Disappointing Standard for a 4-Star Hotel

The rooms were very basic, lacking even essential amenities like tea and coffee making facilities or any complimentary items. We found it absurd that the mini-bars were locked. Furthermore, the furnishings are visibly old, and the sauna's limited hours (5:00 PM to 11:00 PM) were inconvenient.

Based on the lack of basic amenities and dated features, I do not believe this hotel lives up to 4-star standards.

However, I must commend the staff; the employees were friendly and welcoming. The hotel was also clean, and the parking facility was adequate.

Older building. Well used but in reasonably good shape. Excellent selection for breakfast foods including vegan and gluten options. Basic food but got us going for the day. Quiet area. Police station and ambulance station across the road. Easy access to highway. Had bus tour each day so was busy. Parking is comfortable with plenty extra available. Runnable neighborhood with multitude of trails and passageways. Fuel station close.... gym was comprised of mostly broken equipment but sauna and steamworked.

Hotel was good , I’d recommend to stay here . The airport is only 20-25 mins away , be careful though taxis will charge about £50 to £60 euros . A bus takes you to nearest train station . About 10 mins drive away . It’s 20km away from Düsseldorf town centre which again is £40 euros in a taxi . Food and drink is about £25-45 euros per meal . You can go Macdonalds or pizza nearby . The hotel’s continental breakfast is good . It has a good sauna and steam room gym is only ok for topping up fitness . Bar is good for late night drinks etc . Overall 8/10

The room is small like Ibis hotel room and it doesn't have any amenities like hotpot (kettle), coffee making stuff or tea bag and cups or glasses, etc. The breakfast in the morning has nothing to rave about and the coffee tastes horrible. The hotel interior looks very dark and tired. There is a spider in the restroom crawling at the corner of the ceiling above the mirror

First time to stay here, it's right on the edge of Mettmann coming in from Dusseldorf. It's showing its age but the two nights here were quite all right. The breakfast was decent and the service personnel at the restaurant was friendly. There are also two supermarkets within 5 min walk.

Older hotel that could use some updating. Carpet is a little dirty. Very 1980s. Nice service. I’m sure if I wasn’t here for a trade show, rates wouldn’t have been outrageous. Pretty far from the convention center so staying here will not save you money. Very nice staff.

Dirty room, the bathroom was not cleaned. In the morning, I could see how the maids were keeping the sheets on the floor. Really awful to see that one of that sheets will be put in your bed. 😔 would definitely not recommend it.

I will stay clear of this hotel.

I’ve never been to a hotel that has no air condition or cold air coming from vents. It was so hot I felt like I was dying. I was given a small rickety fan to use and when I called Hotels.com it couldn’t be sorted out. I was promised a call back the next morning but heard nothing back. This has been the worst experience I have ever had in my life and will never be using the hotel again.

Make sure you want to go to Mettman

The hotel is nice. You need a car to get to restaurants around the hotel. The buffet is pricey and the variety is the same every night. The bar area is nice with a huge tv and it was fun getting to know about soccer. The listing said they offered laundry service. I gave 3 loads of laundry and cost me 300 Euros. It would have been cheaper to buy new clothes. I thought the name Dusseldorf Mettman meant that it was close to Dusseldorf. After a taxi and train we arrived in Dusseldorf. The shower was extremely small and I never learned how to adjust the heater. The staff was very nice.

Having to ask for tea/coffee making facilities is becoming a little tiresome, but then having to get your own cups, and tea/coffee, milk etc. is stretching things; especially as other hotels in the chain supply these without being requested. Breakfast on our first morning was very much "hit or miss"; the were obviously a lot of people resident, and insufficient staff to ensure all the usual breakfast options were being replenished. This did improve over the next couple of days; but in November/December they often have bus parties resident, and this issue needs addressing before then. The rooms are always very hot, even though we turn the heating right down, maybe some form of air conditioning system could be incorporated, or simply reducing the thermostats !

We go to euroshop In Duesseldorf down town

MeTaman away 45min by bus from Duesseldorf down town, 25min by taxi he charge us way to go 48euro and back 48 or 50euro to the euroshop area another 20 to 25 euro!!! Must not tell : Wyndham Garden Düsseldorf Mettmann - It Only Takes A Minute it is a!!!!!!!?????? It not Düsseldorf it is a town very far away we spend more then 800 euro taxi!!!!!

This is a typical business hotel on the outskirts of Duesseldorf. The rooms are clean and tidy, the bathroom has all you need and the noise level is low as well. Perfect for a short stay. However - if you want to visit Duesseldorf it is advisable to come by car.

