recommend this hotel to friends and family, particularly if you are on a budget as we were this year (saving for a wedding!)

Hotel is a very short walk to Dive-Time dive center, and close to highway access, and at the Marina restaurants, short distance to historic area and beaches. large comfortable, well appointed rooms, friendly staff, excellent breakfast, will stay there again when in Lagos for scuba diving.