Nicely furnished hotel without air conditioning

This hotel is northwest of Dusseldorf about 15 kilometers from the Aldstadt in the town of Mettman. I was disappointed to discover that the hotel did not have air conditioning upon my arrival on a day that was very hot. I did not bother to check on that when I booked the room, I just assumed that all hotels have air conditioning and for the first 2 nights I had difficulty sleeping in the heat. At least they had a fan that I could borrow for a deposit of 20 euro which helped. Thankfully by the third day the weather had cooled. The hotel was nicely furnished and had a nice restaurant with a bar. The breakfast was very good and there was a lot of items to choose from. The internet signal was not available in my room and I had to go down to the lobby to receive a signal. The hotel offered to move me to another room but I declined. The free parking was nice because if you stay here you will need a vehicle to get around as there is not much there. Only a few restaurants (mostly fast food including a McDonalds) within walking distance. There is a grocery store very close by but not much shopping unless you travel downtown.

Definetly not 4 star - mediocre 3 star! Small rooms - no bathroom amenities including no soap on first day...second day there was hand soap in the shower instead of shower/bath liquid soap!

Positives are breakfast open till 11 am everyday and free parking

Good clean hotel 10 miles, 45 minutes from the city centre on the 738 bus (Two Euros Fifty one way) from bay 11 at the Haupotbahnhof in Dusseldorf which stops right outside (by the Peckhauser Kreispolizelbehorde bus stop). Aldi, Rewe & McDonalds are nearby and town centre is about 30 minutes walk away or again you can go on the 738 bus again. Aldi, Rewe & McDonalds are very close by. Town shops seem to close early or completely on Saturdays

Breakfast had a great choice of meats, cheeses, rolls, croissants etc and hot & cold drinks. Rooms similar to Travel Inn - clean and comfortable. As seems to be usual with German & Austrian hotels the pillows collapse to nothing so you may need to use the spares. Free Wi-Fi - but you have to get a card for each device from reception each day to use. Hotel staff were friendly & helpful. Hotel was easy to book, find and check-in

The location is good away from hustle and bustle, good connections to roads and transport. From outside hotel looks very nice and classy. However the room we were given was very small. The room was grimy and dirty. The curtain a were torn. Overall ambiance was missing and very poor. Amenities mentioned steam room (not working) only a small gym and sauna were working so very basic. Breakfast had a limited choice specially for vegetarians. Overall for the size and outward appearance the rooms amenities and services cod be improved a lot

Nice Hotel Location, Lacking Services

This hotel is located conveniently in Mettmann, not too far from the town and a close drive to Dusseldorf. They have a nice sauna and good meeting facilities.

I came to this hotel for business and to spend a few days catching up on work. Unfortunately, I was not able to do this because of their lack of Internet service.

The rooms are a bit small, but otherwise German standard.

The big problem is their "free WiFi" DOES NOT WORK, even on multiple devices (iPad, PC, droid phone, etc.). After several days in the hotel, they were unable to get it working. The only option was to work in the lobby with a cable. Even after the front desk staff promised to have the system reset multiple times and to talk with management, nothing happened over several days. They kept giving me new passwords, but this was not the problem -- I could not even access the screen for passwords. It was a "hot" issue discussed in the sauna by other guests with the same problems.

A business hotel without working WiFi means it is NOT a hotel that can be recommended. In this day and age, it is simply unacceptable.

Terrible service and rude aggressive staff

The staff from the front to the bar were rude aggressive and generally unhelpful. The bar staff were rude and put out by having to serve us. They booked my taxi booked for the incorrect time at 0515 instead of 0545 although I was a awake when the wake up call came the awful male receptionist persisted in arguing with me and wouldn't agree to ask the driver wait. I was down in 20 mins and luckily the driver waited. The male receptionist then persisted in aggressively pointing the time the taxi was booked and I had to ask him to stop being so aggressive. He then shrugged his shoulders and said I haven't asked the driver to wait, the driver had waited and was clearly not concerned about the wait. The male receptionist then deliberately took a very long time to check me out and even tried to argue that my credit card was not working. Despite having printed a receipt which had cleared the amount due he tried to ask for another credit card which I refused. Overall the experience left me feeling extremely unsafe. I will not be recommending this hotel or staying here again.

Distance from Airport adds to the Cost

This hotel was the first budget option that came up when I looked for one close to the Dusseldorf airport. We spent the same amount on cab rides to and from the airport as we did on this Best Western motel for our one-night stay, effectively doubling the cost. It wasn't a nice enough hotel stay to justify this travel. Surely, the total cost of travel to and from the airport plus the cost of the room is equal to staying at a nicer hotel, closer to the airport. This just wasn't worth the cost.

WHEN I ORDERED THE ROOMR HOTEL TOLD ME ROOM IS ROLL IN SHOWER AND ACCESSABLE ROOM
In the end I got single room with a step in shower, I needed help to get in the shower and slept alone in the room
both frieds I came with got a room far away, they didi not supplay a conecting door room
a day after they asked me to leave the room because they over booked it!!
Nsturaly I refused and they did ot asked me again....

This hotel is tired. Many things don't work properly in the room (Windows, telephone msg light, lights, non smoking room with rug burns, minibar won't cool etc.) or common areas (elevator call button lights, shoe shine machine). Some staff is friendly; some, primarily the ones taking inquiries & complaints are also tired or perhaps its callous or indifferent as they have heard it all before. They therefore come across as disinterested, tired or worn out.

A very nice surprise

We booked this hotel for the Prowein show because the one he had stayed at for the last half-dozen years raised its prices and were afraid that we had traded down.. As a matter of fact, we ended up closer to the show than we expected and the qulity of the place and its service were about equal. Only debit were not a lot of choices for restaurants in the immediate area of the hotel. It was a fine place to stay, but, like all of the hotels outside the city center, one does need a car to get around.

The hotel is at a good location, close to the highways. The hotel is not the newest one, but it is clean. The rooms are a bit small, so a stay for many days may frustrate you. I stayed one night. Parking was not an issue as well. Great personnel. Nice hotel bar.

Good place to explore Neaderthal than the Airport

We booked this hotel after searching for "Dusseldorf Airport Hotels". It is not near the airport. It was, however, a good hotel with excellant staff - who had much better command on English than we did German. The food in the restaurant was great, but not cheap, and there was a nice range of beers and wine in the bar (and very good service). I realised when we got there that we had not booked in for bed and breakfast, and given the price of the food available we decided to purchase our breakfast from the neighbouring Aldi Supermarket. The room was compact, but perfectly adequate for our needs. I have stayed in much much worse places. We realised the following morning we near very near the Neaderthal Valley, which we were very pleased about as we were hoping to visist the valley and museum.

I liked this hotel. It's clean, friendly and the restaurant / bar area was enjoyable and comfortable. Mettmann is a little off the beaten track for those intending to see Dusseldorf, but nevertheless it's a quiet and peaceful sort of place where, it seems, not much ever happens. I have friends and family living nearby so it is likely that I will return sometime in the future and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

The hotel was convenient to the airport with a small free parking lot. The room was small and clean, but there is no AC, so beware if the weather is hot, the window will have to be open. There is an elevator, which is a plus, but there were no restaurants in the neighborhood, so you are dependent on the hotel's restaurant. The breakfast selection was good.

Der Empfang beim Check-Inn war sehr herzlich. Leider gab es keine Info das das Restaurant von mehreren Reisegruppen am Abend belegt war und es dadurch nur Buffet gab. Der Preis fürs gezwungene Abendessen war schon recht hoch.
Hotel liegt an einer Hauptstraße da Zimmer zur Strasse ziemlich laut
Preis für Zimmer sehr günstig.

Service und Personal waren sehr gut. Sowohl an der Rezeption als auch im Speisesaal und an der Bar war das Personal sehr aufmerksam, freundlich und hilfsbereit.
Das Hotel insgesamt ist in einem in die Jahre gekommenen Zustand. Der Teppichboden im Zimmer war stark verschmutzt. Die Silikonfugen in der Duschkabine waren komplett verschimmelt. Die Entlüftung im Bad funktionierte nicht, ebenso die Lampen an den Nachttischen. Die Minibar war verschlossen, aber der Kühlschrank produzierte noch reichlich Abwärme im Zimmer. Durch an- und abreisende Reisegruppen spätabends bzw. frühmorgens war es auf dem rückseitigen Parkplatz sehr laut, was grundsätzlich, insbesondere aber bei geöffnetem Fenster störend war. Allerdings war an Schlaf bei geschlossenem Fenster wegen der Wärme im Zimmer, aber auch in den Fluren, nicht zu denken. Die Terrasse des Hauses war ebenfalls sehr ungepflegt. Wir hatten den Eindruck, dass seitens der Eigentümer nicht mehr viel in das Haus investiert werde.

Trotz Anfrage op das Frühstück und Restaurant glutenfreie Lebensmittel hat und dies bejaht wurde, war dies am Frühstückbuffet nicht der Fall und im Restaurant musste man es erklären.Die verschiedenen Allergene waren angegeben aber es gab keine Alternative.

Personal super nett. Frühstück sehr gut, hatten auch eine vegane Ecke, leider keine pflanzliche Milch. Zimmer sehr laut, man könnte die Autos von der Strasse schon ab 6 in der früh laut hören.

gut: großzügiger Parkplatz, gutes Frühstücksbuffet, von der Autobahn schnell zu erreichen, nettes Personal.

negativ: Ausstattung veraltet und sehr abgenutzt, Teppich überall fleckig, sanitäre Einrichtungen sauber, aber nicht mehr zeitgemäß.

Bad ist sehr klein und müsste dringend überholt werden. Besser Duschvorhang als kleiner starrer Einstieg. Wenn man etwas breiter ust, wird duschen zur Herausforderung.

Self
